The food was delicious, however while we were eating a cat walked into the restaurant which was unsanitary. I ordered the vegetable fettuccine which was very good. The pianist was a nice touch to the atmosphere.

I only ate here once, and even though I was not blown away by the food, the rest of the experience was terrific--so saying I'm a fan is legit. First, it was a beautiful day; sunny but crisp. Days that you wish you could sit outside and enjoy water/greenery views on a restaurant deck but would need a blanket. Days that...oh? You have blankets for your patrons to sit outside on the deck to enjoy the views? Well, okay! And even though they could have dropped off on the service a little bit (after all, I'm as snug as a bug in a rug dining al fresca) but the service was attentive without drowning us. Really great. And if that wasn't enough, they had a couple of violinists playing outside too. They even played Bittersweet Symphony haha! Deer Harbor Inn Restaurant grows some of their own ingredients on-site and have chickens happily walking around the grounds. Neat experience. I would try something else next time besides the seafood bouillabaisse...it was a little bland but boy, it was HUGE. The soup starter and the dinner salad were nice though. So besides ordering something different, I would totally do a redux on this place.

We have a weekend home on Orcas and are embarrassed to admit that it took us fifteen years to try this place. While it looks a bit foreboding from the road once we drove in the eclectic Orcas vibe was readily apparent and very pleasant. We ate in the main dining room which feels a bit dated; there is a large patio with a terrific view of Deer Harbor for when the weather is more cooperative. Having had a big lunch earlier in the day, neither of us was up for a formal dinner. We both opted for entree salads; the steak and blue cheese as well as the seafood Louie. Both were well made and, with soup, bread and a shared berry cobbler ala mode, more than enough food. We will be back.

Lovely patio seating when it's nice out!

My wife and I had the lovely opportunity to start our anniversary weekend at this great restaurant! We came for the food and were blessed by the hospitality. It seems to be a very common theme with these reviews. My wife and I shared the shrimp cocktail as well as the salmon special. The salmon was cooked to perfection as were the mashed potatoes and the broccolini. We finished off the meal with the blackberry cobbler which came with vanilla ice cream. It's exactly what you want to finish the meal in the summer time. All of this cake with a soup starter that was really good as well as bread, which was also really good and then a salad!! Excellent. Apparently it's the owner's father's recipe. It's excellent! So, enjoy yourself. We did! In fact we enjoyed alongside the deer the the harbor is named after. They enjoyed chewing on the grass and playing together in the field on the other side of the deck! You'll love this place!

We stayed at the marina in Deer harbor and were told about this restaurant. Just a short walk up the hill (one of the prettier walks i have ever been on) we found this quaint restaurant - perfect island dining spot. Everything about this place was just adorable - seated near us were an older gentleman and his son that made us want to know their story, through the windows, we could watch people playing table tennis on the lawn, the food was great. Happy to have made the unexpected stop in this quaint little harbor.

    Seafood penne pasta. Lotsa seafood.

We didn't have reservations and were extremely lucky to be seated at a high-top table. If you want a tide table, be sure to make a reservation. The high-top tables are more like bar style seating while the tide tables are more family style seating. The tide tables are equipped with sun umbrellas and closer to the water. The high-top tables are also covered and equipped with blankets to help ward off the chill. The Farm Store is also an option if unable to get seating near the water. A casual self-serve dining style, similar to going on a picnic. The Farm Store also has a little gift shop. Westcott Bay Shellfish only offers beer and wine. I sipped on a glass of Revelation Rose for $14. My wife had a SJI Lager for $9. While deciding what we wanted to eat, we shared the Bakery San Juan Bread for $7 with Olive Oil for $2. We each sampled a single High Beach Sweets Oyster for $3.75 each; served with mignonette and a lemon. We each ordered a Stop Light Oyster Sampler (qty 3) for $13.50: Herb Lemon Garlic, Lime Cilantro Sriracha and Chipotle Bourbon. My favorite flavor was the Lime Cilantro Sriracha while my wife's favorite was the Herb Lemon Garlic. Service was impeccable. The environment friendly. The food fresh, flavorful and fun. Overall, I am so happy that our lodging steered us to Westcott Bay Shellfish.

Very impressive little store full of tons of stuff! Groceries, pantry staples, a small produce section, some premade deli food and cookies. I was looking for the bakery items. A previous review mentioned delicious homemade pastries. Finally as I choose a cookie and a salad for later I see them. A small pedestal plate with pastries. And on the countertop behind the register tons of croissants! I said, there they are! The two ladies working were not impressed. I asked for the flavors and the lady said, there is a menu right there. Ugh, not fully awake I realized a line had formed behind me. This is the spot to go before getting in a ferry. The sign was not clearly visible and I felt overwhelmed with the decision so I quickly decided on a raspberry almond. This is clearly a place for locals. Everyone knows what they want and where it is. Not super friendly vibes, but oh well. Took photos of my purchases back in my gorgeous villa LOL, watch for my next review. Super happy to discover this market! And I love a good market! Happy travels. SYOY!

Once seated, we had to ask the hostess for silverware. Started w the grilled asparagus ($25) - tasty sauce of garlic scapes, topped with pretty purple flowers that added no flavor. Good flavor, but for 6 stalks this was kinda insane. Scallop crudo ($30) was disappointing - scallop was minimal, very overwhelmed by the rhubarb. Would have expected the ratio to be balanced. Beautiful dish, no less, but this should have been called a rhubarb crudo to accurately reflect the dish. Again, insanely low volume of food. For pizzas, we got the poh-tay-toh ($28) and Gus Gus ($27 - asparagus, green garlic, tarragon, mozzarella, parm). These were more redeeming than the apps, tasty, but not ground shattering. Understandably the "ambiance" was expected since did not have reservations, but even then, the exterior was dusty and we did not feel the staff was present. Outdoor restroom was a step up from a hiking trailhead bathroom. The establishment inside is very nice so YMMV, but our experience was less than stellar. Overall, disappointed by the experience. Pizza was good, but extremely meager portions for the appetizers. It seems the focus of each dish was appearance rather flavor.
