So annoyed with this office. I've been trying to get an appointment for months. They would always tell me they would call me back but never did. When I finally got an appointment I requested the time off from work only to show up and be told that I could not be seen because the system was down. What that has to do with my cleaning is beyond me but I was not seen. Drove 25 minutes to get there and took time off from work for nothing. I did not reschedule and will find somewhere else to go. Mind you, they said they've been working on the system update since Friday so a courtesy call on Friday would've been good. I might have been more inclined to reschedule then if I knew I wouldn't have wasted time on Monday. read more

So I like the doctor a lot as a human being but unfortunately I feel a responsibility to warn that things have not been the smoothest of sailing in terms of outcomes. We no longer go to this clinic as we have moved. However, when we did go my wife got an abscess shortly after being worked on which I believe the doc here had to then refer her to someone else, which was a little unusual. Then about 6 months after my last cleaning with this dentist, went to a new dentist who found that one of my teeth was extremely bad and she said it was easy to see with the naked eye. The new dentist said a cavity like that had to have been growing for at least a year -- says it may have been salvageable at one point but very likely to need a root canal. So I'm just trying to caution that we had some issues here with things being missed that had some lasting effects ... and again, it's too bad because the doctor's bedside banner is awesome. read more

I traveled offshore for work and I had neglected my teeth in so far as dental visits was concerned. Since retiring, I wanted to catch up, if at all possible. I contacted Deerfield dental and the administrative staff was and continued to be outstanding, not just in scheduling, but answering questions about cost and options available, throughout all my visits. I had never been here before. They were punctual on all my visits, calling me in on time each and every time. I had a crown, three fillings, and two teeth coated. The work done was as good as it gets. The dental hygienists and assistants were incredibly attentive to detail, my questions, and my concerns, and addressed them all. When I noticed anything at all that I thought might use a little tweaking, Dr Reyes was more than glad to either do it immediately, or gave me a fit in appt time within a few days to be able to take her time and be sure she got it right. Best kept secret in San Antonio! I do not like going to the dentist, but Deerfield Dental makes the experience better. My whole family has been seen at the clinic, and they are great with children as well as adults. I believe they even give free paraffin wax treatments and other spa offerings. The best part for me is that the office staff always helps me figure out the best payment options and does a great job of dealing with my insurance companies. They have also been great about scheduling my appointments. I also noticed they had some awards hanging on the wall about being voted best dentist in San Antonio by their peers. I have been going to this office for a year now. I did love going to the office until I met the office manager. The office manager was really unprofessional and had a sarcastic and dismissive demeanor. It is unfortunate that Dr. Retana-Reyes was listening in on the conversation and never interjected to reconcile the events that were taking place. I can understand why she did not because she hired a manager to handle any disgruntled patients. Once, I left the office Manager laughed and mocked the situation. FInding a new medical professional in any field can be really daunting without a recommendation from friends or family so when I found Dr. Reyes-Retana I was really hoping all the great reviews were true and I can't say enough how true they are. I have never found a doctor/optometrist/dentist that I have ever been so crazy about that I refused to go anywhere else until I found Deerfield Dental!!! A few of the reasons I genuinely love Deerfield Dental are: 1. Dr. Reyes-Retana has that trifecta personality that seems to be elusive in medical professionals. She manages to make you comfortable like an old friend while still maintaining the utmost professionalism so you never forget the lady knows her stuff, and she is informative without being condescending when breaking everything down for you. 2. Everyone in Dr. Reyes-Retana's office from Cee at the front desk to every assistant that I've seen so far to Dr. Chu who just removed all 4 wisdom teeth for me (also excellent and MINIMAL pain) has been nothing but friendly, and I don't mean the generic friendly you typically expect and is totally acceptable from people as busy as themselves, but truly and genuinely friendly, caring, and efficient. It's a breath of fresh air!! 3. Her office feels youthful and full of life. That may sound strange, but I'm younger myself (24) and can I tell you one thing that makes me dread dentist offices the most is that I've always found them to be very stern, intimidatingly serious feeling places with older dentists who make you feel like you may have a finger wagged in your face and grounded for a month if you admit you haven't flossed everyday. :/ Dr. Reyes-Retana and all her assitants are so chipper and fun that it puts you at ease and that comfort level creates for a much more relaxing experience that I don't dread. I brought my 2 1/2 year old here recently because I noticed a few stains on his front teeth. Everyone was friendly and good with kids. The dentist was kind and she was gentle with my son.
