While the technician was professional, the estimate they gave was outrageous. The technician said I needed a new evaporator coil. If you look online, you'd be hard-pressed to find one for more than $1,000. He mentioned it would take two technicians and six hours to complete the job. Even if we assume the technicians charge $100 per hour (which is a stretch), that brings the labor cost to $1,200, and the total so far to $2,200. Let's add a 50% markup for the company, which brings the total to $3,300. That's still high, but they quoted me $4,980! Obviously, I shopped around and found a much more reasonable estimate--nearly 50% less from a reputable company. The bad business practice here is charging nearly $100 for the diagnostic, knowing the estimate was outrageous. You could literally build a business around giving inflated estimates with the sole intention of collecting diagnostic fees.

What impressed me most is that they never tried to sell me on things I didn't need. Instead, they took the time to listen to what was actually important to me -- having clean, healthy air in my home and making sure my HVAC system was working properly and safely. I originally hired EZ Comfort to clean my air ducts, but once they evaluated everything, they were able to help me address several issues that had been left behind by the previous furnace installation. They cleaned my condenser, helped bring my furnace up to code, fixed the heater stand, corrected the transition, installed UV lighting, thoroughly cleaned my air ducts, and did an absolutely amazing job from start to finish. Carlos and his crew worked their butts off. They came out to our home in Kingwood and had an incredible sense of urgency to help us. They were fast, efficient, incredibly responsive, and solved all of our problems within a matter of days. I honestly have never experienced that level of urgency and willingness to help from an HVAC company. And the difference in my home is unbelievable. Before calling EZ Comfort, my house was getting up to around 78-82 degrees during the day. Now, when I set my thermostat to 73°, my house actually stays at 73°. My home smells clean, feels clean, and is finally comfortable. That is all thanks to Carlos and his crew. They were also super friendly, honest, and competitively priced. I never felt pressured, and I always felt like they genuinely cared about doing the job right. I am so incredibly happy that I called EZ Comfort. My experiance dealing with Jose and his team during the installation was just as great. My condenser unit was on a small balcony on my 4th floor and the evaporator coil/air blower unit, Furnice were in the attic above the 4th floor. The tech from another company who installed it, should have brazed all 4 refrigerant lines to ensure that there wouldn't be any leaks or suggested I do so. The other company had a one month work warranty which I was informed is a red flag but honestly didn't want to get anymore work done by them after this tedious job and getting U0 error code after exactly 1 month. He showed me which units were leaking, but I decided to get all four units done to avoid issues in the future with the others. The diagnosis fee was waived due to getting the work done by the company. The price was affordable and on point. I can't say how grateful I am to them, because all of my saved up funds going towards the initial install with the other company.
