Buerger Brothers Construction built an addition to our home, which included a 700+ square foot garage, using concrete poured on Piers and a floor poured as a "Slab on void" due to bad soils report. They also built a new deck, and managed front yard landscaping. They are an honest, ethical, professional, and an excellent company to do business with. We started planning in May of 2019, with construction from June through October of 2020, we found ways to work during the early days of the Covid pandemic. Communicating with Christian was a breeze, he was easy to talk to, responsive, professional and truly cares about what you are conveying. Because I am a retired engineer I had to stick my nose into everything... From the beginning he brought in professionals from the Architect, Structural Engineers to the finishing Carpenter and Painter, each step was amazing and all within budget. The cadre of subcontractors hired by Burger Brothers had to meet a high standard of professionalism and produce a high quality product, they were all wonderful to work with. Of note, was the daily cleanup, the care taken and the security to the existing area, especially working in the midst of a pandemic! Inconvenience was kept to a minimum and in the end we can actually say the complete project went quite smoothly and was a great experience. Would I hire them to do it again? Absolutely "In a heartbeat, no doubt about it!" I just cannot brag enough about this company and I promise you will not regret your decision to hire Christian and his crew! I could go on and on, but you get the gist.... if you want honesty and professionalism, these are your guys! What was once an uncomfortable, underutilized area is now a beautiful basement with a dedicated office, a workout space, and a much better-sized, well-organized utility room. In addition, they replaced all of our carpet with hardwood floors throughout the main level, and the results are amazing. The craftsmanship and finish quality exceeded our expectations -- the house feels completely elevated and refreshed. Noam was exceptional throughout the entire process. He worked closely with me on the overall design, offered smart and practical solutions, and truly understood what we were trying to accomplish. He came by daily to make sure every detail was executed correctly and was always attentive, responsive, and proactive. His hands-on approach gave us a lot of confidence that the project would turn out right -- and it absolutely did. I can't say enough good things about Noam and the A2Z team. Initially, I contacted Aaron, the owner, to replace a basement…read moreshower door, after the - likely original - shower stall door started to come off its framing, before my neighborhood handyman (who charges less than half of Aaron's day rate) fixed it. I regret that I didn't simply leave the situation there, keep my old shower stall door/frame kit, and save $1K. However, at the time (June 2024), I had high hopes that Aaron could become my general contractor, for me to eventually hire to renovate my kitchen & bathrooms upstairs. So I hired him to test him, with 5 specific projects: 1) Basement Shower Stall Door/Frame: - Given I was a new homeowner, I had no idea what I was doing, told him as much, and asked for his help. I measured the shower stall, told him some ideas of that for which I was looking, and - given he's a General Contractor, who told me he's originally from New Jersey, and was hired to renovate an entire house in Mill Valley, CA (posh NorCal) during the pandemic, I mistakenly trusted him. He told me to find shower stall kits on HomeDepot.com, have it delivered to the store, then he'd pick it up at the store in his truck, and remove my old shower stall door/frame. What he failed to do was verify the kit I sent him - before ordering - matched the measurements, after I specifically asked for his guidance/help, and he offered to help me. Then - worse yet - he was unethical, unlike my neighborhood handyman, as he never told me during the install that it was the wrong measurement / size, for that shower, installed it anyway, removed my old shower door/frame/kit, without discussing this with me, told me to get out of his way and go upstairs and "trust him," then I realized after he left that it was the wrong size. Worse yet? He removed the tile, grout, caulk, and new paint, and when I contacted him to fix it in June 2024 - before my July 2024 Breast Cancer Diagnosis, hence the delay - he never replied to come fix it. 2) Crawl Space Access Door: - Same goes for this. He told me he has a jigsaw, so he could fix the wood frame and install the door properly around it, that I'd already purchased through my HVAC contractor, only to leave the wood in piece meal around it, allowing bugs to enter my home, which was the entire point of his work. Then he sloppily sprayed fire foam around it, and it looks significantly worse than if I'd just hired my neighborhood handyman with a day rate less than half of Aaron's to do it, in the first place, who I now need to hire to fix it, including creating a wooden frame with a proper fit, flush screws, and a cement bottom, to match the wall. My handyman quoted me $187.50 for 1.5-hours for this specific project. 3) Bedroom Vent: - When my HVAC technician moved one of the vents in my primary bedroom, the base board needed to be patched, as well as the carpet. Aaron bought the wrong base board at the wrong Home Improvement shop, told me that was the only option, only for my neighborhood handyman to tell me - yet again - that Aaron was wrong/lied to me, and that my current baseboard is still replaceable with an exact match, so yet again, I need to hire my neighborhood handyman to fix Aaron's work. 4) Kitchen Calendar Wall Hook: - I know this was simple, but while he was here, I thought he could help me make this more secure, but - yet again - my neighborhood handyman had to re-do it. 5) Flag Anchor Front Porch: - Yet again this was done with the wrong hardware, that was not aesthetically pleasing, so my neighborhood handyman re-did it. Overall, it's not just the fact that Aaron's rate was near double my neighborhood handyman, it's not just the fact that he made numerous mistakes, after reassuring me I could trust him, as I told him these were test projects for bigger scale work, it's the fact of how Aaron handled the mistakes, by ignoring me, hiding the shower door mistake, and refusing to fix the mistakes, over 1-year later. Whereas, my neighborhood handyman has made mistakes before, and he owns up to them, and fixes them without any issues. We're all human. :)

Curtis came over right away to review the damage, talk options, and prepare a quote for us. They were fairly priced and even worked with our insurance when anything needed further clarification. JG even found a few electrical issues that were very dangerous and alerted us to those so we could fix them. They always arrived when they said they would and worked really hard to get our work done (and this was over the week before & during Christmas as well as New Years!). My problems with MLC have been the same expressed in other reviews. Mark promised a top quality bathroom in 10 business days after the demo for a fair and definitely not small sum of money. I paid him a deposit of $4800 up front after they demo'd my only bathroom... then the lies began. Nothing happened for weeks. I begun to start feeling scammed but when I could reach Mark he would give me excuses and assure me that it would happen soon. I wish he would have just stolen my money, rather than keep me on this nightmarish ride of stress and anger. It has been 12 weeks since demo and the job has not been finished. I fired them yesterday, as I can no longer handle their unprofessional behavior, awful craftsmanship and utter disregard... Here are some examples of what I've dealt with. I begged Mark to install a toilet after the demolition, which he did not do for 3+ weeks, the shower was not operable until 8+ weeks. This was my ONLY bathroom! My bedroom that is connected is full of dust and dirt and mud all over the floors making the bedroom unusable. They made no attempt to use plastic to keep anything contained. Other glues and mud was tracked all throughout my house and stuck to the wood flooring. He has left my home UNINHABITABLE FOR MONTHS! It takes extensive effort to get any communication or work to be performed.. . I would have to call and call and text to get Mark to answer. He came by twice early on to do some VERY POOR and Inexperienced work himself, that would always have to be redone. Examples are: Glued new tile on top of old tile without leveling, spacing, or cleaning it. The end result was jagged and misaligned. He then tried to poor a tile shower base incorrectly, which I noticed was NOT UP TO CODE and he told me he had been doing that way for 30 years... both jobs had to be redone. I kept asking for materials I paid for to be delivered but they never showed up. Materials that did come were not approved or the cheapest possible version. When subcontractors would actually show up, they were not working off any plan or with any knowledge of the design. One guys work would always conflict with another and create more problems. Anything that did get done was of poor quality, misalignment, ugly and slapdash to even an unexperienced eye. I never once felt comfortable or confidant in the job but since I had already given him half the money, what could I do? After he screamed at me on the phone one day.... I finally gave Mark an ultimatum to finish the job in the next 9 days while I was out of town. Well, I came back and it was still not done. Things that were worked on looked very bad, misaligned shower door with a huge gap against the wall, another cheap lighting fixture he ordered instead of the one I told him to order. The custom base for the sink didn't have the right measurements. Exposed live electrical wiring... holes in the walls, loose exposed electrical sockets. The plumbing for the exposed sink was not all black as had been discussed but a multitude of colors and cheap plastics. Shower valve is crooked and not level... I could go on. I will likely have to demo much of what was done to make this right. BEWARE OF MARK AND MLC! Look at my google review for pics of just some of the bad work.

The work that was started remains incomplete. Incomplete electrical. We had agreed to smart switches with dimmers. Mark installed regular switches, many in the wrong place, and several don't work. Incomplete pocket door. He framed it and decided to stop there. Incomplete window install: Mark installed it in the wrong place and brought brick that's not even close to matching. He didn't bother to start: Paint, trim, island over the stairs, kitchen cabinets Most weeks no one shows up, and if they do, I'm surprised if they stay for more than an hour. Several of his contractors came to my house saying they hadn't been payed. He blames them when they inevitably do the work wrong because of his rushed directions. The subcontractors say they have barely met Mark Lovell. He's stopped answering my calls and based on what I'm seeing from other reviews, I would be shocked if he turns his business around. His most recent text in response to my concern about his recent poor reviews and how they matched my experience was "We are behind". Mark came in with a great sales pitch but doesn't follow through on his promises. Most weeks I would get a text saying things like: Electricians will be there Monday, painters Tuesday, cabinets Wednesday, everything completed in 2 week. Even more, concrete that was poured was sloppily spilled all over our yard. Equipment he and his teams used was left scattered across the property for weeks. As he suddenly stopped our project repeatedly blaming the weather and other supposed mechanical issues, he rattled off excuse after excuse as to why he was unable to finish his job until JUNE 2023, six months after he started the project. This was when we finally saw him again, and it was the last. Worst of all, Vince Hopkins collected money in December. In June we decided to terminate his employment with us after continuation of lackluster work. He agreed to a partial refund of the deposits he collected when starting, though he never delivered. Paid him half up front, then after numerous delays, he started work, but delays continued and he stated he needed more money to pay for help and materials to complete the job, so I paid him over $2950, just $200 short of the total cost, but then the work was not finished and what had been done was very shoddy, including cutting all the flooring and many of the baseboards too short, using the wrong drywall and not installing insulation in the wall, not smoothing out the drywall, leaving divots and bumps in it, then painting over it , and breaking two tiles in my bathroom floor that could not be replaced. After 7 weeks of continued broken promises to come and complete the job and fix the problems, I hired another contractor, who had to tear out almost everything that had been done to redo it, and buying new and additional materials, costing $2,000. He refused to refund the $2,000 to me, so I filed a civil suit against him, but now he has skipped out and could not be served. He is registered with the state of Colorado, and I am contacting them about this, have filed a complaint with the BBB, and I'm going to try and find him, so he can be served to appear in court. Even my other contractor offered to testify against him because of the horrible work he did.

Rather than acting with integrity, the business elected to tell a lie, as the project was likely not lucrative enough for them. I made no reference to my budget, but the business assumed I would not be interested in paying their prices. I would like to offer a two-star rating, though, as the communication was quite prompt.
