Based on my first visit for a cleaning, I am rating Dehnert Dental 5 stars. The office is very nice and clean. The hygenist was very nice and actually took time to explain each step (i.e. that's what the counting means!!!) I met the female dentist at the end of the appointment and she was very nice as well. I read negative reviews on billing, but my insurance covered it all, so no problems there. read more

I had been to 3 other dentists in Tucson before I found Dehnert Dental a year ago. Both Dr. Dehnert and his wife Dr. Mednick are GREAT! Dr. Dehnert was kind enough to come in on his day off to treat my toothache while I was visiting family in the Tucson area. Not only did he go out of his way to help me, he was so professional and painless! I ended up coming to Dehnert Dental when I had to have a root canal and crown. My insurance didn't cover crowns at all so I was shopping around a bit for prices. But only for dentists with good ratings! I didn't want to have an inferior crown cost me a lot of money later just to save a couple bucks now. The process of getting the crown was fairly non-painful. I got the crown 5 months ago and I haven't had any problems with it so far. I also recently had a set of x-rays done. He does a very complete job of taking x-rays and going over them. Most dentists I go to just come into the room after a cleaning and vaguely look at your teeth and that's it. But he goes through all the x-rays while you're sitting there. The cleaning is scheduled separately from the x-rays and I was very impressed with the cleaning too. The woman that did my cleaning was very nice and she was very thorough. I have some staining in between my teeth because I drink a lot of coffee and tea and she got all the staining off! At my old dentist, they never really paid attention to that. I also had 2 cavities filled there (Wow, it sounds like I have really bad teeth...). It all went smoothly and I haven't had any problems with them but I only got them filled yesterday. :P I think the prices are also pretty good. At least compared to my old dentist. They accept the Aetna dental discount plan too. I don't know what the prices are without the discount plan though. Overall, I'm very impressed! read more

The staff here are all so kind and professional. They really seem to care about their patients. From the front desk to the doctors themselves. I have never been so pleased with my dental care. I am a new patient, and I am one of those people who get really anxious when going to the dentist. Against my better judgement, and monetary concerns it had been about 5 years since I'd last visited a dentist, so I had some pretty big issues with my teeth, and procedures that had to be done which were very scary for me. Dr. Mednick and Dr. Denhert are both very gentle, and also direct- no sugar coating here, which is good. They genuinely care about the best outcome for their patients, are very professional and do great work. The receptionists, office manager and hygienists are all so thoughtful. I've never felt more comfortable and welcome in an uncomfortable place. I hate going to the dentist, but a lot less now knowing I'm in great hands. Also, the views from the chair are hard to beat. read more

Great front office, so professional and kind. They don't "chat" up front about thier social lives, patients, etc. All business. Both dentists are thorough, up to date, and very nice. Best of all, my hygienst, Ava. Without a doubt, THE BEST hygienst I have ever encountered. A true pro, knows her craft, does an incredibly thorough gum watch and cleaning, educates you on hygiene, products, and procedures. I will be flying back to Tucson from my new home in Colorado, just to see Ava. It absolutely doesn't get better than this for your dental care. read more

I had not been to a dentist for 3+ years because of a bad experience with a prior dentsit. I needed several crowns and a root canal. I was not a happy camper, until I went to Dr. Mednick. She is awesome. She explained everything to me and why it needed to be done. I was at ease within minutes of discussing my plan. My procedures were virtually painless. I am so glad I read these online reviews to find this office. I would recommend the professionals at Denhert Dental to anyone who might be nervous about dental work. These people, from the front desk to the dental assistants, are all awesome and create a comfortable yet professional atmosphere. The exam rooms are spotless and always clean, and I have to mention the awesome view of the Catalina's you get from the exam chair!! In 6 months time my dental problems are fixed and I am looking forward to my future dental plans with Dr. Mednick and Dehnert Dental. ps...I dont know of a single "waiting" room that you dont have to wait in....it's not that long of a wait. Awful experience! To have my teeth cleaned and get 2 minor fillings done it took 4 trips to see Dr. Dehnert. First trip was a "consultation" where all he did was talk about my lisp (which I've had my entire life); he was convinced I needed to see an orthodontist friend of his about it and wrote me a referral. Poor bedside manner too. Then I was shocked when afterwards he said, "OK, go ahead up front and schedule your cleaning appointment." I thought that's what I was having done today! "No, you have to come back for that." Second trip was the cleaning, which was the worst, most painful cleaning I've ever had - it left my mouth/gums sore for a couple of days. Again, I was under the impression that I was going to have the cavities taken care of this appointment as well, but no, had to schedule separately once the cleaning was done. Third trip he did one, yes, only ONE, of the fillings. I waited 50 minutes after my scheduled appointment time (plus I got there 15 minutes early per office request) and the procedure itself took less than 10 min. Last trip was similar - waited a long time and only saw the dentist for a few minutes. Every other dentist I've been to would have done all 3 procedures in 1 or 2 visits max. I've never been to a dentist where it felt like I was being robbed of my time and money every step of the way. Once all the work was completed I immediately found another dentist. My new dentist said there has been a lot of fraud in the dental world and to be leery of a filling that is done so, so quickly - mostly just some superficial scraping of the tooth and then a filling that doesn't need to be done in the first place. What a disappointment (except for the amazing views of the Catalinas, of course)! read more

Denhert Dental is by far the best dentist office I've ever been a patient with. Denhert came highly recommended from a friend, and I understood why as soon as I called and made the appointment - the administrative team was wonderfully warm, professional, and helpful. They greeted me with big smiles at my first appointment. They admin staff is great about appointment reminders, and they go out of their way to work with your insurance provider to make your out of pocket bill as affordable as possible. The view from many of their exam rooms is simply lovely, and the facilities are beautiful. The x-ray digital enhancement tools they have are cutting edge - the software they use allows the dentist to identify areas of concern you'd other wise miss. Both of the dentists who have seen me were extremely knowledgeable and personable. All of the hygienists have been so pleasant, gentle, and efficient. Highly recommend! read more

I'm also new to Tucson, so got to work on Google to investigate Dentist ratings, and compare the top rated dentists against MetLife's Preferred Dental providers list. A top match was Dehnert Dental, so got on the phone to make an appointment. Prompt, friendly and professional voice on the other end of the line set-up my first appointment, so felt I was on the right track. This morning, pulled up in front of a brand new, beautiful stucco/stone professional building, further dissipating the apprehension of a new doctor/dentist visit. Welcomed in the door, promptly processed new patient paperwork, and wisked to the back to face a bevy of smiling, professional looking staff. My hygenist, Stephanie, was young, but very professional and friendly. After some welcome and overdue cleaning, I was greeted by Dr. LeeAat Mednick, distinguished graduate from the University of California. Very friendly, relaxed and professional exchange of information ensued. After nearly two hours of comprehensive evaluation and recommendations, left feeling very comfortable, looking forward to my return visit and better about Tucson as my new home. I very much enjoyed being a new patient here! I was nervous to establish care with a dentist in Tucson, as I recently have moved here and am used to my mom being my dental hygienist! With that said, I feel fairly knowledgable regarding tooth care, but asked the staff at this clinic to see how much they knew. From the assistants and dental hygienists to Dr. Dehnert, they all were happy to answer my questions in a way I could understand. I was able to schedule my filling the day after my regular cleaning! I also overheard the front desk assistant offer a 10% discount for anyone who doesn't have dental insurance and pays in cash. The clinic is also on the second floor which allows for Windows and a gorgeous view of the mountains! I'm very happy to return in 6 months! read more

Well this is pretty simple. Everyone is genuinely concerned for you dental health. I have been a patient for a couple years and have never felt like the Dr was doing something that didn't need to be done. Always an honest evaluation at my check ups. I am a patient of Dr. Dehnert's, and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this office to anyone. I always enjoy speaking with the doctor, and the entire staff is always friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable.. Especially the girls up in the front. This has been my first time to Dehnert Dental and I would definitely recommend this office to family and friends. The ladies in the front office were professional and welcoming. Jessica was friendly and very helpful getting me in and out quickly. The office and dental rooms are kept very clean. Dr. Mednick took wonderful care of my teeth and he was very professional. Amy was the hygienist. I explained to her that having my teeth worked on gave me anxiety. She was extremely helpful at getting me to relax and she was gentle with my teeth. Being somewhat new to Tucson, I came here because of the excellent online reviews. The staff, hygienist, and dentist are all very friendly. But I was very concerned about the experience level of the hygienist. It felt like it was her first day. My biggest issue was that of safety/hygiene. She forgot to use the lead blanket during the x-rays, and I had to ask her to use it part-way through. Before checking my teeth, she handed me a pair of really grimy, greasy glasses (to protect my face from the spray). (This made me worry if the dental tools were clean). She also didn't even get the blood pressure cuff applied correctly the first time. She was very nice, so I feel bad writing this, but in all honesty, I don't trust her cleaning my teeth because of how inexperienced she seemed. I'm going to have to find another dental office. In all fairness, Dr. Dehnert seemed professional and friendly. read more

I initially thought Dr. Dehnert would be a wonderful dentist. His office was clean, the office staff and hygienists were kind, and he seemed pleasant, even likable. After bringing my 7 year old, we had a different opinion entirely. He and his wife (Dr. Mednick) were both rude and impatient when my son became nervous. To make matters worse, the fillings he did fell out. When we returned to have them redone (which is no picnic for a child), he was curt and unapologetic. He didn't even bother to greet me. Nearly every filling he has done on my son has since fallen out and he has been unwilling to stand by his work. He has reacted with indignation and shows a total lack of competence in his work. We are now left paying for dental bills out-of-pocket as insurance won't cover previously done fillings. I am so disappointed with his lack of professionalism and ability to take responsibility for his work. I would highly discourage anyone from ever trusting your dental care to Dehnert Dental. read more
