Lovely little hostel in Miami which was where I stayed for one night when I last came to Miami and the most recent time when I crashed in the car for all three nights that I was here. Or 4 nights if you count sleeping in a rest stop an hour north. And five nights if you count sleeping in a rest stop 3 hours west. In any case I love this hostel and it has decent prices and a wonderful view of South Beach - and they offer dinner which isn't particularly great, but service is nice and rooms are okay, and they have plenty of good stuff that makes this the best hostel destination on South Beach. read more

I stayed here for 2 weeks for a sunny getaway. Even though most of it was thunder and rain. Haha I got checked in by William. Very sweet and and great with recommendations! The staff was very friendly. The lobby was quite homey and I loved how the window looked over ocean drive! He showed me to my room and handed me freshly washed covers and linens. The rooms were well kept and the bunk beds were quite comfy. There was air conditioning in all room so the heat wasn't too uncomfortable. There was space around the beds to shove all your luggage and stuff in and lockers for valuables. I was told to go upstair to check out the bar that night. Cutest little roof bar ever! Not too crowded. I had taken bartending classes during my stay so the bartender at the hostel would let me help out every once in a while. They had a hot tub, a big projector screen beds and sofas everywhere. Very comfortable spot to chill. At the front desk, they had information on tons of excursions and mini trips for guests to look through and the staff happily helped with booking! I got to go on a trip to key west, a day trip to the Bahamas and some of my roommates went on the everglades tour which they said was amazing. I loved staying here! I met so many cool people and all the places the staff recommended we're great! I also love the fact that it's so close to the beach! read more

Good little spot to just stop and have a seat with your friends or boyfriend. I was here on a friday night after leaving shack shake. Me my boyfriend and his brother were walking south beach and while he went to get a fat tuesday drink I was craving a milk shack. I know I know your probably saying "hey didn't she just leave shack shake? Why not get one there"? Well at that time I didnt want one you know how that works lol. Anyway I walked up to the little stand in front of deco walk and asked for a Vanilla milk shake my fav. It took here forever to make it but once it was done it was deelish and pretty big too. So we sat down out there finish our treats had a good time looking at all the weirdos and went home after I got my parking ticket :(. Some way to end the night. Its an ok place, is it a must no because I could find better but for that night its what it was. read more

I stayed here two non-consecutive nights and am fairly pleased overall. The first night was pretty uneventful and I spent very little time in the hostel at all. For the second night, I had a bit more time to get a feel for the place. I was initially quite frustrated because their online booking system seemed to have a glitch so it took them over an hour to check in three people so many of us were standing in line getting frustrated. The management went out of there way to make it up to me (and perhaps to other guests), and while one person there was slightly unpleasant, most staff was very friendly. Meals are included here (simple meals like bagel with peanut butter for breakfast, tuna sandwich for lunch, meat spaghetti for dinner), which is a good deal in general, but I didn't partake since I'm vegan and there was meat served at the meals during my stay. The price is right, the hostel is clean, and it's literally right across from the beach. There's a big open rooftop with large TV screens, pool, and a jacuzzi. I hung out up there briefly and would imagine it would be really nice for a more extended stay. read more

My friends and I had reserved a room for 10, during memorial day weekend. We arrived 30mins early to check in. The chick at the front desk had no customer service skills. She had attitude. We were waiting for our rooms supposedly they were cleaning them. When we got our room keys to go to the room, the room did not look clean. The bathroom and tub were gross. I wore my sandals to shower. The toilet had no lid . the hallway of our room outside smelt like someone vomited. We got a towel, pillow, and sheets each. We paid about $50 a person for a room for 12. We liked the fact that it was walking distance from the beach on ocean drive. The elevator to get to the desk was iffy felt like it would get stuck. Also inspection tag is expired. Also the new rule is you can't stay here if you are from Florida. You have to be a foreigner. For sleeping its okay but I wouldn't bring anything valuable and expensive to leave in the room its not 100% secure. read more

Stayed here during the Miami Beach World Cup Beach POLO Tournament and am extremely glad I did. Loved the location because it is RIGHT in the heart of South Beach, a super great location. The accommodations were more than adequate, and for what I paid, it was like getting a 5 Star accommodation for a unbelivable bargain price! One of my best hostel experience ever!!! My 5 best friends and I booked a reservation for memorials weekend. The stuff were super friendly and I just realized I didn't upload any review,even though I promised the stuff I will. The hostel is located in the best location in Miami beach,with an amazing rooftop,great ocean view. The hostel was super clean,which is very important when you share rooms with other people... I specially want to thank Bryan that helped me with all of our needs (airport shuttle,coupons for local restaurant,free entrance for parties). I do not recommend this hostel as it is filthy. I stayed in the 10-people dorm. Some of the staff only speak spanish. The wifi only works in the hobby. The elevator is not functional sometimes (if you go out at night and come back trying to get in while the elevator is off, that's when you start freaking out). you have to use the stairways on the other side of the building. the rooftop has so much potential but is not used. the jacuzzi doesnt work. they could put up some lighting it would brighten up the mood. the bathroom in the dorm i was (room 9) was disgusting, the toilet paper hanging on the window, they don't even bother changing the soap when its finished. the dorm has a TV which is of no use. the AC was the funniest part. it was broken and for some reason when i woke up, there was water everywhere, so my luggage was all wet. the fridge is very small and is not useful for most of the occupants since it can hold so little. in the bathroom the stores of the window were broken so every time i took a shower i was basically offering a free peep show to whoever lived next door (also very funny!) The window of the dorm was also broken. The service is not that great either, they're not mean, but some of them should not be working in a customer service position, such as John. He will help you yeah, but his attitude lacks professionalism. Sure miami has a lot of spanish speaking people, but not all of the clients understands this language! It's not chic or whatever they advertise. the only good things about this hostel is that they offer breakfast and is nicely located right in front of the beach. but another hostel is located just right at the corner and maybe you should give that one a try instead. miami int'l hostel i think. overall, i think this hostel is not clean enough. read more

I have stayed at Ocean Blue (my first Hostel) A few times now. Regardless of the negative posts I can assure you that the staff is amazingly HELPFUL AND EFFICIENT!!! Most prime location of South Beach, the bass surrounding sounds ARE SOUTH BEACH! You are there to bounce, so bounce! Looking foward again, to a fantastic & affordable stay! read more

THIS HOSTEL IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL Honesty, I would not even give this hostel one star. From the very moment we booked our reservation we had trouble. Originally we booked our trip for five days and then decided to extend our stay to six days so I emailed the hostel and was emailed back saying that they would forward the email to someone else to take care of it. My email was never answered. I emailed again a few days later and it went again, unanswered so we decided to make a separate reservation. A few days later I noticed a 26 dollar charge on my credit card from the hostel that concerned me because I was only supposed to pay less than a dollar as a "down payment" so I called the hostel. When they finally answered, I was greeted with nothing but sass and when I asked to speak with the manager because I was told to send another email (which I was sure would go unanswered) the reply was "He doesn't want to talk to you." .........? The MANAGER didn't wish to talk to me? Should have been a red flag right there. Upon arrival there was no apology about the random charge on my credit card, they said "Sometimes stuff happens" and credited it to my payment. We had booked a 6 bedroom mixed dorm and they showed us to a 12 bed female dorm...obviously not what we had reserved OR wanted. They also didn't care. There was a rule about no outside alcohol in the hostel and about five minutes after we got to our room, while I was changing clothes, a male employee opened our door without knocking, using a key card. He proceeded to tell us he would let us sneak in with alcohol meanwhile ignoring the fact that I was not wearing a shirt. He continued to make conversation with us, asking us where we were from, how long we were staying, all the while I was STILL not wearing a shirt. The next morning we had to check out and check back in because of their negligence in extending our reservation. This meant taking all of our belongings out of the room, bringing them to the lobby, and then leaving them there for extended period of time because they didn't have a room ready for us. I also requested not to stay in a certain room because there were some guys staying there we weren't comfortable rooming with. After requesting this the manager responded with, "Listen pretty girl, just because you're good looking doesn't mean you always get what you want." Baffled by this response I restated that I did not want to be put in that certain room and thanked him for understanding. Over the next few days, the men who worked there walked in and out of our room carelessly without knocking, many times as we were changing or about to get in the shower. There was one employee in particular who I felt especially violated by. He made many lewd comments to the guests staying there along the lines of and including, "I want to tear that ass up." This same employee later described to us how he shows people where the best places to have sex in public areas at the hostel are without being caught on camera. One night the manager, Herold, was beyond drunk in the lobby. He was rolling around on the floor like an idiot, telling us that we were his favorite girls and grabbing us on the thigh.. a little too high for comfort. The dorms sucked because although you may pay for a 6 bed dorm, its a big room with basically a cardboard door stuck in the middle or a 12 bed dorm. The best part is all 12 people share one shower and there is no communal bathroom. The beds are rusty and will stain your clothes. The "amazing rooftop" they talk about leaves a lot to be desired. The amount of times I heard about people having sex in the hot tub on the the rooftop, was too high to count. The amount times I saw someone cleaning that same hot tub was nonexistent. Also, in the short time I was there, there was a 4,000 dollar watch stolen, an iPad, several wallets, etc. Luckily for us we flew under the radar but unfortunately this was a huge problem. At least once a day there was a new report. Its suspicious to me that all the employees have key cards to every single room and go in and out without permission or even the knowledge of them being there. I feel like the two must go hand and hand but maybe that's just me. There were some good things about this hostel. The location was great and the people staying there were also great! Antonio, one of the employees, was an awesome asset. Unfortunately, these things are so minuet that I would totally recommend staying a block down at Miami International Hostel. It has almost the same location and is apparently 30x better! read more

Good place overall: THE GOOD: 1) Location can't be beat. Right on ocean and 10 minute walk to Lincoln Street where there is shopping, nightlife and cafés. 2) Decent rooftop lounge with pool table and hot tub, bar. 3) Best bunk beds on the planet. They are the most solid steady things ever and I wasnt bothered when someone is going up or down the ladder. A huge plus. COULD BE BETTER: 4) Staff were terrible, with the exception of one nice black girl who works at the front desk . They seemed like they didn't want to be there and were unhappy. One kitchen staff was especially bad, she worked during breakfast Dec 5th. 5) Misery loves company. When the staff are unfriendly it gives a bad vibe and bad energy throughout the entire place. If I don't stay here again, the staff is the reason. 6) They need another coffee maker and toaster. There is always an unorganized line in the morning for coffee and to use the toaster. Coffee also runs out every morning and they are slow at making more. 8) Meals are often late up to half an hour because staff didn't make it to work on time. I heard staff complaining about customers who were irritated because things weren't ready. I might stay here again but would wonder what I was missing out in at another hostel. Looking forward to staying at the FreeHand hostel just north of here in a week. read more

I have stayed at this hostel for over a week and its pretty new. Lobby is nice and it has a terrece being put together thats looks very nice so far. The building is pretty quiet. Joel herrero from the front desk is very proffessional and juggles alot of people with needs i noticed. somehow seems to make everything work making sure everyone is happy at all times. pablo padron was also very accommodating making me feel welcomed and at home. Everything started out fine then it all went to crap... My boyfriend and I were staying here before a week cruise we were taking out of Miami, we spent a lot on the cruise so we decided to check out the hostel situation. I will be fair and give a list of Pros and Cons even though the overall experience SUCKED Pros: Literally across the street from the beach, really great rooftop area, and very close to the nightlife. Cons: They apparently dont have a limit on how long one can stay which makes people feel entitled and act like they own the place (a neighbor of ours was loud and obnioxious at all hours of the night to the point where a guy in our room told him to be quiet and it caused a huge fight in the alley involving bricks, the N word, etc), The rooms are TINY, smallest I have seen Front desk staff doesnt know the meaning of customer service: I realized I had left an expensive item in one of the lockers there and called while on my cruise (3.99 a minute -_-) to ask if the had seen anything or if they coud please check when they had a chance the guy said that he didnt know and that I should check with housekeeping when I get back (a week later mind you). He was worthless so I wrote an email asking for some kind of help with the matter, I even said they didnt have to go out of their way but to please check next time they booked someone in that room...No respone. I called yet again once off of the boat and the woman who answered just said she didnt have anything turned in... hmm well maybe if lazy guy number 1 could have checked a week ago when I first called you might have them. I also asked if the email I wrote to was correct and she said yes... oh so you just dont respond to emails, cool. Still ranting on the front desk: My boyfriend went back to book one night once we returned because I wanted to stop by and actually look for my lost item myself and didnt want to deal with traveling up to Fort Lauderdale right then. Once he gets in they tell him that the room was thourougly cleaned and no items were found so he couldnt go check (yet when we stayed the week before there were bags and boxes of peoples items that had stayed before not touched by housekeeping). After he books his room we realize that our friends had booked us at another hostel already, so 15 inutes after booking he tells the manager that he doesnt need the room. The manager refuses to refund the money! He tells my boyfriend that he can wait in the lobby and try to sell his room to someone else. SERIOUSLY GO F*CK yourself dude Note: I understand that it is not the staffs fault that I left something behind it jut woud have been nice to talk to someone who sounded like they cared. Also I may have grammatical errors in this review because my boyfriends computer has a weird European keyboard. Moral of the story: This place is a freaking gamble that I would not take again, I am currently writing this reveiw from another hostel in south beach and it is 1000 times better and is less expensive, and comes with free drink tickets.
