I have always been a fan of the DeCicco business model - well stocked shelves and fresh produce with excellent customer service from a friendly and knowledgeable staff. But far too often lately I'm finding expired products on the shelves. And it doesn't feel accidental: on a recent visit I told a worker that there was expired cheese on a shelf. He thanked me for telling me and assured me he'd deal with it. One week later that expired cheese was still on the shelf. I came home today with ketchup that expired last month. Ketchup has an extremely long shelf life - it must have been on the shelf for years. read more

Guess I'm on the hunt to visit every DeCicco's in the area! For the longest time I had no idea there was one so close to me in Ardsley. The setup is a bit of a maze but I was able to find all the things I needed. So happy they carry some hard to find items you can't find at the regular grocery stores. Please, someone, explain this to me: Occasionally (frequently) DeCiccos has a Vintage (brand) seltzer sale of 5 for $4.00. That's 80 cents each. (There does not appear to be a requirement that you buy in quantities of 5). Each time, the store has a stack of cases of Vintage seltzer at the front of the store, with a sign advertising the case at $10.99. That's 91.66 cents per bottle. The customer has a choice: (1) To pay more for the convenience of buying a case instead of separate bottles; (2) To argue with store employees that they are advertising the seltzer at 80 cents, so the case should go for $9.60 ea.; or (3) Empty the shelf of the 10 or 20 bottles I want, which results in : (a) A DeCicco employee must re-stock the shelf; (b) Other customers may be looking at empty shelves until they are re-stocked; (c) Its more difficult to transport 12 loose bottles to the car than a wrapped case of 12 bottles. Previously, I went with #2. But I'm tired of arguing the obvious, so I cleared the shelf and brought my extra large shopping bags. Perhaps I will eventually give up and pay more. But why can't DeCiccos simply pick one price? read more

I'm in a rehabilitation center now and my husband has been living off of take out for the last four weeks. Tonight he brought home a chicken pot pie from your Millwood location. He is a great fan of pot pies but he was extremely disappointed in this one. It was extremely dry and filled with potatoes. I have made that same mistake and brought home one of your chicken pot pies in the past and found it the same way. This is not the way to make a great pot pie. I'd heard a lot about DeCicco's up here and was excited to try it once I moved in. All in all, didn't disappoint. It's basically a really nice grocery store that skews Italian and has an awesome beer section. Walking in, they have the Italian bakery, deli, and of course some really good bread from Arthur Ave. Around the corner they have a bunch of cheese samples which are typically successful in getting me to buy something. Beer selection is incredible. They basically function as the special beer store around here . There's always at least 1 guy there who knows a ton about beer too. Butcher and fish guy around the corner are fine. The pasta/tomato aisle is great as you'd expect it'd be. Service throughout the store is a cut above, and the managers/owners are almost always around. Only reason for 4 stars is the pricing. It's a bit high for some things, however it doesn't big me too much as I don't come here everyday. For specialty items and an occasionally pleasant shopping experience, this place hits the spot though. read more

I like to get food from the hot food bar but often I find it too salty and loaded with hot pepper. Last week, at the Ardsley location , I tried the chicken meatballs and pasta salad. Both had very spicy black pepper. It should have been labeled that it was spicy because that wasn't expected. I think there should be more oversite in the kitchen as to what kind of spice and how much salt is added to food. Customers can add more if they choose but they can't take it out. I often end up throwing food away. I know that I can return it if I am not satisfied but that is inconvenient I think they are using the wrong kind of pepper and adding salt to items that already have salt. bought a brisket last week.. ordered it, it was ready when they said it would be.. it was excellent ( after cooking) as well as the service to purchase it. today was faroe salmon.. it was custom cut at the seafood counter and was excellent. the store is always well stocked, the salespeople are helpful. store is attractive. everything laid out very well read more

I ordered a deli platter of tea sandwiches for a Mother's Day brunch that I was hosting, and what I received was a mess. I chose 3 sandwiches from the list: caprese, salmon, and BLT for a platter of 20. This platter looked like it had been through a hurricane. There was no presentation, no organization, just sandwiches piled on top of each other, and parts of the sandwiches had fallen out and were now randomly throughout the pile. They were indistinguishable, some sandwiches were empty? Some of the tomatoes that were used were unripe, green, crunchy, and tasted horrible. The bacon in the BLTs were undercooked and chewy. It seemed no care was taken in the making of this platter! Where is quality control?? This was very disappointing, to say the least, as this was going to be feeding my company yet wasn't eaten. What a waste of food and money. I was very surprised as I have been a customer for 20 years and have ordered cakes from the bakery, eaten their prepared food, bought their produce, and deli and never had a complaint. DeCiccos in Ardsley is one of my favorite places to shop. However, it is the only store that I order catering from. Santiago is a total pleasure to deal with. He is so helpful in recommending the correct amounts of food needed and guiding the customer as to what combination of foods would best fit the occasion. I recently ordered food for the Jewish holidays and the platters were beautiful to look at and absolutely delicious. I am truly grateful to Santiago for the expertise he brings to the catering department at DeCiccos. read more

I had sent a message to the store re: an on sale item that was not available when I was there shopping. Seemingly within minutes I was contacted by a Manager at the store (Alexa) who was so kind and went so far above and beyond to get me the item I am still surprised! I know the prices on some items are higher at DeCiccos, but the quality and especially the customer service is well worth it. I'm a fan of DeCicco's - my parents have shopped at their stores occasionally though the years but I've only just discovered them recently. The family has stores throughout Westchester and the lower Hudson Valley, and many do not realize there are actually two DeCicco companies owned by two branches of the same family; one company goes under the name "DeCicco & Sons" and the other goes under "DeCicco Family Markets". The easiest way I can describe DeCicco's is to compare it to H Mart, but instead of selling American and Asian groceries, it sells American and Italian groceries. They have a good amount of Italian brands and they also but their name on a number of products. I'm really impressed by their deli and butcher sections, and they have extensive beer and cheese selections as well. Compared to their other stores, this one is kind of cramped and the parking lot is a little difficult to maneuver through, but the selection outweighs these minor flaws. I've heard from a number of people that DeCicco's shoppers come off as being pretentious, but I really haven't encountered that through my experiences. I will say however that it wouldn't surprise me, because this isn't a cheap grocery store, and their stores are (perhaps strategically) placed in affluent towns in Westchester. Regardless of this, I like DeCiccos - their prices will keep me from being a regular shopper, but every once in a while it's nice to pick up a few things here. read more

While the produce can be a bit more expensive here, hands down it's the nicest produce section I've seen at any of the local supermarkets around. I've always had pleasant experiences with staff at this location. In particular, the butcher Vinnie has become someone I consider a family friend. He always takes the time to chat with my or my father and he remembers the types of things my dad might look for. Just means a lot to me that he puts a smile on my dad's face. Something of a hidden gem is iced coffee from there bakery department. I don't see many ever ordering coffee from that counter but guys, if you want some coffee while you shop to sip on, try it! I'm always pleasantly surprised at how tasty their brews are. read more

My family and I are pretty picky about sushi but the selection of sushi rolls are surprisingly very good here. Generally fresh quality sashimi and just the right amount of rice (some other places really overdo it with the rice) in the rolls. Compliments to the Itamae (Sushi Chef). This is a nice neighborhood store and most of the people who shop here are long time residents of the town, like my family. They have good customer service too. There were a couple of times my mother purchased loaves of bread that unbeknownst to her, were molding. She took them back to the store and they let her exchange it very easily. read more

We live in the city but every couple of weeks we make a special trip up here just to shop at DeCicco's in Ardsley (the others are great too). Yes it's more expensive than the chain stores, but it's worth it for the selection, the freshness, and the staff. We were there the day before Thanksgiving which must be one of the most intense days of the year for shopstaff, but Eddie the assistant meat dept manager took the time to take us aside, listen to our questions, offer advice, and pick out some turkey for us which proved to be exceptional. We love this place and congraulate the owners for making it a place where the staff are treated with respect, which shows in how they treat the customers! read more

Pretty nice selection great beer and cheeses! Prepared food is good and sushi is actually not that bad, but I get the movie I sushi and enjoy it. Cashiers are friendly and they have a private lot for parking. Watch out, sometimes people don't understand the concept of a one way. read more

Is there a way to give this place more than 5 stars? I wish I could. Having ordered our Thanksgiving meal complete with stuffing and trimmings we were excited to not have to cook for the first time in our lives. I arrived to the pick up line late afternoon, picked up my boxed meal, complete with trimmings, and was out the door very quickly for a Thanksgiving eve trip to the supermarket. My catastrophe occurred lifting the turkey box (filled with food and sides) out of the cart and into my trunk. To my surprise the box had given in (probably from condensation) and in seconds my entire Thanksgiving meal was lying on the parking lot floor. The staff, especially Al and John could not have been more helpful. They made what could have been a disaster into a generous opportunity to make our Thanksgiving meal perfect. Mistakes and accidents can always happen, but what sets this establishment apart from the others is the absolute best service they'll provide. It may have been our first catered meal, but not our last. Thank you for your commitment to quality customer service. So far so good. They have a great deli, bakery, and sea food section. Like another reviewer stated, its pretty comparable to Whole Foods with the exception of fighting for parking. The dudes behind the seafood/meat counter are extremely friendly and who would ever think that St. Andre cheese would actually make a spreadable version? BUYER BEWARE! I ordered a pound of American cheese and when the deli person weighed the cheese she coded it as an imported French cheese at $24.99 per lb. I pointed out her error while the cheese was still on the scale and she replied "but you ordered a lb.". Again, I told her she was coding it wrong as American cheese is far less then this amount. It took 3 tries to get it right! And, management shrugged when this was reported. I guess they don't care how their customers are treated! read more

First hit this joint about two years ago. An upscale version of Stew Leonards, has an awesome beer and cheese selection. Extremely knowledgeable staff. I am absolutly disgusted with DeCicco's. I purchased store made Lobster Salad and after noticing a foul taste I discovered after pulling back the store label which had an expiration date only to discover a label underneath which a date already expired. I wish I could say this was the first time this had happened to me but it happened a year ago and the store made right so I gave them the benifit of the doubt. DeCicco's is a greed driven buisness that is willing to put thier customers health at risk to make profit on perishable goods that should have disgarded of. This review is only for the beer section, which is AMAZING! C and I were looking for some interesting beers to take with us to a party, and Stop and Shop wasn't cutting it. I looked on Beer Advocate, which is a great website that helps you locate stores with good beer selections according to your location. I was surprised to see DeCicco's in Ardsley received a very high rating-- I've never been there and just assumed it was like any other ordinary upscale (i.e., overpriced and obnoxious) Westchester market. I was WRONG! DeCicco's has an enviable selection of local and hard to find microbrews, including, to my complete delight, Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence, which I have been futilely searching for since I visited Cooperstown last fall. That alone was worth the trip there. We also picked up beer from Blue Point and Southern Tier. The prices reflect that many of these beers are hard to find, but the selection is really astounding. On top of that, there seems to be a guy whose sole job is to man the beer section, offering tips and tastes. And on top of THAT, they offer various size growlers (which I saw here for the first time-- basically jugs that you fill and refill with beer from taps) and a number of beers on tap with which to fill those growlers. If you cringe at your college days when Natty Ice was the beer of choice (huh? what? not me!) and appreciate quality beer, DeCicco's is worth a trip for sure. read more

Do yourself a favor. Take a step into the beer refrigerator and disappear. Lose yourself in their unbelievable selection of domestic and foreign brews. DeCiccos is one of the only places in New York that carries my favorite beer, Jever. They also carry Leffe which is a Belgium beer of high ABV that is my friend's favorite. This place is a God sent. Definitely not your run of the mill supermarket DeCicco's offers a large variety of gourmet or hard to find items. Don't listen to any review that says DeCicco's is more expensive than the other area supermarkets - it's not. I am a frugal shopper and their prices are competitive, if not better, than other area stores with one exception: their milk, eggs, creamers can be more expensive. I think the reason many people think that they are more expensive is because they offer a large variety of organic products. But the customer service here cannot be beat. The beer selection is absolutely amazing. And you never have to wait in line to check out. read more

All vegetables, meat, fish, cold cuts is ALWAYS fresh and they cook various dishes daily. The fruits are amazing and the they always taste good. The store is clean. The staff is extremely courteous, always ready to assist, are knowledgeable and professional. I purchased some fresh fish and shrimps during the summer and they didn't just hand me a container with the fish but placed all items in a bag with ice! I am not a fan of shopping and put it off but going to DeCicco's in Ardsley, NY is changing my opinion. :-) read more

I find that the shoppers and the staff have a pretentious attitude. However, my 4 star rating goes to the BEER. It's the most comprehensive craft beer selection in the area. You can find pretty much anything there, and their staff is very knowledgeable. They also have kegs that change regularly, so you can get a growler filled up. read more

High-end store with outrageous prices. Their grocery items are four times that of ShopRite in Scarsdale. A can of lump crab meat I bought for $20 at ShopRite was $47 at DeCicco's. I go the next day, wait on a line for an hour to get in and when I go to the deli section, they tell me that they can't cut the ham for me... The grocery look fresh here. Kinda like a local farmers market/ Whole Foods vibe in a nice little town. But who cares about the food. People come here for the craft beer! To start they have beer tastings. In a supermarket, that's showing some love to the beer guys like us. The beer area/selection are not allocated a large area in this market but every inch is packed with quality. Remember to look up! As shelves above the fridge have more beer. Of the top of my head they had, DogFIsh Head, Captain Lawrence, Rougue, Speakeasy, Longtrail, Avery... to come to think about it, I can name like 20 more, lol. To save bandwidth and your time, let's just say there is at least 45+ brands to choose from. After purchasing your bottles, they are carefully packed into the shopping bags. Much appreciation. Location wise it is not ideal for NYC heads as the drive + paying the toll is not worth trekking up. Majority of the beer can be found somewhere in the city. Wish they shielded the beer from the light too. But make it a point to at least visit once or stop by when visiting Captain Lawrence Brewery since it's like 10 miles away. read more

Decicco's is a smaller, upscale supermarket who specializes in amazingly fresh dishes. the owners family is hands on d\so the will provide you with extra good service and they truly take care of special requests. While this store is a little pricey, it is well worth it! I have been going for years. I buy on sale and special things that I would not be able to get elsewhere. I am writing this review during the COVID 19 crisis and this store has been a ROCK STAR! They were one of the first in the area to clean and wipedown carts, form a line that made customers stand 6 feet apart and open early for seniors! I love them even more if that is possible! The staff is awesome, you can tell they are a team and the main manager who I will have to get is name should get a raise! He is awesome!
