Went in for an inspection and oil change for a F450 motorhome. Charged $90.00 for the inspection and was told I would need front upper and lower ball joints $2437. and an alinement $500 a rear light was out $40 and a brake line $657 in order to pass. I asked for a full inspection of the vehicle that only has 53K miles. They came back with I needed Front brakes and rotors $1655. Rear Brakes and rotors $1684. and a air filter. $66. Total quote was 6 to 7,000. Ok do it I said. I believe this is way over priced, But that's not the worst part. I get a text saying the had a hard time getting the ball joints off and it was going to be 3 hours more in labor. Than I get a call saying I have a weird parking brake that was not quoted and they would get a rebuilt kit to save some money its was and extra $1800. Then was told it would take 2 days to do the alinement and when they did that I suddenly needed ball joints that they had a hard time getting off and was charged an addition $458. So the total cost was $11,123 and the vehicle does not even drive straight. So you know quotes mean NOTHING. read more

Yet see a scathing review just ahead of me, I, wondering how this all could come to be, in such a short time as last years inspectors decree, all is, as all be, regulated by the notorious DMV. I decided for myself to see if it truly be, I rode right down and got inspected, don't you see. Mike was right-nice as nice can be, took us in straight away, glory-be! Now the mechanics in the shop seemed happy and gay (that is not to say in any effeminate way) working along so diligent and happily. Even the owner came by to say "have a nice day." I gave Mike 35 dollars I thought required of me, he slipped a twenty right back; "Motorcycles are only fifteen." Thanks so much for the honesty. I had previously given this business a 5 star review. I feel that their performance is spotty. In dealing with straightening bent wheels, something that they do commonly, I got a fine service. Later, when planning on having them install new, low profile run flat tires that are particularly difficult to mount if you lack the proper equipment, there were delays and a complaints from the owner saying that he disliked going through the effort of mounting this type of tire and was not going to do it again. Went here for a quote on getting my alloy wheels refinished. While waiting for the owner Jim to have the time to speak with me one of his crew spotted my Bernie Sanders stickers. This staff member immediately started harassing me about them, even told me that I had a big mouth for an old man, I'm 68. When Jim finally came around he at first started to defuse the situation so I was going along hoping for the best. Then Jim told me to get out, I can only assume it was after he spotted my stickers. So, I can't say what the quality of Jim's work is, wasn't allowed to find out. But if you want a professionally run shop, I'd keep looking. Be safe! read more

I've been using this garage for over a decade. They have done all of the repairs/inspections on my 2005 Corolla. I always get a straight answer on all my questions even if its an answer I dont want to hear. The repairs have all been done in the time they said they would be. No one is perfect and neither is deer pond but here's the difference.... They want to do a good job and they want you to be happy and will do everything they can within reason to make it work. If you want WIFI and cafateria when you drop your car off go back to the dealership. If you want to go to a shop where you can build a relationship with the mechanic and create a trust environment try this place. 11/22/2016 Update: This is an actual account of what happened: My car literally dies friday night (alternate went). I get it towed to Deer Pond, fill out an over night envelope. I call sat morning, they work 4 hours. Talk to the owner he acknowledges he has it say he will try and look at it sat. He didnt, I called back he apologized said he would do it monday. I talk to the office manager Monday she says its in the garage they are looking at it. I pre authorize work up to 500.00 she says great call you later on with a status. She calls back says it was the alternator $310.00. I pick it up the owner again apologizes, we say happy holidays I am on my way. 1. The owner apologizes twice: He really didnt owe me one but what garage have you been to in Central MA recently where the owner apologized to you? 2. I pre authorized 500.00: They could have charged me 499.99 they didnt. How many garages do you know "find" things to fix? 3. How many garages in Central MA do you know that charge at the lower end of the cost spectrum? Again, this really happened, no B.S. im not making it up. This company prefers to make their money off state contracts versus being a quality, reputable mechanic. Their $108 towing fee basically doubles after they add in all their fees. If they were worth their salt they wouldn't need to screw people who are already in a hardship. I would rather give my money to a shop that dedicates it's time to helping customers with their problems. There's a reason they don't have a fleet of tow trucks, it's because they don't want to help people rather they want to screw people when they can. I personally never trust shops that have state contracts. Once they get the contract they have you by the balls. Why anyone would continue to patronize this establishment is beyond me. I would advise customers to shop around before choosing a mechanic. There are hundreds of shops in the area and my advice would be to choose one that dedicated their time to helping customers fix their car versus screwing people with the help of the state. read more

The entire staff is amazing, EXCEPT the owner Jimmy! Had some recent work done to a couple of our cars and was really quite happy, not too cheap, but not overpriced, they even had pretty good turnaround time. We had even recommended the place to several friends nearby. Then, a switch was flipped in the owner's head, and he lost his crap on my wife over the phone. All she did was ask for an explanation of a diagnostic charge on a vehicle we needed to find out was even worth fixing, because I had failed to tell her about it as all other diagnostics were free since we got the work done previously, but again, she was simply asking for an explanation of the charge, something any consumer has a right to. The owner verbally abused her over the phone and then while throwing insults, mentions me, who also had not spoken to him in person before. The next morning when picking up the car and paying the bill, he ignored us almost the entire time, even when I was asking for an apology to my wife, only for him to pop out as we were leaving to once again call her a horrible person. I'm in customer service, have been for 20+ years and realize that unfortunately, the customer is not always right; however, this is NOT how you conduct business. This man is a bully and has no right running a business in this day and age with how he spoke to her. Customers can get confused all the time, it is with good customer service where you calmly explain a charge or how to resolve an issue. He had mentioned over the phone with me he was old...wouldn't that mean you came from an age where you knew how to treat a woman AND a customer with respect? Will never do business with them again and will be telling everyone in town about this disrespect. If Jimmy were to simply be a man and offer her a sincere apology for his uncalled for attitude, I'd even delete this as I understand everyone can have a bad day, even that bad. read more

I brought my car to Dear Pond Auto in Leicester, MA to get a state inspection sticker. To my surprise they failed the vehicle for bad ball joints and immediately gave me an estimate to fix it. This raised red flags to me because they were just replace 6 months prior. I don't think they knew that I have a strong knowledge of auto mechanics. I then ask to see the car and be shown the faulty ball joints. The inspector raised the front end and I myself proceeded to test the ball joint by moving the tire up and down. There was zero play. The man then moved the tire side to side to show the play that he was talking about. I informed him that he did not lock the steering wheel and that a side movement was only natural. I then held the steering wheel in place and asked to move the tire and it had zero movement. I asked to speak to the owner. The owner then came over and I explained the situation and how I felt that they were scamming me to create more work for themselves. He then proceeded to yell at me and told me to wait in the parking lot in the rain. About ten minutes later my car was backed out of the bay with a rejection sticker on the windshield. After leaving Dear Pond Auto I went straight to another state inspection station. That inspector deemed my vehicle safe in all categories and put a passing sticker on it. He informed me that I was the victim of a scam that Dear Pond has been known for. He informed me that I should call the state inspection hotline to report fraud to hopefully stop Dear Pond from stealing money from other customers. read more
