It's okay. It's relatively clean apart from the stench in some lockers, which is nice. There are areas set up for turf workouts but you'll never be able to use them because they don't discourage people from using the turf to hangout or stretch. There are dedicated stretching areas that typically are vacant while this happens. [[HIGHLIGHT]]People frequently use multiple machines with no signage or discouragement from staff despite there literally being 6 people working the front desk right now.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Half the lockers in the men's locker room smell so bad that using them will make your clothes stink. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I started my membership they were able to use any barcode you wanted to check in. Then they forced people to use their app which harvests user data (it's in the terms if you read them.)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They make you pay $10 for a new barcode even if you had one, just for the privilege of them not selling my your info. Which they no doubt just turn around and still sell anyway. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Retention is a serious problem. Not one person from the front desk staff when I joined is still here, including the manager.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Two out of five zumba instructors have left, reportedly due to pay that's well below market rate and poor working conditions. Most alarming: I've been told that when an instructor gets injured and needs 6-8 weeks to recover, they're forced to resign rather than being placed on leave -- then told they can reapply later. That's not how you treat people. This place has potential, but until management addresses how it treats its staff and maintains its equipment, I can't recommend it. read more

The capital location has to be the worst defined. Not only do they not have as much equipment as other locations but the manager helped me set up my payment and didn't enter it in correctly and I was charged a $23.50 non-refundable fee when I wasn't at fault. The equipment and facility are good but can be crowded. The personal training program is a bit of a scam. They sell "$99 for three training sessions" but the first session is basically a hard sell (think time-share condos) for more expensive training, the second session is a 'flexibility assessment', and, I suppose, the third is actual training. I didn't get that far and asked for a refund for this bait and switch but they refused. I will be cancelling my membership. read more

I would say that the classes are great. They are great spin class instructors. Their body pump class is good. As for anything outside of your normal membership, I would not pay for anything else The personal training program is terrible They charge way too much. There is an introductory session in which they ask you all the questions and try to hard sell you on $50 per session twice a week, that's $400 a . month. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have had personal training in the past and bought into their intro and the whole time I'm there the Trainer was off in some other world was not paying attention to our session in fact he left for at least a good 10 minutes to go. Talk to somebody and then came back[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. And addition I really think is I was trying to work out, but they didn't have enough free weights. So the trainer bumped me up by 5 pounds. Which doesn't sound like a lot until you're doing three sets of 15, and you tell the Trainer that it's really not feeling comfortable and they tell you to push through it and of course you do. Because that's what you think you should do. And then you have the kind of pain that is not muscle pain. It is strained muscle. read more

Normally I'd give Defined Fitness, Capital Club, a solid 3 or 4 stars, after being a member for 11 months. However, today (Saturday Nov. 30), I had to leave half-way through my workout session because of the crazy-loud music. Saturday's tunes are usually cranked up louder than weekdays, but today's was the worst I've experienced here. In my 10 years in Santa Fe, I've been to 6 different gyms, and none have had music as loud as Defined Fitness, in general -- and I'm partially deaf in 1 ear, ha! -- The Club has other issues as well, but I'll save those for another time -- if I continue my membership into 2025. This gym works for me. I come in work out and I leave. I have never had to wait for cardio equipment and there Is enough variety in strength areas to get a good work out in quickly. I use a personal trainer, Brian, and he has helped me get back in shape without injuring myself. read more

im going to start this by saying I'm in the 1 year contract with define and to break it, it will cost $200 ish and I'm seriously considering it. My first issue with this place is it's way too popular for what you get. It seems like the whole town goes here and it makes it so hard to find any equipment. Granted, I do get here around 4:30-5ish because of work but still, my routine is so inconsistent because I simply can't find any of the things I need to workout. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Don't even try asking the other gym goers to share because they'll just laugh and put their AirPods back in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Secondly, it seems like nothing works for months on end. The diverging shoulder press machine has been out since late October 2024, we've been down a urinal off and on for about 9 months, the men's sauna has been broken since November of 2024 and countless of other problems that I don't want to get into. I don't know what the problem is but it's either management doesn't care or they can't afford it but it's probably both. If I wanted to pay for mediocre equipment, barely function showers, and lack of a sauna, I would've gone under contract with planet fitness. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Thirdly and lastly, there seems to be a weird imbalance of employee engagement. I see maybe a couple of employees busting their ass on the floor and getting things done while the same couple of boys sit on their phones behind the counter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If those hustlers aren't there, nothing is stocked or cleaned. It's horrible. Long story short, if you looking for a positive, uplifting, functioning, and cost effective option for a gym, this place isn't for you. A Covid 19 HOTSPOT in the making! I joined this gym and nearly everytime I went I would get in an arguement with one of the other patrons for not wearing a mask. I know this whole Covid-19 thing sucks (for everyone), but they don't/can't enforce their own rules. I quit about a week ago because I decided my health was more important than dealing with a-holes who won't comply. The worst thing is they wouldn't waive the $100 cancellation fee. I will never return. Also, I noticed that the entire staff suddenly switched. I believe they had an outbreak and didn't tell the public. Defined does not have enough chairs for balance, small balls, or bands. Many clients have insurance plans that include gym memberships - provided via Medicare. The shortage of equipment/chairs is potentially a dangerous environment. Students have to support themselves by touching the mirrors/walls etc. Students have to sit on the stage with the instructor as there are not enough chairs. If you are looking for a night club right atmosphere this is your spot. There are always a bunch of people hanging around machines in very little clothing. Girls have full hair and makeup on like they are going out. It's essentially like a bar without the alcohol. Once my contract is over I am canceling my membership. I really hate this place. The gym was either brand new or kept in perfect condition. The machines were all high quality Hoist or Precor machines. Every dumbbell was in its correct marked place. Although I was traveling and only here for four days, everyone from staff to clients treated me with respect and kindness. Plus, the gym was very affordable for guests. Special kudos to Santana who kindly and efficiently processed my membership. If I lived in Santa Fe, I would unquestionably join this gym. read more

The general manager discriminated against me today. I've bought day passes here for months. No problem. The day passes fit my schedule and I go to different gyms around town. I pay more than a typical membership going here. Today I ran into the general manager who took my id, took my information, kept plugging a membership, kept questioning me about pretty much everything and when I got ready to pay-then he made up some new policy that they only allow day passes once a month for individuals or I could pay 100 for a short term pass. Or get a full on membership. I payed over 100 here a month ago just in day passes. I guess they don't want my money! I'm never going back. Never had this issue at the Santa Fe spa, mandrills, or anywhere else. I actually recommend those gyms over this one for customer service in general. Santa Fe has issues, but if you are a certain complexion take this as a lesson. read more

Tried to cancel husband's membership after he passed away. At first they told me there was a $100 buy out fee to cancel. The contract clearly states there is NO buy out fee if the member dies. Take your hard earned money elsewhere. If you want to cancel make sure you do it before the blackout window! If you dispute the charge on your credit card they cancel your cancellation and keep charging you and then turn it over to collections. They don't care if you are in financial straights, need to leave town, etc. You pay for employees who don't do anything except talk to each other, look put out when you want to check in. The place is filthy. I looked at a spill on a machine for a year and a half thinking they must clean eventually. Didn't bother to mention it because the Manager is rude and condescending and none of them know how to provide customer service. They oversell memberships, parking is often full and have to wait for any equipment you want to use. I saw a post from the business manager about contacting corporate... How exactly? No phone numbers or emails are public. The app doesn't give you any information about the blackout windows. The employees don't even know how the contests work when I told them it's important I am checked in because the rules say they check attendance (check ins) compared to workouts logged. There is zero parking available. My membership cost me over $100 for three workouts I was able to find parking for. Three other times I circled the parking lot for 20-30 minutes looking for parking with numerous other members. Numerous better options available in Santa Fe. read more
