Brought my perfectly good 2018 diesel truck in for routine service. Drove it home 5 miles. Next day wife starts the truck and the message directs her to shut engine off due to low oil pressure. Ten quarts of oil spewed all over my driveway. I inspected the oil plug and the oil filter. Oil filter had oil on it. Got vehicle towed back to dealer. Service manager eventually had problem fixed but insisted they did nothing wrong. Told me he would clean up the mess. But that never happened. To their credit, they didn't charge me for the second oil change or the tow. read more

Like others I'm now seeing in reviews, they are selling used vehicles that have major issues and not disclosing them. The mechanics either fail to identify the correct problem or they know the problem, tell you something different and get the vehicle out the door past the "return" date. They offer no solution other than you pay to fix the problem, even when you pointed out a problem in the first couple days of purchase. I had to have my vehicle repaired 3 times in four months of owning it and the 4th issue they washed their hands of it. Should have bought the extended warranty is their thought, instead of they just doing their job and fixing the vehicle before selling it to you. Avoid them and buy elsewhere. read more

I had a scheduled appointment made by Brandon For Saturday as I work during the week, when I called spoke to Tommy they couldn't find my car, then he finally finds says no work was done as Brandon didn't open a service order, and the wheel alignment machine was not there. I asked Tommy what are you going to do as this was Chevy's error, I asked them to cover me with a rental on them as they made a HUGE MISTAKE, and Tommy said no the Manager would not do that. I booked an appointment online for an oil change and tire rotation for my 2017 Mercedes and was quoted a price, specifically for my vehicle. Upon completion of the service I was charged TWICE the price and told that the online quoted price came from GM , not the dealership and that I should have called to confirm the quote...They refused to negotiate the price. To top it off, they did NOT even do the tire rotation as requested, even tho they called me prior to completing the appointment to see if I wanted to BUY new tires--So I had to wait an additional 45 minutes for them to rotate the tires! We are looking to purchase an Acadia and I e-mailed before coming in to see what the numbers might be. I spoke with Darion and was given a monthly payment amount that was exactly what we were looking for. We scheduled a babysitter and came in on Saturday. We drove the Acadia and then sat down to discuss the numbers. The payment came back $153 more than the number originally discussed. Unfortunately, I believe we were given the original number to get us in the door. I realize car dealers aren't exactly known for being upfront and honest, but I honestly believed we were going to walk out with a new vehicle that day and now I'm sorry I wasted my time there. I hope you learn from my mistake and don't waste your time here either. After returning home on Saturday, I called back to the dealership and asked to speak with Steve, the finance manager to go over the numbers to see exactly where the mistake was made. He was excellent. We discussed all of the numbers and he even stated that he had no idea how we were given the original price. I recently had my Cadillac in here for a recall. I have a "V" series Cadillac so I wanted a better dealership than what I had experienced at Patrick in Schaumburg. Looking around, all reviews for Heritage in Lombard, and Naperville Cadillac weren't reassuring me either. So I looked outside my local area and found Dekalb Chevy/Cadillac/GMC. Motor Werks in Barrington was also on the good list. Anyway, the recall in question is pretty simple, a fuel pump relay and harness. Problem is, getting to it. It required exhaust removal, driveshaft removal, and dropping of the rear cradle/sub-frame and suspension to lower the tank to get to the fuel pump. Roughly a 4 hour job when everything goes according to plan. Problem is, that didn't happen! To remove the exhaust, GM engineers didn't put a flange later down the exhaust (like they do on other vehicles), to facilitate quick and easy removals. The exhaust is all one piece that only bolts to the exhaust manifold flange. This is where problems came on mine. Due to age (the car is ~9 years old), with moderate mileage, on a high temp part, bolts just don't come undone. That was the case here. Well, actually, they did come "undone"... The studs snapped on the passenger side manifold. To add complexity to the matter, these weren't standard GM exhaust studs and were specific to my LC3 engine. So those had to be special ordered from GM. Then of course the fiasco to get the busted ones out... All in all, a 4 hour job took ~2.5 days. I was almost about to do this whole recall myself as I used to be a GM tech, but I'm almost glad I didn't as I had enough of this type of thing then. On my own time, in my garage, this would've taken a week to do... But Brandon, my service advisor was great (can't say enough nice things about him), and they handled it without issue, other than the frustration of having a lift tied up with a 4,200 paper weight. He may not want to hear this, but any local "V" series owners needing this recall, I will gladly send to him. I'm also very particular about my car(s). This one never sees rain, snow, etc... So he (Brandon), was understanding and gracious enough to leave it inside before and after service. read more

Would not negotiate - waste of time - would never return to again. When my car broke down irreparably, I needed to replace it quickly. I made a list of potentially suitable cars from online listings, and drove around to see them. I actually had high hopes for the Corolla at DeKalb Auto Sales because I rather like Toyotas. I showed the salespaerson the listing, I was shown the Corolla, and as customary I took it on my test drive to the mechanic so I could get an inspection to learn what work was needed and how much the thing was really worth (I recommend anyone buying a car do this - some places like Goodyear and AAMCO offer free inspections). So I went back to the dealer with my list of repairs needed and told him what prices that I would be willing to pay for the car on the condition of those repairs being performed or not performed. And the guy tells me that they don't negotiate at his dealership. I didn't even know what to say. I can't imagine ever paying sticker price for a car, and I'm appalled that a dealership would expect it's customers to do that. I wouldn't have even looked at the car if I knew that the sticker price was not a starting price for negotiation, but the actual price for the vehicle. I cannot recommend this car dealer to anybody. I bought a lovely Cavalier from a dealer who was willing to work with me, and it has served me well. read more

My boyfriend and I came in to buy an As Is car and the service we recieved was great. The salesman was very honest about what we were getting, he let us drive a couple of choices around the block. We were in no way pushed to buy a car, but that day we found a great As Is car with low-end milage and no problems, except for the locks being corroded but that was an easy, cheap fix, for an incredible price. I work out of town, so it's a bit hard for me to get to this dealership before the service department closes at 6pm. But I came by last Thursday 2/25 and arrived at 5:35. The guys came out and said it was no problem to fit me in, even though it would be after 6pm before my car would be finished since there was a car ahead of me that they just started. I told them that I felt bad for making them stay late, but they persisted it wasn't an issue. So I left my keys and went inside to say hello to Dan Paul, who is the one that sold me my car. One of the service guys stepped out to find me and showed me that a critter had set up a home in my air filter! So gross! I scheduled an appointment via Internet and showed up exactly on time. Sat Jan 20 at 915am. I was looking at a used corvette. This dealership is almost 1.5 hrs away from my home. I was greeted promptly upon walking in and guided to a salesman named Dan. He was very pleasant and in no way is my rating based on Dan. He was 5/5 stars. After Dan and I talked for a minute, we went to take a look at the corvette. I asked if it's okay if Dan can test drive the car for me since I'm not the best manual driver, he said it was no problem. 3 minutes later the manager comes out and says we cannot test drive because it's not at least 40 degrees outside. It was 38degrees!!!!!!! He was dead serious. Apparently you can't test drive sports cars below 40 degrees. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW THIS WHEN I SCHEDULED THE APPOINTMENT BEFORE COMING TO LOOK AT THE CAR. I find it extremely hard to believe they don't test drive sports cars in less than 40 degree whether. How do you expect to sell camaros, corvettes, Chevy SS and other performance chevys for about half the year in Chicago? Crazy thing, I didn't even care to test drive it myself. I asked the salesman to! I was NOT looking for a joyride. I'm not that kind of guy. Classic dealership games. I was stereotyped 100%. Yes, I'm younger looking and I walked in with denim and a workout sweater. But, I was a ready, willing and able buyer. I felt so disrespected (by managers, not by Dan). Unbelievable experience. Had stabilitrac and abs light come on ,on my Wife's SRX. Took it to the DeKalb Cadillac and asked them to do the recall on Toe link and fix stabilitrac. Didn't have anyone to go back with me to pick it up so I took my trailer to pick it up. Parked the trailer at Menards next door . When I pulled it around the ABS light was on. I called the guy out to look at it and he says "well,looks like you are going to have to get ABS fixed". I told him that the light wasn't on when I brought it in. He didn't seem to care. Took the car home and ran a scan on it. 0045 rear WS sensor. When I took the bearing off it had metal shavings and a large clump of grease stuck between the sensor ring and the sensor and it tore a piece of the ring off. I look above the axle and see that they had to take some other suspension bolts off and that's where the metal came from. They had to take the cover off the transmission to fix the stabilitrac and left 2 bolts loose when they reassembled it (1 bolt was 6 turns out). Checked the trans with zero miles on it since the repair (they also replaced 2 transmission lines $510.84) and it was a quart low. They checked the brakes and suggested I get that done also. When asked how much pad was left,I was told 50%. When I got it home I pulled the front brakes and found 1 pad with only 80 Thousands pad left (not safe or acceptable. I have pictures for proof and I am in contact with Cadillac (not the dealership) right now. I am $2010.04 Out of pocket (not warrantee ) and Trying to see if I can get some of my money refunded for this mess that I had to make right myself. I will be sure to post the outcome on here. Be careful when buying or shopping with these people!!!!! I called and wanted my mother in-laws remote starter fixed. The price they quoted me was $125 plus a $20 "programing fee"!! I called other dealerships and they had cheaper prices and said GM won't let them charge for PROGRAMING!!!! We called the other day about a lift van for our disabled relative the person that answered the call sounded like we were wasting her time and said they didn't have any. It was too short of a time to know she didn't check the inventory!!! All the prices they post on websites are overpriced so that when you come in and they take $1000 off the price you think your getting a "good deal"!! Think again!!!! read more

We bought our Silverado here last year and had an exceptional experience. Five stars for the salesman, Chuck, and overall buying experience. The one star here represents more recent poor experience with the service department. I had the opportunity to talk to a lot of family and friends over the holiday weekend to get more perspective. Everyone was equally aghast at how this service experience rolled out: My 2015 Cruze has been leaking something that looks like motor oil under the right front part of the engine (spots in the garage and driveway were the evidence I had). I took it to the dealership, they replaced the inlet tube and oil cooler ($1,100). In the meantime, I cleaned the garage and driveway of oil spots. After the "repair," the Cruze sat in the driveway over the weekend. Monday morning, there was an identical spot in the same location on the driveway. I drove the car to work, put a piece of cardboard under it and, yes, the same spot appeared. So, I took it back to the dealership. They wanted to charge me for a rental because they didn't have a loaner, I was pretty mad. I got that resolved. They had my car for a few days, I stopped in to see what was going on (because no one called me back), and I was told they put die in the oil and cannot identify the leak (why didn't they do that the first time?). They now believe it is a transmission fluid leak, but need another $1,100 to take it apart (not including parts/materials) to find the leak. I brought the car home and will take it to a reputable mechanic. I also heard through the grapevine from someone who was formerly employed here, the shop has a bonus/commission structure. That will give you a warm and fuzzy feeling about how they spend your money. Two words: Stay away. read more

A few years ago I went to the old location on Locust Dr. A gloomy warehouse with probably the worst customer service on record!!!. So I drove 50 miles to Villa Park to get my Equinox serviced. Then I heard the old dealership had been sold and had moved to a new location on Mercantile Drive. What a change, the service guys are the best. The atmosphere is great. I had the tires rotated and when I drove it on the highway it vibrated. I took it back to the guys and they rebalanced the tires for free though they did not have to do that.They also informed me that the brake rotors would need replacing soon. I went in today and they not only did an excellent job, but there was a slight incident that they took immediate care of. Brought older car in for recalls, everything was great. I got a call @3:15p that the car would be ready in 30-45 mins. I didn't leave with my car until almost 5p. My time didn't seem to matter whatsoever. If I was told it wouldn't be ready until 5p, I would have left it until the next morning since I had somewhere to be at 4:30p.
