The property is always clean, quiet, and beautifully maintained, and the apartments are modern, comfortable, and well cared for. The concierge team is exceptional--they are always friendly, professional, and ready to help with a smile. The maintenance staff responds quickly and does an excellent job, and the entire management team truly cares about the residents and works hard to make this a wonderful place to live. I think the Deerwood should enforce a rule about conduct at the pool. I am currently having my relaxing saturday afternoon wrecked by the shrieking, screaming children at the pool. I am inside my unit, so I should not be able to hear anything that goes on outside- but all I hear is screaming. The parents should intervene and tell their kids that, while they are allowed to have fun, they should not be screaming bloody murder. But since the parents won't exercise common courtesy, Deerwood should step in. The pool is a COMMON SPACE. And it is very close to many, many apartments. I would receive a notice about noise levels if I blasted loud, obnoxious music every day that bothered the other residents here. I would receive a notice if I let my dog run loose through the halls. So why do these parents not receive notices for letting their kids SCREECH in a common space-- for hours at a time? I understand the kids are having fun, but the screaming is very obnoxious. The apartment building staff needs to step in and enforce a conduct rule so that the weekend afternoons of other residents are not bothered by the screeching kids. read more

I was in Houston Texas visiting my sister I was helping her to find a new place to live. We decided to visit this place The guy at the front desk was very nice and polite He walked us to the lobby to wait for the leasing person. As soon as the leasing lady came to greet us She had a bad attitude. I could see on her face she didn't want to help us. When she started talking she literally went straight saying that those apartments weren't for everyone. She immediately asked my sister how much was her income That was so rude!!!! I'm a U.S. citizen and I've never had this awful customer service experience It's so clear that she's racist and she didn't want to help us at all. Shame on her! read more

I'm giving 3 stars only because Cindy, the staff admin is a nice women but other than that the application process isn't clear on credit requirements and thus I'm now out of 370$ even though I've never defaulted on a credit card or have any broken leases. Such a shame because I'm a 10 year vet back home and I was really looking forward to this place being called home for a while. Seeing all these positive reviews really make me confused on why it took so long for my application to even go through. I made the application in April & I understood that it could take up to two months for their system to accept or decline my application. I tried to keep communicating with Cindy, which I barley would hear back from, & I felt like she was the only person there to talk to, there was no other leasing agent, I felt like she didn't try to help me or was just over it. It's now August & still haven't heard back, but I did get an email saying they switched their entire system & that basically I had to do everything manually from the start, as I was doing the application, I got into a page that wouldn't let me put my information, Then, once I told Cindy that I wanted to cancel my application, because I was frustrated about the system she was so quick & ready to get it canceled, didn't try to see if she could do anything about it. I was very excited about these apartments, they are BEAUTIFUL! but to me, my experience was ruined by the "Leasing agent of the year" & it's so funny because she told me "let me know if you can't get ahold of anyone" trying to solve the problem of the new application, like I could even get ahold of her lol. read more

I knew when I was in the process of selling my home that The Deerwood would be where I would want to 'nest' ! I love my spacious apartment home (it's over 2 years that I have lived here). I can not say enough good things about the concierge desk associates, the porter who diligently keeps everything tidy, the management is exceptional, the maintenance people do an amazing job of keeping everything working efficiently.......I could go on and on. The landscaping was recently redone and, as a master gardener who was very proud of my former home's garden/landscaping, the company who did the new landscaping did a luscious job of placement and elegant plant selection to enhance the flow of the garden walk. Expensive, noisiest place to live, fire station will keep you awake anytime they receive a dispatch. But that is there job. Many thefts have occurred at this property, brake-ins, garage thefts, front gate never works, but you will pay for a remote. THEY EMBRACE CHILD ABUSERs. We had a wonderful experience with Deerwood for the first two years. A new resident began verbally abusing my autistic daughter when she would take our dog to the pet area. The verbal abuse got so bad my daughter was having nightmares, refused to sleep in her bed and would have a melt down a the thought she was going to be alone. I complained several times to the management and their solution was maybe we should walk our pet in the dog park across the street. The manager was inept at best he was unfazed nor did he care that my daughter was being verbally abused. His only solution "we should get the two of you together for meeting/lunch to work it out." I told him we were very happy here until, but if Deerwood continues to endorse and embrace the child abuser, then it has become unlivable. To remain in good standing I asked if we could transfer to another community in the Greystar inventory and I will pay for the move. His response if you leave then my occupancy number is going to dip and IT would not look good to his management. read more

I've lived here once and then I moved back because this is the apartment that I love! Free coffee in the morning, staff that recognizes me and myapartment packages, staff that recognizes my family, leasing office that is open 24/7, food truck visits every Thursday, yoga one across the street, baby barnabys across the street, dog park available inside and right outside the complex, galleria 5 minutes away. Geez the list goes on. The property is always spotless because I kid you not they are leaf blowing every morning. I absolutely am in love with Deerwood and the staff and the residents. I feel so safe here and would recommend this place to anyone. The price for the space and location cannot he matched. Different living space options that can meet anyone's need. I only lived at the Deerwood for one year. Other than the unit I chose not having much natural lighting, I LOVED living at the Deerwood. The concierge Troy is exceptional. Management was very good at communicating through memos or email anything we needed to know. They also regularly hosted food trucks in the courtyard. It's a beautiful and well kept community. You're really close to a few grocery stores and there is awesome restaurants in the area. There is also a rooftop tennis court on top of the parking garage. I only left due to personal reasons which forced me to but it was a great place to call home. Most importantly, I was there during Hurricane Harvey on the 1st floor and our unit didn't get any water at all in it. The area drained very well. read more

The staff from the manager,Gio, assistant manager, Cindy, concierge Troy, Ernie, and Dorothy, the maintenance crew, Gene, Syd, and Ignacio are like family to me . They take care of all my family needs and are always happy to do so . I have lived here for almost five years and always felt super safe and always enjoy the community . The pool, tennis courts, and grilling areas are so wonderful to have at a moments use . I moved here after losing our home in the bellaire area after harvey , and I have never doubted our decision . Although we lived in the Med center area for 25 years, our new address at the Deerwood has been an easy transition. I can't emphasize how accommodating the entire staff at our apartments is. I needed a place real fast to live and the Deerwood got me in within 8 days. I didn't plan on staying but a year but I have now been here almost 5 years and don't have any plans to leave. Being a single woman, I feel very safe here. Troy, Dorothy and Ernie are very protective of me. The office staff are always happy to help and the maintenance guys are great. I've lived here for nearly two years, and I've lived in other complexes over the years, this is easily the best one I've lived in. The grounds are nice, the staff is great and the concierge folks are wonderful without exception. Troy, Dorothy, Ernie, all of them are terrific! Maintenance is responsive, and they take care of issues quickly and neatly. The apartments are spacious, well maintained, and comfortable. Pets outside the complex are sometimes an issue, as they are in any complex that allows pets, but the grounds are well kept and they do their best to address any issues. I live in the unit right next door to the fire station, and honestly, I never notice it. It's a quiet complex, many of us are a little older, and it's nice to come home to Food Truck Thursday to something I don't have to cook. Events are planned routinely, and have great participation. read more

I have lived here 20 years. It is in an excellent location, with excellent staff. However there is a problem, which is getting worse. It has to do with the dog excrement in the walkways in front of the doors to some apartments. If you are not careful you will step into it, as you enter your apartment. The management says they do their best to handle this problem, but their best has not been good enough. read more

DO NOT VISIT AND PULL INSIDE, where future residents as suppose to park. The gate was open and I pulled in to go to the leasing office. Out of no where the gate slams into my passenger door. I go inside to speak with someone. They tell me they can't do anything so I ask for corporates number. While a lady went to write it on a sticky note, another lady asks me to wait outside!! Really!! Do you ask all Black guests to wait outside?? I always spoke in a low calming voice and was professional. The be asked to wait outside was racist and unacceptable. I did get the number to corporate after being outside for 10 seconds, it was on a post it note so it didn't take long to scribble down. The rudest most disgusting place ever. This has been absolutely the best complex I have lived at in Houston so let's clear up a few things. Yes, it is next to a fire station, however, the firefighters there are VERY aware that they're located in a residential neighborhood. I live on the side of the complex right next to the station and it has never been an issue. They almost never leave the station with sirens on (just lights), they wait until they get down the block a little bit. In over a year I have never been woken up by them and neither has my wife (who is a pretty light sleeper). Secondly, shame on Becca H. for trying to imply this complex is plagued by crime, that could not be further from the truth. We had two incidents of theft early this year where people had their rims stolen. Of course this is a terrible thing to happen but this could happen ANYWHERE you live. The complex is gated, there is a concierge at the gate 24/7, the garage is brightly lit, and there are security cameras in the garage. Clearly this was a situation where some skilled thieves cased the location and were able to come in and very quickly and quietly to take those rims. It sucks, but it could happen anywhere to anyone, so to say that this complex is "unsafe" would be absolutely untrue. The management clearly takes safety and security very seriously and continuously does a lot to improve this community, so it's really upsetting to see their rating tarnished because some jerk doesn't understand that theft happens everywhere. If you have any doubts about the safety of this area just google a crime map for 77057 and look at all that green. Lastly, the staff here are some of the most wonderful, genuine people I have ever met. They are incredibly friendly and knew me by name after just a few weeks. The apartments themselves were remodeled just last year and are very high quality, I would challenge anyone to find nicer apartments in this area for these prices. The grounds and amenities are all kept very clean and maintained. You're also next to some great food locations (Barnaby's, Island Grill, etc.) and an awesome dog park. There is so much to love about this place that I really can't see why anyone would think negatively of it, I cannot recommend Deerwood enough. read more
