I'm a new customer to deedee's African hair braiding, I have urgent concerns about my scalp and my head, my scalp has been burning/extremely itching since I got it done on Tuesday evening 04/23/2024, the itching is beyond bad, it's so bad that I haven't been able to sleep since Veronica did my locs. Veronica didn't perform the services I requested and paid for. I experienced horrible customer experiences as well, I've tried to explain in details to the provider Veronica, how bad my scalp burn/hurt/itches. I have locs, natural hair, I been loc up for seven years, I can tell that Veronica McCall (Lady V) does not has a professional license to do locs, it's so obvious, if that's the case, she shouldn't be allowed to do locs. I also reported this to the manager (Deedee), she became belligerent, disrespectful, and overly rude. I've reported this matter to multiple resources. The worst experience! read more

My grandma was highly upset with the way this lady did her hair. She was extremely unprofessional and wanted to charge even more to take it down. It was such a mess and took forever to figure out how to cut the crochet hair outside of trying not to cut her real hair! They are overpriced and don't even try to do quality hair. absolutely terrible. when the requested braids were messed up. Dee Dee began CUTTING the excess hair that was not yet braided off. when asked for it to be taken out and a refund (as they were doing it wrong and cutting her hair), she did not refund anything. read more

Complaint Details Happy Tuesday I have never experienced such burning, severe itching, and pain. Veronica didn't perform the services I requested and paid for. I paid for loc retwist maintenance and one loc repair. My hair wasn't washed thoroughly and my hair wasn't dried as required. My hair was wet for three days after I received the bad service. I have experienced the worst customer experiences as well, I've tried to explain in details numerous of times in text to the stylist Veronica, and to the owner Deedee over the phone, how bad my scalp is burning/hurting/itches. Deedee became irate and she cursed at me. Veronica became angry, she began yelling and calling disrespectful names, and attacking my character. I went here to get my hair braided in long box braids several months ago. The ladies (and I was given two for my session) were funny, bright and made the six hours fly by. We watched tv, mostly, and I brought them coffee and tea at the start of my session. The braid cost depends on length and thickness of the braids you want, and cash is all they take. I take off a star because I was due to come back for my touch up and got jerked around with what time (drove there from Plainfield to be on time) and they were closed. Also would recommend to not let them decide on the coloring of your extensions if you opt for theirs as people came up to me a few times and could tell where I had gone for my hair braiding based on the coloring. Bring cash, food and something to keep you entertained for the process. If you don't want them tight, please say so but know that your head may be tight for a few days afterward. I'm giving them three stars because they are very friendly and are very good at braiding, especially with box braids and other braids, that's why their called African Braiding and weaving DUH! Lol but I came in for my very first sew in , and the overall experience of getting it in was nice she didn't braid too tight and the process was pretty much painless. So she finishes putting in the hair (or at least i thought...) and the she started GLUEING in tracks on the side of my head by my leave out.... I was a little disappointed because I didn't want ANY glue on my head, I wanted A SEW IN not a glue in?? But by the time she did this she was basically done so I was like whatever not a big deal, when I wash my hair I'll just re-glue the tiny little strips that she should have just sewn in... So anyway when she said she was finished.... I kid you not it was like she just slab the hair on my head, DON'T GET ME WRONG THE ACTUAL SEW IN ITSELF WAS PRETTY NEAT AND TIGHT.(but not too tight) but the styling.... That's a whole another story! Anyways she didn't cut, layer or style my hair at all and it look so freaking ridiculous. And I asked her to cut it but she said if I did then I couldn't reuse my hair again..... I'm pretty sure I can sense it is Virgin Peruvian hair that I paid $308 for... And that's another reason why I was not found of the glue, I don't think glue should touch virgin hair at all... So I was extremely upset when I left, because yea she sewed it in nice, but it still looked bad without a style, this women put no bangs or NOTHING. I'm like wtf??? So two days later I had to go to an actual salon and get my hair cut and styled and I think I'm going to stick with them their called Serene Hair design and they were friendly, nice and know how to not only sew in hair BUT STYLE IT!!! YAYY!! So I think I'll stick with them for now on!! So in conclusion I would recommend this place if you are getting any type if braids.... But as far as sew ins that you would like styled then I would keep looking. read more

I started going here in June 2017. I first went into get micro braids and had a great experience! I went back to get them taken out and this is where the horrible customer service started! I scheduled an appointment to take them out on Thursday evening and had another appointment to get them re-done Friday morning. Thursday I walked in and they looked at me like they had no clue why I was there! This is after I took off work early to come. She said it would be another couple hours before they could get to my hair and could I come in the morning before I got it redone to get the old ones taken out. I was a tad shitty because I wanted to deep condition my hair that night but whatever! That morning it was the worst process ever getting them taken out. They pulled so hard and were so careless taking them out I felt like all my hair was coming out. Then she washed it and braided my hair again. I really like the micros so I scheduled a few months later to get Senegalese twists. This time I took the braids out myself before going! I requested a certain person to do my hair because I wasn't sure about the work of the other girls. I get to the salon and the person I requested is busy and they put me with someone else! I wanted small twists but this girl didn't care..she just twisted the way she wanted to. After those I went back...called twice to make sure I was getting the girl I wanted. She did a good job on my micros but I went to the carribean and went swimming so I needed them done about a month later. Once again I requested the girl I liked. I get to the salon that morning and she wasn't there. It was just one girl there and she said she could do them. I told her no ma'am..where is the one girl? SHE SAID SHE WAS STILL AT HOME IN BED!!!!!! She called her and she said she was going to get dressed and come. I went to the car to wait...45 mins later she never arrived. I went home! The shop had the nerve to call me an hour and a half later! I didn't answer. I will never return and if you value customer service you would never go here. read more

Had an appt for 3PM. Got there and there were 2 people getting their hair braided. Another lady waiting. Sat there for an hour and another client comes in to get her hair braided. No additional help in sight. No one mentioned how long the wait would be. I walked out and never plan to return to this place! Pretty bad customer service. read more

I don't want give them any stars went in for simple cornrows and they just could not do it right I had hair sticking out in the back and they gave me 3 different prices from start to finish 40 to half wash my hair n 100 to half ass braid my hair no thank you don't go here for cornrows if u have thick long hair they can't handle it you end up spending money for a shirt job then when they where done she put mouse on it n didn't even rub it in just slapped it on. read more

I must say last summer when i got my hair in the sengelese twists i absolutely loved it! I got it done in July and it lasted me a good 3 months which is great because I live in IL and the humidity sucks in the summer. And on top of that im transitioning to natural...So of course with such success i was excited to go back again this summer. However to my surprise the quality of the hair braiding job was nothing like last summer. I honestly believe they used a different quality of hair because my hair only lasted for about 3 weeks before my twists started loosening up. I know a couple other girls who are also having the same issue. Its now been a month and im sooo beyond ready to take these out my head. A lot of my hair has grown out and many of the twists have come undone naturally. I have done the best I can with taking care of them. I apply moouse and braid spray on a daily basis and keep my scalp moisurized but that still doesnt help. I even called and left a message to discuss this matter or even possibly go there to get some of them re-done but no one ever returned my call. Im disappointed that I wont be going back here because I had faith in this business! read more
