I saw a beautiful cake on their site and decided to go with Walmart's Bakery. The cake was BEAUTIFUL online. I went down to the store, spoke with bakery staff and ordered the cake on a Monday for the following Friday pick up. Thursday afternoon I received a call from the Bakery manager (Linda) informing me that they did not have the gray frosting for the bottom layer of the cake. We hashed through solutions then came up with a subtle milk chocolate frosting for the bottom layer. When I picked up the cake on Friday afternoon, I was okay with the color change but shocked at the frosting job on the cake. It looked as though I frosted it myself (I have two thumbs when it comes to frosting a cake). I had no choice but to take the cake. The party was the next day and I had already paid a deposit on it. It got worse when I got the cake home. The top round layer was placed atop the bottom layer crooked (not centered at all). The cake looked TOTALLY different from what I ordered. I could only hope that it tasted good. When company arrived all of them asked if I made the cake, myself. Embarrassed, I said "no, it was ordered from a bakery". They were shocked at the appearance and that I paid $60.00 for it. Everyone kept saying that I needed to get my money back. It was verrrry embarrassing but we tried to keep the merriment going. The cake was delicious but the looks were not. The manager was sweet and tried to make the cake look like it was supposed to but failed. I would not recommend ordering specialty cakes from this bakery as they need more cake decorating training. The cake decorating/frosting looks like amateur homemade cakes ... embarrassing.
