Pepperoni pizza, kale pizza, summer things salad

We walked into Houlme at 8:45 on a normal summer day. We had read some reviews about the great food and were expecting a lot out of Houlme. We ordered a pepperoni, and kale pizzas, summer things salad, houlme dog, and butter lettuce salad. Everything we ate was excellent. The houlme dog was very good and the kale and potatoes on it were unexpectedly unbelievable. The pizzas were great and the marinara sauce was unheard of. The crust was perfectly airy and doughy and was delicious. The salads tasted fresh and were perfect compliments to the meal. Overall the experience was astounding and this place is a must try

I was super excited to try Houlme - it's been nominated for a James Beard award multiple times! Here's everything we ordered (June 2025): - Salad of kale, garlic & fried sourdough - Grilled & braised leeks, caramelized hazelnut, rye & roe - Black cod roasted in the wood oven, pea shoots & green garlic - Carrots glazed in hot honey, smoked yogurt - Scallop crudo, plum/chili & strawberry - POH-TAY-TOH pizza - Blutos Bane Pizza Houlme uses local ingredients and everything tastes pretty fresh! The dishes were all pretty interesting - my favorites were the carrots and the poh-tay-toh pizza. Definitely recommend making a reservation if you're on the island!

We came here for a birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! We walked in without a reservation and were seated at a table in the center of the cozy restaurant. The empty table next to us was pretty close but we didn't mind since the next diners who sat there were super friendly and we had a good conversation! We opted for the "KEVIN" pizza and the half fried chicken. Both were delicious. The pizza to me was a New York Style pizza, which is my favorite! The half fried chicken included a fried chicken thigh and a baked chicken breast, which came with a sauce and house made ranch along side pickled vegetables. Everything was cooked perfectly. I would come back when I'm in the area! Happy eating!

Truly one of the best meals I've ever had. It was upscale without being snobby and it was service similar to being at your friend's house who's good at hosting. If you're on orcas it's a must visit. I definitely will be back if I'm ever on the island again but this meal was so good I'm debating making a special trip just to experience houlme again.

Food was very unique, but didn't quite hit the mark for me. Ambience was warm, cozy, and unpretentious. Service was outstanding! But the flavors were a let down, as we expected so much more from this place. We had the toast, chicken liver, and bbq onion dish to start off with. The toast was too hard and the chicken liver was too liquidy. Almost like melted peanut butter on warm, hard toast. The scallop crudo was served with a broth, which was poured table side, so we were expecting it to be spectacular....but it was bland; no flavor at all. We also had the scrappy dish. The celeriac that was served with the scallop took away the butteriness from the scallop, as it was too crunchy and crisp, offering no flavor at all. The black cod was meh, as well. It was such a small portion of cod, even small than the sunchokes. The cod was a tad over, slightly mushy. The sunchokes were bitter because it was burnt. As you can see in the picture, you can't even see the cod as the sunchokes were on top The pizza was the star of the dinner. Odd mix of food.

We didn't expect such high end food in this town. The service and the atmosphere were nice, but the vittles are worth the ferry ride. Our party loved the carrots on smoked yogurt especially. "The Kevin" pizza will be a treat for pizza purists, and the oyster mushroom dish and the kale-radicchio salad were super unique and flavorful. The food is made to order by a small staff, so don't be in a hurry.

Food, service and ambiance are all five stars! Impeccable! (Yelp is making me fill this in. Yelp is stupid. This restaurant is not!)

New Leaf Cafe is the nicest restaurant in town that was open those days. TLDR: Breakfast is better than dinner here. Dinner items: - Beet salad - excellent - Clam Pasta - it was good - Vegan Roaster Cauliflower with hummus and harissa sauce - cauliflower was a bit mushy for my taste. - Cod - it was ok, pricey for what it was - Shishito peppers - good - French onion soup - too salty - side of potatoes - delicious Breakfast: - smoked salmon bagel - so good. loved the house-made bagels and house smoked salmon and heirloom tomatoes. This is an elevated smoked salmon bagel. - Mushroom egg omelette - also incredibly delicious. The potatoes that came with it were also so delicious Highly recommend both breakfast entrees. If you had to choose, I would prioritize breakfast over dinner here. Breakfast is also more lovely to enjoy the view and the stained glass and art inside. Although breakfast at Brown Bear Bakery is also wonderful. Service was good for the most part. During one dinner, there was a very long wait between appetizer and our entrees.

Having made reservations beforehand, we were really excited to try this place out. The servers who greeted us were really nice. The restaurant had a beautiful dark interior that gave off a cozy steakhouse vibe. They even offered to take my coat, how nice of them! Despite the hospitality, the food did not really live up to expectations. I got the birria, and while it was okay, it definitely wasn't worth the price I paid. My girlfriend's scallop crudel was almost as pricey and it did not even fill her up. I believe the bill for our whole meal (including a mocktail) was over $80. This was definitely not worth the price point paid for, considering that we were not fully satisfied with that meal. Regardless, many thanks to the Monti staff for having us.

First visit and I'm smitten. Great decor and service, but the meal really distinguished itself…read more First course was a fennel shaved salad with exceptional flavor - don't be dissuaded by the reference to anchovy dressing - it works magnificently and nothing overpowers. The chicken liver with summer tomatoes was magnificent, even if they needed an extra slice of sourdough to finish the plate. The star was the roasted pork belly. I've had many in my day but this was the crown jewel of belly's - succulent, tender inside and crispy edges, and the flavor was off the chart delicious. Rigatoni with lamb did not disappoint and pasta was cooked to perfection. Saved room for chocolate mousse and it was excellent and not too sweet. Wine pairings supported the wonderful meal. I look forward to returning and trying all the dishes we didn't select. This place has it over Rosario and Madrona. Your wallet will be lighter but not unreasonably so.
