Good morning where do I start? This was the day before Thanksgiving. Me and my girlfriend Pam and her sister Button. We were going shopping for the pre Thanksgiving sales. We wanted something to eat for lunch before we went shopping. Pam ask did we had any Ideal what we wanted for lunch. We both didn't so she ask if we wanted ribs? We said that sounds good. But she Forgot the name of the restaurant but know the location. Then she remembered the name of the restaurant and ask me to look it up. So when I looked up, the restaurant Deke's and on the website on my phone. The restaurant was close and doesn't open until 3:00pm. But pan was determined to just drive by just to check to see if it was open. So on our way, we go reach the restaurant. I got out to check the doors. The sign did say open but wasn't for sure. Wow the doors opened up and I was shocked. So hi, pull the doors open.It was a rest of you.Then I opened the other settled doors, which led me into the restaurant. I Look around along, wasn't the front?No one was behind the bar. So I was walking around. Saying hello is anyone in here. Then I walked in The empty restaurant and walked over to the bar to see a man in the kitchen to have.Excuse me , are you open and he came to the front to greet me. He said yes then I ask are y'all serving lunch? He said, let me just check I'll be back. He went to the back and came back and said yes we are serving food. My response was thank you. So we disappear back in the kitchen. And then I spotted a big cat walked around the restaurant. That must be the restaurant pet. So I went back to the front door and did a dance and told Pam and Button to come on in. So pam turned the car off and both of them came in. A woman came out from the back and ask was we sitting in or taken out? We was sitting in to have lunch. So she set us in a booth next wednesday window, that we can look out. Then placed 3 menus on the table. She said take your times and I'll be back. Pakim and butt has been to this restaurant before.I never first time here. Always drove past and never stop. The menu has has a lot of options. This place remind you of a sports bar / restaurant. After deciding what I wanted from the menu, I was looking around snapping pictures and saying to myself, I'm gonna bring my mother back for the ribs and my husband for the pool table. Ok ok, let me tell you about the food. Pam order first, Half a slab of ribs, collard greens and pork and beans because she's been here before and she knew what she wanted then buttons ordered half of slab of ribs potato logs . Then I'm all was last because I like looking over the menu and always undecided. So then I decided to get, I had a half of slab of ribs with pork and beans and potato logs. We also had lemonade ans strawberry lemonade. Just say that the ribs was falling off the bones. Finger looking good and if I was home I will be sucking my bone. The color greens were so good with a little kick of spice. The beans taste like chili without any meat, but delicious. The potato log was nice and tender and seasoned very well. Oh I forgot and the cornbread came with ribs and it was very moist. I just wish I would've asked for some hot sauce. Because I like my rib a little hot. We ask the young lady, why on the web site said the restaurant will open a different time. He stated that customers was picking up a turkey. So then I asked her what kind of a turkey she said they had a turkey meal. With all the trimmings and all the customer had to do is unwrap and place in the oven. All for $210.00 dollar what a great deal. After all that taking and I told them we talking to her and didn't get her name. So when she came back to check up on us I ask her name. And guess what she was the owner and her name is Jackie. And her husband are the owners. Jackie came out and ask how was everything? And I said everything was great, but the collard greens just needed some potato salad. So she went to the back and brought out a sample of the potato salad. All of us took our fork to taste the potatoe salad. I put the collard greens and the potatoe on the fork and it was delicious. So the next time I come back, I'm going to have the ribs, collard greens, potato salad, the potato logs, the pork and beans. We didn't have dessert, or a drink. I'll get the dessert next time and a drink. My Mom Birthday is 12/01 and I'm going bring her here. I already know that Mom is going to order a half slab of ribs with the potato logs and a drink. I just visited here with a small group and the bbq was delish! I ordered the baby back ribs and Mac and cheese. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and there were 3 bbq sauces to choose from. My husband got the brisket cheesesteak that was next level to any regular philly cheesesteak! Awesome brisket and a fancy cheese wiz that you could tell is home made. My picky mother in law went with the pulled pork and she ate the whole thing, I was impressed! The tenderness and flavor of each of the meats was perfect! My mouth waters just thinking about it! The service was friendly and they were accommodating to make adjustments for my mother in law which was nice. I can't wait to go back! Deke's used to be one of the best. This was my first time trying their new full service restaurant (the small takeout store on Ridge Ave is gone). First off, everything is a-la-carte. There are no dinners with sides. You can build a dinner by ordering a meat and ordering sides. I decided on the Brisket Cheesesteak ($14) and Seasoned Fries ($3). The brisket had a lot of fat! Not the normal amount all Brisket has, I mean ALOT! It almost felt like they saved the fatty pieces for the brisket cheesesteak, because it would be covered in cheese sauce and bbq - so who would know? Me, I knew. My uncle is a fan of Deke's so with that recommendation I was excited to give them a try. When I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. My fist concern was about parking so I parked on the street and walked over. I was surprised to see the had a very nice size parking lot and really festive outdoor seating which would be great in the warm weather. Inside was packed with people eating and enjoying a game on the large tv's. I was directed to a kiosk to put in a to go order. My food was done pretty quickly. I was looking forward to the brisket the most and it disappointed me terribly. I read some reviews after and agree with the people who said it tasted like it was oven baked. No bbq flavor whatsoever and no smoke ring. It was cut too thick and had a layer of fat on top. Definitely needed more sauce and there was no option for extra sauce on the side that I saw. Somebody out there please tell me where I can get some proper bbq brisket. I also got the baby back ribs. They were tender and had good flavor. I came here the other day with a big group of family. Such a cool spot with plenty of space indoor and outdoor. Fast and great service, clean establishment and great atmosphere. The food I ordered was just okay. Some of the people in my group ordered the brisket sandwich and that seemed like the real winner. Everyone that ordered the brisket sandwich had zero complaints. I ordered the chopped bbq chicken sandwich and I couldn't finish it. Also ordered sides of collard green, bbq baked beans and cornbread. Order the cornbread! Absolutely delicious and on the sweeter side. Greens and beans on the other hand gets a big thumbs down from me. No one in the group wanted to finish them. My friends and I ordered Deke's while we were at Attic Brewing next door. Our food was ready pretty quickly-about 10-15 minutes! The brisket cheesesteak was SO SO good (and I'm not always a huge cheesesteak fan). The bbq flavor plus the gooey cheese was an excellent combo. The fries are great too-nice and crispy wedge cuts! The prices were reasonable for the food and the portions were great sizes. The sandwiches all came with small sides of pickles and coleslaw. Would definitely order from there again! read more

Food Favorites: Chicken Wings, Brisket and Mac & Cheese Shells (for some this may be surprising, it's not your typical elbow noodle southern mac so be open minded trying it) Drinks: Stick with fountain drinks, this is not the place for happy hour or for a powerful drink if you know what I mean. The cocktails are eye catching but in my opinion they often taste like mocktails. TIP: Pass on the alcoholic drinks here and spend up on the sides and meats. Was a huge fan of the original Deke's next to Ugly Moose before it had to close. Saw a couple bad reviews here on yelp from two gentlemen who had an issue with service. Was hoping my experience would be way better than what they described and it was. The food holds true to the original locations as it's some of the best BBQ around. Unfortunately couldn't eat inside because everything was closed but still was able to get amazing take out. Of course had to opt for their ribs which are some of the best along with chicken fingers. This first batch of baked beans was homemade and slightly undercooked (hard beans) but on my next order that was corrected. Slaw was a good accompaniment as well. First time at this location , it has its own parking which is a super plus , kiosk for take out orders is a good idea . Was a lil disappointed that they do not have beef ribs as an option . Brisket cheese steak is good but they cAn keep that cheese sauce , good portion , peach cobbler is disgusting and so is the potato salad , I should have known better , the Mac and cheese noodles are too firm almost undone . I've been really excited to try this spot. I absolutely love BBQ. My wife asked me if BBQ is my favorite food. She's asked this before but I couldn't confirm it since I like so many different types of foods. However, I think I'm ready to agree to it after Deke's. I got the brisket, root beer and cheese wedges. Man was it good. Oh I got extra coleslaw too. That was awesome. It wasn't super sweet like that junk you get at the local grocery store pre-made. For an after hours spot Dekes is a 5 out of 5 hands down. Nice indoor/outdoor seating, tons of windows for great lighting and plenty of happy hour specials. I can see myself coming here many times after work to hang out after a long week. Next the food. I was very torn when reviewing food but I have to keep it real. If I had to rank the food that we had in order I rank them as followed: 1. Cornbread (absolutely delicious, moist and will def recommend) 2. Ribs (the sauce was tasty and the ribs literally fell off of the bone) 3. Chicken (not the best bbq chicken I've had but it was quality tasty and again the sauce was tasty) Significant drop off below.... 4. Fried Mac and Cheese (great idea, but they were cold) 5. This Dekes have ribs that taste like wood, oven roasted brisket without flavor no peaches or crust in the coobler and the worse damn brisket ever and the staff lied there was no bbq sauce. I came to town for a family visit. My brother & sister joined me as we put flowers at my parent's grave site, and went to lunch. My sister volunteered to split the check for lunch, but I wasn't going to let that happen. She suggested Deke's BBQ. The place wasn't fine dining, but we came for good food and good service. The delivered. I knew I would have dinner a few hours later, so I ordered a half rack of ribs instead of a full rack. They were so tender, and moist. I loved it. I was disappointed that I didn't order a full rack. The potato salad was different than what I usually get. It has bigger chunks of potatoes (not bad, but not great). The corn bread was small, but we ordered extra. Them best thing about it was that we came after any lunch rush on a rainy day so we had time for our selves, and we were not crowded out with a bunch of people. A good time was had by all. Deke's is perfectly placed right off of the Jefferson line and shares a building with Attic Brewing. With the option of indoor dining as well as food truck, Deke's does BBQ and does it well. The first time I ordered from here, I was next door at Attic during a "Metal Monday" and got the brisket. It came with a light drizzle of BBQ sauce and a piece of corn bread. While the cornbread was very tasty and the bbq drizzle was good (both not too sweet) I really wanted to taste the brisket and asses flavor on its own. My second order, many weeks later, was the same. I specified not to sauce the brisket and gave the cornbread to the girlfriend-yet I was not disappointed. The brisket was very tender, and I could tell the seasonings were simple. It is very hard to execute and serve brisket, but Deke's does it well. As someone who has smoked their own brisket to (personal) perfection and had top-tier brisket at other restaurant locations across the country, I can safely assure Deke's does it right. read more

This is a little gentrified oasis in the middle of Germantown/Wayne Junction area near the train stop. It's strange to walk up to. The restaurant itself is lovely with wide-open walls/windows and a lively atmosphere. I didn't love it though not just because it's a gentrification station but because it's a little confusing. So it's connected to Attic Brewing which I think only sells beer. But you can buy food at Deke's and sit at Attic, I think. So ordering food was also confusing but maybe it's this way by design. When you arrive, you get to the kiosks where you are expected to order takeout or dine in. Now... the last thing I want to do when I'm hungry is figure some stuff out. I couldn't find the sides. I thought sides would come with the meal. It was too much. So I just ordered a sandwich. The sandwich was good though a little dry but see that's where my confusion lies. Do we ask for more sauce? Are there different sauces? Just confusion. Maybe it's a good idea to just purchase bags of brisket at the kiosk but dine in if you have questions about a meal. Came here for lunch after a hike in Wissahickon park during COVID and a good experience overall. Food truck outside with a few specials for the day and a massive menu to be ordered on a touchpad inside. Big variety of stuff. We had brisket sandwich with potato wedges, fried pickles, cornbread, and a shrimp po-boy. Fried pickles were excellent with a nice dipping sauce. Fresh and crispy! Brisket sandwich was a good helping of food with nice tender meat but quite dry and could have used extra sauce. I imagine they're not leaving lots of sauce outside because of COVID but would have been nice to have more on top. The wedges were freshly made and spiced nicely and cooked well. The cornbread was fine but a smidge soggy and not super standout. Shrimp po-boy was MASSIVE with tomatoes, pickles and sauce on top. It was good but nothing special and quite hard to eat. Everyone was nice. Seating outside was well suited for social distancing. Attic brewing right next door is great. Massive menu but most of the food wasn't necessarily anything super special.
