We were excited to celebrate my husband's 40th at this Michelin Star restaurant in Valle, especially with a party of 12 where each couple was spending upwards of $150 for their meals. Unfortunately, the evening fell dramatically short of expectations. We arrived around 6:00 PM and were seated by 6:15. Water and bread were brought out, but the bread was incredibly stale and set a poor tone for a premium dining experience. We had brought a bottle and opened it for sharing around 6:50 PM, yet we were not offered other beverages upon our arrival as one would typically expect. The first course of oysters and ceviche arrived around 7:10 PM, and then nearly an hour passed with no sign of the next course. By 8:30 PM (about 2.5 hours in), we had only two courses and our own wine bottle, with no water refills or additional drinks offered despite the long wait. When a member of our party raised concerns, the waiter's response was indifferent and unhelpful, with no proactive effort to fix the situation or reassure us. The main chef appeared to not present that night, which may explain some inconsistency, but staff still needed to communicate delays and manage expectations. The third and fourth courses, plus an extra side of quails we ordered upon arrival, finally arrived after the 2.5-hour mark. The quail was fine, but the roasted seabass was overly salty and the accompanying vegetables were hard, not fork tender--basically inedible as a side. The mussels in the fourth course were great, but they did not redeem the sequence. The overall pacing, service attitude, and dish execution did not reflect the standards one expects from a Michelin Star restaurant, especially for a special occasion. As we were leaving, staff appeared to mock our dinner party and our complaints, which was deeply disrespectful and embarrassing for a group of guests. This conduct, combined with the delays and inconsistent kitchen management, left us feeling not just disappointed but disrespected. Notes: This restaurant recently opened a second location near our Northpark neighborhood in San Diego. It's a shame they chose to expand before fixing the service issues at the original establishment, to ensure things are truly impeccable before inviting more guests to the believe in the brand. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and uses it to refine timing, communication, and consistency so future guests can actually enjoy the promise of what they offer.

We are total foodies and this is one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Everything we had was excellent, from the arugula and beat salad to the ribeye steak cooked and seasoned to perfection. Oysters were fabulous and the bread served with the bone marrow was off the hook!

Deckman's en el Mogor es una mis favoritas experiencias de Valle. Les recomiendo ir por lo menos una ves para probar la rica comida que tienen.

I have been coming here for years but each time I've been the quality has gone down :( First time here was more than a decade ago- and it was fabulous but like I said each time the food has been a little less great and prices are high. This last time I went we actually stopped and got food after we left because we were still hungry. The venue itself is beautiful and it's definitely a great spot- just wish food was bigger portions and as tasty as it used to be.

Baja Fine Dining, Barefoot Soul Deckman's is what happens when world-class technique meets the land it stands on. Everything here feels connected--smoke from the open fire, wine from the valley, ingredients pulled from the garden and sea. It's high-end without the ego, rustic without cutting corners. The views are unreal, the pacing is perfect, and every bite reminds you why you made the drive. This isn't just a meal--it's Baja at its best, plated.

What a lovely find! The food was exceptional....get the rib eye, you won't regret it! It's worth it. The experience was lovely. The view is perfect for a good sunset. Unfortunately we had too many clouds for a good viewing. Gentle reminder to bring a jacket as it does get cool there when the sun starts to go down. Attire is business casual mostly. There is a little bit of a walk to get to the bathrooms so be aware if you're mobility challenged. Service was also very good. If you're dining solo, sit at the Chef's table for a bird eye view of the culinary scene.

Quintessential Mexican, country, outdoor cook-out vibe. Wow! One of its kind. We wine tasted next door and conveniently walked over to dinner here. You'll notice a string lights but the fire cooked smell of meats and veggies is what draws you in. And once you walk in, you're surrounded by hay stacked walls and a large cook-out fire. Customer service is spot-on. Our visit was the end of January and as soon as the sun set, it was very cold. They offer blanket and fire heaters because it's an open space. The oysters were TO DIE FOR! So fresh and savory. A dozen was worth it. The bone marrow was equally good. And luckily I had enough space for the mussels with the Spanish base soup. We ordered the steak but it was subpar compared to the appetizers. Cocktail margarita was good but barely tasted the alcohol.

    The chocolate dessert was YUMmmmy.

Enjoyed everything we ordered. The rib-eye was tasty. We also had the 7-course meal, it was great. Highly recommend the 7-course meal for sea food lovers. Loved the salad and bread basket! They asked several times if anyone had any food allergies (the hostess, the waiter & someone else). I guess there was a bad experience somewhere. ‍ Our waiter disappeared here and there but the other staff were quick and attentive. A bit pricey compared to other places but well worth the money because of the food and ambiance. The vineyard view was beautiful. Being in the moment with those you love made it special.

Im a regular out in the Valle. Deckmans is easy to find. Directly off main road. So that was a plus. You don't need a 4x4 to get there. Food was overall excellent. We opted for the chefs 7 plate omekaze including wine pairing. Best wine of the night was the 2018 4 red blend that was paired with the 6th dish. The Malbec paired with the lechon (7th dish) is an honorable mention. We added 2 dishes. The sardine was the star dish of the night. It had a surprising cheese undertone. It was amazing. Service...this is where they need the most help. They smile but tolerate you is how I would describe it. If you speak both English and Spanish...just go with English. Your Spanish will likely annoy them. We happen to get a wait person who was visibly miserable due to the cold weather. But the support staff was much better. So it balanced out. So your likely looking at the mixed reviews and thinking wtf. Well it was a bit of mixed experience. That's what it delvers. 3.5 to 4

Amazing all around. Came to celebrate a friend's birthday with a group of 4 for dinner. The staff were all so friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is beautiful and there are so many amazing views throughout the space. The cocktails were so delicious. We only tried the mezcal sour and carajillo. The carajillo was made with mezcal and it was the perfect pairing of mezcal and espresso! We ordered the yellowtail crudo, oysters, risotto, scallops, bone marrow, and ribeye steak. Between the 4 of us it was just enough and so flavorful. The standouts were the ribeye, scallops, and bone marrow. Highly highly recommend!

Definitely worth it. I enjoyed everything under a night sky, full of stars. Let's start with the decor, it was so beautiful. I love the lighting by candles. Out personal heaters and blankets. The restrooms were very beautiful love the farmhouse style. I love the rustic feel and the views of the vineyards. We enjoyed some fantastic oysters. The bone marrow was fantastic out of this world. The steak with the mashed potatoes was not like any steak I've ever had before. It was cooked to chef recommendations, and was a mouthful of flavor. I enjoyed the dessert, the wine and the espresso martini. We also did some shots of mezcal. The service was fantastic. Everybody was so kind, everybody was so sweet and they definitely had great attentive manners. I cannot wait to go back and take more friends with me.

I'd give Deckman's 4.5 all in all. The kitchen is a solid 5. The steak tartare and roasted quail were unreal. So good. The majority of the food was just a little too cool, however. Not sure if it's because the kitchen is outdoors and we ate on an unseasonably cold day, but, those logistical issues do have an impact on the dining experience. The ambiance was on the more rustic side as the restaurant is literally outside on the dirt and they build the walls with bales of hay. The tables and chairs could be a bit on a higher end side. It's great for lunch but not sure how it would play out for dinner. That said Deckman's uses a more "traditional" cooking technique, which I certainly appreciated especially compared to Fauna, which is a bit more "edgy." My guess is this place just needs a bit of time to grow into itself, but, if they smooth out some of the rough edges it has the capacity to become a gastronomic force to be reckoned with. I would absolutely go back and suggest giving it a try.

Delicious meal, good service & atmosphere. They had no trouble accommodating our party of 30 people and did very wonderful job accommodating our vegan friend.

As a result, the restaurant was not crowded, but they were out of several menu items. The restaurant is spacious and very color coordinated. The armrests on the chairs are at a slightly odd height for me but very aesthetic. This restaurant is family-run by a father and son duo. The father was cooking while his son was on the front end of things. The service was super friendly and I really appreciated that he explained the menu thoroughly to us. They were out of beef kabob and chicken shawarma (my go-to). I opted for the liver plate with fries, and also tried a bite of beef shawarma. We were also served a complimentary lentil soup as an appetizer. The soup was DELICIOUS. Soft and warm and comforting, with vermicelli bits in it. It was incredibly flavorful and soothing, something I would crave on cold days, sick days, any days really. I will definitely be finding recipes and attempting to make this myself. Middle Eastern places always have the most delicious, freshly fried fries, 10/10 no notes especially with ketchup (sue me, I'm basic XD). My grilled liver hit the spot. I think my one critique would be that because the pieces were quite large, some parts were quite tough. The roast onions and tomatoes had a good smoky char, and the portions were generous. After I polished off my first cube, the son swung by and set a grilled jalapeño down in front of me, saying that his father recommended parting it with the liver. It's personal touches like this that make me really love a local, family owned place! And his father was definitely right about the jalapeño. That and the pickled cabbage were the perfect complement for the rich, earthy liver. Prices were fair and portions were huge. The service was standout here as well. I would LOVE to come back and try their lamb dishes, and I definitely anticipate updating to a 5 star review then.

I worry about the food hall as it has seen multiple businesses start up and then fold because of the inconsistent customer volume. I think it's a nice stop for those who work nearby and want to pick up lunch from one of the vendors. After working hours however, it becomes a ghost town which has led to the closure of the two eateries that were set up directly in front of the food hall. I came by a month ago to pick up some food to go. The main menu had four to six choices in the categories of appetizers, sides, soups, vegetables, chow mein, and fried rice. The protein-based entrees featured BBQ pork, beef, chicken, and shrimp. Of these, chicken had the most available selections. There was also a separate menu listing the daily specials. Nearly all of them cost less than $10 and then you could add an appetizer and fountain drink for an additional $4.85. My pick was the BBQ Pork Chow Mein. The black takeout container was filled and given to me in about ten minutes. The portion size was decent for the price which was less than $15. The pork pieces were on the fattier side. The flavor wasn't too salty as some places can load up on MSG, but that wasn't the case here. The quality of this item was middle of the road average which was why I gave a three star rating for my takeout experience at Little Chef.
