Scheduling in the spring is hard, but it felt like the first clear days after we accepted the quote the work started. Work was fast, the resulting product was as promised. Review update below: Buyer Beware. It has been less than a year since we had work done by Home Pros. My first clue should have been when they were at our house giving a quote. Mr. Leonard kept saying, "We get good reviews" over and over. He quoted us $2500 for our deck. When we said we were going to look around, he lowered it to $2000. When we said we were still going to look around, he gave us another $300 off. After he left, I looked up the reviews. I was shocked to see that the "5 star" reviews all came from him and his immediate family members all with the same last name. We didn't cancel because we had a lot going on at the time, but let me tell you what to expect: We chose "English Walnut". You tell me if this red paint looks like English Walnut to you or not. We were sold on "the best deck stain available". You tell me if after a year, this looks like the best available to you. After they finished, we had to call them back for another coat because it was horribly uneven and some spots were missed. Despite that, no sanding was done, no nails were pounded down, and the "quality stain" we supposedly paid for looks like this due to RAIN. Bottom line, we were SCAMMED. Do not trust these people. The good reviews are from them themselves. When he was here, I even called him on that, and he said, "Well, you know how it goes...". And now, you do too. Pics attached. *Update: In response to the business owner's comments on my review, I can understand why he'd be defensive, but I stand by what I say. We called this company back twice (for a total of three visits) because they had done minimal prep work before starting. Part of their sell was that they'd sand down the rough spots and pound nails down if sticking up, which seems like standard protocol to me, and neither of these things were done. After they left the first time, the layers of stain were so poorly done along the railing that some spots looked like they had one layer and others looked like they had three layers, resulting in completely different colors along the same railing that was too obvious to ignore. What I did not mention in my first review but feel compelled to now is that in addition to this, several items under the deck were not covered or protected as promised either. Unfortunately, both our hot tub and our air conditioning unit directly below had several splashes of stain on them, along with multiple other items. Yes, it's true that we have a large Labrador, but few of these spots can be attributed to him. Regardless, in my opinion, "the best stain available" with adequate prep would not look like this after two short months. People have pets. I didn't expect to have to wear ballet slippers going outside. We have gates in places that do not allow our dog access to any of the areas pictured in these photos with the exception of the spot outside of our sliding glass door. In fact, the area with the worst damage of peeling and stripping is an area that NEITHER pets OR people walk on. That damage was caused by rain. I'm clearly not the only one with this experience. Google it. As much as I prefer to support local businesses, some just don't deserve it. This company is highly dishonest. I heard after the fact that they used to go by Procraft but changed their name due to negative reviews. It's my duty as a fellow Yelper to call things as I see them, and that's what I see. read more

We are disappointed with the workmanship and communication of their services. Leaving this review in hopes that staff can take feedback to improve services. It was what it was, it can be better going forward. Communication: - Don't make the client heavy lift with communications. You can be forward with estimates and give good clarity about what specific stages can be expected. We were given an extensive estimate with sanding promised before painting. On the day of, they came and literally layered paint on the surface. Not acceptable! - Don't just show up at the door of the client. Please be better at scheduling and keeping your staff in the know. In my experience, coordination among the staff is poor. Workmanship: - Please be professional with your craft. Shoe covers, gloves and keeping masks handy in today's time is essential. They stained our carpet while painting. Paint job was shoddy & inconsistent. In places, painted over leaves and debris on the deck. - Make sense of your services. You don't power wash a deck 1 month before painting. Please coordinate and plan the stages of the work properly. read more

The receptionists are being outsourced, so they are not located with the guys who are working at the company. This means they cannot confirm the schedule for a free quote, nor do they have the ability to reschedule it. I was told that someone else was going to contact me for a quote, but I never heard back initially. After calling them for the fourth time, I got a text from Tom. Attached is the text exchanges with Tom, who also happened to be a Yelp reviewer for this business giving five stars ;) What a coincidence! We recently replaced several windows for which we needed some new trimming painted. We contacted Home Pros, who agreed to do what appeared to be a relatively easy and quick job. They never showed up to paint on the scheduled date. After we called them to set up a second date, they didn't show up on the agreed upon date. When yet a third date to paint was scheduled, they didn't show up on that date either. If our job was too small for your company, then let us know so we can move on with another contractor, but don't leave us hanging. The work was performed indoors beginning in August so weather wasn't an issue. The extra work, was trim work and was not done well. Repeating my earlier comment, had to hire another company to redo 3 rooms and I repainted 2 rooms myself. read more

These guys were responsive to any questions and explained all the steps. We gave them the wrong colors and when we ask if we could change they came through at no extra cost. The home turned out very nice, and the project was complete on time with no delays. Pricing was fair. Home Pros did a fine job, and we would highly recommend them. They were quick in both coming out to give me an estimate and coming out to do the work, but the work quality left something to be desired...or, at least not what I expected based on the work they do and what I was paying. The pressure washing roughed up the cedar rails and decking and I assumed it would not be left in that shape...wrong. Additionally,the stain was not uniform in application or in how the finish looked when they left. When I called to complain, the workman came back out to meagerly apply more finish. Does it look like a $3,500 job? No. Rough to the touch and still a lot of difference where the finish was absorbed, but it looks OK...from a distance. The worst thing was that a small plate my now-deceased son installed, announcing that we built the deck and when we did it, was stained over. One would have thought It would been unnecessary to specify a small sign like that shouldn't be stained, as well. Obviously not. read more

Read some interesting reviews from prior years on other sites. Reviews went 1 or 5 star nothing in-between. I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THEIR WORK. 5 STARS Cameron communicates very pragmatically. I was asked only to pay after I was asked if i was satisfied. Other home owners near me had work done prior and i was impressed. I am happy with the work they did on my 3 story house. Procraft was recommended by our contractor to finish the frame/molding/painting for our newly installed French door. Cameron said "no problem". We expected them to "finish" that area IE: sanding, wood putty, hiding nail holes , and whatever else needed to have it match the other framing in our home. Quoted 450.00 as it was to be extensive work..... What we received was a quick 20 min "touch up" used calking, and paint over old paint.. Was told by the painter, he did what his boss told him to do. Messaged Cameron about it, and he politely said it was "out of their expertise"! Poor communication I will never do business with Procraft. I was told they would start the day after 4th of July on a total house paint. Which they didn't and never communicated when they would start. I understand there were weather issues that comes with the Job. but the lack of communication was ridiculous Finally I was told from Tom they would start Monday July 25th or Tuesday July 26th. I came Home Monday evening to no work started so I texted Tom to make sure he would be there Tuesday I got a message back that said " My Brother is in charge of scheduling" This after all of my communication had been with tom. What a mess! Be aware of the fact that they do use a LOT of Sub-Contractors, which means that the labor works for Home Pros, not you: So you don't know what the heck you're dealing with or what level of quality of work or timeliness you can expect. I met with two of the three brothers, Lenard and Cam separately in order to nail down a few issues. Notes were taken, Sketches were drawn, and Dimensions were taken: The Sub _Contractor was told to "Just build it to code." There is no Project Management or oversight. When talking to one of the brothers the discussion got into the support beams, joist and the ledger board (basically all the stuff on the underside) and he was lost. So why was he there? It wasn't productive and Cam, my original guy decided it was vacation time, right in the middle of a deal closing and a sizeable down payment was dangling in the air. This is just the tip of the ice burg with these guys. I was a General Contractor myself for a number of years. I can no longer do it but I do know how's it's done. After it was finished it was so bad that I thought it better to pay a Professional Building Inspector then just argue with these people about what was wrong. The GIG report, complete with pictures was 10 pages long or so I (It had major safety violations). SO....once I explained what my next steps were going to be if they didn't fix it, they were willing to work with me per sa. After finding out how bad it was his Sub contractor disappeared off of the edge of the Earth and Home Pros had to resort to the Carpenter's Union Hall. Now that cost them! Major safety violation: Cantilever on landing screwed in place s/b bolted via plates (can be moved 10 inches" by hand) Screws used on all hangers under deck s/b ring shank Joist Brites The bottom stair is over 11" to the concrete slab they poured. 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 allowed 14 stairs duh. Stairs had to be moved out so one side could be serviced. (Item was on drawings....1FT out, is now 3".) Railing on stairs don't line up with with rails on deck. Deck boards not staggered. Least not the, Gate isn't square. RUN run run. read more

The Crew showed up right on time and did loads of prep work. They were very responsive to any questions and explained all steps. Plus they cleaned up every day, which my wife liked. The home turned out very nice, and they did our large deck as well. The deck needed several new boards and we were pleased with the carpentry. The finish really restored the deck and rails. Pricing was fair and we interviewed 6 paint companies. All in all, it was a fine job, and we would highly recommend Home Pros. read more

Had our 2 story home painted by HomePros. Knowledgeable, had good recommendations as to what needed to be done. Workmanship was very good. The measure of any business is best shown in what they do when things go a bit wrong. Near the end of our job the foreman had a family emergency, and so cleanup work did not get fully complete. The timeline was very tight and yet Cameron took the contract. They delivered on time. When there were questions regarding some of the work it was made right by sending people to work the situation until it was corrected. Poor communication; Provided an estimate which we signed off on but after that the service has been very poor; My wife was promised a return call twice in two weeks but nothing; I called and despite an apology and a promised return call, I've heard nothing. Its now been over a month since we heard from Cam who did the estimate. To cap it all they were supposed to be here today to start the job and they did not show up. Let me start here with a quote from a review I READ TOO LATE - "If Cam shows up at your door, slam it quickly and run!! They are awful!! Had to hire another painting company to correct their mistakes." So if Tom (estimator) or Cameron (boss) show up RUN!!! After choosing HomePros for both paint and repairs I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND them. The HomePros team that gave me an estimate only does the painting you are on your own for repairs. You can do your own, hire your own or hire their contractor. I chose to hire theirs with the understanding they would do a good job. I now have additional repairs and painting to do. In places my home has more damage (roof and siding) than before they showed up. Very difficult to communicate with the painting/construction crew or their boss (Cameron). Trying to get a straight answer from HomePros was not possible. HomePros reply may indicate it is my fault as many of the other replys also blame the owners but do your own search of reviews. Not all reviews are bad but I am very unpleased by their work. There is not enough room to list all that went wrong. You may not be saving anything by hiring HomePros. read more
