I've been finding it more often that after a full portion at a restaurant, I still feel a bit hungry, that's mainly due to just the general shrink-flation effect, but that was not the case here! Bob's Mac burger, with two 1/3 pound patties, left me not even being able to finish my fries It was definitely a hardy meal! We waited about 10 mins for a table but there is a bar out there that you can grab a drink while you wait. Once we got a table our service was speedy. The food did take a little bit to get out to us but again, it was busy, so I understood that. I ordered the ribs and my partner ordered the Korean pork sandwich. The ribs were good. The mashed potatoes were so good but maybe could have been hotter. But the slaw was not good at all. Beer was cold and waitress was so nice. They do have a large parking lot. The waitress lied to us, and then was insanely rude. I confronted her, then she ran to the Manager and all of a sudden, we were getting kicked out. I was a regular at The Lookout before this, and have easily spent thousands of dollars at this establishment, but I will literally NEVER go back. The bartender wouldn't allow us to sign our own tab, so she signed it herself right In front of us, which as far as I know is illegal. Maple Grove has so many options, and this is easily the worst customer experience that I have ever had. GO ANYHERE other than this place. Tried this place for the first time. We did takeout. I ordered the broasted chicken with fries and coleslaw. The chucked was very good. I did not like the fries at all and the coleslaw was strictly vinegar, very bad. My fiance had the steak bites. They were tough and it was mostly mushrooms and onions which were greasy. ($20+) I received a very small container of mashed potatoes & gravy, two dried out chicken wings, and two chicken breasts (mostly good). No other sides. When I called to report the error I was transferred three times until I could speak with someone who could handle a small problem. When you think of Maple Grove, you think of all the chain restaurants off Elm Creek Blvd. or Main Street. There must be hundreds of them. What you DON'T think about is a very busy bar and grill that is incongruously located in the middle of houses, in a part of Maple Grove you never knew existed. You also don't expect that a Maple Grove restaurant could have existed since 1958. If you aren't really familiar with the area, you'll want to GPS it. Yet, here stands The Lookout Bar and Grill; a perennial favorite. I don't know how or why I discovered this place, but it doesn't disappoint. My favorite is the "broasted" fried chicken, which is fried chicken that has been made in a pressure cooker (I had to Google it). It's juicy, crispy, and tender. What more could you want from fried chicken? It's a great price. Pro Tip: If you like white meat chicken ($1.59 extra), order a 3-piece and you'll get TWO large breasts and a wing -- along with a swimming pool of mashed potatoes and gravy, a very moist piece of cornbread, and creamy coleslaw for $14.99. Sometimes my wife and I split this and it's enough for two ($7.50 a person!!). Did I mention that the mashed potatoes and gravy are larger than Lake Superior? You can even sub in tater-tots or fries, if you want. Lookout has excellent wings, and they also can double as an entree (8 wings for $12.99). I don't mean to imply that Lookout is a chicken restaurant. Their menu is quite varied and the food is cooked to order. I haven't ever had anything bad here and the prices are a tremendous value. Yet, I suspect that many people know Lookout for the huge bar, and live music. They have a stage inside the restaurant and it is pretty loud even BEFORE the band plays. When the band is playing, forget conversation unless you and your dining companions have headsets. Most of the time, I eat here before the band starts to play, so it's OK. But you may like the music; most people do. Also, pull tabs seem to be a big thing here. People buy them literally by the bucket, but I doubt many of those people can quit their day-jobs at the end of the night, based on their winnings (or losings, as the case may be). My new favorite place in Maple Grove! I am shocked with the bad reviews, we had such a great time. Let's start with the vibes! When we got there, it was super confusing. First I thought we were in the wrong place, because we were in a neighborhood. We saw there was a playground, but inside, it looks very old school, bikerish bar. At 3PM, the bar was busy, tables were full, and there was a retirement party going on in the banquet room. We were tucked in one of the back rooms which helped with noise. Our server was very attentive and kind, even with our chaotic group. I appreciated that there were a few items noted on the menu as gluten-free. I ordered a ghost pepper burger with a gluten-free bun. The burger was decent, but not quite cooked to my liking despite the server asking what temperature I would like it. The brisket wontons were very good, although I would have liked a "homemade" take on BBQ for dipping rather than just a packaged version. Think they could have added more to this one by doing so. This year I started trying different places that serve Broasted Chicken: I have been introduced to broasted chicken since 1978. My assistant told me about this place and insisted I come and I try. Well I placed my order at 11:05 on Sunday morning to make sure I get the fresh oil. I picked up my broasted Chicken at 11:45 it was ready on time. They brought it out for me. Since I've never been here I drove around to see why they called it the lookout and you can tell from my pictures it has nice of you I would like to come back in the summer explore this view. The chicken was excellent: not too oily, crunchy enough on the outside and no suspicious salmonella wannabe red meat pieces close to the bone. I wish this place learns about the garlic sauce that we use in the Middle East with broasted chicken. We are new to Maple Grove, and one of the exciting perks was having The Lookout in walking distance of our house. However, COVID had different plans this season for dining out. We didn't want to see this great local hang disappear before we got to experience it in person, so we ordered takeout to support them as best we can. And I will say this: Best takeout pub food that tasted like you were there so far this pandemic. And we've taste tested a lot of soggy fries! I was very impressed with their cheese curds and their Mac and cheese. But the steak bites put me over the top! SO DELISH AND TENDER AND FLAVORFUL! Also had the Maple Grove Crimson Burger with fries and seasoned sour cream. All were perfectly cooked and definitely not soggy. This is obviously a very popular spot in the middle of a residential area. You could almost miss it if you weren't paying attention. I am sure it's a fun place for the locals to hang out but I wish the food was a little better. We stopped in for brunch on Sunday and I'd like to say it was good but it wasn't. The tater tots in my skillet were gross. They tasted like old frying oil and I couldn't eat them. Also, your host at the stand wasn't overly friendly and when we asked where the meeting room we had reserved, they said, "in the back". As a new patron, it would have been nice for her to direct us rather than be asked a second time and be snapped at with her answer.
