The waffle was a waffle but the bacon burnt ends were amazing!! So good I would have eaten a plate of just them. The French toast comes four ways with an option of a sample plate of one of each. It's a great way to try them all. There would be no way I could eat a full plate of any of them due to the size of the toast and the richness of the toppings. My favorite was of course was the bacon. The Carmel bacon burger was hands down a mouthful of such flavor that all of the meat eaters at the table couldn't put it down. I have friends who have been telling me great things about Bake n Bacon so I decided to finally stop in this weekend and see for myself. JACKPOT!!!! Bake n Bacon is the absolute TRUTH! Staying locally and stumbled upon this corner gem. The restaurant is a combination of urban chic and comfort food. Graffiti feel with clean, sleek lines and awesome music. Similar to another recent review, I ordered the wagyu burger for $28, waited for oddly over 35 minute with only 1 other table inside (red flag already), to receive a dry, burnt, tasteless beef burger I would have happily enjoyed better at any fast food chain. First off, the service and the food were amazing. This is not what the review is about. My boyfriend and I came in for a quick brunch and didn't want a fancy cocktail, so we each ordered an Irish coffee, a typical and simple brunch staple drink that any place should be able to make easily. It took a while for the drinks to come out and our waitress came back to ask if we wanted it hot or iced. My boyfriend said hot and I said iced. Right before our food came out, they brought the drinks, his in a coffee mug and mine in a martini glass. Not at all what I was expecting, but fine. It tasted like they'd just put Baileys in with coffee. Then, we got the check and they charged us $19 each for it, and said there was Jameson in the coffee, which neither of us could taste. While yes, they serve hella bacon- they do indeed have vegan options! The fact that there's a prominent disclaimer on the menu that they do not remove items from the check, rather they will correct the issue, should've alerted me to dine elsewhere. How is it that your menu offers WAGYU BURGERS, but when I ask the server, What grade Wagyu is used or is it Kobe?" They responds, "I don't know what you mean..." After explaining what Wagyu Beef is to them, where it comes from and the grading scale: "Yield Grade and Meat Quality Grade. The Yield Grade (A, B, or C) indicates the amount of usable meat from the carcass. The Meat Quality Grade, assessed on a scale of 1 to 5, considers factors like marbling..." I asked is it A5 or B2(?)... the server said they'd inquire with the chef. I never received a response. The quality of the burger was BODEGA BEEF at best. At that point, there was no rectifying the issue because as the server informed us when we first arrived 7:30pm, the kitchen was closing at 8pm. Although business hours say until 10pm, I believe. Our orders arrived incorrect but clearly we had no time for the kitchen to rectify the issues, because we could literally hear the kitchen exhaust system (?) shutdown, just after 8pm, as our server informed us. Not often do I leave a restaurant feeling down right angry. But the 20% included gratuity was the cherry on the top. I was BIG MAD. The reviews of this place are accurate. Leaving review during the meal. The server was nice but the manager was rude. I ordered the hanging bacon it came out cold like straight from the fridge. I explained this to the server. Shortly after the manager came over in a scolding manner he explained how fast the food came out. ' I timed the order it was turned around in 4 minutes it's now 25 minutes later". I went to dinner on a Thursday evening with my girlfriends and boy did we stumble upon a gem!! It's a Black owned establishment that did not disappoint!! The ambiance is very calm and the music was fitting for the environment. The place wasn't packed but definitely had a nice crowd. Now, the name is bake n bacon so of course you may assume that there are only bacon options. Nope! Their menu caters to many eating preferences! (Check out the pic of the menu). Our server was Richard who was very attentive, gave us suggestions and made sure that we had a great dining experience. Now, the food! 10/10! Everything was perfectly seasoned and flavorful. Oh, I am just tickled to share my experience at Bake'n Bacon! Now, let me tell you, it's been a minute since I've felt this excited about a new spot, and they did not disappoint. I went with my brother Ryan for brunch this past weekend, and it was everything. The vibe? Imagine the warmth of the old Warmdaddy's, but with that classy, upscale touch like Soul Food Cafe or Ms. Tootsie's. The staff was a full-on 10 out of 10, from the warm welcome at the door to the attentive service at our table--it felt like being around friends, just having a good time. Now, the food--there were so many mouthwatering choices, but we stuck with the SMOKEHOUSE GRITS topped with bacon burnt ends and bacon crumble. Let me tell you... those grits were PERFECT. I don't usually take grits to-go, but I wrapped up those leftovers because I couldn't leave a single bite behind! *contracted open bar, not fully delivered--significant delays in resolution* I hosted a major personal milestone event at Level II venue, Bake n Bacon upstairs rental space in August. CONTRACT & SERVICES: Booked in March with a 25% deposit and 24-hour no-penalty cancellation. The contract included cost for the following: venue space (discounted rate), 2-hour mid-tier open bar, setup time, passed hors d'oeuvres, dinner buffet, and 20% gratuity. In initial discussions the venue indicated that customization was available (menu), and ultimately these things were priced accordingly. After 24 hours, because the contract allowed only additions--not reductions--to the agreed-upon services, any additional requests were mutually agreed upon prior to the event. Therefore, the expectation was that all services agreed upon would be delivered on the day of the event. PROS: Initial interaction with owners for booking. The manager, primary planning point of contact, was great/communicative. The venue was clean and as pictured, and the owners were present to ensure the event started smoothly. While a few hiccups occurred (feedback never shared, overshadowed by con below), for the most part event appeared to proceed as expected. CONS: After the event, multiple guests reported that the bartender said only signature drinks were included in the open bar, and anything else would cost; which was incorrect. I raised this with the venue, early the next morning. During that conversation, the owner stated this was unlikely and suggested the guests may have misunderstood but said they would look into it. For the first two weeks, communication was reciprocal/intentional; after that, I consistently had to reach out for updates, while maintaining patience and understanding. STATUS OF RESOLUTION: While there are many additional details, I have chosen to focus here on the key points. After 17 days, the venue provided its resolution: a refund equal to 14% of the open bar cost and reimbursement for affected guests. The first refund took two months and still required my follow-up. Nearly four months later, there has been no confirmation from the venue that they have completed the second action as promised(e.g., quantitative reporting of 0,1 or more persons refunded) despite my follow up and at this stage owners are unresponsive. Therefore this is still pending. I am disappointed, I was patient throughout the process, but the venue did not meet agreed-upon commitments. The error was not on my end, it was theirs. Mistakes happen, that's business. Professionalism is best demonstrated by how you reconcile issues and treat people. read more

Horrible customer service. We were sat down and said the waitress would be with us soon. This took about 30 minutes. She explained she was short staffed. Not her fault, but not a great start. The hostess and waitress were fine with one of my friends bringing an emotional support dog into the restaurant, but then one of the servers told her she had to leave. As my friends packed up all and headed out, the waitress came back and said it was fine that they stay. At that point, they were done after the server was making a scene, so they just left. We should have left with them. None of our food arrived at the same time and they brought out the wrong food for two people. (We were a table of 5.) On top of all of this, the gratuity is fixed no matter how large your party is. I was going to tip relative to the service (bad service is 10-15% IMO). No wonder their service SUCKS. They don't have to do anything to earn your tip. Absolutely will never come to this restaurant again. Philly has way better restaurants in E Passyunk. We ordered the hangin bacon with Thai chili sauce ( pieces of cornbread was under each piece of bacon and the cornbread caught the drippings of Thai chili sauce from the bacon). Finally made it to Bake'n Bacon... A friend had been raving about this spot. I wanted some cornbread and she said let's go so we went. Upon entry one of the servers and Justin of the owners greeted me at the door. I ate at the bar with my friend who was waiting. The bbq sauce was perfect combination of sweet and light heat. The shrimp and bbq was cooked to perfection and I don't know what they did to the broccoli but it was perfectly cooked with the right amount of garlic and butter.
