Lemon mint. The menu has it has a frozen drink but I asked for the traditional version. Very refreshing.

While walking around beautiful La Jolla, we decided to stop by Zoya Mediterranean Pizza & Bar for a late lunch. The service was friendly and efficient, and our food arrived within about 10 minutes of ordering. The three of us shared the Mezze Board and the Chicken Shawarma, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The portions were generous and more than enough for the three of us. We chose to sit outside and enjoyed the beautiful La Jolla atmosphere, but the inside of the restaurant looked modern, inviting, and well-designed. Overall, it was a great dining experience, and I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

I'm not a huge Mediterranean foodie, but my wife is. I have to say, this place changed my mind. Generous portions, fantastic customer service and good value for the money. This is a place to go if you're in the mood for Mediterranean. No ocean view, but right downtown and good for people watching.

Tried this cute Mediterranean restaurant in downtown La Jolla! We got the zoya trio (hummus, muhammara, and baba ghanoush dips served with pita bread and carrots) and the beef tenderloin kebab to share between 2 people. All of the dips were delicious and the beef tenderloin was tender with good flavor! The restaurant did get quite busy later in the evening and so service became slow towards the end of our meal, but all the staff were very kind! They have several sharing platters on their menu, so it would be a nice place to go with a large group of people.

The Zoya trio was really yummy, every single dip was delicious and they gave us extra pita bread for only 1$! They give you a lot of all 3 dips you choose, so we ran out of pita bread quickly. The beef platter was just ok, beef was decent but felt like it was a lot of salad and not that much beef. Food came out really quick but then it got very busy and it was difficult to flag down a waiter to get our check.

Where do I start? This place was superb. I had a party of seven from work. Reservation experience was great. We called to add a couple extra people, and then those people didn't show; they rolled with the punches. The table was set when we got there. Service throughout was friendly, prompt, over and above. Ambiance was great, in a very important way: There was nice music, but you could hear yourself think! Nobody had to repeat themselves a million times. Perfect sound level for a group our size. But the food was the absolute star of the show. Literally everything was perfect. For shareable appetizers, we got both the trio and the mezze plate. It was basically hummus flights, with pita triangles and multicolored carrots. All the hummus types were delicious. But a special shout-out to the truffle hummus--it was divine. It was very truffle-y, but it was also very light and creamy. Somehow that's not a combo I expected. Next, I'm already a falafel fan, but good *Lord* their falafel was unreal. Some kind of perfect crispiness on the outside and soft flakiness inside that I've never experienced before in falafel. I asked the server what he'd recommend, and he said beef kebab. I got the beef kebab. He was not wrong. The meat itself was sumptuous. And I just moved from Texas, where every other backyard BBQ has someone smoking their brisket for 18 hours. This was the kind of cook where even the marbling melts in your mouth. Even the carrots were good, I don't know what to tell ya. 10/10.

The food here is really great and I loved sitting outside on the patio. For Mediterranean, it's a little expensive which is unfortunate because it is really great but $78 for lunch is kinda crazy even in La Jolla. That was just for 2 plates and no drinks or appetizers. I might come back for a special occasion.

Incredible mediterranean food! The variety of dips and the flavorful / juicy meats makes this place a stand out in San Diego. Everything is incredibly fresh and not to mention fantastic presentation. For the price I was also surprised by the portions - extremely generous. We fed 5 people for $120 (not including drinks) and we had leftovers. Really nice spot to come for family style and it's walking distance to the water for a nice stroll after a big meal! I will absolutely be coming back.

Okay, amazing highs and amazing lows. First the good: The food is exceptional. Clearly made with passion by experienced cooks. The menu is great, there's something for everyone and the each dish we had was fantastic. Not a single complaint. The service? Also excellent. Attentive, friendly, helpful. The prices? Surprisingly reasonable considering you're in the middle of a tourist hot spot and on the Main Street! Would I eat here again? Absolutely! Now the one negative...and it makes you second guess a few things: The restroom was absolutely disgusting!! Like walk in, turn around and walk out!! Used tissue, urine and even feces all over the place! I don't understand it. The restaurant is perfectly clean but the bathroom was an absolute nightmare.

We were waking around La Jolla San meeded a nivel and a sip. We stopped in ambas the Blair made hummus..... so good. The pita bread was fresh out of the oven and yummy. Will have to go back to try the menu.

I dropped by a little over a month ago after the La Jolla Art & Wine festival with some friends and this was a cute little gem of a place to grab a bite with my girlfriends. The interior is super cute & aesthetic and is set up like a cafe, so probably best for smaller parties. We ordered the Zoya trio to share and I got the chicken shawarma bowl for my entree. Out of the trio (hummus, muhammara, baba ghanoush), my favorite was surprisingly the muhammara and I'm usually not a fan of red pepper in general. Very tasty and great flavor! I just wish there was more pita, as we had a ton of the dip remaining. The chicken bowl was tasty and the chicken was seasoned well, but overall a bit dry. It came with a dollop of dip, but this time there wasn't enough of it. Thankfully I was able to use the dips from the trio! The salad was fresh, but too lightly dressed and super plain. I thought there would be tomatoes or feta (which would have added some much needed moisture) at least but it was just spring mix seemingly tossed with lemon juice and a bit of olive oil. I hate to give this place 3 stars as it has a lot of potential, but another aspect that was missing for me was the service. Don't get me wrong, all the servers were super nice and friendly, but they totally forgot my entree so I was sitting there for almost 10 minutes while my friends got theirs. After I was finally able to flag someone down, I saw them trying to figure it out on the side, realize that they forgot/delivered my dish to someone else, and then rush remake it. Then after it got dropped off at the table, they didn't even acknowledge that they made a mistake and pretended that it was just a minor delay. And in general, the service overall was on the slow side. I know they're new so they still have some kinks to work out. I would be willing to give them another try in a few months after they're more settled and if I was in the area. I do love that they're dog friendly!

Unique mediterranean place with pizza! I've never tried dates on a pizza before and it was definitely interesting. If you love dates, I definitely recommend the "Take Me On A Date" pizza. Make sure to add chicken for extra flavor. It is definitely on the sweeter side but the chicken adds in the perfect contrast. If you're not feeling pizza, try the Small Family Platter to experience a little bit of everything! The service was amazing! Everyone was so attentive and would check in on us every so often asking about the food as well :) This is a perfect place for family and friends

So much yes to this spot! The food is fire! We got the Zoya Trio. It was perfect! Such a great addition. We also got the chicken kebab platter. The chicken was literally cooked to perfection. The taziki was also amazing! The salad was also great. Next time I'm in La Jolla, I'll head back to Zoya and have a feast! Our server was also really kind and efficient. Overall, it's a GREAT dinner spot.

The place was lively, but luck was on our side: one perfect booth remained for the four of us sweet seekers. We settled in and immediately starting gabbing (versus checking out the menu). George came over to take our order. Without even glancing at the dessert menu (a bold move, I'll admit), I asked for one of each dessert to share--paired, of course, with a couple glasses of Scarpetta Rosé bubbles (okay so I glanced at te wine menu). Priorities . What arrived was equal parts surprise and delight. First, a charming little glass jar filled with lightly whipped crème fraîche and topped with salted caramel--simple, elegant, and absolutely delicious. And then... the "hamburger." Cue the table going completely silent. Naturally, we had questions. Our server walked us through this masterpiece from the bottom up: a golden caramel cake "bun," topped with a chocolate-coated ice cream "patty," a delicate mango gelée "cheese," and even "pickles" made from matcha cake. Finished with a second warm cake layer and a touch of garnish we were too excited to fully catch--because at that point, we were already diving in. The contrast of warm cake, cool ice cream, and rich chocolate was nothing short of fantastic. Playful, unexpected, and genuinely delicious--exactly the kind of dessert experience you hope to stumble upon. Thank you, The Whaling Bar, for the sweet surprises. We'll absolutely be back--next time for martinis, and I've already been told the duck meatballs are not to be missed.

AMBIANCE Parking: La Jolla streets can get pretty busy. There's a small plaza and paid street parking as well - for that, you may have to circle for a bit. Seating: Inside seating with different variations from a booth, table, and bar. Great for individuals or large groups All depending how you want to set the mood from a fun date night Vibes: Welcome to La Jolla! A part of San Diego, moreover the upscale part of it. Plenty of good eats and restaurants with a small business feel. Le Coq itself is located in a historic building with mix aesthetics of it's original 1930s character to it's nice retro 1970s supper-club aesthetic. Dim lighting, brick and velvet design with mirrors and different flavors of music based on the dj. An upscale feel but no pressure for it. FOOD Stuffed Chicken Wings (Recommend) I've seen Southeast Asian stuffed chicken wings but to see what French flavors to put into it was interesting. You got tsukane (Japanese meatball) speck (ham), raclette (cheese) with egg yolk and soy sauce for flavorings. It's quite the mix of flavors for a savory and rich umami flavor. Char Sui Pork Collar (Highly Recommend) Another comforting Asian dish with signature char sui sauce. The pork was tender, juicy, and rich. The mix of beet glaze and hot mustard brought additional flavors and textures of sweetness and creaminess. This was my favorite. CUSTOMER SERVICE Awesome! Professional, friendly, and knowledgable about the menu. They're presence contributed to a positive experience. TL;DR OVERALL 4.5 Stars. Creative food, beautiful atmosphere, and a dining experience that feels distinctly San Diego. This isn't your traditional French steakhouse. Such an interesting contrast of light and dark. The bar area is light and vibrant and then there's a sudden shift into a moody velvet covered interior. The bar and dining room serve different menus FYI. Lots of very interesting dishes on the menu, great for sharing. We got the tomahawk pork chop, the gnocchi, and some steaks. The pork chop was beautifully cooked with fat that just melted in your mouth, but it was pretty fatty and rather on the bland side, don't know that I would recommend that. Steaks were great though I wouldn't necessarily recommend as I think there are other more interesting things on the menu. We had a side of green beans that was really great. Love the balance of salt, fat, and the ume vinegar. Star of the show was really the gnocchi in my opinion. They were prepared like scallops and looked like scallops, shaped similarly and seared on both sides. Amazing texture. The flavor of the green sauce is pure magic on top. And the duck confit takes it to the next level making it a dish I'd be perfectly happy with just eating that alone. Cocktails were good though nothing blew me away on that front either. Creative, but not the best. Had the Puebla Carajillo and it tasted kinda like a watery cold brew, didn't taste the Licor 43 at all. Then had the monte carlo which was like a banana old fashioned, but just really fake banana taste. Didn't think either were super well balanced. Finished off with the tableside mousse for dessert. Kind of a seemingly fun thing, but felt kinda awkward picking out toppings and trying to decide among the table who would or wouldn't want some of it. Really nice texture and sweetness. There's a late night happy hour as well and it seems like this place has some fun vibes on the weekend based on their instagram. Maybe only on certain nights? I'd like to go back for a night like that and check out the scene. Otherwise I think Animae will remain my preferred choice for a dining room experience.
