I really don't get all the hate for this place. It's a great local little handmade pumpkin patch for those of us that just can't get to a "real" patch because of multiple factors when dealing with an unpredictable toddler. The staff is friendly and they always smile; had no issues being assisted with finding parking onsite, and walked to the tent for tickets. We decided to go on the last hottest day of October, and enjoyed our visit! My son loved picking up and touching the last remaining pumpkins, plenty of which were still in perfect carving condition. There were some pumpkins that were clearly rotting that could've been removed prior to this place opening, but hey - it's not the end of the world. My son enjoyed watching the tractor go around the patch with other visitors onboard the hay trailer. He wasn't brave enough this year. There's food trucks and cider available for purchase, and really enjoyed their apple cider donuts that were tiny and cute! The vendors selling toys, bubbles, and other things were a ripoff, so I would stay clear. The portion for the chicken nuggets and fries was decent and worked out well for a shared lunch. Take it for what it is and know that if you have kids 5 and up, this place isn't it. read more

Such a bad example of a money grab, fall festival. This place cost us $22 for a family of three to just enter. That ticket DOES NOT include a pumpkin or anything worthwhile. Once inside, they sell burnt or still frozen (your choice) cheese arepas, bags of popcorn, lemonade, water, stale donuts and crappy coffee. All totally overpriced. The line for the free hayride, which makes one small loop, is too long to ask your impatient kid to wait for. Then to buy 3 pumpkins (which they probably picked up at Walmart or Trader Joe's) it cost us $35!!!! Look at my photos. The only slightly cute things they had were the pumpkin fling and the photo op inside a pumpkin cutout. But of course the pumpkin fling was not cheap. I highly recommend avoiding this fall festival if you're thinking about going. Also, there's boatloads of traffic and no parking. Just go somewhere else. Any other farm is better. Hell, Trader Joes is better!! read more

Took my kids here to check out the pumpkin farm and other well advertised activities I read about in SI Parent. We may have stayed here for an hr if that. That's enough. GPS was confusing and this place was a little hard to find but once we got there it was cool. On site parking, small fee to enter and they take cards...place is small. Several trucks were lined up selling items, bummer some took cash only. Cute little bonfire station to do s'mores. Tiny little maze area for small kiddies. Pumpkin patch was cute, beautiful colors, found what we were looking for, little photo ops available, in and out. Cute little place. Would come back if I'm in the area, wouldn't travel far to come here. read more

Saturday morning, throughout the season (April-November), this farmstand offers up locally-grown produce at amazing prices, as well as fresh-baked bread, cheeses, jams, etc. Associated with Old Richmond town, there are also a couple of historic displays (a larger educational center is in the works), and a few animals to see! This place is shit. If you have little kids, have no other options and have never been to an actual farm/pumpkin patch, I guess it's ok. But even then, no. It's not a pumpkin patch, it's a small 40x40' patch of dried grass with pumpkins scattered in it (see pic). The "corn maze" is maybe 20x20' and is really only 4'-high sticks in the ground with some dried corn stalks around. They don't have apple cider and the apple pie is from the grocery store. I wouldn't recommend Decker Farm to my worst enemies because it's that bad. read more

Great place for a school trip! They've got a cute little corn maze, lots of places to sit, a hay ride, goats and chickens and the kids left w their own mid sized pumpkin. The employees are very nice especially Harry who was our guide for the day. read more

This isn't even a farm it's someone's backyard where they dumped a bunch of pumpkins in a field and let little kids go pick them. I should always listen to these reviews going forward. A child of about seven years old apparently manned the gate and yelled to us from a great distance away that they were closed. Yelled. No apology, no explanation. Yelled at us like we were wolves coming for his flock and for his dad to fetch his gun. Well that's how it felt anyway. So we sauntered our way back to our car but while we did so. The kid kept yelling, "We're closed!" as if we weren't leaving fast enough. Yeah, I don't think we'll be back. read more

This is one of those times when I really wish I had taken a few minutes to look at Yelp prior to visiting this place. The low rating on here really speaks for itself. Never, ever again. I usually do look at Yelp but since I've been very busy lately, it was a kind of spur-of-the-moment thing. My husband and I found ourselves here one October afternoon looking for pumpkins to decorate our home with. What we found instead was an inflated admission fee and the most pathetic looking pumpkin patch I've ever seen in my life. All I saw were damaged pumpkins scattered across a dried up, half-deserted field as if someone carelessly tossed them there. These broken pumpkins covered a small section on this "farm" leaving us to wonder and say "where's the rest?" If you do decide to come here, keep in mind you'll be hauling around 10-15 pound pumpkins in your arms because Decker Farms doesn't seem to know the value of wagons. As we were leaving, I heard a small child say to her mom "this is the worst day of pumpkin picking ever." I felt even worse - poor kid. As we all know, children don't hold back how they really feel, they just tell it like it is. I'm sure they won't be returning. Needless to say, neither will we. All I can think of now is...I want my $12 dollars back. read more

It was something to do on a fall day. However, $6 a person for a "pumpkin patch" that offers a short hay ride and children's corn maze but doesn't include a free pumpkin. Not worth the admission price. Won't be visiting this farm again soon. read more

After checking the website I thought this place would be a win with my toddler and family. I thought wrong... This place was a serious bust. Where to start? the website said the parking lot was free and available, but once there the workers said it was full so we found parking on the side streets. When we were entering we seen at least 9 empty spots :/ Well after paying $5 each we walk in to see a corn maze that had see thru walls. Go to use the bathroom and instantly was grossed out ... Yuck! As we are looking around we see a sign saying the hay ride is closed. Then we go to let the kids ride the pony , another $5 each child ... The pony looked depressed and tired and possibly pregnant, poor thing struggled to pull the wagon of 3 kids in a 9ft circle. I asked a worker where are the animals to feed and pet, he points to the chickens that were pecking at eachother behind a fence. We stared at the pathetic looking chickens and it felt like we were watching an animal cruelty commercial. My 3 yr old asked why are all the animals sad? We walked over to the last remaining activity, to pick a pumpkin... Ugh.. broken pumpkins, no stems on most, and not enough small ones for kids to be able to hold (that weren't broken). Then we overpay, again, for these busted looking pumpkins ... After a few minutes struggling to find a brush to let the kids paint we gave up. It was a bit chilly so I try to get myself a cup of coffee and see the sign $2 for coffee, $2 hotdogs and I look at the bread that's sitting outside uncovered and the coffee pot that had spilled everywhere .. I gave up. I had to apologize to everyone for being the one who suggested this crappy place. I'm still so annoyed at the audacity they have for charging anyone to get in and then charge for everything! Nothing is included .. except for the fungus that was growing into its own eco system in the port a pottys ... Horrible horrible .. I will never ever return here and prey for those poor animals. We would've been better off pumpkin picking at the supermarket. read more

Giving this place one star is generous. From afar this looks decent, however once you enter you realize this place is a dump. The alleged "pumpkin patch" is someone's backyard with about 50 pumpkins thrown around. Also NO CIDER OR APPLE CIDER DOUGHNUTS what type of establishment doesn't have these fall necessities?? took the families who participate in our non-profit program for pumpkin picking. When the staff arrived a woman approached us and the first thing she said was you cannot park in this parking lot. No good morning, no smile nothing. The older woman who directed our children never once smiled, gave any history or information about the animals the children were seeing. The prople who put our pumpkins in the bag never looked up or smiled. There was no warmth or any enthusiasm among any of the staff. Our program will not return next year. read more

I wish I could rate this a Zero!! I went yesterday, October 20th 2013 with my family of 9. The man in the front says oh I'll give you a deal on admission price. it came out to 37 dollars. When I said how is that a deal he said its a good deal I said its simple math... so I just brushed it off and walked away. There was a terrible vendor who served tasteless food and stale bread charged 22 for 2 hamburgers and 2 shishkabobs. Then we began to look for pumpkins.... The pumpkins were all brusied and mot were missing the stem. We finally found 2 ok pumpkins paid more money to buy them and went to find a spot to paint them. When we asked the woman who was giving out the paint where are the brushes, she said u have to find one on the table. We finally found one after 20 minutes and the kids were painting their pumpkins. The 2 minute hayride we waited on line for an hour to get on and the man who was driving it is obviously not all there, he stared everyone down with a nasty look. The half dead animals were huddling together for warmth they must be sick. The shuttle bus driver almost ran us over. Save your money and go elsewhere this place is definitely not worth anything!!! read more

I should've really listened to the reviews but I wanted to see for myself. Two women working at the entrance are talking amongst themselves as they see us standing there was the first sign to turn around and leave. I found that extremely rude. They advertised face painting.. Yeah?? Where? There was a miserable pumpkin patch. A few chickens and three goats. No pony rides because there were no ponies. A stand where you can make sand art and a small concession stand. The hay ride didn't look to exciting. The corn maze was mediocre. Good for small children maybe. Upon leaving, the two woman are still there talking up a storm watching us as we leave. No thank you for coming. Nothing! It was a waste of a toll and a waste of $20 for a family of 4. read more

My school came here last year and had a lot of fun, but I was not happy with how things were handled this year. Tried booking another 3rd grade class trip here and they require a deposit, which is fine. We sent out our deposit, but sadly it never made it to them. Instead of them calling and being persistent, one email was sent stating the trip was being cancelled (few days before the date) due to the fact that the deposit was not received. I tried calling to work it out and even offered to pay by credit card, or even do a self-guided tour with our class, but they had already booked someone else. They were not very accommodating except for offering a different tour for November. Needless to say I was fed up at this point and did not want to go at all. The 3rd grade classes were extremely upset that they were not going to go on the trip. Can't say I would like to try again next year...guess we'll try another farm for pumpkin picking that probably isnt as expensive either! read more
