Stopped in for lunch. Hubby had a meatlovers omelet, he rated it a 5. Daughter had a corned beef skillet and rated it a 4. Unfortunately I tried the chicken salad croissant. Besides chicken, it was supposed to have apples, cranberries, raisins, and celery. I couldn't find or taste any apples, cranberries, or celery. Worse, the sandwich was dripping mayonnaise, that is all I could taste. The serverer was very upbeat and friendly. The atmosphere was typical cafe. read more

This place is a neighborhood restaurant with delicious food and friendly service. They have good coffee and their soup is the best. I usually go for the French toast and sausage plate, never disappoint! I love the staff here they are wonderful specially Val, she is quick and great with her recommendations. Hi, good people. Happy Saturday... again, as every day is Saturday. Today is Saturday #1. How do I start? A quick jaunt up to Celina. Got the hungries so pop open Yelp to see where you would eat. You lead me to the star of Celina, the Celina Star Cafe. Enter the door, and the spot is hopping. Super small town, but everyone is here. This is the brunch spot. Nice, trendy, warm feel to it. The crowd is a mix of every generation. Fully staffed. Sat quickly, drink order taken almost immediately. So far, running on all cylinders. Meal came out within 10 minutes of oyr ordering. I meant to take pics, but it was so appealing, I ate. I ordered hash browns crispy, with crispy onions. For once in my brunch or breakfast experience, the onions were deep friend brown, caramelized perfection. It was as if they looked into my brain, saw what I meant, duplicated it. Okay so the food was perfect. Service is another story. It wasn't perfect. Go up a level from perfect. It was familial. Like you are a close relative. They almost have everyone on the floor check on every table in the building. They rove and check on you so you don't feel the need to need. 6 star spot. We have been here a number of times over the past 2 years but today's experience left us not planning on returning. Prices have gone way up and quality/taste has gone down. Bill for 2 adults & 2 children $92 before tip! Additionally an automatic "non cash adjustment" was added without making us aware of it! Eggs were over cooked and we never got one of the orders of pancakes. Extremely disappointed as this was a top destination for us in the past. read more

"This is the first Texas pancake I've had that was worthwhile." - The Husband, 5/30/22 This was a delight to find. Tasty. Light. Everything was consistent; nothing was heavy or over-salted. Fair warning that the "thee egg omelette" is more like six! They had Lavazza coffee, which is very pleasant. It's clean (thank you for wiping the seats!), some of the employees were masked and nobody minded that we were, and the staff was really helpful and friendly. Delish brekke spot in Celina! I heard they get super busy on Sundays after church but my first visit was mid week and we had no wait for a table. My brother and his wife dined in twice, I joined them once. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive. I ordered the french toast, which was yummy. I also tried the turkey sausage. My sister in law had the oatmeal the morning we came together and my brother had some sort of savory dish - I'm not sure I even paid attention to what it was but we all enjoyed our meal. Let me start by saying staff were very friendly and the service was great. I ordered the All American Breakfast for $16.99 and it came with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon strips, and 2 sausages. The pancakes tasted like the batter they use at hotels for their continental breakfast waffles- same thing with the syrup- the whole plate was just disappointing. This is the hands-down best breakfast food in Celina and maybe all of DFW! I'm a sucker for a big BACADO omelette, but when you pair it up with sausage biscuits and gravy you are in heaven. My kids always go for the pancakes and my wife the big-breakfast. Affordable and you feel like you are alerting at your grandma's house. Went there for breakfast after hearing great reviews. The food was decent basically everything you would expect from a breakfast/brunch, place. The service was good, until we disclosed that we had a 10% discount that had been published on Yelp. Once that was disclosed, a 20% automatic gratuity was slapped on our bill and the tone changed. No disrespect, but I've been in the service industry and I tip well...until you slap a standard gratuity on a 6 top. For that alone, I'll never be back again. read more

Stopped by for a quick lunch on a Saturday and there was no wait. Pictures of the hamburgers looked good so we tried the bacon cheeseburger. It was...OK. Cooked fine and bun was fresh but not much seasoning and meat was really dense and almost dry. The fries were really good. Our Cokes were "off" and our server (Aneysia - who did a great job) noticed we were tasting them and came over to say the Coke machine needed fixing and the CO2 was off. I thought they wouldn't charge us for the sodas we barely drank but nope...charged $5.98 for two drinks. I'm sure we could've requested it to be removed but I always like to see how a business responds in these known situations We'll give them another try for breakfast as it does get good reviews overall. read more

Solid breakfast location in Celina. My family has made this their only breakfast place since we moved here because it's consistent and dependable for food and service. I like to call ahead to see how busy they are. Sometimes you can get in and sat immediately even on a weekend morning--other times you'll have to wait it out like every where else. My kids love the Mickey Mouse pancakes and their hot chocolate. I like the chilaquiles or an omelet. It's an easy win for our family. read more

What a great place. Same owner as the restaurant in Frisco called Frisco Star Cafe. Great food, good quality materials and the prices are VERY good. Very friendly service and my wife and I were checked on more than a few times to make sure that we were happy and did not need anything. Go for the omelettes! PS They serve good coffee... This is an ok brunch establishment. The skillets are good and so is the staff. The prices have gotten to high for the food. The sausage is premade and the food quality doesn't warrant the high prices. I understand they are paying more for food, and I certainly understand the margins are low, my complaint would be the price doesn't match the quality. If you're in the area it's worth looking into, the staff is super friendly and helpful, my only complaint is price versus quality. read more

If I could give them a zero star review I would do so. We have eaten here a multitude of times, there are servers there that we really like, and who treat our kids well. We do think the food is very over priced. Outside of that, today marked our families last visit there. At 10:20 after paying my bill, I was finishing my coffee and water, and the hostess who had been also arguing with who I think is the owner at the front proceed to try and tell me nicely I had to go because they needed the table. To be clear, I didn't have a computer out, and I wasn't overstaying my welcome by any means. This is simply not acceptable, and even said "nicely", is incredibly rude. This incident, along with the very expensive casual breakfast menu, I would try somewhere else, and it's a shame because this is a local business... read more

Took my local Texas- based family (party of 11!!!!) here for breakfast on a whim and we got a table immediately even though the place looked busy! Waitress was fast and efficient taking orders from 3 (really well behaved) kids, 3 couples in their 40s/50s, and our Dad and step-mom without a mistake in our drinks, orders and various add-ons and substitions!! Chocolate chip pancakes were amazing (and HUGE),chicken and waffles were the bomb, biscuits and gravy and eggs and chicken fried chicken and eggs Benedict....on and on....were hot, tasty, and filling to the point of putting us into a food coma. My husband & I love to eat here. It's only 2 mins down the road & it's always so quick & fresh for both dine-in & to-go's. I get the all American breakfast with 2 pieces of bacon & 2 sausage patties as well as eggs & your choice of griddle (I got French toast). You can substitute the eggs out for hash browns which I thought was nice & You're able to add Nutella & strawberries on your French toast or pancake so I did & it was great! Oh, and don't worry about the shortcuts -- when they're done disappointing your taste buds, they'll hit you with a credit card fee for the privilege. When a manager finally did arrive at the table he divulged that he had worked there for six years and they use Windex to clean the tables instead of sanitizing them ( which they apparently do at the end of the evening...). He also stated that they don't use degreaser on the tables, cause it leaves streaks... not sure that has anything to do with being up to code and actually disinfecting a table so patrons do not get sick. Being in the restaurant industry for as long as my husband and I have been we're questioning their serve safe certification and if they understand specific codes and policy, that you abide by working in the restaurant industry. Shame on the owner of this restaurant and all of the staff that are supposedly health code knowledgeable and certified. Please do better. We will not be back and I sincerely caution anyone that goes into this restaurant.

First time here after seeing great reviews for a long time, so expectations were probably higher…read morethan they should've been. My wife and I came in on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch slash early dinner and overall the experience just left us asking, do we not get it? The vibe is cool and the space itself is nice. We didn't do the golf bays, but they look like the main draw and I can see how that would be fun with the right group. From an atmosphere standpoint, no real complaints. Food is where things fell apart a bit. We both ordered the Local Burger and it was mid at best. The bun completely fell apart and the fries were soggy, which is always disappointing when you're paying for something that's clearly trying to present itself as elevated bar food. It is weird that the menu is so limited. Usually fine with that cause it makes the food that is there much better, but that didn't happen this time. Service didn't help much either. The servers were all in their early 20s and spent a good amount of time texting and loudly talking at the end of the bar. I honestly don't care about that as long as service is still attentive, but that part was missed. Drinks sat empty longer than they should have and it just felt disengaged. Overall, it feels like a place that's trying to be fancier than it actually is. The food doesn't justify the hype and I'm guessing the golf bays are what really make this place worth it. I might come back if a friend wanted to go, but it wouldn't be my pick.
