What a great spot! We came just after opening and were blown away by the high quality selection. We got the chicken with two sides, and everything was delicious and so fresh. We stopped by here for a late lunch on our first day in Orcas. While disappointed that most of the menu was sold out, we were still happy with the remaining items on the menu, i.e., smoked chicken, beet salad, farro salad, charro beans. The food is REAL and made/served the way it should be. They make dishes to order the day of and when they run out that's it. I had the bbq chicken, potatoes, and salad. It was so fresh and authentic with just enough seasoning, I suspect nutmeg, to make the food sing without taking away anything from the original flavor. They have food on display, but to see the food, and menu you are actually in front of the cashier, and also ordering desk. Cute little place, if you want the chance to see or try all the sides I recommend going a little early for lunch as by the time I went one of the sides was out. They don't have much in terms of sides or main dishes. Did have to wait a little bit for a panini but that was to be expected. They do have a giant outside area that you can sit in, either on the grass on panic tables a countertop with stools or a few tables scattered area with some chairs. If they do brine, they need to change how they brine. Please stop sucking all the moisture out of the birds. Also, the basque cheesecake was chalky. Believe it's supposed to be smooth and creamy. What a great option with excellent variety of food for takeaway. Vegetarian friendly and the chicken congee was just like how I used to have it in southeast Asia. My third visit, and I have yet to have anything that wasn't awesome. The owner managing the front of the house is absolutely lovely and welcoming, and unlike most of my other Eastsound favorites, a big lunch at Lone Pine leaves my stomach settled and happy, my arteries healthy. Loading up as I've done twice now with their freezer items and premium food items can be a walletectomy but it's not overpriced (ahem Doe Bay) for the quality and flavor of those soups and products. Plenty of seating, plenty of easy parking. I recommend the potato cake, the beautiful dark brown roasted chicken on a cold day, and a frozen soup to pull out on a weeknight. Top quality place, great products and service every time, my new favorite lunch spot. read more

I went to Lone pine Larder with friends during a lunch break in HOA meeting. I didn't know what to expect as the restaurant is new in a save previously occupied by a variety of closed restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised. Lone Pine was a good choice and food was excellent. The Larder offers a variety of different items for choice including soup, tortilla casserole with eggs and vegetables, roasted chicken, sautéed vegetables with eggplant and zucchini baked. I chose this and it was very good. We also had excellent cheese cake for dessert. They have a nice choice of beverages and reasonable prices about $10-15. You bring your choices to a table and staff will help carry and clean up. There are also tables outside in nice weather. The restaurant is very clean and well lighted. A good addition to a limited choice of places in Eastsound. I wish them success and plan to return. They offer sandwiches but the deli selection is an interesting alternative. Parking is easy and they are close for walking in Eastsound. read more

This is one of the best restaurants on Orcas. Everything we had was so delicious. The space was so welcoming and we loved the picnic tables out on the lawn. New to Orcas Island, just up the hill on Main Street in Eastsound, is Lone Pine Larder! Recently opened and already at the top of our list for Orcas eats. Part casual, deli-style take out, part small-town lovely general store vibe. The best outdoor seating, bring the kids, bring the dogs. Beautifully prepared, exceedingly well resourced ( lots of local farms and providers) and just phenom good food. We've got a vegetarian and there is always an excellent vegan option, plus loads of great veg dishes. My 12 year old gives high marks for their vegan Sorbabe popsicles. My go-to is herby roasted chicken with schmaltzy potatoes and a few of their veggie sides which, honestly, are so far above basic deli food that it's hard to call it deli food. Fave's include lightly smoked beets in some kind of delicious dairy-free, spiced-up dressing with greens and hazlenuts and creamy dressed charred Hakurei turnips with greens. Both 10/10. But it'll likely be a great version of whatever the next in season produce is. There's a solid wine selection that makes grabbing a good bottle effortless. I'm into natural and pet-nat's this summer and I will try them all here. Eat here, take home their house-made sauces, def try the pickled eggs cause they are like dill pickles and they're yummy. And also, Basque cheesecake. Just get more than one piece. If you are on Orcas, you like friendly, skilled food people and you are hungry, or you will be hungry, you should go! read more
