I naturally have very thick, poofy, tangles easy -kind of hair. Before I met Daniel Rosati my hair looked just as it sounds and I rarely wore it down because it was so difficult to manage. In addition, because of my natural volume everyone who cut my hair prior to Daniel would either not layer it or layer it entirely wrong because of the "poof". Thanks to Daniel's expertise with keratin treatments, his artistic eye (knowing the right color or colors to use to color my hair for my skin tone), and willingness to find ways to tame the cowlick in the front of my head that previously made it impossible for me to wear edgy, straight bangs, I am walking around with a new head of hair. For anyone who has never had a keratin done and has thicker, unmanageable hair, it will literally change your life. It used to take me at least an hour and a half to blow dry and straighten my hair and my hair would end up dry and frizzy as a result of all the heat. I would constantly wear my hair in a bun because I could not deal with the mess. Now, with the keratin in place, I can hop out of the shower, run a brush through my hair (and much easier than before, as I no longer hit a tangle every two inches), and my hair essentially air dries straight. I only need to spend five minutes going over my hair with a straightener in the morning. The other thing that has made a world of difference is the hair color line Daniel uses on my hair. Some hair artists leave you with a shelf or dog ear because they really don't know how to cut curls. I love Deco Hair Studio and I love Randy. He gives me beautiful cuts and color that works with my hair texture and lifestyle at a price that doesn't break the bank. He's fun and friendly an runs a lovely shop. In the almost 10 years I've been seeing him, Randy has done nearly everything to my hair, from highlights to pink and purple streaks to all over color. He's cut in bangs and helped me grown them out, done countless beautiful long cuts, both layered and blunt, and even lopped off 12" of hair into a fun bob when I decided to go short. No matter what I'm looking for, I trust him to help me find the perfect style. And even with all of that, possibly my favorite part is how nicely his cuts grow out. Kristin is a curly hair specialist. I've gone other places and no one compares to her great cuts. It is well worth the price.

I have VERY coarse and VERY thick dark wavy hair, which is rather unruly and frizzy. When it's straightened and styled, it looks great. When I let it dry on its own, 'Cousin It' comes to mind. After many years of bad at-home-dyes and bad stylists, I came to Kristen Tucker with some pretty damaged hair. It was darker than my original color and had illogical layers from bad cuts. She immediately set up a plan to get rid of my inky hair and bring it back to its natural color and lustre over a period of sessions. 'Pulling color' in one session is not healthy and she refused to compromise the integrity of my hair. I stuck with her and I was sooooo glad I did. Even when I was pushing 7 weeks in between cuts, it still layed and looked beautiful and natural. I had some financial issues at one point and had to cut my splurges for one year, which my haircuts with Kristen were included. Oh dear, it was not worth it by any means. I basically came back to her one year later with damaged hair again. For her level of hair care and experience, her prices are comparable to many other stylists in the San Diego area for a dcut and color. Last but not least, she's an absolute hoot to hang with and shoot the shinny with. It's always a form of therapy when I go to her. read more

Kristen Tucker is a fabulous stylist!! I highly recommend her for cut and color. Us "Curly Girls" suffer and we need someone that understands our hair type, texture, etc. Kristen encourages her clients to accept their curls, love what they have and how to style it at home! She teaches how to cleanse, condition, and style our hair. And I love how my hair feels after each color session, it is soft and healthy, not traumatized from the coloring process. Other salons butcher my hair with their rough treatment, but not Kristen! She says "our curls should be treated like fine cashmere." I've been visiting Kristen @ Deco every four weeks since April 2019, and I can't sufficiently express my gratitude for or amazement at her skill!! I turned to Kristen after a terribly botched perm, which had left my naturally wavy hair variably scorched. The Bride of Frankenstein had nothing on me: from root to end, my hair was electric. A lot could have gone wrong trying to grow out this mess and doing my four-week color to cover my gray, but thanks to Kris, not only did none of that bad stuff happen, but my hair looks absolutely spectacular (if I say so myself). The texture is healing beautifully, the cut is very flattering, and the organic color is rich and lasting. Kris is not only an expert in all things hair, she is also a warm and funny person. Kristen saved my hair over 14 years ago. I called Deco after a stylist in Del Mar ruined my hair with continual bleaching. I had no idea what she had in that mixing bowl of hers but after 1 year my hair was done - fried and breaking off. This stylist kept telling me it was the hard water here in Solana Beach - yah right. This is a really nice salon. I went here as a walk-in. I didn't know anyone. I walked in and Garrett, one of the stylists, greeted me immediately. He was so kind. He was leaving for the day and couldn't take me, but he asked his colleague Laura if she could cut my hair, and she said Yes. She was finishing up her last client and said to come back in 20 minutes, which I did. Laura was SO NICE. She is really kind, funny, and down to earth. I had not had a hair cut in over a year. I showed her pictures and we discussed what I wanted. She cut my long hair into a cute layered hair cut that made my curls come out. She took a LOT of time cutting my hair. Laura is super nice and I highly recommend her. Everyone in there seemed really nice so if you do a walk-in I don't think you can go wrong.
