This company was recommended by my realtor, so I had faith I would have a good experience. They told me installation would take 3-5 days so I rented a hotel room for the duration as my condo is very small. I came in to check the first day and they had most of it done, which was great. They never came back. When they called for the rest of my payment, they promised to send someone out to fix it, no one came on the day we scheduled, so they said they would send someone out again. The person they said the would send was replaced by someone else. That person fixed what he thought was wrong and walked out of my house. At no point in time did anyone from management come to see the product or ask if I was satisfied. They didn't even bother to sweep off my deck where they sawed the flooring. Then, without calling to get my authorization, they charged my card for the balance. read more

We recently moved into our new home and needed the carpets removed and the floors refinished in our living/dining area, a hallway, and two bedrooms. A+ was the first place we called and they were very quick with their response. We had an estimate the next morning and I felt they quoted us very fairly and competitively (I only have prices of other friend's jobs to compare to). They also gave us a deal to remove our carpet for free. The floors are original and are 50+ years old. These guys did a remarkable job restoring the floors and we can't believe how amazing it looks in our home now -- a completely different space to build out our nest. The job took a bit longer than expected but some of it was out of their control. Sometimes patience pays off for a job done right. There were some missed spots and areas that needed additional work and Larry (the owner) came out personally to fix those for us. Definitely would recommend their services! read more

We'd give them a B on the floors and a C for communication. The floors looked good the first time and not as good after returning to fix some issues. After the third or fourth trip to fix we didn't want them coming back. No one checked with us that the fixes were satisfactory. The worst part was paying $1600 extra to finish the steps; in the end the gaps in the wood were filled with poop colored caulking, messily done and questionable on durability. I oversee the construction of US Embassies all over the world. I consider myself qualified to comment here. Don't be fooled! Those glowing 5 star reviews are so outdated. Most recent is 4/2021 with a similar review. I made the mistake of glossing over the reviews and missed the fact that most of these reviews were from years past. In retrospect, I couldn't find one that was newer than 9 months ago. Things change with a company. Experienced workers move on. You are left with inexperienced workers that make mistakes. Larry, the supposed supervisor and quality control person is at best a hack, and will make every excuse for why your floors look and feel the way they do. Of course, Larry and I did not see eye to eye on the level of quality to expect on the final product. Something that would have been rejected on a Govt site for sure. ** Feeling the grit that was embedded in the floor after applying finish, Larry seemed to think that was perfectly fine and made excuse for dust blowing in from somewhere. I can assure you the windows were closed and the ventilation was off. Nothing would have been "blowing" onto the floors. The workers simply did not properly prepare the floors before applying the finish. ** There was a divot hole in the middle of the floor where a double door had a floor lock. The workers had plenty of time in the course of the project to properly fill/sand/refill/sand before applying the finish. They waited until the last day, which did not allow proper drying time. Its not dry underneath the finish which is a visible discoloration. Larry thought this was fine also considering the doors would cover the divot hole. NO..... the doors have been removed! ** Divot marks from the sanding machine were visible when entering. Larry blamed these marks on my subflooring and said that was also fine. Comes from not raising or retracting the machine while pausing. ** FIRE DEPT deployed! Yes, the buildings' 90 unit fire alarm was set off, causing the Fire Dept to respond. All the condo owners in this Loft building had to evacuate. Larry and his workers callous regard for taking certain precautions prior to starting the sanding process. By not installing dust covers for the fire alarms, and having adequate ventilation to the outside, this caused the issue. Larry and his workers claimed that it wasn't because of their work and the Brazilian worker argued with the building engineer, until the Fire Dept. showed which smoke detector had gone off in my unit. I removed the smoke detectors and they were full of sawdust. Especially the back bedroom, which is what tripped the fire alarm. Quite the embarrassment as other unit owners gave us the stare. **Lastly, I had freshly painted all the walls prior to having the floors refinished and after they'd left, and Larry left, noticed places on the corners where the sanding machine hit it knocking off chips exposing the metal corner bead. Just not giving a dam. Think twice before as you consider your options! read more

Just purchases an older home with original hardwood floors that have seen a lot of life. One room had substantial water staining from planters and red paint on the floor. They look fabulous now. The staff were great to work with. The reason I did give a 5 star rating, was they dumped some puddy like substance down my kitchen sink. A-Plus - - More like C-Minus The job was done adequately but far from highest quality and attention. The overall inattentiveness to details, which I would expect from a professional installer, is the reason for my low rating. To wit: * Subflooring was not evaluated for stability or levelness. Instability was not corrected. Therefore, the new flooring is not flat, base molding has significant gaps which needed filling, and the flooring creaks. Crude efforts at leveling the subflooring were attempted using a wrecking bar. A carpenter's level or more modern device was never used. * New threshold abutting old carpeting sloppily done (see photo). * New threshold abutting previous flooring not level (see photo). * All planks not carefully abutted - therefore spaces present (see photo). * Left over flooring planks not left with me despite specific request to do so. * Cleanup haphazard - glue remaining on planking. The owner/project manager, Larry, who came out after I registered my complaints took no responsibility and blamed all problems on the house. He would not acknowledge that inspection and correction of any subflooring problems were an expected part of the installer's responsibilities. On the one hand, he noted that the area involved with creaking was too big to be fixed after installation but too small to be detected before installation. So the problem was either too big or too small- take your pick. In either case, problems of creaking subflooring would have been difficult to detect with a compressor going. No offers of a discount were made, though I made my dissatisfaction clear. read more

We recently had our hardwood floors refinished by A Plus. We had a lot of wood that was old and had a lot of blemishes. Old adhesive stains from previous kitchen cabinets left behind from our remodel, water damage in front of a door and bleached wood throughout from the old plate glass windows. Not only that, but there was over 22 stairs that needed refinishing as well. The crew that came to our house was Bruno and Andre and they worked their butts off on this job! They started on a Tuesday and were done by Friday. They took care not to damage the trim floor boards or the bottom trim around our cabinetry. They cleaned up each day when they left. They were friendly, personable and reliable and kept in communication with me all week long. They gave us a reasonable quote and that is what we paid...no hidden costs! Our installer was Wesley and his crew. They were AWESOME! Stay away from this company at all cost!!! This was the most unpleasant business transaction ever. I do not understand how they are still in business. I hired them to sand and refinish my hardwood floor. The estimate we were given said 3-5 days project approximately + 1 day for flush mount vents. The estimator was bragging how they were in business for more than 20 years and that they do a quality job and if there are any problems they will be fixed for no additional cost. The reality: The guys who came to sand the floors were not born 20 years ago or at best were toddlers. They were very inexperienced and did not care about the quality of their work. All they cared about was to finish fast so they can go to a different job site. The duct vents were never covered, so when they cut for the flush mount covers they pushed all the dust and debris down the vents. This is a healthy hazard and I had to spend a lot of time trying to clean it. Later this dust got mixed with the finish and resulted in poor looking floors. When I complained about this the project manager and the owner of the company said they would buff it.As a result the glossy finish became matte and the particles became less visible but you can see the marks from the buffing machine. The floors do not look nearly as what they should. The next problem were the flush mount vents. I waited for them for more than 4 months. This is not a typo - four months!!! These were custom made by another company and I was told there arrived broken. This was the excuse the first time. There are 10 vent covers. I can understand if few were broken but not all of them. I think they just forgot to order them and came up with this lame excuse to buy time. They said they would re-order them again. Next time the installer came to install them it turned out they were the wrong size. A company 20 years in the business cannot take the correct measurements?!!! This should tell you enough about their real experience. I had to wait probably another month to finally get the covers. The installers did a good job and apologized several times that I had to wait so long. I asked if I will get a discount for waiting so long and for the poor quality of the finish. I was offered 5% off which I accepted - it is better than nothing after all. For comparison If I was to delay my payment for any reason I would get penalized with 10% for each month. For 4 months this is 40%. They will never give you 40% discount for waiting 4 months though. Please, choose a different company if you do not want to deal with the problems I described. read more

We contacted A Plus to quote a huge refinishing project of our main living room, 3 bedrooms, hallways closets, etc. The floors had previously been refinished about a year ago before we bought the house. The previous contractors did a horrible job and the sealer was peeling off the floor and there were scratches everywhere. We knew we'd have to invest some money to get them looking good and done correctly. The guy that quoted us was very upfront and honest and answered all of my questions in detail. As far as price goes, they weren't the cheapest, but they were in line with the 3 other bids we got. I preferred them due to my experience with their sales person and his answers to all of my ridiculous questions! Mike and his crew were EXCELLENT!! They texted each morning 30 minutes in advance to let us know they were on their way and they were extremely friendly, professional and patient. At the last minute I changed my mind on stain color and they met me to show me new samples of mixed colors on the sanded floor. Mike helped me make my decision by pointing out things to look for in the wood grain. Not only did they finish on time, but they were even on the shorter end of their proposed time frame. A Plus Hardwood Floors made a very stressful situation go smoothly and we are in love with the end result. I would highly recommend them no matter how big or small the job. read more

All the Reasons Why A+ Hardwood Floors is the Best Option I thought finding a company to have engineered hardwood installed in our basement of about 1400 feet in 4 different areas, would be fairly straightforward. However, after working with 3 well-known companies (2 national, and one local firm) to get a quote I could understand, with a sales representative and other company reps that I thought would stand-up for whatever might go awry during the re-flooring process, I finally found A+ Hardwood Floors on my 4th attempt (for me, it's not the issues that can occur when dealing with installations - it's the trust one has in the people that will and have the ability to address them, that really matter). A+ HWF is a Colorado-based firm which demonstrated throughout the process, that it has company values of clarity, accountability, and collaboration. From Geoff the sales rep; to Tasha the job coordinator and Larry the Project Manager; to Lorenzo the flooring delivery guy; and Leo the craftsman flooring installer, everyone was genuinely helpful and informative, and the cost proposal was mid-range in comparison to the other bids. I especially appreciated that they actually internally coordinated with each another so that they knew what was going on with my project. I had an outstanding area of concern on the floors that Larry and his fix-it expert Daniel took care of today, and given the owner's 'customer-first' priorities, I believe that if we have any additional issues that A+ will address them. In what I have now found seems to be an industry that has a lot of on-the-fly players who are trying to charge as much as you will pay them (while using all sub-contractors that aren't coordinated by someone really in charge), it was such a relief to be able to work with the A+ HWF stable and expert team. We just had an excellent experience with A+! The scope of work was to replace carpet with wood flooring in one room, and refinish existing wood flooring in adjacent rooms. The workmen that came to our home were polite and professional, and quickly gave us a sense of trust. The quality of the completed work met our high expectations, and the blending between new and existing is perfect. A return visit was requested for some fill and touch-up, and A+ responded immediately. There was a slight miscommunication regarding schedule, but A+ was so quick to respond to our concerns and take responsibility for the issue that I am compelled to give A+ my highest recommendation. We recently had these people refinish our floors. We selected them from the other reviews on this site and on line because we are very finicky and wanted a superior job. The sales people were great to work with. They were prompt, friendly, and gave us a high level of expectations. The dust control people were exceptional. They masked off everything and came back and vacuumed everywhere. We couldn't have been happier. The refinishers, in my opinion, did not live up to the A + name. I would have to give them a C. When they were done we had them come back to re-do the coating in areas they had missed. In order to do that they had to lightly re-sand which left a light coat of dust on everything the dust control people had cleaned up previously. We still have dips in the wood from sanding corners where the wood meets perpendicularly. We can still see "puddles" in the floor where their spreading tools stopped. We were told that over time the finish will "lay down" and the puddles will not be noticeable. I suspect that what they really meant is that after several months we will get used to the flaws. I typically judge professionals by their ability to do a better job than I could do myself. I'm not sure they succeeded in this aspect. Great people to deal with. Hopefully you will get a better crew actually doing the work. read more

Contacted A+ for a small refinish job, the office admin was friendly, and the salesman who came out to our place was friendly and professional. The finisher was friendly as well, but failed to call when the job was finished, so I had to call to find out it was finished the day before. Half of the floor had flaws, they buffed it and put a fresh coat down, but it still looked bad. So the decision was made to re-do that area, sanding and all. The finisher failed to call me when the project was completed again, and there were a few noticeable globs of polyurethane left behind. The globs got resolved promptly, and everything looks good now. I understand that things sometimes go wrong, I'm pretty reasonable to deal with, and A+ was committed to making the floors look good. On the other hand, a 3-4 day project spanned to two weeks, and I had to make a lot of calls to get information or to report the problems. I asked for and received a small discount on the project as a result of the issues, and on the whole I'm satisfied. I believe that the problems I encountered were atypical. Since 3-stars is defined as "A-OK" that's what I'm going with, I applaud their commitment to fixing issues, and if not for the lack of communication on their end this would be a 4-star review despite the re-work that was needed. read more

I'd highly recommend considering other flooring companies and in hindsight would have been more than willing to pay a premium to avoid the hassle that we experienced with this company. A Plus refinished our hardwood floors. And by refinished, I mean partially ruined them. When the finishing dried, there were huge chunks of polyurethane in several areas and deep scratches that were not filled (or there previously). To top it all off, they stained our carpet. Their phone staff was unresponsive when we called to complain and attempt to get them to fix the mess. The receptionist was abrasive and rude. We had to physically drive to their facility with pictures and demand resolution before we got any attention towards the issues. They literally had to replace boards in our flooring to fix the mess. They claim their staff has 20+ years of hardwood experience, but I could have probably done a better job with it as a DIY project. Mostly because I care about my quality of work. I am giving them two stars because they did resolve the situation (with no discount, mind you). But none of it was worth the pain we experienced. Consider yourself warned! read more

Really would like to give A plus more stars but cannot due to very poor customer service and very disgruntled employees. Owner Larry is nice tried to smooth over the issues I had but in the end it was all talk he did not oversee the work and never came out and checked as promised. Overall, did not do the work as written in the contract. The quality of work was poor. We had them fix a water damage area and screen recoat. What the estimator told me verbally and what he had me sign legally became two different things. The office manager relied on stating legal contract terms rather than discussing remedies. Basically the issue, I was told by estimator paint spots could be screened off floor when worker came he had a very different story, no and was disgruntled because he was not told about paint. I said I would gladly pay extra. He did not care. Said they would have to reschedule resand entire floor and left. Needless to say issue after issue. New boards installed shrank and left gaps. They said this is normal. No it's not. You always let new wood acclimate to colorado's dry climate before you install. Took forever for them to fix. Work was so poor I have dirt and a staple imbedded in the clear coat. Do not bother with this company there is better floor companies. read more

We used them in our old house too and the end product was even better than before. But.... The guy that come to measure was a little odd. I want to let you know about an extremely poor and costly mistake I have been enduring for the past 1 1/2 years by going with A Plus Hardwood Floors. When they first installed my floors in May of 2018 before I moved into my new home, they managed to not fully complete the job by not adding the final layer of protectant. Unbeknownst to me, we moved our family in, only to start seeing spots all over the floors in less than 3 weeks. When I had them come to inspect the situation, they quickly became accusatory that I had done something to purposefully damage the floors. While this was an unnerving and unexpected experience and response, they ultimately agreed to refinish the floors for me. While grateful to resolve the issue at hand, once again I had to relocate my family for a week (at my expense) while all the floors were redone. Fast forward to summer of 2019 and we notice a leak in our basement directly below the bathroom they had installed part of the floors in. After bringing in an emergency contamination crew and having our house hazmatted due to mold, it was determined that the crew who reattached our toiled after the 2nd refinish of our floors did not do so correctly and we had been enduring a slow leak for over a year. Our bathroom was torn down to the studs and an insurance claim had to be filed. When I spoke with my best friends at A Plus they immediately admitted guilt, they said they remembered my situation and how hard it was to get that toilet back on and said they would take care of everything. I have it All on a voicemail. They actually asked that our plumber to contact them to educate them about what they had done wrong! Unfortunately apparently is this day in age that isnt enough and now they are retreating after a 6 plus month long battle of insurance companies. Im throwing in my towel to deal and expend any more energy and time with such a back stabbing, terrible company. But you all as potential future consumers need to know how this company conducts business and I urge you to choose someone else, anyone else. read more

I had eight different reputable companies quote out a hardwood refinishing job in our home. A+ fell near the highest in the quotes but I noticed on their brochure that they would price match with other reputable companies - I figured why not see if they would own up to a promise (I hate when businesses offer guarantees and don't follow through). I guess I should have taken the boisterous nature of the salesman as a clue - these guys think they are the only cats in town and would not price match the lower quotes (empty promises...). I ended up going with a company that had impeccable follow-up and spent the time during the estimate explaining their services and options for the work to be done (rather than telling me how many great reviews they had online). Unfortunately, I haven't had a great experience w/ A+. The owner came to quote the job, and prepared me for the fact that A+ was not going to be at the low end of the quotes I got--but they had the best staff, the staff were all employees (not IC's) and that the floors would be "perfect" when they were done. The floors came out good, however there were several areas that were bumpy or that the finish was very uneven or non-existent. I'm a reasonable person--called and scheduled a time for them to come out to see/fix. They never showed up. I called, spoke to the owner as Britt was out--and he assured me he would call back before the end of the day --he never called. I left a pretty sterm message for Britt who called the following Monday and apologized, said she was out and there was miscommunication, that she would offer me a rebate as a way to say she was sorry and send them right out. Well they came out --saw the problem areas and sort of had this attitude of well--nothing is perfect and it's just the way it is, but agreed to at least address the spots that were bumpy (neglected to sand the top of the stairs) and the few areas that there was no finish on the floors. And--they never showed up--and the check promised by Britt never came either. I would NEVER use this company again, they were the most expensive quote and in my opinion on a scale of 1-10, I think the job is a 5-- read more
