I originally came here to renew my drivers license, but was missing one address verification document so i had to leave. Sometimes they will accept documents on your phone and sometimes they won't. They need better communication skills and Training. Some of the workers communicate effectively, and some of them have attitudes when speaking to customers. If the rules are universal, shouldn't all the workers at every location be telling customers the exact same thing. I will give this location the benefit that someone was just having a bad day, but don't take it out on your customers. They are quick and efficient at this location. read more

I normally wouldn't review a DMV because I think it's a universally awful experience to go to the DMV, but I wanted to give a shoutout to this location. It was super efficient and quick, and the staff were very nice. I signed in using QLess and it worked seamlessly. I was there for a total of 40 minutes for a new Missouri license (and only because California was notoriously a difficult state to transfer from), and in that time I saw maybe 6 people get their new licenses done. It's a bit small inside with the chairs packed tightly. It would be nice if they added some chairs outside or something if they can't expand the waiting area. read more

This review SHOULD have been written a couple months ago. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I wanted this DMV office to be a secret... all mine if you will. Don't get me wrong while I sat there waiting my turn a LOT of people were helped. Some people assume that going to the DMV is going to take all day and the people working there are going to be rude. I used to feel this way so I get it. Some people use the online sign up but since I'm a people watcher I decided to hang out. Like I said earlier I had been prepared to sit there all day and be talked down to a little. (Although I thought I was ready to renew my license.) So sitting there was nothing. However... Tabetha was working that day and that changed EVERYTHING! Tabetha was not only working on two people at the same time but she was friendly. WHAT?!? Not only was she friendly but she was also helpful. One guy didn't have all his paperwork. She asked if he lived close and if so to go get one of the following docs and come back and she'd help him right away. There was even laughter!!! It's true!! When it was my turn I honestly thought that I had all my docs but I didn't. She asked if I had my insurance card in my car (man, I hoped so) and that I should just run out there and bring it back in. No problem I had it. I went right up to the counter, she was helping the other person but they were both laughing, no NOT goofing off just being cordial. Tabetha was funny, kind, knowledgeable, understanding and a joy to work with that day. How much time was spent there? Who cares... it wasn't a big deal. I told her I would review her on Yelp although I'll probably copy this to Google since that's what her comment "card" requested. So why not 5 Stars? Cuz I'm also supposed to be reviewing the location and to be honest one of the other women seemed like she could use a vacation. (Need to be nice since I need to go in to transfer a title and that may not be real pleasant if I'm not fully prepared.) I'd love to give no stars. The highlight of my terrible experience here was when one of the ladies insulted an individual that was hard of hearing. She insulted a handicapped person!! The individual announced he was hard of hearing when he sat down, everyone understood this except the ladies working behind the counter. I had to clearly tell the ladies several times the issue because they wanted to skip the individual because he never approached the counter when his name was called. Possibly one of the rudest things I've witnessed. Oh yeah, the same lady refused to acknowledge that tax records are an official document which can be used in conjunction with other appropriate documents to receive a new REAL ID. Instead, after waiting 2.5 hours she sent me away. I had 17 different forms of mail with me to prove my residence including the tax statements. Worst place ever but unfortunately there's no way to report these issues. These ladies need a lesson on manners and what is required to obtain REAL ID's. This has to be illegal. read more

I sat here for an hour and half and watched the line move smoothly, then suddenly, they stopped servicing our line for over 30 minutes. I ran out of time. I guess they're so incompetent that you need to take an entire day off of work if you expect to get service. I wouldn't of sat here for almost two hours had I known that they were going to stop servicing the line a few people before me. Pathetic. read more

No one enjoys going to the DMV unless you're 16 and getting your license. That being said, this location allows you to get in line virtually through the QLess app which is a game changer. I went to renew my plates and was in and out in 10 minutes! Talk about efficient. If you do have a bit of a wait, there are a lot of stores in walking distance such as Marshall's, Ross for Less, Joanna fabric, GNC, etc, and they text you when your turn is approaching. This was the best experience I have ever had at a license office. First of all, the app checkin is the best thing since sliced bread! I was running late and the app let me know I was at the front of the line. It allowed me to add additional time several times! I walked into the office and didn't need to checkin at the kiosk! I hate giving a DMV five stars but this place just knows how to get it done. I've been here twice to renew plates and it's always SO FAST. They use the QLess app so you don't even have to be there to get in line. Once I arrived, I waited maybe 15 minutes or so and was seen. The woman who helped was extremely friendly (?!) and I was out the door in minutes. They are in a shopping center so the parking is easy as well. This isn't the closest DMV to me but I will go out of my way to take care of what I need here. read more

I know, I know, what am I doing giving the Deer Creek License Bureau four stars. Well, this place deserves it. I needed to renew my driver's license and we actually went down to the office in the Central West End first. It was packed and you had to take a number for whatever you were doing. After looking at Yelp reviews, we decided to leave and go to Deer Creek. When you go in, there is a computer for you to sign in by putting your phone number in. You can see what place you are and how many minutes the wait is. There are separate lines for plates, driver's licenses, etc. It said my wait was 45 minutes, but I was out within 25. You can actually leave and you will get a text telling you when to come back (it gives you a fifteen minute window). Would I come back here? YES, this is the most efficient office I have ever been to. And that's the way it is. read more

I live in Clayton and there is License Office in walking distance to me. I actually went to the Clayton office to get my license renewed on Thursday (11/2/17) afternoon but they had a sign saying their computer systems were down. I walked back there on Friday afternoon and took a number and sat down. The crowd that was there told me the number thing was broken and I was informed which person was in front of me in the line. Not a big deal. I walked to the dmv and people were being helpful to each other. In about 15 minutes one of the employees walks out and tells everyone that they were taking all the systems down for 15 minutes. At this time I decided this super unorganized and crowded place with incompetent employees wasn't for me and I shouldn't have tried to come here in the first place. I picked up some Starbucks and walked back home and drove to the dmv/license office in Maplewood. I've been here before but didn't think a yelp checkin was important for getting my dmv stuff taken care of. But I have to tell you this place is the best dmv I've ever been to. They have online checkin. Or you can checkin on their tablet when you arrive and get in line with your cellphone number. And then you can leave until it's your turn. The system sends you periodic updates about your place in line. My total wait time was 31 minutes but I spent most of it in the adjacent shops walking around. When I got to the counter, it was so easy. The clerk took my documents, did her thing on the computer, told me I can smile if I like on the drivers license picture and it was all done in about 5 minutes. Note to myself : always go to Maplewood license office. They are the best!! read more

I had a nice experience here getting a Missouri driver's license. I arrived at the door, looking for that infamous red plastic container to take a number but was instead greeted by 2 ipads used to check in. I signed in and they sent me a text regarding my wait time. It said 28 minutes but in reality, it was only about 10 or so. The woman helping me was pleasant for a DMV employee. Seriously! I've seen and have had to deal with super grumpy ones and I'm sure you have, too. She asked for documentations and I gave her everything she needed then off she went inputting my information into the computer. She then gave me the vision and road signs test, asked me to confirm all the information, took my payment and photo and I was done. The whole process was less than 20 minutes. The line wasn't very long, there is a large screen in front of the seating area divided into services you need and your name or the last 4 digits of your cell phone under each service category so you can get a better estimate of your wait time. The text was a little off. It told me I had 10 minutes when my name was already being called so don't leave, you could get your service faster than what the text says. Facility was clean, organized and staff were friendly and helpful. read more

Holy Mackerel, Batman getting new license plates at Deer Creek License Bureau has changed. Check in is now totally automated. You check-in at a touch screen, with either your cell phone number or you can choose an old fashioned paper ticket. It then tells you what your wait time will be. If you entered your cell phone #, they'll text you when it is your turn. Which makes it easy for you to wait outside or go browse the racks at a near by store. Just make sure you run back when you get the text. On a large screen behind and above the heads of the staff you can see where you are in line and how much longer your wait will be. When it is time for the next customer, an automated voice pages you by the last four digits of your phone number or the four numbers printed on the paper ticket. It was more fun watching this screen then watching the numbers at the local deli. The staff here provides better customer service then most license bureaus. I'm getting license plates for my car, so I don't need perky, but I don't want surly either. They now accept debit and credit cards, which is a plus for me. I was charged an extra $1 for the convenience. I hate to share the secret, but this place is much faster then other locations I have visited. read more

I arrived at 6:50, expecting to be turned away since it was close to closing.... instead I was greeted by a computer check in process that took my name and cell phone. I had a wait time estimate (1 min, since it was so late) and was quickly seen. I was out the door with new plates by 6:58. Friendly service, easy process, really fast, loved that I could check in by phone and receive a text when it's my turn. I went in to have my license renewed and was received on a rainy day with coldness and rudeness because I couldn't gather my bag and umbrella quickly enough to get to the counter! Every other experience I've had at this location (and I ALWAYS renew at this location bc of service) has been impeccable and timely. I would generally give this place an enthusiastic thumbs up based off the past, yet today it was different. I was told by the male service agent that "please sit down" since he had rudely waved the person in front of me...I started to wonder if it was because I was a white girl as to why the immediate tone and rudeness of this clerk... Then, when I got to the counter, he said "Don't TELL ME what you came for, I ALREADY KNOW from your paperwork". RUDE!!!! So, I kept shut but I wanted to slap him across the face. I told myself to calm down, and so I kept looking out the window so I would calm down. Then he said rudely that my social security card was old and flimsy and handed it back to me in disgust... THEN, he opened my passport and saw that is WAS MY BIRTHDAY! LOL He then tried to be "nicer" in handing back things and I thanked him kindly when he was done. LOOK, it was a few minutes of my day, and his job may be sucky but not everyone you encounter is going to demand of you...We aren't all the same as customers and YOUR JOB is just to do YOUR JOB.
