This review is going to be difficult to write because I have such mixed feelings. My last rating was a five-star review and parts of my wife's and I experience merit another five stars, but parts of the same experience merit a one-star. And that makes it difficult! Let's start with the positive... Their prime rib continues to be fantastic. It's meaty, flavorful, and juicy. After having some prime rib specials at other restaurants, I can really see that they quality varies. In addition, Dehn's dinner comes with excellent Parker-house rolls and butter, cup of au jus, and a baked potato -- all of which is good. It also comes with soup or salad. Their Beef Barley soup is one of the best version of beef barley soup that I've ever had. It's loaded with ingredients, the broth has a deep flavor and I have always enjoyed their version of it. So far, this is five star territory. However, on to the not so good... I ordered the prime rib medium rare and it was clearly medium to medium well done. Honestly, if you want medium rare, medium well done is a big disappointment. I asked the waitress for a more rare piece and when she returned she told me that the chef said the piece I got was from the center of the roast and was the rarest piece they had. Although they took $8 off the price, it was not a great experience and the meat just could have been much more juicy and tasty if they had cooked it properly. But there is more. My wife order the fried chicken and for the third time in a row, they said they didn't have it. (Dehn's, if you don't carry it, either take it off the menu or tell your guests about it before they order). My wife went with the grilled chicken breast, which arrived looking like and tasting like either a frozen piece of chicken, or a bad airline meal (for those of you who can remember that). It was really tasteless and dry. In addition to all of that, we waited 15 minutes to be seated in the nearly empty restaurant because (we were told) they were short staffed. In fact, there seemed to be one waitress and one kitchen staff person for the restaurant. Service was slow (although friendly by the person who wasn't really a waitress). So what's up with Dehn's? The area around the restaurant is turning from farm land to housing. The hours of the restaurant have been cut severely and they are now only open for dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. My gut tells me that they are "caretaking" the restaurant and that although they have been open since 1958, I doubt they are going to see 2028. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday evening and had a great experience. We ordered the Prime Rib and it was tasty. The outer crust spice rub was excellent and the meat was beautifully marbled. Salad was good and the house blue cheese dressing is good. Baked potato done for easy eating and the insides were soft and flavorful. Hot dinner rolls too. Service was excellent and they even had a group of 40 in the back room. Ambiance is old time supper club. The value for the money is good. Give this place a try! read more

Fun and good home cooking. Can be very crowded, so plan accordingly. Servers are longtime employees and very friendly and efficient.

Cod was good, served with a tablespoon of tartar sauce, baked potato, coleslaw was marginal served in a plastic cup. More of church basement type meal. We went to Dehn's on Friday 8/16/25. Don't know what happened but it took over 1 hour to get our meals served to us. No explanation for the delay. I ordered 10 oz. sirloin with baked potato. My first bit of my steak was very strange it tasted sour? Two more bits the same awful sour taste. I had to have my wife try it too, she agreed it tasted sour. I mentioned this to our waitress & she very kindly didn't charge us for that meal. I'm hoping the ownership can get their act together and resolve the many issues with customer service. It would be very sad to see this long time establishment close after all these years. read more

Dehn's is a legit old school supper club - 4 stars! I really enjoyed my visit to Dehn's Country Manor. They're the real deal - a vintage supper club - established in 1955 and still operated by the original owners. They serve dinner, Sunday brunch, and daily specials along with a full bar. The restaurant is large with lots of real wood paneling, a stone fireplace, lots of seating with banquet style chairs, big vinyl booths...you get the idea. I love it! The food was great and the customer service was first rate. Both of us ordered the BBQ Ribs specials and we weren't disappointed. I get the impression that I would really love the Sunday brunch. It's definitely on my list. Finally, the food prices were amazingly reasonable. I don't know how they do it in this economy with all the crazy food inflation. They are open for breakfast again on Saturday and Sunday. Opens at 8:00 AM. I had the Cajun specialty breakfast with anduille. It was spectacularly good. My wife had their Farmers specialty breakfast and loved it. Read the menu carefully, the eggs are under the hash browns. I'd have to say this is the best breakfast we've had in this area in quite a long time. We'll definitely be going back again soon to try more of the specialty breakfasts. Our server was delightful and still learning their P.O.S. system. They are working towards being open for breakfast seven days a week and hiring for good service staff. read more

Arrived and the restaurant wasn't event half full of people but still sat and waited 45mins to 1hr for mediocre, burnt and bland food. Server was basically non existent, didn't update us at all, didn't offer any refills. Another server gave us some fruit and a muffin because our toddler was getting fussy after waiting for so long, if it wasn't for that we'd had left before our food arrived. I've only attempted dining there once and ordered the chateaubriand to share with my wife. I've never had such a TOUGH cut of meat. Especially from a tenderloin. I kind of suspect that they substituted an eye of round for the tenderloin, it was that tough and chewy. It was so bad that I will not go back. The food was fantastic and our server was nothing but wonderful! That atmosphere is really cool just having the older dining experience.

This review is a 3.5 star. Our experience overall was fairly good, but just didn't really knock it out of the park. The location is a bit different, you'd never find it if you weren't seeking it out. It considers itself fine dining, and although the menu appears that way, the rest doesn't quite seem it. That being said, service on our visit was stellar. The food itself was good, but nothing great. The cheese curds with sriracha ranch, the prime rib, the beef barley soup... all good, but nothing that was a true standout dish to set it apart from other local restaurants. On the price front, it is very affordable, so that does help make up for some of that. I'd give it another try for sure, as it isn't bad by any means. read more

Stopped at Dehn's for the first time. We were the first ones in for the evening crowd!! Greeted and sat immediately, took our drink order and let us check out the menu. Service was extraordinary I had the tenderloin, wife had the deep fried walleye. Everything was cooked to order, hash browns were really good. Only thing that was a little negative was my steak was a bit under seasoned but they had salt and pepper on the table so I was able to fix it myself. We will be back. read more

Mediocre at best. Advertised for premier steak and seafood, average $20 per dinner plate. The portions were TINY. I ordered broiled walleye and it was tasteless. The salad looked like dead iceberg from a schcafeteria, baked potato was miniature wrapped in foiled and served with a sour cream PACKET, standard fries and sides. Dish ware and plating were sub par and the seating/tables look like it could be bingo hall on Sundays. Sorry, but I will not be returning and do no recommend. read more

In a sea of what is big box stores and chain restaurants that we call Maple Grove lies Dehn's Country Manor. I made my first visit on a Saturday morning for breakfast thanks to a number of friends recommending it as a great place for breakfast in Maple Grove. With a quick review of the menu online I was intrigued and ready to give it a try. Dehn's opened in 1958 and I'm not sure they have changed much since. Although I wasn't a massive fan of the drab and dated decor it did have a certain level of charm and comfort. The breakfast menu is huge. From hash to Benedict to omelettes to skillets there is something on this breakfast menu for everyone. I decided to go with the "Witch Doctor" a scramble with farm fresh eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, broccoli, onions, bell pepper and fresh cut habanero (yes, fresh cut habanero!!), all atop home made hash browns and a covering of hollandaise sauce. Now, I am a fan of hot so when I saw fresh but habaneros I got pretty excited. The portion was huge, the hash browns were nice and crispy and there was certainly some heat. I did however notice there were also fresh but jalapeños as well which is fine but I would have preferred more of the habaneros rather than a mix of the two peppers. My assumption is this is done on purpose to balance the heat but I don't know that for sure. I also have to make note of the INCREDIBLE marble rye bread that was served with it. Absolutely delicious and perfectly toasted. Its very easy to take a nice piece of bread for granted but can really make breakfast that much better. Overall I enjoyed the meal and would return again for breakfast as well as recommend it for anyone looking for something local in Maple Grove. Dehn's is an old school steakhouse and bottle club and after breakfast I will also be returning to give them a try for dinner with a review to follow! read more

It's nice to have a local place like this in Maple Grove for breakfast. When you enter it looks like a family restaurant with antique decor. I don't think they have updated the style since they opened I. 1958. My favorite part was the cute fireplace that made for a warm and cozy touch. We went for breakfast. We had endless coffee which was your generic coffee. They constantly were coming to refill which was nice. The server was kind and helpful. I went with the Cajun which was hash browns, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms and cheese topped with two eggs medium and Cajun hollandaise. It was pretty good. It lacked slightly in flavor as I needed to coat it in hot sauce to save the day. Great portion size for $11.95 and you can add sausage for $2. I love the Rye toast! Found this cute restaurant. I called to find out what it was near. Our waitress Tracie was great. She is sweet, caring and knowledgeable. I had steak sandwiches with salad and fries. The salad is really big and homemade dressing. Bread comes to the table. My mom had fried chicken which was good but she had salted caramel cheesecake which she said was great. Reasonably priced but service is best. Tracie works Tuesday,Friday and Sunday you won't be disappointed. read more

We were here not long ago with medium size group and the food was well let's say the best part of my meal was the glass of water. The BBQ ribs were the worst I've had, extremely over cooked, smelled and tasted like bad ham. With the texture and look of the ribs I'd say they were boiled with liquid smoke and the other issue is they left the silverskin on, 2 bites and it was over. My better half had a bacon cheese burger that was ok. Reason I did not send my meal back was due to them somehow loosing the table order and our food coming out when 3/4 of our group was done eating. We tried this spot on Sunday afternoon. We arrived at about quarter past 5 and were surprised to see it was fairly busy so early into the dinner hour. We were greeted and told to seat ourselves. We sat at a table close to the bar and were promptly greeted by the server. The ONLY server. She was sweet and took our drink order while we perused the brief menu. The host? Brought us a basket of warm rolls and our drinks followed shortly. Although clearly overwhelmed with 8 or so tables she had our server proceeded with grace and never missed a beat. She was friendly great smile and very helpful. We order the Chateubriand for two. The "side" salad could have been a meal in and of itself and the homemade dressing fabulous. Our meal was presented and the Chateubriand did not disappoint. It was cooked to perfection! My only critique would be that of the tired old baked potato presented. Yes potato was yellow and gummy instead of the usual white fluffy look of a fresh potato. I chalk that up to too many made and sitting from Sunday lunch. Loved this place! Felt very small town. Yet it was only 3 miles from my house in Champlin. Steak and hash towns were awesome and my kids loved the cheeseburgers. It's a real Mom and Pops type of place. Proof? Any time my Mom and Pops come to town, this is their choice to dine out. Having grown up in a small town/rural area, I too prefer the quaint simplicity of Dehn's to the sterility of the typical chains that abound in Maple Grove. The restaurant has been in operation since 1958, far before the area was built up into what it is today. Dehn's hearkens back to a bygone era where families gathered around the table and enjoyed one another's company with hearty food and good cheer. With a friendly wait staff and lack of pretense, you can sit back and enjoy a solid meal at a reasonable price. I've mainly stuck to the steaks, and they've been well prepared and flavorful. My latest excursion found me with a slab of prime rib (only available Thursday-Saturday), which was herb crusted, tender, and delicious. At $18.95, it's priced right ($16.95 on Thursday night special). It comes with baked potato or French fries, or you can upgrade to hash browns for $0.75. I upgraded and found the hash browns to be tasty, though I wish they were crispier. It is also served with a side of au jus and creamy horseradish by request. Horseradish is a must for me. All entrées also come with soup or side salad and a basket of warm dinner rolls--all good, too. They serve beer and wine only, with set ups available as they do not serve liquor. You can bring your own bottle. I've never done so, but it's an option. They've got a decent selection of beers to satisfy most palates (see my photo of the menus). Joyce has been our waitress more than a few times and she is simply delightful. She is on the ball, friendly, and makes sure you have a great experience. Such a nice lady! Overall, I recommend Dehn's for its timeless simplicity, good food, and great service. Came for the Friday Fish Fry. Although we had a reservation and there were many open tables, we waited 20 minutes to be seated while watching some of the regulars get shown to their tables. Service was painfully slow. It was a hour from the time of our reservation to the time we received our meals. The kids filled up on bread and crackers while waiting. What a nice spot. You would think you were up north instead of 5minutes outside Maple Grove. Started with a sampler platter with very good ribs, perfect onion rings and standard mozzarella sticks. Wife had a huge walleye fillet and I had the fried shrimp. Very good- they use the same breading as the onion rings and walleye I believe. They have wine but only offer setups otherwise. My wife likes this place but I don't care for it. We both had prime rib. It was good but I was hoping for better. It lacked having enough. The service was great tonight. The beef with barley was good even if it was just a little too salty. I think that more times than not we had flies visit our table. That is very uncommon anywhere else. The last time I was there the was a kid screaming at a nearby table. I think I'm a pretty easy guy to satisfy but I expect better than what this place has to offer. read more
