Chelsea is an amazing hairstylist, and I highly recommend her. Unfortunately, I did not get to see her today. My issue was with the front desk experience. I was trying to confirm pricing because I had been given different amounts, and I also wanted to schedule a separate haircut appointment for another day since there wasn't enough time to add it to my existing appointment. While discussing the pricing and asking why clients had not been notified that everyone was running late, the situation escalated unnecessarily. Misty, the receptionist, approached me in a confrontational manner rather than addressing my questions professionally. The interaction left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. My appointment had been scheduled more than a month in advance, and due to the way the situation was handled, I chose to cancel. Chelsea has been wonderful, but customer service matters. In an area with countless salon options, I prefer to spend my money where clients feel valued, respected, and appreciated. Unfortunately, that was not my experience today. read more

The hairdresser already had a client and they had no record of me in the system, even though I got an email from them confirming my booked appointment today. This review is for Jessica. While she does great work, the one star is for unethical business practice. I've been going to her for a while now and even though I do the same service (root touch up and toner) she changes her prices every time. It's as if she charges whatever she feels like based on the day. I understand there's inflation and a lot of stylists have increased their prices, but she changes her prices every few weeks and I'm pretty sure she charges different clients different amounts. For something as simple as a root touch up, this does not seem fair or ethical. I showed her all of my previous payments to her via Venmo for the same service done just a few weeks prior, and she still had the audacity to say the price is more now. read more

Where to begin, first and foremost, as a male it can be difficult to find a haircut that is above and beyond. You can go to most barbers or random salons and, for the most part, get an "ok" hair cut. BUT you will always leave with more to be desired. You can never truly trust that you will get exactly what you want because you never know what mood, skill level, or tools the dresser or barber will have. Over the years I have run into this problem time and time again, I have had hair dressers tell me "my way or the highway" when I show them how exactly I want my hair, which basically indicates laziness or at least a lack of wanting to grow beyond what they learned in Cosmetology school. Time and time again they act like they don't have the time to listen to me, to custom my haircut to my liking, and I started to believe this was just how it is. That was until I met Luis! I met Luis over 8 years ago, he was working at a different Salon at the time and I will never forget my first experience. He was professional, patient, and most importantly LISTENED to me. I would show him a picture and instead of jumping into a cut we would have a conversation about it. We would talk about the events I would be attending in the near future and ect. making sure that my cut would compliment my lifestyle and exactly how I wanted to look. Then he would cut my hair, and let me tell you, it was perfect, it was so perfect that he cut it in a way that as it grew out it would STILL look good. He would take the extra steps by adding texture, fading, thinning, ect. It was like he was molding my hair cut vs just buzzing around or doing some standard cut. Sounds like a simple request but I haven't found this level of professionalism and skill anywhere else. Luis skillset was so strong that over the years he has moved up to another salon which is Dedication. And I can see why. Dedication is a power house of professionals. I only know so much about the cosmetology world, but let me tell you, every time I go in the place is bustling. Smiling faces, talent everywhere. And its busy! I can see why Luis came here. I am so happy its still in the area, as I wouldn't be surprised if this guy ended up in Hollywood cutting celebrities hair. So to have a place where I walk in, see professionals everywhere and I get to sit down and get a stress free cut that I KNOW will be good is such a special thing. That is why I have been coming to Luis for 8 years. Because the rarity to find a professional who has enough passion and humility to LISTEN to exactly what his clients want and then back it up with a custom cut that is clearly from someone who has passion for his craft that ultimately gets me compliments every time is so worth it. After emerging from the (first) pandemic needing a color and cut boost, I read Yelp reviews and settled on Luis at Dedication with high hopes. His craftsmanship did not disappoint. I had 3 appointments with him that went well, although prior to each one the receptionist called a few days prior to let me know that Luis 'had availability' earlier in the day and invited me to move up my appointment. As a work-from-home person, I am tightly scheduled on calls and late afternoon appointments are the only time I'm available. Both times she mentioned that he had a time 'gap' before my appointment and he wanted to leave early. Both times I had to decline. My last appointment was late afternoon on December 24th, a day prior to a vacation trip. My roots were really in need of some TLC! That morning, like clockwork, I received a phone call from Luis directly telling me that one of his stylist colleagues (and/or boyfriend) had COVID-19, and he wanted to 'be transparent.' Sadly, I cancelled, because, well, it's COVID. When I swung by the salon that afternoon to ask for my color 'formula' so I could get a quick root touch-up on vacation, the owner of Dedication came outside. I told her I wasn't going in to talk inside with anyone due to the COVID situation. She said that nobody (or their boyfriend) had COVID and got pretty snarly. She talked to Luis who came outside and reiterated that he was only being transparent 'for my benefit', and he tried to upsell me on a $35 aerosol root spray. No thanks...I went to CVS and bought one for $5. Also found a wonderful new salon where they are talented, professional and customer-focused. My hair looks great now! They may be 'dedicated,' but in my experience, it's to their interests and convenience, not the client's. read more

Her name is Natalie. I put all of my faith into her hands. I couldn't have found anyone better!! I needed highlights and full gray coverage plus a trim. She far exceeded my expectations. My previous hair stylist would take 4 hours for this. Natalie was so efficient and quick. I would have paid 3 times the amount for how beautiful she made my hair look. Chelsea gave me my first real haircut in 7 years. I had been growing it out for my wedding and wanted a drastic change once it was over. I really had no idea what I wanted other than short and to donate it and Chelsea was a champ! She talked me through my options, put up with my "just do whatever," and gave me a great new hairstyle. I love it so much and they way she shaped it allows me to do next than nothing every day -- something I was so fearful of with my frizzy, thick, coarse hair. This is my second salon with Luis and I can also say that Dedication Salon is also a fantastic experience overall.
