I needed a cheap, safe, and clean place to put my stuff and lay my head on a 5 nights, 4 days trip to Miami Beach. SoBe surpassed my expectations. SoBe prides itself on being clean, safe, having a sense of community, free shuttle from the airport, free breakfast and dinner. For $22 a night, SoBe had me two blocks away from Ocean Drive and Miami Beach. Atmosphere: Yes, there is a very young crowd -college students or early twenties - taking advantage of these benefits. SoBe appeals to them for a no hassle experience of getting into some great clubs and meeting other people. If you don't like being in that kind of atmosphere, that you probably should skip SoBe. Because I work w/ college students for my day job, I didn't mind much. I would not book this place if you're traveling children or want a modern, adult-like stay. My roomies of early 20s were respectful, clean, and understood the notion of getting sleep! It did appear those staying got older (30+) during the weekdays. Noise level: It wasn't bad as I expected. The front desk sales earplugs. I use them, as well as an eye mask, every night. With the earplugs, I didn't hear anything. The only time the noise level was high was probably from 9 p.m. till 12 p.m. when SoBe has free drinks and free pick up to advertise whatever party they're going to for the night. After that, it's very quiet since people party till 3 to 4 in the morning. Now, I visited during the end of February, so the bar was not jumping as the reviews prior had talked about. My flight came in pretty late so I wasn't able to take advantage of the shuttle. But the city bus #150 actually stops right in front of it and it was only $2.25. I took it back to the airport as well. On the other corner is the free Miami Beach bus rider. Uber is around and I used the "Freebee" app and system to ride around the area by providing a tip only, which also comes around SoBe often. Food: Breakfast is always been a good, free opportunity to take advantage of that. One piece of fruit and some kind of bread item - a bagel or full waffle - plus juice or coffee. Really can't be bad. I took advantage of the breakfast to cut costs. Dinner: an area of improvement SoBe could improve if they wanted, but hey it's free! They could upgrade by serving Hamburger Helper. Thus I usually passed on dinner. However, what I did once was eat SoBe's dinner as a snack before I went out to a restaurant to save money to not getting too much food later. Especially on Ocean Drive, this is helpful as most restaurants are going to add 18% service gratuity. Big Pink is just a block away if you need it. The communication from management via Airbnb was excellent and consistent. Customer service at the front desk, bar, and cleaning staff were friendly, positive, and pleasant. This is a terrible hostel, there is even no WiFi in the room! You have to go to the lobby to get on the internet!! Yes, this is a cheap place, but I have been to many other hostel that charge the same price but provide so much better services. This is the worst hostel I have ever stayed....the room and bathroom was dirty, the pillow were gross. Bathroom include ~5 showers and ~4 toilet. The shower room was really small and i literally cramped in there and I am a really small person. There is no hand soap or anything like that, I felt so gross after using the toilet...there were no place to put my clothes when I took shower, and I always worried people walked in on me naked when I changed my clothes...and when the bathroom door opened, if there were people passing by, they can definitely see my butt....very inconvenient place... read more

I'm giving this place a 4 out of 5 star for these reasons: the location, hospitality, and price. A hostel will be a hostel but hospitality isn't given. Here is why, their night staff was nice to help one of our friends back to her room without hesitation, being she was out from all the partying. He was such a gentleman to assist one of my friends back to the room without complaints. One room can fit up to 8 people. This is not a co-ed hostel, there are girls and boys bathroom/showers. There are bunked beds, happy hour drinks for 30 minutes (HAHA!) like literally 30 minutes (be aware there is a server there that will beg for tips), and they have continental breakfast (bagels, fruit, OJ, coffee, and water) not bad actually. I had so many great memories here! It was my first stay at a hostel and I was a bit nervous about it, but it was just like staying at a college dorm, except people were much happier because they were all there on vacation. The people are what make a hostel great, and this place had a fun, community feel. I was staying here for Ultra weekend and some guy I hadn't met before introduced himself in the hallway and said "Hey, are you going to Ultra? A bunch of us from the hostel are heading there tomorrow and catching a bus that way. You should come out with us." People are really nice and friendly and come from all over the world. I stayed in a 4 people room. My roomies were from Argentina, South Korea, Canada, and Connecticut. I also met people from Sweden, Norway, Italy, the UK, and Germany. The atmosphere gets a solid 5 stars if you're into a party type of hostel. The reason one star gets knocked off is one member of the staff wasn't too helpful and the loud noise from the first floor (I stayed on the 2nd floor directly above) made it a bit hard to fall asleep the last night I stayed. Luckily, I brought ear plugs hehe. It was ironic, because the next door neighbors were playing their music on our floor and I didn't even hear it through the walls. For the most part, people were really respectful. The hallways were quiet and the cleaning people were really cool, too. Here are some tips: Tip 1: they clean the showers around 10am when most people are just waking up, so if you want to get clean without interruptions, either shower at night, or wake up and shower around 9am. Tip 2: Free breakfast is from 8am till 10am. It's just bagels and bananas or oranges. But hey, it's free and toasted fresh bagels are pretty darn good when you're starving. Tip 3: If you want a good night's sleep and you get cold easily, please bring a sweatshirt. They also have warm blankets available at the front desk, too. Once you check into your room you are also given bedsheets and a towel. The front desk also has drinks available if you get thirsty and other drinks available at the bar till 5am if you are the other type of thirsty. And if you are mad hungry they do have college "ramen" noodles and some other foods. Tip 4: There is a fridge and a microwave in the kitchen/lounge area. If you want to put food in there, ask the front desk for a bag and label. I wish I knew this, because I would have stored my Shake Shack fries in here instead of letting them perish in my car the entire weekend. There's also a mini theater connected to this room. They have theme nights posted on the wall here, too. I came in here to put some "ramen" in my tummy and quickly go to bed, but ended up chatting it up with some bartending school hostel guests from sweden and norway. My quick snack eventually morphed into drunken noodles in my belly. Tip 5: Bring slippers to wear in the shower. They clean the bathrooms a whole lot, but still. Tip 6: They have both co-ed and females only rooms. Tip 7: Sunrise/Sunset on the beach yoga is only one or two blocks away. (Good luck waking up or staying up long enough for that sunrise. Lol.) So is Amnesia nightclub and Big Pink restaurant. Tip 8: Yes, there is wi-fi here but you use it downstairs in the computer lounge area. They have computers available for use. You let them hold onto your ID while you browse the net. Tip 9: In addition to the bar mentioned above, you can play pool for more opportunities to mingle and meet with fellow travelers. Parking is available through parking passes and you park on the street in the blocks nearby. They have a map at the front desk, so make sure you know exactly where to park. Price was decent. The hotels were priced really high that weekend, but I paid an avg of $80 a night. I probably wouldn't stay here with my son with the community bathrooms and all, but definitely would come back with a friend. Most the hostel guests here are in their early 20's, but they were friendly to everyone. I think I had such a blast here that I somehow got sucked back into time and forgot that it had been 10 years since I was living at college. Lol. read more

This hostel was rated as the 7th best in the country. But then again, United States is not known for having luxury hostels. Just luxury hotels. And I'm not so sure how much better the other hostels in the area would be. That being said, the website probably do hype up this hostel. The rooms are not as nice as you would expect, but they're decent. There's lockers, movie theater, clean kitchen, laundry room, free wifi, computer stations, pool table, and a bar serving good drinks. That being said, it's a fun place to meet people from all over the world. That alone is what makes a hostel experience a good one. read more

I have stayed here for four days during my vacation at Miami. The check in does not start until the afternoon, but I was able to drop my luggage in the morning, which is quite convenient. You are allowed to drop your bag at the back of the reception desk, but there is no locker or any security check around the area, so even you can store your bags, I would suggest you don't leave anything precious. The hostel has room of 12 or room of 6 options for shared room. There is a lounge area outside of the living area, and there is a bar right when you step into the hostel. This place provides you breakfast every morning, and it alternates with bagels or waffles. There are also coffee, juice, and fruit come with it. You will have to sign your name at the front desk and then get a ticket to get your portion of breakfast. The room is pretty packed and the ventilation system is not the best. When you have a full room you will be able to smell the old air. The mattress is pretty old and you can feel the metal bar underneath on the bed. But I am not complaining since it is quite cheap and also when you are tired, you simply knock out every night. So honestly, this did not bother me too much. The people at the hostel are quite nice and diverse. Many people come here alone and willing to talk and make new friends. I had definitely encountered many interesting people and learned from them. I would say it is quite easy to make friends by simply start a conversation with people sitting at the lounge or during breakfast time. The shower at the hostel is OK. The water and shower head are functioning but they could have set up a little bit more hangers for people to put their clothes at least for the girls bathroom. There are two bathrooms, one located at the first floor and the other located on the second. You get more shower place on the second floor, in case you don't know. In addition, the hostel has events every night goes to different clubs, bars, etc. There normally will have free drinks and also a party bust that bring you to the event. Also, you could borrow volleyball, beach mat, beach umbrella, bikes from the hostel. Pretty convenient. Overall it is a good stay and there were nothing dramatic happened to me. However one of my friend who I met at the hostel has mentioned that there were someone stole her dollar bill. So I would suggest you be careful about your own belongings. This hostel has changed my mind on hostels. I originally (probably still do) hate hostels. If you didn't like dorming in college, you probably don't like hostels. The problem with hostels is that there's a total college bro vibe and you have to enjoy group energy to get down with it. I was and probably still am the bookish nerd in my own little world and don't do cliques. Not to mention at 28, I'm aging out of hostels yet unfortunately I don't make hotel income quite yet (too busy traveling all the time and doing activities to want to pay for hotel prices.) with the frat vibe tends to be frathouse style dorming where shit barely works and is unhygienic. Not the case with SoBe. I love the ladies here who do the housekeeping and make your breakfast. They are the best and their work goes a long way into creating a good experience. If you want to be a beach bum and do miami on the cheap, this hostel makes it possible. Clean linens, umbrella and beach chairs at your disposal, free breakfast and dinner. The toilets are regularly cleaned. I've never ever been to a place where a clogged toilet is unclogged and cleaned within an hour. Food: it's free breakfast so it's not continental but the spread is pretty decent considering what you're paying. They alternated between a bagel with cream cheese (spread) that is freshly toasted for you or a "golden malted" waffle, a piece of fruit, coffee, tang, and ice water. Anyone who's been to a college campus and encountered this brand of waffles knows it ain't shabby for a dry mix. For dinner, the few times I've went down it ain't half bad. I saw pasta with red sauce and ham or chicken on two of the days I went down- it's on par with college cafeteria level. And they're serious about you coming down at 6:30 sharp. Another time it looked like a taco??? Of sorts but I did not wait for that because I don't do tacos. If you're not digging free pasta there's my ceviche next door which is bomb ceviche, poke, and (wretched) seafood tacos which is about 10+. They also have a kitchen with plenty of fridge space. Despite no stove, they have a microwave and toaster oven for you to prep your own food. Location, location, location: a man staying here described the sleepy little sea sobe is in as "SoFi" (south of fifth) which is super nice since it's mostly residential with a few small shops. It's not loud, filthy, and obnoxious like the main strip around 8th is. The beach here is far superior to the stop further up north because you can get a clean little patch to yourself and soak in the rays. You lower your risk of laying in cigarette butts and some rando coming off of ocean dr to hit on you while you're trying to tan. This hostel is literally two blocks away from the beach. You don't need a car or to worry about parking here. Just bring some water, sunscreen, and your Sunnies and go. The room: I stayed in a 12 bed unisex and a 4 bed female only dorm on two separate occasions (on the same trip). The beds are the same for each - a bunk with a thin plastic covered (6" I would say) mattress that you set up yourself. The guests were very considerate in the 12 person room. There are AC window units in all rooms so you actually have some level of control or the temps of your sleeping quarters and the lte was strong both upstairs and downstairs. When I returned I stuck to the 4 person room because I'm very fickle with my sleep and I'm glad I did that because despite staying in the middle of July, I pretty much had the whole room to myself for about a week. Other accommodations: as of 2018, a load of laundry is a reasonable 1.50 with soap for 1.00. If you bring your linens back, they will give you clean ones for free. Currently they charge a 10$ deposit for a wrist band to enter your room which is decent considering how annoying it is to lock yourself out of your room and handing a chip card when coming out of the shower. And honestly, the people here don't suck. They're no where as obnoxious as I imagined and most are on the more mature side of our 20s minding our own businesses, not gangly awkward 20 year olds. I'm sure they exist but they were not on my radar. There are a few more mature guests but they were very polite. As a solo woman, the worst harassment I've experienced at this place was from a bar patron when I was trying to enjoy a beer alone but thankfully due to their strict no guests policy in the rooms I was easily able to shake him off. read more

I could give a negative rating if that was an option. I had reservations with SoBe hostel Miami 2 times in the past. One very recent experience and one was last year. I will list out each experience in detail, do read it with patience as it will save you a lot of money and a very bad experience. Our Latest reservation - Feb27th to March1st with Hostelworld.com Our Booking: We reserved the 6-Bed dorm for 5 people. Our issue: 2 of us were travelling from NJ and other from Philadelphia. Now due to bad weather in NJ that day out flight got delayed and unfotunately the airlines was overbooked and other 3 people couldn't travel that day and the airlines booked a ticket for them for next day. the Checkin Experience: So the 2 of us reached hostel around midnight, which was 3 hours later than we expected to arrive. First of all the guy on the reception, I can't recall the name but he had a beard and only top half shaven mustache. This guy lacked basic talking skills and manners. He said that we cannot checkin without the guy who made the reservation. Well that makes sense, they must have their own rules. So we asked if there was a way we could checkin. Well you would think there must be some way since we paid in full. He said that there is no other way and since we arrived after midnight, he would not even make a new reservation for us for an extra pay. We asked if we could check-in the next day once the guy who made reservation is here. he plainly refused saying we are already late and our booking will be cancelled anyways. On asking what are we supposed to do since we don't have any place to stay, he rudely replies " I don't care. Just go to some Holiday Inn". When asked for a solution, his only reply is contact hostelworld to get your money back, we cannot do anything, which we cannot do immediately as they don't have an US number. He never even mentioned to contact someone from SoBe customer service saying they won't do anything about it. Now when after the trip we contacted SoBe customer care, guess what their answer was. You could have emailed us the same day only. like seriously. you expect people to email you when they are stranded and worried like hell in the middle of the night? We still don't have any money refunded or as little as an apology from SoBe hostel. Solution :-So after roaming around for 2 hours we were able to find an alternate accomodation at 2am for a ridiculous amount as it was a busy time and every place was fully booked. Overall Experience:- SoBe has a very rude and very unprofessional staff, who will not even listen to you. They don't care about customer service or anything else over the fact that they can make money over people's misery. Our Reservation : - Nov21st to Nov 23rd 2018 Our Booking:- We booked for 4 people in an 8-bed dorm. Checkin Experience:- We reached a little early than the checkin time. The person who was there at that time was very nice. Offered to store our luggage. guided us that we can use the common restroom and common area until the checkin time. At checkin time everything went smoothly and we were checked in no time. Stay Experience:- The first night was ok. No problems. although the beds are really noisy, mattress too thin, and almost no hot water in the showers. I ignored those facts and enjoyed my first night's stay anyways. The second night, we returned from a party and I find someone sleeping on my bed. On going to the reception and asking the person there, he says that he asked that person to sleep there "thinking" that bed is empty. When asked to wake him up and get my bed back, he say he cannot do that as a customer is sleeping. very well then . I am your customer too, what am I supposed to do? He literally said just sleep on some other bed. So again at 2am in the night I am making my bed because of staff's mistake. Action:- I did complain about the guy at the reception, but no solution and no contact from SoBe customer service ever. overall Experience:- It was average, like I said, beds were noisy, mattress were too thin, and the staff -Unprofessional. read more

This is an average hostel, with international people, nice service, and a bar in front in a good neighborhood with great proximity to everything! It's worth the price. They have RFID bracelet keys, so you don't have to worry about losing keys--LOVED this convenience! (You can take a city bus from the airport till about 2 blocks away for about $2.25, and it'll take almost the same amount of time as an Uber at night. The buses are pretty new, safe, & filled with airport people.) Check-in takes a bit, but they're straight forward. The place is kept up about average. The people staying there are very diverse. Free simple breakfast in the morning is something to fill your stomach. The trips planned seemed to be worth it per my Argentinian roommate. Beware the workers are very peppy and loud in the morning, so if you want to sleep in after a crazy night, bring ear plugs. They're very nice, though. Showers have a small puddle, and it was hard to get warm water maybe after a certain time. Temperature was perfect for one sheet and a long-sleeved shirt in the rooms, but if you get cold, pay for an extra set of linens. Don't bring pricey valuables, but bring a padlock if you want to keep something locked away under the bed. The bar there is convenient. If I want to save money again for Miami lodging, I'd stay here again. read more

Feels like jail and my towel had sh*t on it. Literally little pieces of it as if someone wiped their behind and no one washed it. It was a strange atmosphere as soon as you walk in. After checking in, we went to our room which they luckily put all 6 of us in one room. The room did not have any sheets and towels, which they later brought in. Luckily we were only staying there for one night. This place was grotesque! I guess you get what you pay for. I had enough when I saw the crap on my towel, which by the way are old beach towels that they probably keep from people leaving them behind. The bathrooms were disgusting as well and very smelly. I rated SoBe 3 stars because the staff there were extremely welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. This definitely is a great hostel to stay at if you are new to Miami, on a budget, and want to hit up the party spots. Every night I was there they had a 30 min-1 hour "open bar" which consistent of pretty much free rum/cokes or something of the sort. Then a party bus would pick up the entire hostel (or everyone that paid for a $10 wristband) and take them to a bar or club. This was a lot of fun and a great way to meet people and see the Miami party scene. The staff also had a free breakfast and dinner every night. It wasn't your gourmet meal but it was FREE and got all the hostel goers in the same room which I believe SoBe was trying to go after. I feel this hostel could be a LOT better with a couple small changes. They are currently renovating their bathrooms which I think will make a huge difference. The women's restrooms were not nice. That's a pretty big change but I think something as simple as new sheets and towels would go a long way. They get a lot of traffic in there but the towels and sheets were old and it doesn't matter how many times you wash them they still look and feel gross. It may have been the other travelers but my room had a certain odor to it, something a fan or air freshener plug in could have helped with. It's a place for the young adults. Besides the expected, housekeeping and management deserve top marks for keeping things clean (bathrooms, hallways, common areas) with an ever-active gang of people looking to share a good time. They keep the party (pretty much constant after dark) in the lobby and out of the rooms. Free clean towels and sheets, beach towels are furnished whenever and as often as you like at the friendly front desk. Sleeping: it's Spartan. Tiny bunk beds 4, 8, or 12 to a room, but each has a locker underneath (you'll need a padlock). A string of bright cartooning lights overhead, air conditioner in a small window that that doesn't open. Never mind. Never mind? That's right. Because the very best beach if the South of Fifth village-like enclave is two short blocks away. Terrific amenities: bars and clubs, but also a spotless huge Publix grocery store (rudimentary communal kitchen with shared refrigerator and microwave), and r restaurants from cheap-cheap to the star-studded Steak 112. South Pointe Park also right there, where cruise ships pass by at sunset like festive apartment houses. Add local and airport public transportation at the door (25 cents for the South Beach Local loop. $2.65 express every 20-30 minutes.) Every night, a party bus picks up the gang for pub-crawl or nightclub fun with guaranteed VIP entry. They come back late, plastered and rowdy, but the staff keeps the on. And by morning, when you come to the lobby for free bagels or waffles, fresh fruit and coffee...it's like, all OK man. read more

I don't know what some people who write reviews experienced in their lifes! Maybe their parents booked Hotels for them an told them that it is a Hostel! Hey folks; go to wikipedia an look up Hostel! I've been traveling since three months through the southern States and this spot is one of the best I've ever been. Bed are ok to sleep ( Hostel) bathroom is ok! There is Staff that try to keep it clean couple times a day! My room was ok to move even if there were 8 people in it.... Staff at the Reception is very nice and always there if you need help! Free wifi works perfect and lobby is very friendly ! Room price are ok for Miami South Beach... The only really annoying and bad thing is the Bar and its TOO LOUD music or wannabe DJ's at the Weekend! It's hard to speak with friends or chat/skype or listen to sth @ the PC because the music is always so loud and FUCKING Bullshit!!! Its not the first review against that, I hope they change that soon... I have fond memories of this quaint little hostel, as I stayed here on my very first trip to South Beach 3 years ago. It's a small place, but the crowd is always fun, eclectic and international. I've met some great people staying here. And the bar inside offers happy hour specials and cheap drinks if you're wanting to pre-game before your night on the town. I wasn't staying here by choice and this was my first hostel experience. But I ain't feeling it. Sorry I NEED warm water when I shower. Apparently all the times I showered I NEVER even got lukewarm water, some how my bunkmates managed. Only 2 of the 3 women's bathroom doors close and one of the toilet's had a missing top. My high school gym's bathroom was cleaner and that's not saying much. As with any hostel, I advise you bring flip flops, which I was smart enough to do. The towels are still somewhat damp so I might suggest bringing your own. They have bunkbeds for you to sleep on but they don't really provide any blankets beside a sheet. Only redeeming factor, the staff seem somewhat friendly and the folks that stay there are pretty chill and friendly. It is close to the beach and the whole scene but personally I need to be in atleast a motel or some Craiglist's housing. read more

Spent 1 week in Miami Beach and stayed in this hostel. I changed my room 3 times. I would give 3.5 overall ratings to this hostel. For hostel itself I would give at least 4 stars. But there are just a lot of guests there are annoying. There is one who is snoring and he sleeps 2 inches close to me. The management should really try to control whoever stays here. Stayed here twice. The rooms kinda suck, but the lounge and bar area is whre you want to spend your time anyways. The atmosphere here is unlike any other hostel that I've been to. The staff are all down to earth, which is very rare in Miami. The bartenders were especially cool; friendly and not out to get all your money. For one of our nights we moved to a nearby hostel to save some dough, but at night we found ourselves back at the SoBe bar. read more

What can you say about this Hostel? Well, I was unsure if I walked into a nightclub, pub, or a dorm but it was quite the experience for this traveller: PROS: 1) friendly and knowledgeable staff always willing to help 2) location was only a few blocks from beach 3) Clean rooms and really good Air Conditioning units in rooms (the German and I had a disagreement when he came in and turned A/C from max cool to just off) 4) music selection 5) activities Cons: 1) more outlets in lobby be cool 2) toiletries available for purchase All in all top three hostel I ever stayed in read more

Its only a hostel after all, right? i mean its website boasts beautiful pictures and includes great amenities such as free breakfast, free dinner, an airport shuttle, a business center, even smoke free. Well do i even have to tell you that none of these are true? So lets start from the beginning. We book online like the website tells us to. And it states ALL taxes and fees are included including the resort fee and cleaning fee and all the other funky fees they put in there. So you see the amount and you're like," Okie this is my total amount and it even tells you what you pay online and then the final amount due at the desk. So i pay and then we check in later that night. And they tell us its actually 11 dollars more per night because they add taxes and fees as well on top of taxes and fees from before. So we say we already had them included and the hotel tells us they know that but they don't control how the website works but they charges taxes and fees there too. So we pay. Then we get in the room and here's a few things we discovered during our stay CONS----------- -No free dinner -Breakfast consists of 1 waffle, coffee or a cup of water. That's it -BEST PART: the butter for your pancakes was bad. it had turned sour and was frozen but had separated and was chunky. When you ask the staff and let them know they say oh its definitely bad we will make you a new waffle. YET THEY REFUSE TO TAKE IT DOWN AND CONTINUE SERVING RANCID BUTTER TO OTHERS AND CLAIM"I told the manager." REALLY???? Dont you think it should have been taken down once the manager was holding rancid butter in his hand? Oh no just make the guy a new waffle and forget it all happened. -No airport shuttle -No business center -Definitely not smoke free. Don't be out at night and sensitive to smoke or have asthma because cigar and cigarette smoke fills the common areas up front. -Urinals in the bathroom don't actually work _Showers may occasionally work but only 1 out of 3 during our stay -Power outlets are either fried or shorted out -Finding ripped or cut extension cords with exposed wires is normal in the bar area -"Air Conditioning" consists of VERY OLD window air conditioners. Some dont work some dont even have buttons to operate them. Only at night is it cool. -The little restaurant attached consists of a little window where you order, and let me tell you all about the food safety they follow. The frozen foods truck and the fruits and veggies truck rolls up and the staff verify what comes off the trucks. Now you would think in 89 degree weather that it heads directly into the fridge or freezer. NOOOO , quite the opposite. For ONE hour and FORTY minutes i was downstairs watching those boxes sit in the heat on the sidewalk with open boxes and people walking by it animals doing animal things and still no one paid attention to it. I left after that so who knows when it actually made it into the refrigeration. -Those lovely pics of beautiful furniture you see all over the internet? Not anymore my friend. Now its broken down beat up couches, chairs, tables and dirty floors that dont see a good cleaning often. And I GUARANTEE you wont be impressed with those beautiful dorm rooms either with falling apart metal lockers that dont close, ripped and torn mattresses, doors that dont close.... Ohh and i woke up to a maintenance man walking around with a can of white spray paint spraying anything that might not look white or was peeling or stained. There is so much more to tell but i guess i have to leave that for you to discover on your own. And yes this post will be shared on all other social media and booking sites. You might as well have an honest review instead of people writing good reviews because the staff offer a discount for good reviews. P.S. This place was okay, but granted I've only stayed in one other hostel in the US, and I was in college. That being said I think hostels are definitely for when you're younger. Our room (a private) had only beds in it, not even a nightstand or anything, but it was alright. The street noise (not from hostel customers) was so loud! at 5am! But I'm sure that depends on what side you're on. Inside the hostel was quiet at night, but don't expect to sleep in. People in the hall are a bit noisy. But all of these things are pretty common in a hostel I'm sure. The price was great, $25 each a night. A/C worked pretty well (for Miami). The bar/restaurant was nice too, but limited drinks and food. Staff was very nice and helpful. Everyone staying here was hot! HA, I love people traveling from other countries :) If I was younger I would have liked this more, but now I'm an old man (28, ha) read more

Loved the place. It's so close to the beach. The staff was very helpful. The events they organize with top notch. They provide good tasty food. The only downside is the bedding. The mattress is not good. Overall I have a good experience. read more

This hostel is absolutely awesome! The staff is very welcoming and always answered to all of our questions. We felt at "home" there. The emplacement is very nice, and close to a lot of nice places. Breakfast and dinner (include) are great! We were planning to stay 2 nights there, because we already booked in another hostel before we arrived, but decided to come back to the SoBe Hostel for two more nights. We've had a lot of fun, and met awesome people from everywhere. read more

First time staying in a hostile and I have to say I'm most impressed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, people I met where fun. It's fairly clean and people with bad reviews need to lighten up its not a $300 hotel. I would recommend bringing a lock (slim one, padlocks don't fit on all locks below bed, but my airline lock did) The shuttle bus comes at 4x during the day at gate J-28. Be on the second floor level it doesn't go to 1st floor. Can always call and check. If you do not like to party at night you can stay in your room. If you do they have drink specials and brought us to a big Miami club and bar for $25 included party bus. Heck of a deal and less than half cover for the club. I would definitely consider coming back. Fun experience I never would of got staying at a normal hotel and the shuttle and club discount saved far more than my $32 stay. read more

I stayed last night here with my girl friends because the Airbnb we were staying in wasn't available. I actually had a very bad experience at my Airbnb and once we got to the hostel we wished we could've stayed there from the beginning. It was such a cool and chill place with a very nice environment. The halls had very cool decor and the room was clean. They provided clean sheets and towels upon arrival. Lucky for us the 4th person (guy) stayed somewhere else that night and we were able to just change and do our things without bothering anyone. It was our first time at a hostel so sharing the bathroom was an experience! We were bummed we couldn't take advantage of the pool party they promoted, party bus, flip cup tournament, nikki beach, etc. I would definitely return! If I had to request something, I would request a long mirror at least on the 2nd floor hallway (the first floor has one) since us girls like to look at ourselves when we get dressed haha. read more

I had the worst experience EVER. Will NEVER step foot in this place AGAIN. First me and my best friend arrived around 12am we go to check in and Donald the night tIme person was so damn rude didn't explaiin anything to us just gave us our keys threw us our sheets and that was it.. when we get into the room (mind you we asked to be in a all female room) there's two dudeS sleeping in the room. So we asked him to switCh our room aND he made us wait until the following day to see If a room was available so needless to say our first night there, wwe slept in the car because we didn't feel comfortable sleeping with other men. We wake up for breakfast and all they had was BREAD and COFFEE and WATER like wtf was that a Miami diet. When I asKed if this was it the front desk lady said that, that's was it because the owner didn't order "enough". Like, seriously?! So I get my TWO slices of bread and my coffEe and keep it moving. So we finally get our room moved and the front desk girl said out was out of common curtesy... seriously?! Anyway, we go to our room put our stuff down and about to freshen up because we already had some activities scheduled, so we go to the bathroom OMFG first stall toilet was clogged and filleed with shit, the second one is out of order, the this one is also filled anD clogged with shit. I wanted to die. This shit was ridiculous. We were so disgusted but at this point we have no othEr choice but to stay so we said we were going to thug it ouT.... If you are looking for sleep, KEEP LOOKING!! This hostel is set up for partying. They organize bus trips every night to local bars and clubs leaving around 11:00 pm. The busses arrive back at 2:30 or 3:00 am each night. The partiers are loud and don't care about those of us who would like to sleep. There is loud talking, singing, shouting, etc. The women's bathroom door slammed hundreds of times a night because the door closer was not adjusted right. Unfortunately, my room was just across the hall. You can hear the people in the next room fairly clearly. There is a bar at the entrance to the hostel that is quite noisy. You have to walk through the bar to get to the registration desk. I am SO sleep deprived after 5 days. Never again!! The staff was helpful but reserved. At times if felt like I was annoying them just waiting in line. When I asked to have the women's bathroom door adjusted they said it would be done right away. Two days later they said it was fixed. I checked and it was still slamming. I had to speak directly with the maintenance guy to finally get it fixed. The accommodations were adequate. The rooms that I was in was small with about 18" between the beds. The mattresses are vinyl and very uncomfortable. The springs are gouging you all night long. My pillow was like a rock. I changed it but it was still too hard. My room had a stack of lockers that were big enough for all my stuff. I purchased a lock from SOBE for $5. Breakfast is bagels, bananas, oranges and coffee or OJ. NEED PROTEIN! I never ate dinner at SOBE. The bathrooms are crowded. At times, there is not nearly enough space for all the guests. The paper towels ran out twice while I was there. Since the focus is on partying, I think the patrons overlook the shortcomings of the SOBE hostel. It felt like a meat market. The price was average for the area but I would pay more for better accommodations. I will be more prepared next time when staying at a hostel, with ear plugs and eye mask. Next time, I will stay at another hostel in the area that is more geared toward courtesy and sleep. read more

Jesus H. Christ! This is by far the worst place I've ever spent the night and I've been to jail on more than one occasion. I'm going to start with a stern warning. DO NOT STAY HERE! The only way this place is this bad is it might be a transition point for people from 3rd-world countries to come to Miami. You know, to not shock them too much by emulating their culture. The beds, which are the most important part of a hostel, are the worst thing ever. It would have made more sense to just sleep on the floor. The rickety metal bed has the build quality of a cheap Big Lots swing set. The mattress is constructed of a very welcoming vinyl not too different of an inflatable kiddie pool. The bed has an amazing ability to amplify not only the most miniscule of movements by the sleeper but also farts. If I had to guess the bed has the ability to increase a farts sound by 8 times the original decibel. I slept on the top bunk so when the person below me rolled over I felt like I was on a mechanical bull at a Texas steakhouse. Sometimes in the middle of the night I felt as if I needed to start twirling my cowboy hat and start yelling "giddy up" just because the person below me was searching for the cool side of the pillow. Bleach... The entire place smelled like bleach all the time. As if the YMCA took a shit in this place. It smelled like they were in a constant chemical war with their own filth. The one bathroom per floor accompanied by this smell made a simple "Shit Shower and Shave" session a bit more difficult than usual. If I see one more European guy's dong, I'm going to push a pencil through my eyes. Pavel couldn't figure out that no one wanted to see his meat and two veg and felt it necessary to accidentally do the helicopter for all of us traumatized shower goers to be forced to see. I defiantly don't want to drop the soap in this place. Make sure you wear your flip-flops in the shower as well for obvious reasons. A fellow traveler warned me of the female's restroom too. She explained to me that apparently the razor hasn't made it's way to China yet due the the state of the nude Chinese girls walking around in there. The floor on every floor including the ground floor seemed spongy. Almost like the place had recently been in a floor. I guess the bleach smell might be their attempt to kill anything that might start growing in the floors and walls due the the swampy feeling that place gave off. The crappy powerpoint display in the "lobby" advertized that they will take you to party. They seemed disappointed that we didn't want to go and insisted they would take us. I could only imagine what kind of gay bar you'd end up in with that European guy doing the helicopter. No thanks. I'll stay in my room and protect my belongings from you and whatever is crawling around in that place. To sum it up, this place made me question my faith in God. If you enjoy a complete lack of sleep, looking at European guy's dongs, and smelling like you slept in a gym then this place is for you. read more

BRING A LOCK. My first night staying here I got money stolen from me while sleeping, as did another girl in my room. (Pssst management, you have a problem on your hands. I suggest fixing the broken bunk lockers and providing your guests with locks) their meals are very minimal and having a gluten free restriction was difficult to eat here. For breakfast I had a banana. If you don't like to party, don't stay here. If you love to party and socialize, you'd probably enjoy this. Also wishing the staff showed just a little more hospitality. read more

Stayed here with 3 friends so it was only us four in a room together no strangers. We skipped the breakfast and dinner and just went out, but if ur super strapped for cash then go ahead and indulge. The rooms were clean and I was able to shower so that's all I cared about. We were out having fun all day so the only time we came back to the hostel was to shower to get ready for the nightlife. They have a party bus that comes to pick up the group (that paid $20 ) and drops us off and bars and the chosen club for that night. We had a great time I'd stay here again. It's so close to everything. Honestly if you don't like to party then don't stay here. read more
