It was my husband's first time in Miami. We decided to bring our two small dogs with us for a weekend stay from Palm Beach and after much research, we decided on the Pelican Hotel. Our experience was absolutely phenomenal. The food was incredible, the service was the best we've ever had, the room was adorable and the hotel was beyond clean and quiet. We stopped at this hotel and they could not seem to rent us a room at the front desk. So we did it from the car parked in front of the hotel. It's a cute hotel with small but nicely appointed rooms. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They talked us into valet parking at $42 a day. The first time we asked for our car, it took 54 minutes and we got a myriad of excuses. We were clear that we would no longer use their valet parking. They still tried to bill us for the second day when we checked out. There is a nice parking garage a block and a half away on 7th street. That is $15 and a 3 minute walk. You can always park in front of the hotel when you need to. You get a free drink and 20% off the food menu except when we ordered some appetizers with our free drink. They leave the tv on in the room even when we leave it off and the ac very cold at 63 degrees. The oddest thing was, as a 35 year professional traveler, I arranged my suitcase in a particular way and after the room was serviced, it was obvious someone went through it. About that I am sure. The staff and owners were friendly and accommodating, the rooms all had their own theme and were perfectly cleaned, and the scent in this hotel is just amazing. Stayed for 4 days and 3 nights. Really good customer service..polite and courteous staff. Nice concept and every room is unique. Our room was 315 - up up in the sky. Pretty decent room and would definitely like to try some other room next time we visit. Perfect location..right across the beach. Perks included - free breakfast, happy hours (2drinks free per person), beach chairs and beach towels. Totally enjoyed it. The drinks were amazing and besides it was free :) We had evening flight and the staff allowed us to keep our bags there even after check out. What a great place that lived up to my Miami Beach perception. The good: Rooms. If someone is complaining the room is too small spring for a suite but if you are spending too much time in your room you aren't enjoying Miami. Guest services: we arrived early due to disembarking from a weekend cruise. I didn't expect our rooms to be ready but they made the attempt to get us a room. No luck, but that was ok since they offered luggage storage. Location: across from the beach and was actually quiet in the evening considering it was busy on the streets. $15 resort fee ? Can I say this is actually the first time in which I didn't feel cheated. We had a small fridge stocked with two waters, use of beach chairs and umbrellas. (These are set up by the way so you just show up. There are attendant's who will validate your stay at the hotel.) Breakfast was included and it was a decent selection that left us satisfied. Happy hour drinks were also included and they were good. No watered down drinks. Overall great service and stay. The general manager was very pleasant to deal with and I appreciate her assistance on our booking that was sent wrong by Hotwire. Special shout out to our dinner server Vanessa and if I got the name wrong I blame it on the drinks Why four instead of five, service at breakfast could have been a notch more attentive since we had to ask for refills and waitress was seldomly around. read more

I was planning a weekend trip to Miami (November 11th-14th) and of course I immediately searched hotels using Priceline and cross referencing with Yelp. I am forever grateful for all the Yelp reviews that lead me to the Pelican hotel. The reviews were pretty much spot on! For me, South Beach is an interesting place since it seems like these smaller non-chain hotels are the way to go. But the Pelican Hotel had great reviews and was decently priced in comparison to other hotels in the areas of high quality. I was slightly hesitant because all of the rooms are decorated with different themes and I didn't want to get stuck in an over the top room. But thankfully my room was pretty tame. So here's the run down, the Pelican Hotel is located on Ocean Drive which is directly across from the beach. There are many other hotels, bars, and restaurants in the area, therefore it is action packed and full of people. I arrived on a Friday night and was caught up in some pretty serious traffic along Ocean Drive. If you are driving, know that there is valet parking for $27 a day. I'm not sure if there was anything more reasonable in the area but this seemed like the easiest option and street parking around here is a joke at $4 an hour. $4 an hour? Where do they do that at? But anyways, upon check in I was informed that there would also be a $15 a day resort fee. I saw another review complaining about this additional fee; however it is SOOOO worth it. You get a $9 credit at breakfast, a beach towel( I also think they mentioned something about a chair but I definitely know they give towels), AND you get 2 free drinks during happy hour (4pm-6pm). There were also 2 complimentary bottles of sparkling, yes sparkling water in the mini fridge each day. In other words, if you eat breakfast, have the two drinks at happy hour, and drink fancy water that's actually more than a $15 value. Finally, there is also turn down service with chocolates and a little card telling you the weather forecast for the week! I thought the forecast card was such a unique gesture. My room was clean. The bed was actually quite hard but that's honestly my only complaint. As I mentioned before, this hotel is located right across from the beach, its in the mix of all the action, there is a citi bike stand not too far away, there was a drug store not too far away. Overall, the Pelican Hotel did not disappoint and I'd definitely return. read more

The Viva Las Vegas room at the Pelican Hotel is a drag queen's dream! Well, maybe a drag queen on a budget. Not a slight by any means, but a true diva-licious drag queen might demand a bit more luxury out of her hotel room. However for lil ol' me, it was just fine. Each room at The Pelican Hotel has it's own distinctive, fun theme. I can only imagine what some of the other rooms were like. Although my room was modest in size, it was playful and full of color and flamboyant chachkis. Just don't dive onto the bed with all of your weight. It's not as soft as it looks. I also will mention for you claustrophobes, the room felt a bit snifling shaped in a fairly small square with just one small window. However, if you've come to South Beach to live it up, this shouldn't really matter since this will probably become just a place to shower and rest your head. For this, it's all goodies. Plus, it's right in the mix of everything. Step out anytime after 9pm and there will be tons of action just a few steps past the entry of the hotel. Definitely a great deal for the dollar! read more

The hotel is absolutely in the most perfect local - on Ocean right at 8th, so you can walk across the street to the sand, cruise up to the clubs, down to Nikki Beach, over to Washington or Collins and hit more restaurants, spas and clubs, Walgreen's is just around the corner on 5th and is open 24 hours so you are never without anything. Every room has a cute little name and the names on every door. You get beach chairs and towels if you want them - again FREE. Wireless internet is also FREE. 4 Bottles of water in your room - yes, it's free too. Oh and free breakfast everyday AND two free drinks per person every day...love that! We didn't have any real view from the room, but who cared. We didn't hang out there, heck we practically didn't even sleep there -it's SoBe!! The bed was firm as others have said, but I found it very comfortable. The rain shower shower head is great too. Each room has a blow dryer, basic lotions, shampoos, etc. The closet was awesome and the dresser was a big help for storage. The walls in our room were so cool. The vibe was awesome. It was pretty quiet overall. Loved the iPod stereo in the room. Put on Pandora with the free WiFi and was all set with music for the whole stay. Gave us all the towels we wanted too! I am a hotel brat. There, I said it. The least hotel I will generally stay at is a Kimpton brand....and I turn my nose up at anything less. However, the Pelican was amazzzzzzing! In trying to figure out where to stay, we kept going back and forth and back and forth. The Pelican gave us a fantastic Florida resident rate--our total stay for a night was $212. Did I mention that $212 included...valet, complimentary drinks for two hours, complimentary FULL (delicious!) breakfast, A-MAZING service and beach chairs AND umbrellas for not one, but TWO days at the beach? We had a room for two and it (and hotel!) also held up to my boutique standards...each room has a different theme and is very funky, well decorated, with modern, clean bathrooms. The front desk bent over backwards, for anything we needed. Not to mention the location, right on Ocean, is amazing. Granted, as people said, there is no pool...but when you have that amazing beach in front of you....who cares? We will definitely be back! Our room was amazing and the whole hotel is decorated magnificently. The staff are over the top nice; we stayed four nights and everyone knew us and our room number right away. The food is good too and you CANNOT BEAT free (anything you want) two hour happy hour daily. Amazing! We also happened to come at a time where there was free breakfast daily. It was great food and a variety of offers! The location of this place is perfect! Right near many places to eat and the beach is across the street! We easily walked all over South Beach to different destination points and clubs (we never took a cab)! Over all, this was one of the best vacation experiences I have ever had. I'm lucky. Very lucky. I booked the Pelican via Hotwire and was so happy with what we got. My wife and I were graciously greeted by the general manager. He asked if we wanted our beds pushed together and we said yes. He asked if we could wait a few minutes to get the bed ready and escorted us to the bar for our complementary 2 free daily drinks. That free drink menu was extensive and included some spicy concoctions that I of course had to try. The drinks were eclectic and excellent and we looked forward to 2 more days of those free happy hour drinks! We were assigned to the Some Like it Wet Room and had a great time living in the lap of 1920s naval luxury. It's rare to find a boutique hotel with *free wifi, *a room safe and *a mini fridge for all the pre-party booze (and maybe some leftover seafood). We loved our time in Miami and the Pelican. I'm just sorry that we didn't get to try the complimentary breakfast because we needed the sleep. If I ever get to go to Miami again, I'll do my best to stay at the Pelican.....if only Hotwire can guarantee they'll give me that assignment! *Tip 1 Need ice for your beer and booze? I called the front desk and the GM brought me an ice bucket. I've stayed in South Beach several times and love checking out the different boutique hotels. The Pelican by far is the best one I've stayed at. From the moment you check in to when you check out, the entire staff makes you feel like a welcome guest. The rooms: love that they're all themed! We got a boat-themed room (305) with two double beds. The amenities included: fresh towels, room service 2x a day, toiletries, bottled water and a safe. The restaurant/bar: breakfast and 2 happy hour drinks per guest are included in the resort fee. Breakfast is sit-in and made per order, and is the perfect portion size. Drinks are from 4pm-6pm, and are from a select menu. Beach service: Beach towels and chairs are included in the resort fee. I wish I'd known we could access nearby gyms (this is from recently reading reviews)! But honestly, this place is located in the middle of everything and if you stay in the general area, you can pretty much walk anywhere. My friend and I did take an uber to nearby areas like Bayside, Biscayne Boulevard and Little Havana and the airport, and the most we paid per ride was $15. The hotel room: Clean sheets and towels, well serviced and maintained everyday, supplies were kept up with, bed was on the stiff side (but I prefer that, so it worked out beautifully). Room is small but what else do you need besides a bed and a full bathroom? The hotel restaurant: Menu had a variety to choose from, food was good (nothing special), the free breakfast was decent but a little on the smaller serving size, but there are plenty of other places to eat within walking distance, food availability outside of hotel was not a problem. The hotel bar: Menu had a variety to choose from as well, drinks were decently made, the free drinks were on the smaller serving size as well, but they did the trick. Happy hour was alive but no DJ, just playing music from a playlist. The hotel staff: The bar tender was easy going and helpful. The restaurant hostesses were nice and friendly. The waiters and waitresses were nice and attentive. The check-in staff was good too, especially Wendell! The hotel managers/supervisors were nice. Overall the hotel staff was nice and able to help when needed. They did seem as if they were either tired, lazy, or burned out...as they didn't have the BEST vibrant/outgoing personalities, but I can't say I had a personal problem with any of them. The hotel atmosphere/ambiance: It was not as loud as I thought it would be at night. Getting rest went well, I can't complain. A good vibe throughout the hotel, and no major problems I can complain about. Overall: I thought it was a great experience overall. Being directly on Ocean Dr. was awesome! Right in front of the park, and all the action on the South Miami beach strip was great. It allowed me to be fully immersed in the experience. In my opinion, the price you pay for the hotel room is well worth it. I would stay here again, and I do recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good price or is on a budget. But don't let that last sentence fool you, because even if on a budget, you will still have a good experience overall at this hotel. But if you are bougie, or expect something "fancy" or "classy", then I recommend you find something in midtown Miami. I give it a 4-star simply because it's not a 5-star hotel. read more

When we called and asked whether a particular room we were interested in has a view on the ocean the staff told us, with a gusto - "ALL our rooms have a view on the ocean!". Yay! Who can resist a neon green, cute hotel with ALL rooms facing the Atlantic. We show up, and it turns out that only a few of their rooms face the park and the ocean. The rest face the neighboring building's dirty walls. When we confronted the reception staff, he raised his voice and got all defensive. "I don't know who told you that! It wasn't me! Yeah you can talk to the manager after she gets back from overseas!". After which he pro forma "promised" to email the manager and get back to us... Needless to stay we never heard anything. Other than employees who are either lying or rude (or both), the hotel is all right. Cute rooms, although quite disfunctional: we got a suite with a "kitchenette" with no utensils and not even a pot for making tea or coffee. What's the point ?? The food and the drinks are the generic Olympic avenue stuff, the music is extra loud. But I gotta say that the thing that *really* annoyed me was the requirement to wear a neon green plastic "bracelet" for the whole time we were there ! If you take it off they won't give you a new one AND all your access to beach chairs and other things are cancelled! WTF?? Are there more creative ways to make people feel like cattle ? How about requiring us to get a neon tattoo ?! read more

Boutique with a twist (with an amazing breakfast). We had an amazing time here at the Pelican, with an advanced check-in at 1pm, by Sugey. The Front Desk at the hotel has been super friendly and helpful, and they try to do anything to make your experience a wonderful stay. One needs to be prepared when booking a room at the Pelican, they are either Diesel fans, or just like funky boutique hotels, otherwise, everything else would just be cheesy. We booked and asked for another "themed" room, but got Psychedelic Girl. The wall of the room was insane, but in the most fun way possible. Each day we also got one bottle of still and one bottle of sparkling San Pellegrino, so everyone in the room had at least two bottle of water. The daily 4-6pm complimentary drinks (2 for each guest) was very generous, while the Mojitos were extremely tasty. The daily hot breakfasts were also extremely delicious, to the point where I was ordering the eggs benedict for two days in a row. Okay, for the price you pay, this hotel is freaking amazing!!! However, you have to go in knowing that the hotel is a themed and touristy and cheesy. The PEOPLE were super nice. The people at the front desk, the waitstaff, the bartender always asking "do you girls want some shots?" - all super nice. We stayed in room 303, which is a Queen Suite with an Ocean View. If you go on their website, you can see that the room is (uh) kind of mod-themed, with dark green leather furniture and wood/chrome detailing. Super cute. It's hard to tell in the photos, but it's a super LONG room. You walk in - in front of you is the flat screen TV, to your right is a queen bed, and to your left is a little table with chairs, a chaise, and a giant window of PALM TREES AND OCEAN! It was such a treat to have a comfortable room to sit and relax and enjoy a beautiful view of South Beach. Oh, and all along the window and one side of the "room" part of the suite, there was a tile counter. This was SO convenient! There was room for my friend and I to each put our luggage on the counter, lay out our clothes and toiletries, and sit in front of the window (which doesn't have a screen or anything, so be careful!) to people-watch. Oh, and the shower in the bathroom was soooooo nice. Rainfall showerhead. Ugh. Now, I know that this has been mentioned in basically every review, but it bears repeating: The freebies are AWESOME! They include: 1) 1 free bottle of still water and 1 free bottle of sparkling water EACH day for EACH guest. Why is that amazing? Because then you have water to drink, and when you finish you can re-fill your bottle downstairs with their giant vat of water. And because sparkling water + flavored vodka/rum means having a drink with you at all times. (On the beach. In the ocean. Shopping. Walking.) 2) 1 free towel to check out to go with your daily free beach chair rental. 3) 2 free drinks EACH anytime between 4-6 PM. One day, we got there at 5:50 PM, and our sweet waiter put in both orders at the same time but staggered the drinks so that they wouldn't get warm! So nice. And the drinks are ordered from where ever you wanna sit (inside, outside, at the bar) so it's not like they know you're getting free drinks so they're weak. Oh, and the free drink menu is ridiculously large. Probably at least 20 choices? 4) 1 free breakfast, with real food. Plus all the coffee you'd like, all day long. What can you order? If I remember correctly, 2 eggs any style with cheese on top + meat option + potatoes + bread. Or an omelette with meat, veggies, and cheese + potatoes + bread. Or eggs benedict + potatoes + bread. Or a croissant + cappuccino. Now, would this satiate a 200+lb man? Probably not. But it's freshly cooked and tasty and the perfect amount of food for a morning meal if you're not a body-builder. Okay, okay, there were some un-awesome happenings as well. We stayed 4 nights. One morning, at about 8:30 AM, there was some kind of noise going on outside. Drilling? It was loud enough to wake us up, but we were able to fall back asleep. Another morning, the drilling started at maybe 5 AM. It was louder - I was able to go back to sleep but it bothered my friend enough to go downstairs and ask, "What is that noise? Can you make it stop?" The answer from the night shift guy, "No, it's from the city. Sorry." Except, he was LYING! When we got up at 6:30 to go watch the sunrise, we saw that the drilling was caused by work on THEIR OWN SIGN! Oh, you big liar, you. But I have a feeling you will always be at the mercy of the construction-gods while in South Beach. A. LOT. OF. CONSTRUCTION. Just beware. And bring earplugs. read more

We booked for June 17th-23rd through Expedia.com and unfortunately, we did not review the fine print under "Additional Hotel Services" as closely as we should. It should have read "ADDITIONAL HOTEL FEES." We were not informed of the resort fee of $15 per day upon check-in. This was only brought to our attention when we checked-out. Thank goodness we had the $105 to pay when we checked-out. I strongly suggest that the resort fee is explained to guests when they check-in. This is what should have been explained to us upon check in (located in the "Additional Hotel Services" section of our itinerary which could have easily been misunderstood or overlooked): The below fees and deposits only apply if they are not included in your selected room rate. You'll be asked to pay the following charges at the hotel: Resort fee (January - November): USD 15.00 per accommodation, per night The hotel resort fee includes: Breakfast Beach access Beach loungers Beach towels Nearby fitness center access In-room safe In-room bottled water It would have also been great if we were informed of the location of the nearby fitness center. We didn't notice this on the itinerary. It certainly pays to read the fine print. We had walked around town checking out local fitness centers and their prices because we weren't aware that Pelican hotel guests had access to any fitness center. This should have been explained to us at check-in. Location: This hotel is directly across from the beach. This was very convenient! Topless sunbathing is also allowed. The Pelican is located near lots of fun clubs and restaurants. We felt as if we were directly in the middle of a big party! (STAR) Complimentary Breakfast: I was pleased with the breakfast (included in resort fee), however, I had to order a side of potatoes because the serving size that you receive is very small. Fortunately, the omelets are large are filling. It would have been great if they had included juice, sodas and oatmeal with fruit and nuts on the complimentary menu. The options were limited and what wasn't included on the complimentary menu was overpriced. Happy Hour: Pelican guests receive two complimentary cocktails. We were pleased with the bartenders. They were friendly and the drinks were satisfactory. (STAR) In regards to our rooms (we requested a switch), if you check out their website, you'll discover that each room has a different theme. We stayed in the "Me Tarzan, You Vain" room first. We were happy to have a refrigerator but saddened to find there was NO microwave. :-( This was very disappointing. Another issue with this room was the inability to access the wifi. We were pleased with the size and decor, but we could not go without wifi. We notified the front attendant who informed us that they were sold out of all standard rooms and there wouldn't be one available until Sunday, June 19 at 3 p.m. The room we moved into was "Viva Las Vegas." This room had a weak refrigerator. It did not get as cold as the one we had in the "Me Tarzan, You Vain" room. We informed the staff, they said they'd take a look at it. No improvements with the fridge. Fortunately, the wifi reception was stronger. Sadly, we had a rock-hard mattress. We felt as if we were sleeping on the floor! It was very uncomfortable. :-( Also, I can't go without saying that the hallway on the 3rd floor has a disgusting musty smell. It hits you as soon as you get off the elevator. Yes, we will return to South Beach, Miami but we will be looking for a hotel with more accommodations in their standard rooms. For instance, something as simple as having a microwave is tremendously helpful when you are on a budget. If there were no fridge, we could easily pick up a cooler, but going without a microwave for an entire week was a huge inconvenience. read more

We had been planning a trip down to South Beach for about 5 months prior to our stay here, for our private destination wedding. I spent a couple of months browsing sites, comparing prices, etc. and hadn't found anything that really called out to me as "the place" we wanted to stay. Then, I stumbled upon a review from TripAdvisor about the Pelican, and within minutes I was sold! Our experience here was nothing short of amazing! The hotel is located conveniently on Ocean Drive, near an abundance of nightlife, shopping, dining, etc., all within comfortable walking distance. Anything further was merely a cheap taxi ride away! The service here was very friendly, yet not overly intrusive. A manager was present and visible to the guests every time we were in the lobby, cafe, or bar area. Upon learning of our recent, minutes old, wedding on the beach, we were offered complimentary glasses of champagne and also a couple of t-shirts from the gift shop. We were very flattered by their attentiveness and warm response. Each room of the hotel has a different theme, and ours was the Executive Fifties room. The ocean view was breathtaking, and the sliding windows made for a nice flow of fresh air into our room. The wood floors were a refreshing break from the normal abundance of carpet in most hotel rooms. The decor was era appropriate, kitschy, and fun. The bed was large (king) and a dream to sleep on. The suites were seemingly a bit pricey when I booked them, but after our stay, I can honestly say that the stay & room were a great value! The Pelican Cafe is small, yet elegant and refreshing. Unlike many of the pushy, gimmicky restaurants & cafes along Ocean Dr, it is a quiet, yet inviting, oasis for passersby who have been hassled in their search for beach view dining. The food was nothing short of delectable. I recommend the Steak & Fries with the peppercorn caper sauce. The drinks are also delicious, I had my fill of Bellinis on our stay! I would HIGHLY recommend staying here on your next trip to the South Beach/Miami area! You won't be disappointed! read more

Stunning. Absolutely stunning. I walked in and Wendel was standing by the check-in and said "welcome! I've been waiting for you...."which I assumed was just part of his charm, until he finished his sentence ".........Alexa". He knew my name. He knew who I was the moment I walked in the door. That really blew me away. When I made my reservation I requested one of their funkiest rooms and they replied right away asking what my top 3 choices were so they could try to accommodate my request. Check-in was an absolute breeze. Wendel really went above and beyond to make sure that my stay was spectacular. I learned that The Pelican is owned by the designer Diesel and it took over a year to design and hand select each piece in their custom themed rooms. The attention to detail and exceptional styling of this property is why I will absolutely return. There are so many boutique hotels in South Beach, each with their own concept, but The Pelican truly delivers the service, substance, and style that I have yet to find anywhere else. read more

I don't usually gush, but this place was seriously amazing. My expectations were a little low, because I haven't found South Beach all that friendly to visit in the past. I stayed here for one night before a cruise and nearly everything was great. Arriving at 11pm the staff were still friendly and the restaurant was hopping on a Thursday night. We didn't get our room choice, but loved the art deco theme of our room anyway. I was nervous about the bathrooms because there are few pictures on the website, but I loved the decor and the spacious shower. Breakfast in the hotel was delicious but dinner was a bit disappointing. It was very expensive ($177 for an entree, a baked potato, and 4 cocktails) and the quality of the tomatoes and cheese in the caprese salad was so disappointing. The fried seafood platter was lower the Red Lobster quality for fine dining prices. So, despite the great energy and service, I wouldn't bother with the restaurant when there are so many great options nearby. Still, the hotel itself was a total win. Quirky charm, incredibly friendly people (really, every single person was awesome. I've never seen a hotel manage that before), a fun, comfortable and beautiful room, and a great beach right outside with free beach chairs. I noticed that everyone, regardless of age, size, race or relative hipness was treated with the same charm. That's unusual, and really wonderful to see. read more

The best thing here is the location, if you want to be in the heart of South Beach, across from the beach. Around you there are some classic party places such as The Clevelander and Mango's. I went twice because sometimes (summer) they have some discounts and for a night in South Beach it's a good option. Parking is crazy, even with the valet (apparently the valet is common to a few hotels here, so expect to wait), but again, it's South Beach, parking is supposed to be crazy. Service was always good, they give you beach towels, you crossed the street and there you are, by the Ocean. The only thing that was a pain last time, was the humidity and the heat. Yes, inside. I waited for my wife at the small bar for about 10 minutes and I was sweating. The room are small, but all with some theme decor, nice idea. Don't expect luxury but if you are up for a night in SoBe, Pelican Hotel is a good option. read more

Located right smack in the middle of the Art Deco area of South Beach. Just steps away from the beach. Great great location. However the front desk was not very helpful regarding local attractions and events for NYE. We checked into the Vegas room which was so freaking gaudy. I felt like I stepped into the bedroom of a Charlie's Angel. I did like the big stand in shower with the humungous showerhead. Not worth the price. read more

I just returned from a fabulous vacation in South Beach and I know that this hotel added to the wonderful experience. This place is located right in the heart of South Beach on Ocean Drive. This is a lively spot but I suspect that most people are prepared for this if staying on Ocean Drive in South Beach. The cafe/restaurant in the front plays music day and night and when you arrive you will be bobbing and weaving through the waitstaff. But don't worry, everyone I encountered on staff is so friendly and accommodating. This is truly a boutique hotel, the decor is very retro, art deco, colorful and trendy. Each room is decorated around a central theme including names that reflect that theme. The room is stayed in was called "A Fortune in Aluminum (http://www.pelicanhotel.com/room-a_fortune_in_aluminum-48) ". I really liked the silver theme. The best part about the rooms is the shower. The rain shower head is absolutely amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed taking showers. You are also provided with C.O Bigelow bath samples. What I hated most about the rooms was that the beds were HARD. If you like a hard bed, you will like these beds, but they were the only thing that I didn't like about the room. Another great thing about our room was that housekeeping kept my room clean! They came twice a day. We also got chocolates and the next days weather every evening. Another great thing about this hotel is that the elevator works! So many South Beach boutique hotels seem to have elevators but they never seem to be working. This hotel's elevator worked during my whole stay and could fit a couple people comfortably. Our stay was not perfect, but the hotel made up for it. The shower broke the first night, which was quite surprising (it would not turn off) and we were unable to change rooms. But they did fix the shower the next day and BECAUSE WE ASKED, they gave us complimentary breakfast. I was quite happy with the breakfast as well. Also the free wifi connection is weak. This hotel is a glorified hostel. it is NOT a 4 star hotel. PROS: Staff is super sweet. Location cannot be beat. Free decent breakfast. Rooms are individually decorated. Quaint, artsy, vintage... very south beach like. Cons: My shower didn't work. I waited 20 mins for coffee. Room are not just small, tiny. Walls are Paper Thin. You cannot sleep at night,. My gf and I stayed in the Me Tarzan, You Vain room and it was really nice and creative. We were there for the month of April, it was hot but our room was cool, thanks to the air conditioner. The bed is also really comfy. The hotel is directly across the street from South Beach, which is really convenient. Hotel valet parking was worth what we paid, all you have to do is pull up in front of the hotel and hand your keys to the valet guy and on your way to your room. Beach towels are provided by the hotel, and beach chairs as well. All you have to do is tell them your room number when you head to South Beach and they will set up the beach chairs for you. No additional charge. Your room will always be clean on a daily. They also give you free chocolates and water bottles in the room. If I ever go back to Miami I would definitely stay at the Pelican Hotel. read more
