The salon itself was beautiful - it is located in the Bolingbrook Promenade, and the decor is beautiful and relaxing. The receptionist was incredibly kind and offered me water, coffee or tea when I arrived which was a nice touch. Katy gave me an incredible head massage as a part of my shampoo. It was so relaxing and a true highlight of my experience. She was also incredibly kind and personable. However, my haircut wasn't as great as the rest of the experience. I asked for it to be just below the shoulders, and instead, my cut was above the shoulders. When Katy dried my hair, she asked if I wanted it styled straight or with my natural wave, and I said let's go with my natural wave. I think that was a mistake, because while it looked a little off when I left, I assumed it was just the wave playing tricks on my brain. After I washed my hair the next day, I realized how uneven the cut was. There was about an inch and a half difference between the left and the right side, and it was unevenly cut throughout. Since I noticed on a Saturday evening how bad it was, I ended up going to a local hair Cuttery to get it fixed and they did a great job but did have to remove a bit more length to make it all one length. I ended up with a long bob instead of just below my shoulders. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at the salon itself, but the cut didn't live up to the experience. I might try a different stylist in the future since I did enjoy the location and general vibes, though appointment availability seems quite limited so that may just not end up being convenient or realistic with my schedule.

Instead of trying to offer a solution or resolve the issue professionally, she immediately became defensive and started talking over me. I've been a customer for years, and the customer service is nowhere near what it used to be 5 years ago when I first started coming here. At some point, it feels like they became too comfortable doing what they want while still charging customers premium prices. I will not be returning because I'm not paying almost $400 for services that don't match the request or the quality expected.

I have had Joyce as a braider for 14 yrs off, and on between hairstyles, I relocated from Bolingbrook and had to find a new braider went through quite a few and came out the other end with hair that was to tight stylist that would talk on the phone overly loud stylist that would leave and go to lunch for an hour who wouldn't be on time for appointments just shoddy customer service. I decided to reach out to Joyce for an appointment, and it was the best decision I have made. Joyce called to confirm my appointment and asked what color I wanted and style she was on time and had everything ready when I arrived, and she started promptly at 7am. Joyce addressed my concerns with my edges and assured me that the hair would not be pulled tight she checked in with me throughout my experience to make sure I was comfortable with the tightness of the hair. I will return in 2 months for redo and keep Joyce on speed dial from here on out!!!! Joyce is phenomenal, and I will never stray again!!!!!.... Joyce is outstanding. Joyce braided my 12 year old daughter's hair for the first time after I found her reviews on Yelp and Google. She was the consummate professional from my first contact with her. She worked with me to make sure that she understood what my daughter wanted in her box braid hairstyle. While braiding her hair, she made sure that she was not braiding it too tight, especially around her hairline. My daughter's hair has grown so much thanks to her attention to detail. She gave suggestions for taking care of her braids to keep them looking great. She was also fast and efficient. She was done in 4 1/2 hours. My daughter has received lots of compliments even after having her style for weeks. I had been looking for somewhere to get my hair done for quite a while before I went on the internet, because I didn't really trust reviews too much. I needed to see for myself what a person can do. I am very picky about my hair, and hardly ever go to a beautician. looked everywhere from Bellwood to Bolingbrook for someone that could do my hair like I wanted it. Finally I went on the internet and found Joyce. I was leaving on Thursday at 12 noon for Las Vegas and needed it done on Wednsday. She was booked on Wednsday, and asked if I could be there at 6 am on Thursday and she will be finished by 9am. I took a chance and was there at 6. I told her how I wanted my braids and she did it better than I imagined. I was at home before 10am. I am so happy with her, she will be my beautician forever. I have no complaints at all. Joyce was a God send! I saw a woman's hair, whom I thought was beautiful and was simply given Joyce's name and info to Google. The woman spoke so highly of Joyce and her services, that it removed my apprehension of going to someone's home. Upon talking to Joyce the first time, I was immediately pleased with her responsiveness and professionalism. Furthermore, upon entering her immaculate in-home salon (which needs to be stated) I was more than comfortable in the atmosphere. My hair is absolutely gorgeous! I love it. I have NO PAIN (basically on a scale of 1-10, I'm a 1 or 2, which is nothing). I thought her price was definitely reasonable. And she didn't take all day. Joyce did a great job on my hair! She braids very neat but not too tight. She was fast and did not waste time. She made sure I felt comfortable and welcomed. She was very nice and I love that she loves Jesus as well. I will definitely be a regular as I like to keep my natural hair braided. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for nice braids and a nice kindhearted stylist. She stays super busy as while I was there about 10 people called to make an appointment. Ms. Joyce is amazing. She's been braiding my hair for about 2 years now and she never ceases to amaze me. She starts the morning with a prayer and braids gently, ensuring that the braids are not so tight that I'm uncomfortable or that I experience traction alopecia. She is fast and efficient, usually finishing in half of the time as other braiders and we have a great time sharing a laugh and watching the best movies, while she braids. First it was so nice to be welcomed right in to the salon. I was nervous having my hair done for the first time. She asked if it was the size I wanted and colour, good quality of hair that was provided for the client. She was efficient, accurate and worked quickly. Hello, if you are thinking about changing your beautician and have no idea where to go, I highly recommend Joyce. Joyce a kind, caring and artistic she also listens to what you want. She did a wonderful job on my full-sew (no-glue). My sew-in was not lumpy, it did not look like a wig (very natural looking) and my sew-in did not pull against the tender edges of my hair line. Joyce is amazing.... Warm spirited and welcoming. I use to drive to the city to get my hair braided and got tired of the commute. I search for a braider in the area and came across her. Joyce is very professional and does amazing work, making sure your comfortable every step of way. One thing to make of is she's pretty busy with requests so you may need to call more than once(she will call back once free) or schedule your appointment ahead of time(but she tries her best to accommodate). I went to Joyce to get box braids done professionally for the first time. I was a little bit late but I called and let her know I'd be running late and she was really kind about it. Also the day before she called to make sure I was still coming and she was really enthusiastic as well lol (keep in mind that we scheduled the appointment like 2-3 weeks in advance). Individual braids - Joyce and her assistant was proficient. They both were very kind and pleasant. Because they worked together my hair was completed quickly. A couple of issues I was concerned with was praying with the client before working on the hair and having the client separate the extensions and hand them to Joyce. Joyce did a wonderful job on my individual braids. I have had the braids in almost 3 weeks and they are beautiful. They weren't too tight and they are gorgeous. The environment is clean, comfortable and Joyce makes you feel very comfortable. She didn't leave for lunch or take a break. It took under 5 hours.
