There is street parking or a lot parking available. I do recall one year due to the Marlin tournament. Parking was difficult and we did park a few blocks away. Overall the walk was not bad and it was well worth it. I recommend bringing chairs or a blanket. If you plan to stay a while. On Sundays, they have a live band, ice cream for purchase, a playground, pond, and lots of open grass for family and friends to enjoy. Everyone's favorite part is the Sunday fireworks show. The show is great! We will continue to add this park to our Sunday fun day while in Ocean City.

It's a smaller State park and slightly confusing with the direction's but the staff was helpful just get a map. We camped in a "walk back" section of E. Very spacious sites with the bathroom/shower reasonably close. Parking was "ok"..... but they fill up and then you have to use overflow. The bathrooms/showers were clean BUT I guess I'm used to sites that spray repellent because nature is boss. We drove through the comfort sites of D and they were too tight for my liking. They have yurts and cabins but for me a tad too close. They do have an Island camp site Loved it!!!!! That's a must do. It's 2 sites across a short walking bridge with water view and access. I would definitely go back.

One thing I don't understand is why the Park Maintenance people don't cut the Wisteria growth on the trees? Some trees have vines over two inches in diameter. This stuff will choke a tree to death over time! Great walk ... very pretty sights. Fall colors will make it a much nicer walk!

There had been a spray paint marker but that's been removed. The spot is at the crosswalk immediately next to the pavilion. Vehicle entry is $5 for Delaware residents and $10 for out-of-state to park here for the day. It is a huge parking lot but it's a beautiful area so I imagine it gets packed during the summer! Be especially aware of bicycles as there are hundreds of them and share the road. Joggers, too! Something about the sprocket was bent. Ugh! Instead, I sprayed some sunblock on my arms neck and face, put on a hat, and took a walk. The beach is stunning. Flat, warm, sunny and not overly crowded for a July weekend. While the beach is not step free, they're trying hard to make it as accessible as possible with mats and ramps that can support a wheelchair. That's awesome. I did see a bunch of offroaders. Apparently, you can get a permit to bring your 4WD onto the beach. Pretty darned awesome, that is! What are those huge concrete structures? They're WWII-era bunkers! Yes, these huge installations were built to counter the fear of German U-boats invading Philadelphia via the Delaware River. A series of tunnels connects the bunkers but those aren't open to visitors. I had a great visit and managed to not get any burn! [Review 18196 overall - 113 in Delaware - 1718 of 2022.]

The playground, piccadilly castle, is a large wooden playground that could use some updating. They have a smaller area reserved for only smaller children, which is nice when it's crowded with older kids and they have no regard for your toddler. The swings could use an update and the slides could use a deep clean, but everything was pretty solid. The castle has bricks around it with names of those who contributed toward or helped build it. It's neat to see some familiar names! I recommend this park and playground for those who have kids needing to get rid of energy or those who need to walk and clear their head.

When I saw that Brecknock Park had a wooden playground, I figured I had to check it out. The park is absolutely beautiful. There's lots of open space for throwing around a frisbee, jogging, picnicking, playing soccer - you name it! There's a small garden area to walk through that has the plants and trees labeled (always nice to get in a little outdoor education). The wooden playground was everything I'd hoped for - very well-maintained, lots of different jungle gym options, and I got in my obligatory swing set time on a nice, sturdy swing set. Whether you live in the area or are just passing through, I'd definitely recommend spending some time at this park. Wish I could have enjoyed it longer! I'll absolutely plan on stopping by again next time I'm visiting that area.

I was looking for a fun non-beach outdoor activity and discovered this playground only a few minutes away from our rental. When I got there I was so happy to see that a large portion of the playground was shaded. There is a huge playground area, a big gazebo with a book rental box, baby swings, tunnels to crawl through and a sandbox with a ton of toys. There is also a large clean bathroom with a changing table. Overall, it was the perfect park and my daughter had a really good time. I'm grateful that we found it! If you are in Dewey with kiddos and need a break from the beach this worth hitting up.

We even saw dolphins swimming by. Getting here early during the week is the best time, as it does get crowded quickly. There are plenty of food and shopping options on the boardwalk.

I'm sitting here on the sand having just gotten back from the first aid…read morebuilding and apparently I have sea lice!!!!! the sea lice and jelly fish are out in droves!!!! millions and millions of them and my son, my husband and I are all itchy and red. how is this a popular destination??? and a lady in authority here, I won't reveal WHO it was, but she said the hotel right next to where we are sitting has a sewage pipe draining into the ocean!!! so she assumes this is one of the reasons for the sea lice, and in some cases she has seen people with horrible rashes and flesh eating bacteria !!!! I'm so appalled right now that they are still letting people in this nasty water. this was our first experience at the Delaware beaches and it will be our last. do better Delaware
