First time to be back at Legacy West in a long time yesterday evening. Found this place had moved to the third floor since I last visited them. Ordered from two disinterested employees that were not friendly at all despite being super slow business wise by the looks of it to get some food to go as we were leaving. Ordered currywurst and gave the standard normal tip. They were cooking/letting one brat sit on the grill when I walked up I noticed. A little expensive. Left to go pick more food up while they were making it. Picked the food up and brought it home when I discovered they gave me a regular brat in a bun with no sauce or anything else in the box. It looked exactly like the one that was on the grill when I opened the box, which isn't a big deal if it was prepared to the order as currywust. I get you prep for orders I guess when it's busy. I don't think that was the case for my visit. I can't say for certain it was the same food since I left, but based on how it was received, I'll lean towards it wasn't prepared to order. Your mileage may vary. This part is reviewing what I received. It was definitely nowhere as good as the last time I had their normal brat and was dry. They cut the brat a lot, which is fine if the brat stays juicy normally but they killed it with this one and cooked it too long I guess, but it was so dry. I don't remember any of the full brats that I've ordered in the past being prepared like this but I'm not the chef. I only ended up eating a couple bites before throwing it away. I should have checked the box, but I assumed with no other orders and lots of time standing around chit chatting that they would get the only order correct. I felt a little awkward walking up, waiting and waiting, and then having to try to get their attention to pick the order up after obviously being there 5 minutes before to place the order without anyone else waiting in line to get the food. I wish I had some of the curry sauce or onions or something to add some moisture. I think they just didn't care or wanted to mess with someone. I was super friendly and thankful for their help at the time. Disappointed to say the least as the currywurst is what I wanted. I definitely think something happened when they moved from the entrance on the first floor. This used to be a delicious, busy, and reliable favorite. Not so much anymore. What a shame. read more

Came here almost to closing and the employees here let me know that at the time, only certain brats were gonna be available. Which was perfectly ok with me since I was going to go pretty simple and get Das Original, which is the traditional mild pork bratwurst. It was ready in 7 minutes down the line and they have some ketchup, mustard, other sauces that you can add to your bratwurst when you get it. Yeah... I kinda added ketchup to it. Whoops. It smelled good and it tasted good as well. The bratwurst was so juicy that I was kinda scared that the sauces were gonna go everywhere. The brat is actually longer/ more than I expected, so I'm kinda happy. One definitely won't make you full however - so prep for that. Food kinda made my coworker a little hungry as well haha. Maybe if I'm in the area next time, I'll try one of their other brats... I see a curry one haha. A good place to pick and try some of their foods as a snack. read more

While traveling through the Legacy Food Hall, I thought my adventure was over when I went up to the second floor and there was no food there, then to my surprise there was a hidden restaurant all the way on the third floor! And boy was it a pleasant surprise. I got the Cowboy Brat and the American. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what I got, I'm terrible with sausage names so I forget easily. But they were both fantastic. You'll notice in the picture that there is a severe lack of "toppings" or "extra" stuff, and that's because I really enjoy the taste of the meat without a lot of toppings or anything else. And both of them rank very highly with me! The only thing I wished was that there were more sausage/hotdog options at the Legacy Hall location to choose from. I would order a ton more! Definitely worth a visit to the third floor just for this. read more

On a scale of das to das, The Original Das is pretty das! I was pumped to find complementary kraut, jalapeños and spicy beer mustard at the pick-up counter, so I added fatty portions of all three. The snausage is a good size, so I was full after finishing it and the fries I got from a different spot in legacy hall. Overall, it's a good option in at this food court. However, I do wish it were like a dollar cheaper. $8.50 for a brat feels wrong. read more

The service here is great. If you have questions about the brats or the kraut, they are not shy about answering them. I ordered the number one. It's the classic brat, that is listed as number one. I purchased the combo with fries and soft drink. I would say pass on the fries they were just normal fries, nothing really stood out there. The brat however, was fantastic! I urge you to have it with the curry sauce they have. At first I was like, "curry, with a bratwurst, that is bizarre." But I was awesomely mistaken as to how great it was! We ordered tonight from UberEats! We are new to TX and my hubby suggested Degenhardt's Brat Haus. I love legit German food and this is a glowing example of how it should be! They make their sausages from scratch with a "pop" in each bite! No nitrates/nitrites, msg or artificial seasonings here because they use REAL fresh food! I'm super sensitive to artificial flavorings and I can tell from first bite whether they are in the food. This is CLEAN German food. Fresh and tasty and comfort food on a cold night. It also arrived hot! I had to let it cool before I could eat it and that's impressive in itself! These are not cheap brats. Other reviewers have commented regarding the cost. If you want cheap, go to the big box gas station and get one from under the lights on metal rollers. These are hand made. They are made from excellent ingredients. I'll gladly pay extra for quality food. Especially these sausages! The pretzels were amazing too! Thank you, Degenhardt's, for a delicious treat tonight! If I was reviewing this place as a stand alone option, my rating would fall between two and three stars. Due to its presence in Legacy Food Hall though, I'll be graceful and bump up. From my experience, I'd say you're better off coming in without an expectation for authentic German food. The menu is interesting though and has a wide selection of sausage styles and toppings. I was really excited for the cowboy brat, since I'm a fan of beef sausages, but it was just okay. Had a funny taste profile that didn't pair with their curry sauce, spicy mustard, or ketchup. The bun was also pretty dry. Maybe it could've been redeemed with some grilled onions, sauerkraut, etc, but it should be able to hold its own. I wouldn't order it again. The fries are good, but very heavily seasoned if you're sensitive to that. A tiny bit of a kick to them, but definitely skirting the line of too salty. Everyone at the table preferred them to the duck fried fries at Roots though. The curry sauce was the most disappointing. My assumption is they're aiming for a German curry ketchup, but it doesn't taste like any traditional curry ketchup I've had throughout Germany. I appreciate that it seems homemade, but the flavour profile is a bit unappealing. All in all the food here isn't great, but it isn't bad either. I was okay nibbling on it while drinking and chatting with friends, I just wouldn't go out of my way to get it. read more

However, Degenhardt's Brat Haus left much to be desired. I ordered the "Spicy Wurst" which is supposed to be a "flavorful and spicy bratwurst" but I was missing the flavor and the spice. The bratwurst wasn't bad...but it wasn't good either. The European bun that it came on was a little cold as well. I didn't want to add ketchup out of respect to the chef but I definitely needed some. At $8.50 for the Spicy Wurst, I didn't want to waste food or money but it just wasn't worth the calories to finish. I really wanted to like this place. I had the spicy wurst with a fountain drink and a kids jr. dog and some fries with kids apple juice and it was delicious, the spicy wurst was seasoned well and my daughter liked her jr. dog. Fries was good too, well seasoned.. customer service was ok and the food size was good. My only negative was tipping was an option but the guy who checked me out kept reminding me like it was mandatory, I love to tip but I don't want to be pressured to do so. Can't wait to go back and try other items. Started with the Original Das with sauerkraut and grilled onions. The brat was meaty and had delicious mild flavor. The bun was sooo soft and perfect. The grilled onions added the right amount of sweetness. I'm a sauerkraut fan and love what can often been a very bold flavor delivered, but if you aren't quite a fan like me, don't worry this one is really tasty and mild. Even for those who don't normally eat kraut, you'll love how it compliments the brat. The owner was really nice and friendly (assuming he was the owner since he had a strong German accent). The brats are bland and flavorless, the chips are a salt lick and the cost of sides like kraut and cheese sauce, which is disgusting by the way, is not worth the price of anything you buy here. You would think that in a mall area such as this with Chanel, Gucci and Louis Vuitton literally hundreds of steps away, that there would be some kind of standard for the food served here. So NOT the case. I would stay clear if this eatery and go somewhere else to dine. Seriously eat anywhere but here, even McDonald's. You'll get a higher quality and better tasting meal and save a fortune. We spent $60 for 3 brats, an order of loaded fries that were horrible and brat nachos which were worse. On my quest to eat at all the Legacy West eateries, I went here for a curry wurst. My co-worker had one the previous day, so I was tempted to get my own for lunch as well. Hers was sliced up with onions, had curry sauce, and had a nice sprinkle of seasoning on top. I asked for the same thing, but it was not executed as nicely as hers. The sausage was served as a whole with grilled onions, and wasn't served with seasoning and the curry sauce. I actually had to walk back and ask for the sauce. I did not ask for the seasoning. Overall, the sausage was okay, but nothing too spectacular. I did bit onto a little piece of bone, which I don't care for but my teeth do. The service wasn't the most welcoming, but not rude either. Really great sausage sandwiches... there are several different varieties from sweet to hot, so pick one that fits your pleasure. The roll is a fresh bakery bun and they have sweet fried onions that really top-off the sandwich. Help yourself to sauerkraut and jalapeños if you'd like, and squirt on some mustard and you're good. There are too few brat places worth the time to get to or money to eat at, and that's why I am so excited to have tried Degenhardt's. We tried an original brat and a side of chili, both of which I loved. The original brat was a mild, buttery flavor and was my perfect comfort food in taste and almost in texture (the outer skin of the brat didn't have that toothy thickness to it as much as I would have liked). I am not a chili fan but got the side out of curiosity and really enjoyed it. This will likely be my first pick for comfort food next time I need it! read more
