This is almost unheard of in the towing business. He safely transported me, my 2 dogs and my car to the Hyundai dealer in Sycamore. I have no complaints whatsoever. Mike got in and did his job quickly and effectively. He helped me out a great deal in the process; having had no problem with giving me and my dogs a lift to the dealership so that I could wait for my husband there. Car wasn't damaged by the tow. Although it's never fun to call roadside assistance (especially during a busy holiday weekend) my experience was an extremely positive one.

I was inside their building for less than 5 minutes. In that time tri-state had begun to hook up my vehicle. (Shame on me for not having a parking sticker for that parking lot, that IS on me). I ran to my car explaining to them what happened and I was met with a "I don't care, lady". As all of my belongings (wallet, ID, phone, etc) were in my car, I ran over to grab them before my vehicle was towed away. The driver rushed towards me. I got nervous and slammed and locked the door with myself inside. He began screaming at me to get out of the car. When I told him "No, you're making me nervous." His response was for me to "suck and choke on his balls". I told him I was calling the police and at that point his response had gotten the attention of residents who were trying to protect me. He unhooked my vehicle and scurried away. I'll attach of photo of my original comment that had gotten removed. Shame on tri-state towing for not firing workers who sexually assault female customers. Shame on yelp for protecting that kind of business.

They decided to be "nice" and give us a "deal" of $900, but we had 2 hours to come up with the money and come get the car. The deal wouldn't stand past end of business that day. We could not do this. I needed to be towed 56 miles to my home near Chicago. Northern Illinois Towing quoted $345 to my motor club. The club only covers $125. The $230 difference would be out of pocket! I told my motor club dispatcher to forget it and call another service. They couldn't find anybody else local. It seems the tollway is a racket with only one tow service per x stretch of miles. I was trapped with no alternative so I said send him and I'll try and negotiate a better price or have him drop my car closer to home off the tollway when my $125 allowance expired. The driver (and company owner) told me it was $80 just to hook up the car plus the tolls and mileage to get to me. So the $125 was basically gone before I got in his cab. Great. I offered cash if he would reduce his fee. He refused. He also added that if I paid with a credit card, it would be $11 more. I had no recourse but to pay him $238.10 when we arrived at my home. Technically, this is as close to highway robbery as one could get. Legal? Probably. Honest and helpful? Nope. I filed a complaint with my Motor Club and will, futilely, seek a reimbursement for some of the money. Why pay for a motor club membership if they don't screen the services they offer. Stay away from this unfair gouger. A nightmare.

My greatest concern is an unanticipated breakdown, and that's exactly what happened the first time I visited the C.A.R. Hospital. Usually, there's a clear view from the shop area to the waiting area/service desk--where I anxiously crane my neck to see where my car sits in the line of work. Usually, the waiting area is cramped and unclean, a place for stale coffee and man-picked TV. Usually, I find myself on the receiving end of vague terms with hens-and-haws, until I prove my cursory understanding of a fuel combustion engine and the ABS system. Here's what it's like at Bill White's: complementary beverages if you need to wait; free local pick-up and drop-off when requested; always friendly and polite service counter assistance by Rachel, Joy, and Bill; absolutely clear communication about diagnosis of problem and solution to problem, clear communication about the reasonable price of service or repair, and clear communication about exactly when work will be completed; lastly, there's a thank you card or coupon in the mail--real savings, not just some stupid systems-check, on something a car really needs. I made it clear I understood the risks and that there would be no guarantee if I went aftermarket. After hearing the price, the person on the phone said they spoke with a manager and that they were willing to work with me after doing a diagnostic. When I arrived in person, it was as if that entire conversation never happened. They refused to quote or consider aftermarket at all, despite me repeating that I understood the risks. When I mentioned the phone call, they dismissed it and even suggested I must have called the wrong place--despite having all my information for the appointment and it being my first time there. I don't fault any shop for choosing not to install aftermarket parts. I fault them for telling me one thing over the phone just to get me in the door. If I hadn't double‑checked, they absolutely would have charged me for the diagnostic and then refused to do the work they previously agreed to.
