The goats were larger than a large dog, and we were unable to bury them on our property due to their size. We called our veterinarian, and they recommended Companah. When I called, Sean spoke with me in the gentlest and most compassionate voice. He outlined our options and made an immediate appointment for our goats. We drove down to the location, and we were greeted by the sweetest, most gentle young women. The first thing they said was that they were sorry for my loss. I seem to recall a gentle hug. They brought out carts and carefully loaded the goats. They spoke with me about our options for aftercare for the goats. In a few days, we received a message that our goats were ready to go home. I drove up and picked up the packages. The young woman again was so deeply kind and gentle. I was overwhelmed with the quality and craftsmanship of the memorial pieces I bought to remember my goats. I kept waiting for someone to make fun of me for wanting to preserve the goats in this way, to tell me it was silly or unnecessary. But the entire staff treated me like I had lost a family member, an aunt, a mother, a father. I did lose two family members. The staff at Companah Pet Cremation and Aftercare treated me with dignity and respect. I did not get anyone's names; I was too broken. But thank you to the wonderful staff for taking care of my pets with such care and dignity.

Sean helped me work through my decisions, sending me urn pictures with inscriptions and was very patient while I made the final arrangements. Hal met me to pick up my sweet Dinker for cremation. Hal was kind, sympathetic and held my sweet boy with care as if Dinker was his own pet. Companah's understanding the depth of my loss, professionalism and compassion gave me comfort in knowing I had entrusted my beloved Dinker to good caring people, a quality company.

Since then, it has become apparent what an absolute GIFT Garry provided to me. I got to know Andy through frequent pictures and videos when he was first born. When I got him, Andy was sleeping through the night after 4 days and was about 75% potty trained. On our way home from picking him up, he was whimpering a bit. When I took him out of the car and put him in the grass, he went potty right away! By the time he was 4 months old, he was fully trained. He hasn't had any accidents in the house since-- and maybe only 5-10 accidents TOTAL as a puppy. Andy is a mini poodle. He comes to work with me and brings so much joy to all of the college students I work with. He is the snuggliest little boy you'll ever meet, and has so much love to give. We made the rookie mistake of deciding to add a third dog to our elderly twelve-year-old pack of…read moretwo. We thought it would bring some energy back into our old-timers, bring out the motherly instinct in our older female and when the time comes, ease the inevitable transition of saying goodbye to our beloved existing dogs. Initially everything was unfolding well, aside from the occasional squabble. However, as our new girl reached her teenage months, things became heated and quickly evolved into frequent fighting to the point that we had to keep our youngest separated from the elderlies all of the time. This solved our problem but was far from an ideal long-term solution and did not match our original intent. We attempted to remedy with all manner of interventions including: professional in-home trainers, air horns (against professional advice) and bite-proof doggy attire. Needless to say we failed at each turn and resolved that we needed to seek out a more intense intervention, settle on separate living or find our puppy a new home. After some internet research we came across Valerie/Canine Coaching. After talking with her about her methodology and philosophy we signed up. Our puppy spent just a little over two weeks with Valerie. Valerie worked with her on basic obedience and "doggy manners," of which our puppy had little. We visited at the one-week mark and progress was evident. Our puppy actually looked to people for permission, was safely interacting with other dogs and when told to stop an averse behavior she actually complied. At the conclusion of the program, Valerie delivered our puppy back to us and carefully reintroduced our puppy back to her pack. At the conclusion of the training, our puppy had lost none of her "spunk" and had a new, more polite and compliant demeanor. Valerie also trained us on her methods so we could continue the progress while we had a lot of traction and answered all of our many questions. A month into her return home, our puppy is again a functioning part of her pack. She seems to know her rank and when she tests limits we are able to easily correct the problem and return back to our new normal. Needless to say, the intervention has worked better than we could have expected based on our previous experiences and worth every penny. When researching a practice I selected them for him specifically. He should remove his bio from the website if he is not the vet. The lady that came in to see us didn't introduce herself I had to ask who she was and then the only answer I got was Dr. Megan. My 10 lb dog was hyper and not being agreeable so she just skipped part of the exam... REALLY should that be the protocol for professional to take? Where are their skills, I doubt ALL animals are just happy to be poked and prodded. I would also ADD to be sure and ask for a quote for fees before you proceed... Dental cleaning is $900 to $1500 each and mandatory lab work prior is $500...so you might have a $2000 dental cleaning which by the way, she did not really even examine his teeth, just said she recommended just pulling ALL his remaining teeth. I think I will look elsewhere... you might want to do the same.

Wow this place is amazing. If you live in the area, your dog likes other dogs, and you like…read morechatting with super friendly people, then this is the place for you! Fiancee and I were in town for a wedding and had little Zo with us for the weekend and she desperately needed a place to get some energy out. I searched for a dog park in the area and this was the only fenced one that I could find. We had a bit of trouble finding it, but the directions on Yelp are quite accurate, don't rely on Google's directions. We happened to walk in right as someone else was leaving (hence how we were able to make it in), as this place is a gated community (i.e. you need an access code to get in.) I think this is a great idea. They have a great park that is well kept all because people contribute a small amount a year (I believe the membership fee is $30). They have an application process and require immunizations, basically keeping out dogs that shouldn't be playing with others. We had a great conversation with the people who started the park. They were all quite friendly, even though we were a party-crasher. If I lived in this area, I would 100% be a member of this park!

I used to go to Martin Park off Commerce near Walmart in So Pines, which is pretty and has a nice creek. But, there were some dogs that were aggressive or poorly behaved. Dogs actually jumped on me and other people, and the owners did nothing to stop it! Not cool to leave muddy as a human. Dawned on me there was also nothing to stop people from bringing in dogs with no immunizations or with disease either.. So,, I decided to look Into other options and discovered pooch in the pines. What's nice is since everyone pays to be there, we police ourselves. Poop is picked up promptly and badly behaved dogs are peer pressured into an early departure. Ahh,, nice peaceful dog playground. There's also plenty of fresh water, plumbing, even a little kiddie pool, tennis balls and poo-bag stations. Downsides- not as big a community as Martin Park, so sometimes I get there and there are no other dogs. Some people may like that though,, and my dog gets off leash time, which he loves, so I guess it's not so bad!
