More people is better. Poor bar server was getting scolded by the woman (door greeter). Saw her open 2 small bottles of champagne and brought the glasses back because the people did not like it. Told her to open in front of them next time...if they did not like it ...would not have mattered. Then ( thh owner my guess) demeaned her again in front of the rest. patrons. My boyfriend and I came here last weekend for dinner and we both felt unwell afterward. He ordered steak tips and I got the veal and chicken Parmesan. We shared a side of mixed veggies. His steak tips were undercooked and he got really bad heartburn. My main course was tasty, but the side of veggies (squash and carrots) were drenched in oil and were soggy and gross. Even our waitress said they used too much oil! I felt sick the following morning. I guess it took longer for the food to go through me. Were it not for our waitress who was friendly and attentive, I would give this place 1 star. The service was good, atmosphere was decent (casual, family friendly vibe), but the food was terrible. I just want to preface by saying I love Tony's and their pizza. I think their pizza is fabulous. So, I wanted to try more things on the menu...let's just say I should've stuck with the pizza. First, they messed up my pasta order. I wanted a certain type of pasta with my Alfredo sauce. They gave me the incorrect pasta. I got over it, and I enjoyed the pasta...until...I found a metal staple in the pasta. Outrageous. I chewed it, thinking it was just a crunchy part of the pasta. Sadly, it was not. Thank goodness I did not swallow the food because I pull out a staple from my mouth. I could not believe it. I almost swallowed that. This has never happened to me in my entire life. A bit of a mixed bag here. On the good size, there are plenty of toppings on the pizza, and they're solid quality- for example, you get plenty of real pieces of chicken instead of weird pre-grilled Cisco squares. I like that their ham topping is in thin slices crisp up on the edges, that there are herbs throughout the pizza, and that the crust isn't bland and is on the thin side with some nice pizza oven char. However, the crust can be soggy in the center- more so in the large size, less so in the small size. Also, their margarita pizza has no sauce, just sad pink tomato slices- and their fries are battered (hard pass). read more

This place has been around forever and I have eaten here several times in the past 12 years. They do offer a local delivery, but today I had delivered from a service not local to them. I ordered the chicken cutlet with tomato sauce side item it was huge three pieces. My only complaint is the sauce was too tomatoey or two acid maybe too much tomato paste. I could taste sugar to counteract the acid flavor so I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it needs something. It came with bread which is nice most places pre-/post Covid cut back and not include bread but this place does and it's homemade too full to tell you what else I ate but still impressed. I did order Marcella but you'll have to wait and see looks good. I do know from past experiences that they're Fish and clams are really good and fresh. read more

I was in boston today and i saw a review yesterday about this place made by Portnoy and decided to give it a try. The pizza was very delicious, a bit grease but nothing to be concern about. It had a distinctive smell to it wasn't appetizing or appealing but not gross. The pizza dough according to the review is made in the restaurant it was crunchy but not cracker type it was really good and plenty around the edge of the pie. The flavor was delicious and the cheese was melting but not falling from the slice. I will give it 4 starts because of the funky smell the pizza had i want to say from the sauce. I came in with my family today. Cousins that hadn't seen each other in 16 years. We chose Tony's place for our gathering. The service was horrible. The waitress/bartender was so rude. She was in such a rush and the restaurant was dead besides an elderly couple and 3 men at the bar. She rushed our order so quickly she got two orders wrong. I asked her nicely if she could please take a family picture for us and she basically said no, that she has to take an order. She never came back to do so. The food has gone down dramatically. Nothing like your authentic Italian food in the North End. I don't know the waitress name but she had short blonde hair that was in a ponytail and older looking. I cannot believe how she treats her customers. Tonys Place has been a place my family and I would visit for the last 30 years. Honestly I don't think we'll ever go again. read more

Customer service and quality of food have gone down while prices keep rising. My family has gotten food here for decades and it's not even close to what it use to be. The serving sizes have also gotten smaller, a large pizza is comparable to a medium at most other places. read more

We were in Boston for an extended stay and tried Tony's Place on two occasions. The first time the pizza was excellent but very small for a large in the United States. The second time the sauce was not tasty and the pizza was not only small, but not even really edible. We had two pieces and threw it out. On the other hand, the veal and eggplant parmigiana was out of this world, thus the 4 stars. We did not eat in so I can't comment on the ambiance. The service has been excellent though. read more

After going by this place for YEARS I FINALLY decided to give this place a shot ..and let me tell you it's an EMBARRASSMENT!!! First, my wife and I have been eating at Tony's for well over 30 years. It's always been one of "our restaurants" for Italian. We ate there the other night and the food is still good. There are other changes that really offend me. The big thing that's different is how they've started to nickel and dime the customers. For example, ask for a second bread basket, you'll get charged for it. Salads no longer come with the meals. Order a salad and you'll be charged for it. I ordered a Coke, and got two refills. My bill reflected two glasses of Coke. I inquired what that was about and the waitress explained that now you get one free refill, then after that you pay for every glass. She suggested going back to water after the second glass. By the way, this especially galls me. Everyone knows that to sell a glass of Coke literally costs pennies. I don't mind paying $2.79 a glass but for soft drinks it's always been unlimited refills. After all, it's not like beer, soda refills cost almost nothing. Oh, and all the menus have a note on them saying that all prices have gone up $2.00. After all this time, I'm not sure how I feel about going back. read more

Very unassuming building and dull interior but the pizza is great and we received excellent service while dining in. We ordered a Buffalo chicken pizza, which arguably was one of the best Buffalo pizzas our party had ever had. We also had a Margherita pizza, which was delicious but the middle of the crust was a bit soggy. The rest of the crust was thin and crisp though! One person in our party is a veal Parmesan connoisseur who said this was one of the better veal Parms he has had. He gave a rating of 8.5/10. read more

LONG POST: If I could rate zero stars I absolutely would. I ordered through Uber eats app and the app said an Uber driver wouldn't be delivering since I was close to the restaurant, the restaurant would deliver directly to me. I placed my order around 8pm, it said arrival would be between 8:45-9:05. It asked me to use the "leave at door" option for safety reasons being COVID. I said ok, they asked me to leave instructions. Okay I write ring doorbell or call my phone number. Which I left in the note/instructions. Also can be found through the app. As it's getting late I'm requesting SEVERAL updates. No word on tracking or anything. I tried to call, no answer. So I go outside around 9:50 to check for cars coming, as I've checked through my window multiple times. You know just getting impatient. To find the food outside, freezing cold in 30 degree weather. No one called me. No one rang my doorbell. Well there goes $93 and my family's dinner. Open up the bag, sauce all over the inside of the bag and food containers... tried out the food anyway because we are super hungry. We ordered 2 chicken and eggplant parmigiana. Absolutely NO flavor. Both weren't happy. There's wasn't enough salt and pepper I could put on it to make it right. The noodles at the bottom were sitting in tomato water, not even sauce. Just no good. Okay so on to the next. I ordered soups because I hadn't eaten from this place before and wanted to try a few things to see what I liked for future orders. I got a French onion and a chicken soup. I didn't even bother to eat the chicken soup because the disappointment with the French onion. I ORDERED SOUP. Ofcourse the soup has the bread on top with cheese. I ate through that first to get to the soup. Only to find out that under the bread, was MORE BREAD. Just soaking up literally all of the broth. At this point I'm like really pissed off. Both things I ate were left in the cold AND taste like crap. I ordered some things for the kids to pick at. The fries were gross possibly because at this point they were left out too long and had to be reheated. I ordered side "vegetables" literally just broccoli, don't know why they're called vegetables on the menu when they could be clear that it's just broccoli. The one vegetable my kids hate. And I ordered fried mushrooms which I was pleasantly surprised with. I'd say the only thing we liked out of all the money that was spent tonight. I tried to call and no answer. Left messages, and hopefully they get back to me. I'm expecting some kind of refund. I have screen shots of the whole order. The fact that it STILL reads out for delivery at 10:40 pm. Nothing great about this place. The pasta sauce tasted as if they just opened a can of Campbell's Tomato juice and poured it on the pasta. The sauce had no seasoning. Were it not for copious amounts of salt and pepper that I put on it, it would have been inedible. The sausage had a texture of having been cooked previously, frozen, and reheated. The order came on time, but the food was horrendous and the side order salads were not in the order! The haddock was soggy and the fish tasted old, the broccoli crowns were yellow! The Boneless Buffalo wings were overcooked and dry. The celery in the Buffalo wing was yellow. The only reason I gave this order three stars was because they went out of their way to deliver the salads. The young man was extremely polite. All items have always been overpriced forever. Manicotti shouldn't be served in a puddle of water. It's obvious that they are not baked but frozen microwaved and probably from Serino's. I'm not a fan of gristle in my chicken meals but rarely make it through a piece without encountering them. Additionally, I don't understand why there are canned peaches in the marsala dishes?
