We always have an amazing time at Rehoboth Beach. Parking always seems to be available near the boardwalk entrances. The water was freezing today, but still enjoyable. We even saw dolphins swimming by. Getting here early during the week is the best time, as it does get crowded quickly. There are plenty of food and shopping options on the boardwalk. read more

To be fair, our visits to this beach were in the off season, but it just a small strip of beach lined with condos. There are also a lot of rules for this beach. They tell you how big your umbrella can be, and don't allow dogs during the summer time. Having visited now I can see why there might be a need for some rules as there's just not a lot of space on this beach to share. The beach was okay, but nothing special and quite cramped. There is also a lot of wild growth there that can definitely contribute to your hay fever. I urge any of the five-star reviewers head out to California and visit any beach there. Someone pulled out about a block away from the beach and we snagged their spot around 12pm. At the beach...We got a great spot by the jetty sign on the (r) side. Fun spot to look for shells and play in the waves (away from the jetty) There are public bathrooms right at the end of the Main Street when you arrive at the beach. This year there was an attendant in the bathroom - not sure if that's new or just a random person in there trying to make money. read more

It's a beautiful beach with lots to do with shopping, food, drinks, views, carnival that is always there with games and rides for littles. Not so much rides for older kids/ adults. Bathrooms every so often and clean. Cute little shops for knickknacks and souvenirs. And if you forget any beach necessities, they're always available for purchase. City of Rehoboth Beach has been around since its founding in 1873. Its mile long boardwalk is lined with wide dunes, beach and Atlantic Ocean on the seaward, and restaurants, shops, hotels and amusements on the landward. Locals claim it is the "Nation's Summer Capital," but this might be challenged by numerous other vestigial surf and sand spots on the east, west and gulf coasts. Still, it's okay if they want to brag; we all do. As Jersey Shore folk for decades, we were very pleasantly surprised by how nice Rehoboth Beach was. It has a seductive human scale that is very appealing. Boardwalk easily walked end to end, well preserved natural beauty in dunes, wide beach and pounding surf, and better than decent snack options all along the way. Even Kohl's Soft Ice Cream at three locations. Our hotel was 100' from the boards, and our second floor balcony allowed us to see and hear what was going on without being overwhelmed. We spent dusk walking the beach witnessing amazing pastel colors at the wide horizon. Seagulls wheeling overhead and divebombing us looking for handouts. It was all quite wonderful. The businesses we visited were energized, friendly and reasonable priced for a vacation town. Sure, there was some honky tonk, but not too much, and it all mixed in well. Cape Henlopen State Park is just to the north, with even more dunes, beach and remains of a World War II military base. Too, the homes in North Shore Estates are incredible and incredibly expensive. I think we were seduced by Rehoboth Beach. We're not complaining. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. DO NOT GO TO REHOBOTH BEACH. It is a greedy covetous grasping hideous little town only interested in gouging you for parking money. If it's not the $25 a day residential permit you'll need if you happen to rent nearby, in addition you'll have to pay $4 per hour for 8 hours a day at a meter if you decide to actually shop or eat in town. And if you don't park head in, that'll be another $50. Ka-ching. Yeah, that's right. If they can't ruin you with no parking available, then when you do get to park, you will pay through the nose...or else. And they're mean about it too. Their rules are only known to the locals, so if you're a visitor like me, you'll be hammered for upwards of $200 on parking and fines and I was only there 4 days. I'm telling you, stay away from this cash drain. Any good time you have will be ruined by these vultures. I'm surprised there wasn't one of them old-timey sheriffs standing by his late model sedan chewin' on a toothpick and drawlin' on how "Gov'ment do take a bite, don't she?" as he laughs and spits at your shoe. Some towns are speed traps; this one's a parking-fine trap. Oh, and if you appeal like I did, they just up the fine. Yeah that's their idea of justice. LIke I said, they're mean. STAY AWAY FROM THERE. DON'T GO. I WON'T BE GOING BACK AGAIN EVER. AND I'M TELLING EVERYONE I KNOW TO STAY AWAY TOO. My Wife and I had our first visit together here for our honeymoon, and over the last quarter century have returned, and returned and returned! First off, Rehoboth offers a vast flat sandy beach that gives you anything from walking the beach, lounging under umbrellas, swimming, light surfing and boating - maybe some fishing thrown in. It has the best and longest of boardwalks south of Atlantic City presenting everyone with the expected junk and fun eats anywhere. Cotton candy, fish tacos, snow cones, popcorn and amusements. There are Italian restos galore, but you can't go without getting seafood with the myriads of styles of crab, shrimp, fish and you name it. Whether you're into Bob Evans, Friendly's or Cracker Barrel, or more sophisticated and tasty bites at Victoria's or down-to-earth at Rehoboth Diner the options and varieties are huge! This intimate village-like small-town has done an exceptional job of keeping modernity at bay in the sense of its unique style yet with up-to-date conveniences. With a population of barely 1200 residents, it still does not eschew its origins from when the town was founded in 1873 with its nostalgic homes, excellent water quality, village vibe all has contributed to 5-Star ratings. But the beach itself is the main draw for us. The Mid-Atlantic offers very little of homey beaches, old fashioned and traditional conveniences, creature comforts and elegance. Review from 2018. This beach is known for having cleaner sand. The sand was close to white. But in terms of a boardwalk..there isn't much. There are some stands with the usual funnel cake and other fried food. And there is a mini theme park with an arcade, merry-go-round, and haunted house. But the rides are all pretty small scale. No roller-coasters or ferris wheel. The parking situation kinda sucks (at least when I went). You have to buy a parking pass from their visitor center. And for whatever reason at the time they only accepted cash...cash only in 2018?? Luckily there was an ATM without any fees close by. As frequent beachgoers who have visited various types and sizes of beaches, we found this one to be overly crowded due to its proximity to the Rehoboth boardwalk. With such a short boardwalk, everyone is packed in like sardines. There's no room for a wagon or cart to haul your belongings, and the strict no-tent policies are clearly posted throughout. Had a 2-day road trip to visit Rehoboth and Dewey Beach! There is paid parking available around the beach. For the two days I was here, I did not have an issue with parking. Parking costs $12 for 4 hours. I went in June, and it was quite chilly! Part of the day was raining and the water/sand was cold. I recommend bringing a jacket. We were on the beach for about a total of 8 hours, and it was definitely fun to just feel the sand in between my toes (#CaliforniaGirl) and hear the relaxing sound of the waves. The beach was clean, and I did not notice any litter on the actual beach. There is also plenty of entry points into the boardwalk. The boardwalk has food, bars, games, and mini shops. On a prior visit, I ended up buying some pants for $1, so there are definitely steals in the area! Sidenote: If any of the food you bring is uncovered and you step away for a few minutes, seagulls will notoriously flock there! read more

We loved visiting the beach at Rehoboth Beach. The parking situation was pretty good in mid-September -you have to pay a daily fee ($10 for non residents like us) and it was a very manageable walk to the clean, gorgeous sandy beach. We saw lots of families, kids digging for crabs, a guy fishing, and a pair of synchronized swimming dolphins bobbing up and down in the water. There is a very cool boardwalk with food and souvenir vendors, and lots of stores and shopping on the streets perpendicular to the boardwalk. read more

We have been going to Rehoboth Beach for over 20 years. My mother is now a senior citizen in her 90s. We spend plenty of money at restaurants and hotels all these years. The way that the county judge and parking violations bureau treated my disabled mom due to their misleading signage at a handicapped marked spot on the Main Street means we will not be returning to give our business or money or goodwill to the corrupt bordering on discriminatory local government practices of this town anymore. I highly suggest if you're an upstanding senior citizen, have any disability or are handicapped, you do not patronize this arrogant and smug county that borders on not only misleading information but ridiculous parking practices for people who require spots on the street, not just for their local businesses and proprietors convenience. When we went online to fight the parking ticket that we received after parking in a handicap posted sign on the street, that we found out later through fine print at the very bottom of the universal sign for handicapped parking said "for post office use only" on a Saturday afternoon, after stopping to have lunch on our way home, we were told we would have to pay the court fees if we lost our case. What this means is the town can be as misleading and financially unwilling to provide a parking lot for their own post office, but will charge tourists who can't walk and are disabled and who believe that a handicap spot on a public street was for all, not for a single proprietor's customers only. ( I also wonder if there is a kick back they receive from the post office to hold this space exclusively while we saw hundreds of folk circle around unable to find parking in general) When I called the judge to share this was not only highly misleading but horrible customer service practices for handicapped people giving business and funds to their town, who need to park close to their restaurants and cant walk far, and I asked the judge why the online portal says I have to pay to fight this if I lose, ( after not admitting how innapproriate and misleading their signage is to seniors citizen tourists who use wheelchairs and walkers) she said we have to pay her and her staff's salary and basic administrative services to deal with this. The additional audacity of that answer and policy, when they should be covering and providing all their own expenses for their staff, not gouging tourists for more money who believed a handicap universal spot was justifiably for all, is beyond the pale. Of course, her response when I objected to having to take a risk financially to fight what I already thought was their egregious unfair ticket was that many courts charge for fighting a ticket. Well, Rehoboth Beach, if that's the standard you want to follow and represent, please feel free to continue but understand you have lost loyal customers and vulnerable citizens who wish to feel valued and supported visiting your town. I hope this public admission will make anyone who is equally vulnerable think twice before visiting and giving your business and money to this town or until they decide to change their arrogant outlook and policies and learn to respect all kinds of people who want to come visit and who want to feel safe, secure and valued by the local government leaders. read more

I had never been to Rehoboth (I went to college for a few classes in Wilmington) b/f this past weekend. I live in South Jersey and frequent Ocean City, Atlantic City (nighttime is better than the daytime) and some others. The set up here reminds me most of Sea Isle City, especially how the boardwalk is situated. Sand at Rehoboth seems more course, and it's a little bit darker in color. There was a nice crowd, and a good amount of folks were wearing their masks even on the beach. (Most were wearing them on the boards). The boardwalk is pretty small, but the surrounding stores are really neat and unique. I've been to Rehoboth Beach twice before. Once was by car and we were able to find parking without issue mainly because it was an uncrowded, pre-season weekday. But as others have mentioned there is only one long stretch of metered parking that loops around. One way in and one way out. All else around this beach enclave is residential. There is a solution and I highly recommend it because there is a very nice boardwalk here and lots of great food. Delaware's bus service, Dart, has a Beach Bus that runs all summer on the weekend and connects with two Park & Rides where you can board a shuttle for a short ride to the beach. You don't have to pay at the Lewes P&R but it's 10.00 at the Rehoboth one but they give you free bus passes or something like that. Check the website. It may inconvenience you if you're accustomed to bringing all manner of beach supplies but it's pretty easy to score a chair and an umbrella once you're there. read more

I love Rehoboth beach. It's one of the quintessential beach experiences in my mind. It's got an amazing boardwalk, decent waves, great shops, good food, Funland rides, and basically embodies the Coney Island style beach experience that you hear about and see in the movies, but within an easy drive from DC. It's just kind of magic. That said, it can get _busy_, and I mean crazy busy. When we come with our family, we try to take advantage of the fact that our kids don't sleep in to hit the beach _early_, like be on the beach before 8a if you can. That way you can get a few hours on the beach before it's so packed that you can't see anything but people. Then we leave the beach to get lunch and hide from the heat either in our hotel or at Funland for a while. It's also a great place to come during the off season with way fewer crowds, just make sure you check what's open since a lot of the places aren't open year-round. read more

No drunkards stumbling into the street acting like a fool or loud house parties. My friends and I love coming here all time. My pros about this beach: it's more quiet, less traffic, beach isn't crowded, less youngins at night, a nice boardwalk, good eats; (Nicolas, Grottos, Fishers Popcorn, Dolles, Candy Kitchen. Some of these places you can find in OC but I feel this place is better. Parking can be hassle if your a cheapstake. You have to pay for a daily permit if your not staying here long. Just go to City Hall. After Labor Day, you don't have to worry about paying! We stayed at my family's condo so parking wasn't an issue. The beach is more clean here. No signs of jellyfish. Yasss!! There's other Delaware beaches near by to explore: Lewes, Dewey and Bethany. The hotel rates are a lot cheaper here than OC and no sales tax in Delaware!! Yasss!! I have to give an extra star after coming here for a quick weekend getaway as a family. With an 8 month old this is perfect- he can't spend all day at the beach but he enjoys the sand. And he loves the water. It seems like it's a fun trip with slightly older Kiddos but it was also easy with an infant. I love the more family atmosphere at places so we will probably be back. PARKING SCAM ALERT!! Long story short, don't park in backwards. You will receive a $50 fine. The city should be shamed of themselves with their tiny little sign. There were maybe 5-6 cars besides me backed in. Only reason the city does is to to make more money! There was a huge delivery truck in the street and I really had no choice but to back in. I paid the meter and come back to a $50 ticket! I walked around to see if there were any signs and I admit yea there was but really small under the HUGE PAY HERE SIGN! Nobody will see it! Why not while I am feeding the meter it should say "make sure you are not backed in, you will receive a $50 fine". This really is a lovely beach. We trekked here from Ohio in search of a beach we could drive to without the four and six year old kids exploding in the car. The sand is soft, the water warm, the waves not too crazy, and a very pleasant boardwalk. The lifeguards were very attentive. I was pleasantly surprised by the family friendly atmosphere - so different from other beaches were it seems to be party central. My husband now wants to retire here. read more

10/16/20 Rohoboth, Beathony and Ocean City Maryland. Fun places to travel too aside from going I to the ocean. I haven't been to Rohoboth in a long time. There was beach house my stepmother own here at one point in time, but has since sold it. Nevertheless, the boardwalk was enjoyable, but I never bought a souvenir here. The little amusement park is good for little kids with a lot of energy. The only downside is how fast one might use up the tickets for each attraction. The ocean I found to be okay, but nothing special if you want to swim in the water. The lack of waves are pisspoor and if you go in the water, you will be up to your nice right quick. Aside from that, you won't see to many large buildings around the beach because of the ocean codes. There is only one big building for people to stay in and this place was able to get this building up before the codes were put into place. I have forgotten the name of this place, but it is where my stepmom use to live. Wait, it's called the Sea Colony. I have been to two oceans this year. It might be nice to go to a third beach in the same year. I will have to give this some thought. read more

Rehoboth is this dreamy beach in the middle of nowhere. After having recently been across the entire northeast coast, it felt like a different world. Suddenly the sun was warmer, the sand softer, the bikinis smaller, and the water warmer. This is Delaware, right?! What a piece of summer heaven! Dewey and Rehoboth Beaches are back to back with Rehoboth having a mile long boardwalk. It is lined with every kitschy beach store your Florida Nana could ever get her fake, red-fingernailed hands on. You know that seashell beach sign that says, "Life is Better at the Beach?" Yeah, Nana is buying it. And she's putting it above that plastic covered couch she's had for 30 years, despite living inland and nowhere near a beach. While kitschy and ridiculous, you too will find yourself engulfed in the needs of that Puka shell necklace. You then turn to face Nana with your new sign that says, "It's five o'clock somewhere" with painted seagulls drinking cocktails on it and you both giggle. Your Nana's little monster and that's ok, because baby, you're at the beach! You can worry about those terrible souvenirs when you get home. For now, breathe it in. Enjoy it! Get that oversized blowup flamingo, the overpriced sunscreen, and have fun! This is REHOBOTH! It's honestly no wonder people flock to this area for the sunny fix. You lose all inhibitions and let loose. There is plenty of handicapped parking, access, and facilities. The streets are adorable and the boardwalk is fun. Of corse I'm biased because I've grown up here, but I love this place. Yes I have nostalgia for Rehoboth beach, but it's nice to go out on the simple east coast, and have some classic fun. Rehoboth is super family friendly, so the crowd is very diverse. It's nice to have some simple fun, without the overbearing activities and attractions at bigger beaches. Rehoboth is such a relaxing environment to be in. I recommend giving this underrated gem a try. read more

We were staying at a nearby camping resort and came to the beach for the day. It was Father's Day weekend during the pandemic so we were hoping it wouldn't be CRAZY....well we were wrong. If there would have been rafters at the beach, people would have been swinging from them. We went at prime-time but we didn't expect that many people....again, during a pandemic. We had to set up close to the water, which is fine, but man people were on top of each other. I have to ask myself, if it is like this during a pandemic, what is it like during normal times? I'd never been to the north shore. I can me out out here after a work trip to spend a weekend just chilling. The sand was decently fine. The water in the fall was on the cool side, but still nice. In the morning I went for a run down the beach. I brought my camera and stopped periodically to take photos. There was a low fo gin the distance that I ran into and it was peaceful. I highly recommend a morning run on the beach. Defo go before 8 if you can. That way you will have the beach practically to yourself. Later in the afternoon, after beer tasting at Dogfishhead I went back to the beach for some relaxation. I brought a sarong and a book and spent a few hours on the beach. I read, watched kids play in the surf, listened to the seagulls, and feel the soft breeze on my face. read more
