My overall sentiments over the last 4 years here can be summed up as: 2018 - "I love living here!" 2019 - "Still great, I don't mind the bump in rent" 2020 - "Some familiar faces disappeared, and yikes with the rent, but still worth" 2021 - "Had some uncomfortable incidents, but I'll give it one more shot" 2022 - "I absolutely regret renewing my lease, get me out of here" Starting 2021, I suddenly started having more experiences with rude and inconsiderate neighbors that made living very uncomfortable (loud noise and music late night/early morning, aggressive domestic arguing, leaving trash outside). Please note, I never had a single bad neighbor experience from 2018 - 2020. In the worst instance, I had the police mistakenly come to my door due to a suspected domestic violence (the noise was actually from my neighbor). I feel very bad for the families here. I've seen a few of them on my floor only stay a few months, thinking that this is family-friendly place (it is not). I am willing to update this review, but I believe this is a fair summary of my overall feelings right now. (FYI I'm on the 10th floor) read more

The renovation of this building, insofar as it has been completed, is really well done. The apartments are nice for their style (modern and smallish), and the design choices are really clean and beautiful. But I give the building only 1 star because the building management is terrible. Just the worst ever. They are unresponsive, then condescending, then dismissive, in turn. They seemingly spend a lot of time trying to regulate residents' innocent behavior, but very little time doing the things that you expect of building management-- addressing noise complaints, the always pervasive smell of weed in the elevator shaft and air ducts, and cleanliness of common areas. Or getting things done (like parking) when they say that they are going to get things done. Knowing what I know now, I'd opt for a slightly less attractive apartment with drastically more competent management, any day. I only wish that someone would have clued me in before it was too late. (* Though I won't harp on this, I will say in response to the below that *no one* ever came into my apartment to check the noise level, even though I extended an open invitation to maintenance to do so. Yelp readers, I'm sure, are savvy enough to see that two people, who have no reviews and no friends, gave 5 star reviews after my honest review. I had a wonderful experience living in Del Prado! The staffs were great and friendly, always ready to help. Maintenance is fast to solve any problems I had in my unit and the location is awesome - near Lake Michigan, parks and public tennis court right across the street. The only issue is that the walls are a bit thin, so it can be a little noisy. However, front desk always solved my problem when the noise was too loud during quiet hours. read more

It is not safe to live here. Beautiful on the outside, ugly on the inside. Del Prado is a great looking building - externally and in the lobby, the management company does a great job. The front desk and maintenance staff are amazing. The commercial businesses in the lobby are all wonderful with fantastic owners. I highly encourage folks to patronize these businesses. However, beyond that, Del Prado is a scary and impractical place to live. The issues are many: known drug traffic in the building, known violent offenders in the building, multiple incidents of violence on the residential floors and the lobby resulting in police activity frequently, commercial businesses on residential floors creating random street foot-traffic on residential floors and issues with power regulation in summer months - resulting in hours without power. The management company also rents our vacant apartments as hotel space so your neighbor for the week can be any random person with a credit card. So much for a secure building where residents are background screened and access is limited - ha! This may account for the rise in crime in the building as well. After two years in this building, I am maxed out on all the drama and, frankly, risk associated with living in this building. Don't let the appearance and location trick you- it's the lipstick on the pig. It is not safe living here! If you don't mind the cops making regular visits to your neighbors, this is the place for you! Management is aware of the concerns and insists on doing nothing. read more

Yesterday, a tenant on 6th floor dragged bed bug infested mattress down the hall over to the elevator and left it there. Looked like a scene from the movie Roaches. Other trash and random debris lines the floor hallways, often bad odors, heavy smokers (cigarette), etc. Don't let exterior building aesthetic fool you. read more

If you live on floors 5 and below, expect mold in the near future. Mgmt. knows about the leakage on those floors but has done nothing about it. Many emails to prove that point. I was moved into an apt. that had leakage; the resident before me was moved out to another building due to their complaints. I was moved in right after. When I told the resident coordinator about my new move, they replied, "you moved where... But that apt. leaks" "I can't believe they moved someone into a leaking apt." This is what mgmt does and how much they care about tenants. I returned home from a two-week vacation to mold I had to clean - they would not respond to my requests for cleaning. Again, emails to prove that point as well. If you move here, avoid those floors. You can't, however, avoid no onsite maintenance or management. Good luck. read more

I had high expectations of DelPrado because of it being listed as a luxury apt complex and dog friendly . I moved in July 1. The apt complex is not dog friendly. All dog owners have to take freight elevator to go o the lobby. You also cannot take your dog into the laundry or exercise room either. The freight elevator is unpredictable and is slow. Many people have dogs in DelPrado but there are significant amount of residents and visitors that don't want your dog near them, and God forbid your dog tries to smell them. The neighborhood is nice, There are 2 nice parks. I'm not original from Chicago. Just know if you are not a native of Chicago - Hyde PArk, if you walk your dog be careful that your dog doesn't sniff other dogs or touch other people. People in Hyde Park get very upset. Most of the front desk workers are kind, professional and have excellent customer service. Stephen the maintenance professional is Excellent and goes beyond the call of duty. read more

We've been in our apartment for almost 6 months now and are still very pleased. The management has come through with many of their promised items (parking, fitness center, etc.), while some items are still in the works (change machine in the laundry area and bike racks in the bike storage room). We opted to pass on the parking as it was priced to high for our taste ($150/mon for residents) AND a block away AND uncovered. Street parking is a challenge, but that's Hyde Park for ya! I do have two major complaints. . . One being the paper-thin walls. Even after some sound proofing between our neighbors unit and ours, we can still hear her cough and laugh. I hear the upstairs neighbor every morning slamming cupboard doors, banging pots, and shuffling around in the kitchen. (I thought there was concrete separating the floors. . . but I guess not). Second complaint. . . for as much as the apartments rent per month, I question the screening process. My husband and I went through an approval process that was much like applying to the CIA but yet many of my neighbors appear to have questionable "occupations". There is a smell of weed that randomly permeates the elevators, hallways, and sometimes drifts through the vents in the bathroom. The lounge in the basement is constantly occupied by the same people (not seeming to have cable in their own units). . . and who stole the laundry carts?!?! Despite my complaints, we are generally happy. The staff have been nothing but responsive to us and I appreciate being acknowledged by name and not apartment number. Our visitors are always impressed with the lobby, the spaciousness of our unit, and always seem to get better parking than we do. I would still recommend the Del Prado and MAC to anyone looking to rent in the Hyde Park area. read more

Building is nice. Location is convenient. Maintenance and front desk are professional. The down side is that the walls are paper thin. If you have a neighbor that likes to play music loudly (like the one I have) you can hear it very clearly! Not muffled but crystal clear as if you're in the same room. The heating system is old so the electric bill has been high. Your experience will only be as good as the neighbor you end up next door to. read more

About Del Prado Apartments. We moved in only less than 2 weeks ago, so I feel it's a bit premature for me to provide a realistic review of the apartments at this point. However, it's fair to say how I feel about the initial process of moving in, first impressions, and give credit to the people who have helped us during this time. About the management people I just have to say: EFFICIENT and excellent interpersonal skills. Specifically, Jessica who helped us with the initial steps of signing our lease and provided the information we needed, with the greatest smile. Very welcoming. Also, I have to praise the friendliness and positive attitude of Nathan, at our front desk, very polite an helpful. At first glance, the units are fantastic. I said to myself, "I don't need to look any further". The finish is modern, fresh, bright and clean. If you are into decorating and giving it your own style, a big plus is that you are allowed to customize the wall colors and drill holes in the wall if needed. The kitchen feels spacious, and we have plenty of counter space. The lighting and electrical outlet locations are great everywhere. Might sound silly, but they are right where you need them. One thing I have to mention is that the use of space is very well done. From good size closets in the hallway to the small medicine cabinet smartly hidden behind the side mirror in the bathroom. We have all the storage space we need. As far as temperature regulation, we still haven't experienced the winter, so I can't comment on the heat (although I just found out it's electrical, so we'll see). However, as it is summer, so far our unit stays fresh, and we can always open a window for a little extra air. I do hate how the AC unit looks in the window, but we put up curtains so no big deal. Normally I never hear anything that goes on outside my unit. Some loud neighbors every now and then, but that's everywhere. Not bad so far. Security is great. I love the area, but the building itself is super safe. We don't pay for the building parking as I am perfectly happy with the public parking around the building and by the park. Always plenty of it. Let me not forget we have pets, so in case you want to know, the carpet in the units is cat friendly and super easy to vacuum. We also have bikes, and there is a great bike room available. The gym is simple, and it could use some extra dumbbells (beyond 50 lbs), but it's sufficient for a full work out. We do have nice lounge areas and the convenience of being able to host parties. Laundry room is great, good machines, we just really need that coin machine. I do love the information bulletin with local events they post in the elevator. So there you go. I'll review again in a few months when it's cold! :) read more

The building isn't as clean as it was under the previous management. The elevators are always filthy. Also, why is it cool in the lobby, but once you arrive on the residential floors, it's a sweltering 80 degrees? O_O If we walk too fast going to or from the elevator, we'll break into a sweat. There are two women who work at our front desk, Veronica and Angletha, who are extremely unfriendly and rude. There are times when they sit at the desk and put out the sign that they are "on lunch" (even at 8 pm) and refuse to answer any questions or even press a button to let guests go up the elevator. Too often they can be very rude and extremely unhelpful. I don't think that this is ok, especially when considering the fact that this is a luxury apartment building and the rent is not cheap. In the last few months I have tried to be nothing but nice, but when I am forced to leave my apartment when I'm not feeling well and go all the way downstairs so that my friend can get into the elevator when all that Angletha has to do is press a button, I think that to be completely unacceptable. All of the other people who work at the front desk however are very kind and helpful, especially the staff that has been hired recently. Del Prado also needs to expand their mail room. The fact that they will send back packages over 35 lbs is absolutely ridiculous. Other than the concierge service and the mailroom, the building is great and the apartments are beautiful. But I think it is vital that they improve their front desk service. read more

I got a chance to see the gym, The Space, which is a private gym at the Del Prado Apartments. I absolutely love the gym. I love crossfit style workouts, so this was like a playground for me. I was there on Sunday morning for Fit Camp. The staff at the apartment complex was friendly, the place was clean, and everything was organized. I'm a personal trainer, and I know a good gym when I see it. This gym is excellent. read more

I have lived in Del Prado going on 3 years now, and love it! The very few requests and minor issues that I have had, all were resolved immediately! Service repairs are always handled promptly, and properly! The one star less is for windows not being cleaned often, and I would love to have a change machine in the laundry room or convert the machines to laundry card use. Recently moved in here. Wonderful building, friendly people at the front desk, beautiful rooms, nice gym, etc. I love most aspects of it. However, I just found out that the building does not have recycling on the premises. The fact that I pay ~$1900 for a room in a building that doesn't have recycling is an embarrassment. Every apartment I've ever previously rented (which I will note, weren't nearly as nice and cost half as much) all had recycling available. Pretty pathetic effort on behalf of MAC. read more

My family and I were completely ready to give our leasing agent a glowing review, until she executed the closest thing to a bait and switch that remains within the law. We were a walk-in appointment looking for studio and one bedroom apartments. The leasing agent was very nice and friendly, and explained that there was one one bedroom available within my price range. We all went up to the apartment which was beautiful and clean, with a great view, updates, etc. There were some strange decorations on the counter, which upon noticing we asked if this was a model unit, and she told us that no, this was the unit I would be renting at the price within my budget. She even took the time to take us over to another building within the management company and show me several other apartments within my price range. It was a wonderful experience and I was fully prepared to sign then and there for the one bedroom I was shown. I sat in her office for over 20 minutes filling out an application, and was all ready to give her my credit card information when she "suddenly realized" that the apartment she had shown me was actually $85 more per month than she had originally stated. She then took me up to the apartment that was still within my budget which had a building view, was significantly smaller, smellier, and overall a complete let down. I want to believe that she made an honest mistake, but after looking over the folder she had given me, she was careful enough to have included two floor plans and put the "correct" price on both of the apartments she had shown me. It just somehow took her right up until I was ready to pay that she noticed her "mistake". Something about that just doesn't add up. Unfortunately, I think she was banking on the fact that I was only in town for a few days, we were exhausted from our search, and we were so close to the end of the application that I would just settle for the more expensive apartment. Lucky for us, we were not that desperate and not willing to work with someone who clearly was trying to get extra money out of us for no reason. She went in her office to call her regional director, who offered me a two-year lease on the more expensive apartment for a $5 per month discount, which we declined. As we left we got a half-hearted apology that again, I really wanted to believe. I don't know anything about this building other than what I experienced on that afternoon, and like I said, everything she did was within the law because she was either careful or careless enough to have everything written down properly with a different verbal discussion. I am only writing this review to advise others to carefully check the details and be sure they are looking at the unit they will be renting and to cross-check the price on the floor plans, etc. I want to save future applicants the time and effort up front. read more

Overall my experience with Del Prado was nothing less than amazing for lack of a better word. I was first greeted to the property by Cathy who leased me my apartment. I am not originally from the Chicago area and she worked with me in making my transition easy and not stressful. The building is very clean, modern, friendly, diverse and safe. Each employee that serves this property is truly there to ease your living experience. I have never missed a flight with the help of Kara wake up calls. All of my maintenance requests were honored within 24 hours and verified through Destiny. Although, I have recently relocated to other Mac Property LaJaunese aided me through the entire process. To my very last day of being a resident of this community Nathan and Jessica provided me with great resources and accommodations. Referencing, John Maxwell "A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way." it's very evident that all the employees are there to serve a great purpose under Mike's leadership. Growth: Del Prado has made efforts to improving the elevator services. In the past six months I don't recall the elevators being out of service. I did get stuck in the elevator during the winter months. I didn't call the building perfect but it has improved in this area. Cons: Parking, Parking, Parking that's a Hyde Park issue. I would agree during the winter the air does come through the window. In addition, the rent is a bit high but affordable. Opportunity of Growth: A monthly newsletter highlighting what happening in the community and in building would be great. More options available for parking. I would recommend this apartment community to anyone in search for apartment in Hyde Park without reservation. read more

Living here for a year has been nice. Aesthetically pleasing and quiet. Definitely a nice stress relief to have come home to a well kept, friendly, big, and open space. HOWEVER...their management here needs to get it together. Just becoming more "tech savvy" would be nice. They post letters to your door knobs instead of emailing you. Or putting it in your mailbox. ALSO, there were several occasions when "their system" charged us wrong amounts. (3 times). They are or have been slow at responding and wouldn't let us know if they had received our emails. They need more system organization. Again..we would have been charged extra if we had not been proactive to notice the change. 2.5 stars is what this place really deserves. read more

I've been contemplating on writing this but I really have to bring this to someone's attention. I love LOVE Ms. Veronica along with the maintenance men. When I'm leaving for work, she is always so friendly. She is always greeting me with a smile and good morning. When my mail was missing, she went over and beyond to help me get that situation straightened out. The lady that comes after her is ok, but a few times I came back from work, and she's at the desk REFUSING to do any work because "she's on break." (Hence, why Del Prado needs a break room. Now, to the real problem: THE NIGHT SHIFT!! The lady at the desk is so loud!! When I leave The Space, she is always so loud along with two residents in the building. They sometimes use profanity and I don't know if they think that they are outside, but so many residents have been talking about them! I really need to see what email address I should send this complaint to. And also, the girl that she talks to, is always around being so loud every time she is downstairs. I hope this review is viewed from someone who can bring this to someone's attention!!! It is ridiculous!! read more

I lived in the Del Prado for 14 months, and overall it was a great place to live. The location is great! Right next to the park, lake, and bus stop. The new coffee shop on the ground floor is very nice as well. The furnishings in the apartment were modern and of a high quality, maintenance was very responsive, and the building always felt safe and welcoming. However, there were a few minor drawbacks. The walls were very thin, I could always hear my neighbor on the phone. The window A/C did not cool the apartment evenly, and management was not always consistent with following up with me when/how they said they would. In short, I would recommend the Del Prado to anyone looking to live in a nice area of Hyde Park. read more

Beautiful Apts, a little pricey for the size, small but just right for me. The largest 2 bedroom doesn't have an A/C unit which is totally weird, terrible design flaw. Parking isn't too bad as long as you get home by 7pm otherwise, you'll be driving around. The management, maintenance staff, & resident coordinators are wonderful, absolutely great. I'm going to miss that when I move. The A/C units bleed air from the outside. This means that in winter, you either spend a lot on the electric heat, or deal with cold air. I used packing tape, and anything else to tape both A/C units up. The cold air blowing is unacceptable. I had maintenance fix, but the apartment still feels drafty. There's no thermostat to control the heating electrical units. My electric has been nearly $150 in cold months, bcz there's no control over the heat and drafty A/C units. read more

I'm leaving town after living here for four years, so I have plenty of opinions on this place. Here's the tl;dr - day-to-day management of the building is excellent (that bit 5 stars), but the medium term stuff that need input from mac management is poor (2 stars). The basics of the building are all very sound - location is convenient for UofC campus and downtown, units are well-equipped, the lobby is beautiful etc. But you know that from doing some basic research. Here's what I can tell you as an insider. The building staff are great. And so the things that depend on them are excellent. The maintenance crew - Mark, Stephen and the others - are the best of anywhere I have ever lived. In some places maintenance will come and say they've fixed a problem, but not really deal with it (Regent's Park, I'm giving you side-eye here) so you end up not calling them and living with broken stuff all the time. Here's one example: we had a shelf in a cabinet that was slipping from its anchors because it bent due to the weight of the things on it. I was expecting maintenance to come and replace the shelf. They did that, but also added some extra supports to stop it from happening again. It's a small thing, but I think showed me how they do the right job rather than the easiest job. Mac management (if you read this), these guys earn you serious money every year by keeping residents happy and meaning that they renew year after year. We thought about moving one once or twice but the really high standard of maintenance genuinely made us think twice and was part of why we ended up staying. Whatever you're paying them, they'd be worth double. The front desk staff are also very good. A few years ago there were some problems with people not being there or not buzzing up deliveries etc. But that is totally fixed. And Angeletha is great about making sure that people collect packages so that the (fairly small) post room doesn't fill up. She has something of a stern mother act going on - you don't like being told you need to collect your packages, but you realize that it is for everyone's benefit! The down side of this place is that whoever is one level above the building staff is asleep on the job. For example: The gym is falling apart and has been for years. The weights bench is totally broken, and plastic parts and old treadmills from the cardio equipment are just lying around on the floor. The bike room is also a disaster. It is totally full, and there is no registration system, so people move out and leave their bikes in there. Half of the bikes in there are rusting and have flat tires - I assume that they largely belong to former residents. And the laundry is still coin-op. I wash my clothes by going to the bank to get metal tokens to put in the washing machine and then a man comes and collects those tokens and takes them back to another bank. How can this still be a thing is 2016!? The elevators are also pretty unreliable, although they've got better. I've called mac management about all these issues repeatedly. Not only do they do nothing, they always tell me that they're on it, which is really galling. We were first told that they were installing a card system in the laundry when we came to look round in 2012! read more

Nothing really against the Del Prado. But a word of advice, whatever you do, do not rent a park view apartment! The warm months are terrible for anyone who has to deal with the loud, inconsiderate and rude activities right outside your window. And if you have your window open you might as well be in the Park. The 53rd street exit is the port of Hyde Park so you have an abundant number of neighborhood invaders converging on the neighborhood just to hang out. The people who actually live around the park are quiet. The park is suppose to close at 11pm. HA!!! So if you have to stay at the Del Prado take the South view!! You will thank me!!!! read more

i was quiet impressed with the modern upgrades in the units. as for most place in hyde park that is not the case. in terms of living space it really nice. HOWEVER it is the worse managed company I've ever had to deal with. i can't wait for my lease to be over so i no longer stay with mac properties. they promise one thing and do the opposite. their employees are not well trained therefore they just try to sign people up for lease because of commission reasons. DO NOT listen to what you leasing agent tells u in terms of your agreement in the lease. i had so many friends that i had to refer to other management companies to rent out. and currently there are 10 of my friends that are with mac properties with same issues. therefore they will not be renewing their leases as well. The treadmills are so old that they give off so much energy the treadmills will actually shock you if you touch any part of it. so many people in the building have complained about it but they still will not replace them. i thought it would be nice to work out in the building but obviously the shocking is NOT fun. over all don't be fooled by the looks. mac properties buildings are nice but the management SUCKS. DO NOT work with Kayla, she is unaware of the policies and only cares about her commission !!!! read more

First I have to say that there are a few really great, customer oriented people working the front desk. The two people that do late night coverage are awesome, know everyone by name and are always cheerful and helpful. And there is a new guy on mid-day that is also great. But the evening coverage is horrible, that is on the occasions when there is coverage. Once again at the time most people arrive home from work the front desk is not covered and I am unable to get my packages. And once again I was told that even though the package has already been marked with my apartment number and the vendor and UPS have confirmed delivery I'm not "allowed" to have it because they have to go through their "process". The book to sign for the package is in plain sight, as is the box, but it is outside of "policy" to actually write my name in the book, hand me my box and let me sign for it. I'm supposed to wait until after 8 pm and make a special trip back down to get it. CRAZY - it's my box, I paid for it and I pay premium rent to live in this place. With supposed 24/7 coverage I ought to be able to pick up my package anytime, but certainly at the very reasonable hour of 6 pm I've noticed that the front desk has frequently not been covered recently in the early evening. It's really bad when the vendor and UPS both notify you that your package has been delivered and you still can't have it! I can't take my bike out of storage because they overcommitted the bike spaces in the storage room so if I take it out for a ride and come back there might not be any more room for it and I'll have to haul it up to my apartment. That actually happened to another tenant I talked to. And I have to keep track of an extra key fob for the bike storage because apparently there is a limit on the number of doors that they can assign to one fob. The bike storage puts me over that number so I have to have 2 fobs. Goofy! They called me this week (but called me by my daughter's name) to find out if I was renewing my lease on the apartment I moved out of 6 months ago. The daughter's name thing is interesting - it took many months to get them to stop calling her instead of me whenever they needed to notify me about something. My daughter is in the military so, while this is her official home address, she has only spent a week here in the almost 2 years I've lived in the building. Every time they called her I would make a trip to the office and tell them they needed to change their records and call my number and not hers. And every time they would type away on the computer and say it was taken care of. When I moved to a larger apartment they lost track of my parking space. So I came home from a long trip late one night and there was another car in my space. Again it took several days to get this straightened out, because they had assigned someone else to my space. They did get me my old space back but it was another example of the poor job they have been doing keeping track of tenant information. See the other comments about the frigid air coming in around the air conditioners all winter. I built my own insulating box to go over the flimsy cloth covers that were provided and even with that the cold air blasts in. Then there is the laundry room. Not enough machines and they break down frequently. People leave their clothes in the machines for hours and I finally got so tired of not being able to do my laundry all at once that I started sending it out. read more

I come visit my girlfriend who lives there I'm always greeted respectfully by either Patricia or Cara/Kara. They always give me advice on parking or eaterys. However last night my girlfriend had forgot her fob and we were not able to access the lounge. We waited patiently for the staff member working the desk to return. 15 minutes turned into 30 and those turned into an hour we were not awaiting alone 3 other gentleman also were locked out and waited 15 mins calling the emergency line. My need wasn't an emergency so we didn't call it just waited patiently. After 1.5 hours the guy called and was told the desk attendant would return in 10 mins.10 mins later a woman along with 2 children arrived. She would not allow my girlfriend who lives there access because she didn't recognize her. We found out the lady's name was Longanese or something. My girlfriend was again harassed tonight from the same woman. Her and her sister have got to the point of ending their lease because of this woman. read more

Visited my friend here. Very nice building but entire floor smelled like weed and cigarette smoke. Fortunately his lease is up soon. How appalling I can't believe their management would allow this. read more

I felt compelled to write an email to the owners on Mac Properties to express my profound dissatisfaction with Del Prado Apartments ( I am waiting on their response). I have been a resident for nearly 2 years and have experienced quite a few unfortunate changes, things that attracted me to become a resident, are no longer. I have not complained, once. However, I've reached my end. Mac Properties decided to convert one of their commercial floors into rental space, which is understandable. But what is not acceptable is them posting a sign which basically states " sorry your inconvenience, but we will be performing construction for the next 4 months..." Without providing their current tenants an option to be released from their lease or to be moved without penalty (They've gone over their projected end date). I was told, by management that basically that there are NO OPTIONS other than for me to suffer through or pay them for breaking my lease, or pay them a penalty to be transferred to another property! I work nights, many nights overtime, my only sleeping opportunity is during the day! And every morning Monday-Friday, I am awaken by the profound sounds. I work most Saturdays & Sundays, my days off often fall during weekdays, so the days I do get off from work, I am still awaken at 8AM by the loud construction work. Instead of offering a reasonable solution, they want me to pay the price. All I am asking for is to be able to have a good day's rest in a apartment in which I pay for, and they are telling me it is not an option. Had they disclosed with me BEFORE signing my lease that they were going to go through a major construction project, I would have selected a different floor or a different Mac Property Building altogether. I am not asking for much, just to be able to sleep in my apartment or to release me from my lease without penalty for something that is NOT my fault. I understand that because they do not live here, it doesn't affect them... but at least respect the tenants you currently have. On a positive note...It is a beautiful building and the building staff are absolutely fantastic! read more

My husband and I have lived here for a little over a month now. We are very pleased. Move-in was smooth, the staff are very friendly, the closets are huge and have great shelving, and I love having a building with a concierge. Online rent payment was easy and the building seems very pet friendly. My dogs tend to bark at strangers, and no one seems offended. The common areas are very clean and well maintained. We haven't had any maintenance needs yet, so I can't speak to that aspect of things. But, so far, we couldn't be happier. read more

So, I want to first start by saying I don't live in this building. However, I had the privilege of viewing a few apartments in the Del Prado, as I was in search for a new place when my lease expires soon. By far, this was the most luxurious location that I viewed in Hyde Park. The hallways are grand-in-scale to say the least. Kitchen appliances were new in all the units as well as carpeting and paint. My only complaint, and reason why I went with another location, was the price to square footage ratio. The units are luxurious, but expensive. I wouldn't mid shelling out $1,300 for all the amenities you could ask for, but the apartments are so tiny. If you don't need a ot of space, and looking to reside in Hyde Park, then this location is for you. read more

Currently staying in this apartment.No issues till now.We figured out insulation issue at beginning but rental office fixed it.Kathy from Rental office is so friendly with me & my husband.Apartment Model's are smaller for the rental cost.But Amenities are good.No space for Bike parking when we joined,hope they are providing extra space as many ppl are in waiting list.Storage space in ground floor costs extra.Good place to live here. read more

I tried viewing these apartments but it seems Del Prado and its leasing agents are booked to capacity or simply doesn't care to show the apartments to potential residents. I called them on 11/19/14 to see if I could stop in for a quick showing but no one answered the line. On my way back from a meeting, I dropped in and was told by the woman at the security desk no one was in the office that day. Why? Is this normal? "No, they're just not in today." She tried calling Mac Apartments to speak with a leasing agent and she couldn't even get in touch with her own coworkers. So I left. Time wasted. I tried calling them again and still no answer. I dropped them an email via their site and Kayla emailed me back with a generic email. I responded to her email but surprise surprise...still no response. If this is how things are before I even get to see an apartment, I can only imagine how it would be if I signed a lease. With all these red flags, I'll look elsewhere. I'll take my money downtown. read more
