Once we got our food, it was pretty good but therein lies the problem, it took 20 minutes to get a beef and bean burrito and a taco bowl. Overall, I felt the food was just okay. I know they are a popular fast food joint from California, but I feel there are better options out there. The taco meat felt like it was lacking seasoning, and it had too much cheese. The guacamole was yummy, made the foods taste more fresh. The fish taco and crispy chicken taco were my favorite. This has become my go-to for lunch at work. The fresh grated cheese is always great, my personal favorite are the chipotle chicken rollers. The del taco is also always great and very hefty as far as tacos go. I've ordered several times and the food has been good just about every time. Del Taco has also become my husband's favorite fast food place, he is from Texas and has missed his hometown favorite Taco Casa, and he's told me that Del Taco is the closest thing to recapturing that. read more

My husband and I went to this new location to see if it was worth the hype; unfortunately, we were both disappointed. We waited 40 minutes in the drive-thru line, but we expected to wait long since it's still new to the area. I'm sure it would have been a shorter wait if we went inside. However, for those looking to dine inside, make sure you don't park directly in front of the building because you'll be stuck due to the long drive-thru lines. I ordered 3 Tacos del Carbon guac'd up. The flavors were not bad, but I was extremely disappointed that every one of the tacos' corn tortillas had ripped. It made it difficult and messy to eat. My husband got the chicken stuffed quesadilla taco combo and it was also really disappointing. It was soggy and he couldn't even get through more than half of the first taco. The fries were also bland and soggy. I've seen other people had good experiences, so maybe this is just growing pains since this is a new location. I went to the del taco on virginia beach boulevard. As much as it pains me to say, I would rather have a taco bell taco. I ordered jalapenos on my taco and there were more peppers than steak, they didn't bother to drain the peppers or whatever else.They put on the taco before placing them on the taco.Because it made the tacos slimy. Went today around 2:30. It was decent. But all the workers behind the counter were loud and arguing. You can see right behind the line. As the cooking setup is right behind the check out counter. I've never even heard of Del Taco until now. On our way home from vacation, we stopped here on a Wednesday early evening. They were busy but not too bad. Between the three of us, we ordered: chicken quesadilla combo, grilled chicken burrito, snack hard taco, snack queso nachos, and caramel cheesecake bites. I was super impressed with this place. The snack menu is what made me happy. The queso chips were delish. The taco was a perfect snack size. The caramel cheesecake bites were amazing. Their fries are pretty good too. I ordered carne asada fries and a cheeseburger. Both were cold and the fries seem like they were cooked an hour ago. They were 6.29 and on the website it looked like it would be a generous portion like nachos. They came in a cardboard container the size a burger would fit in. Wanted to try it, hoping for a decent fish taco like we got when on the west coast(San Diego). Paid roughly $24 for two fish taco meals (2 tacos, 1 fry, 1 drink each). The fish taco was really small, especially the fish "stick", about the size of my index finger. It also had a weird over fishy taste to it and the slaw/tomatoes on it tasted old. I feel like I am missing something. The hype around this place was amazing when it first came to the area. I don't like trying places when they first open. I like to give them time to work any kinks out and for crowds to die down. So I finally went. Oh boy. Do they have a company policy that forbids flavor from being included in their food? And the consistency of the meats I tried, ground beef, carne asada and grilled chicken were all strange and mushy. The ground beef had almost a paste type consistency. I guess the closest to ok I had was the grilled chicken taco. The Tostada I tried was bland as everything else and the tortilla itself seemed old and dried out. Overall just a very poor experience and I certainly wouldn't be back. If I want fast food Mexican I am crossing the border even if it may not be as pseudo "healthy" or "fresh". I ordered the chicken salad which I almost thought it would been like chicken taco salad no, it wasn't. My wife ordered the nachos with chicken and also ordered two tacos and a steak quesadilla Now the chicken salad that was nasty. I had to put ranch dressing on it to try to make it taste better and that failed The steak quesadilla the steak had no flavoring.
