Norfolk isn't known as a foodie destination, but based on this first restaurant, the food here is pretty good and worth a visit. My friend who lives in Norfolk recommended it, and it's in a lively commercial spot near where we stayed. Parking was easy in the lot, and even with no reservation, 6 people walking in on a Friday night, we got seated right away. There's a handwritten note on the menu saying chips and salsa is one complimentary basket per table, and since we split into two tables, we ended up with two, which worked out nicely. Good queso to me comes down to viscosity. The thinner it runs, the better, gloppy queso is no bueno. This one ran right off the chip like water, which is exactly what I want. We ordered it to share and demolished it within a few minutes. Most of my group ordered tacos, which come in a single meat type, three to an order. Everyone ordered a different meat type and then traded so each person ended up with one of each kind, a fun way to try more of the menu. The fish tacos were a highlight for them. I was the only one who went a different direction, getting the chicken fajitas, which I split with a friend since the portion was huge, sizzling hot, loaded with chicken, peppers, and onions. My one gripe is they only gave us three tortillas for that much meat, so the tortilla to filling ratio was off. We left extremely full, and pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the food was ($30-40 a person, even with each person having a drink). Service was fast and friendly the whole night, and paying at the end was quick too. Drink-wise, the Trash Can looked very intriguing with almost 5 different liquor options, but I ultimately played it safe with a Paloma. Two friends got margaritas, one of which came practically the size of my friend's head, others had beers. My only real complaint is the drinks run sweet. I thought the Paloma would be the least sweet option, but it was still quite sweet for my taste. The margarita friends also said their margaritas were oversalted, like the salt fell in instead of staying on the rim. Small gripes aside, this was a great spot and I'd absolutely go back next time I'm in Norfolk.

Second, Diego, Abner, and Jaquelin are always extremely attentive and just as nice as can be. I've watched them work with other tables and service to everyone (not just me) is top notch, friendly, and for such a small staff that makes a huge difference - it makes you feel welcome, and being the place is somewhat small (smaller than the other places in town) it makes for a much cozier "like family" atmosphere. Third, it is your typical Americanized Mexican restaurant with a lot of the same dishes and you know, you like what you like and what you get used to. I like the sauce served with tacos at La Parilla better. I like the Mexican Street Corn and Fried Plantains at Plaza Azteca (which neither other place has). I like "Los Tres" (3 types of Guacamole) at Guads. Their Mole Poblano is my favorite. Their Enchiladas Rancheras has cubed pork where I'm used to shredded - but it was extremely tasty pork cubes nonetheless. The Poblano appetizer is a Poblano people stuffed with Shrimp. The Brioche are skewers like "shish kebabs" with whichever meats you decide and is quite nice for something a little different. Their red and white sauces are "different" than the other places - I like their red sauce best, I think Plaza Azteca had the better white sauce - but they're all slightly different and I'll take any of them any day of the week. My family loves their Chile Rellenos - which are NOT battered which is kind of unusual TMK, but they are actually quite good like that and a nice variation - especially if you want to cut down on some fried stuff and carbs. They do do Taco Tuesday and it gets super busy, and the Tacos are "very basic" but I mean, TBH I always feel guilty when I get my bill because it's so low and even a single taco has enough in it for a - well, the prices have gone up with what's happening in the world - so they were 1.00, then 1.50, I think they might be 2.00. But heck the other places are like "no we don't do Taco Tuesday, don't ask". But I like their meals enough that even if I'm there on a Tuesday I'll still order a meal a lot of times. My favorite is probably the Taquitos Mexicanos with is 2 Taquitos - but they're two tortillas each so longer and thicker than typical - those are set on a bed of refried beans (enough to hold them in place) and topped with sliced avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, jalepenos, pickled red onion IIRC, and crumbled cheese, with some chipotle drizzle or something IIRC - very nice presentation. The Chimichangas are like tortillas made into little pouches with the brisket inside of them - amazingly good and again, an attention to the appearance of the food rather than just a plate of rice, beans, sauce, and enchilada like so many dishes (they do those too though I you're looking for that). Just a lot of the stuff is nicely presented - got Texano dip the other day and it had two "wings" on it - a fried flower tortilla cut in half that had the edges cut with triangular points like sun rays - very nice for something you'd just expect a bowl of cheese dip. We've had nothing bad there - some things weren't as good for me, or for my family at other places (and we all like different things at the different places) but I've had nothing I'd say was downright bad. Some things are kind of "plain" or "basic" so I feel like, with the other more "typical" dishes, the "typical ones with a twist" and the "unique" dishes, there's something for everyone here.

But instead of 2 orders of Tacos, Rice & Refried Beans we received 2 orders that had what appeared to be a large Pepper with Rice & Beans. We also received two orders of a tortilla covered in refried beans and topped with lettuce. My son reached out to the restaurant. One of the problems was an IT issue with the restaurant & delivery service, one showing the item number ordered to be one dish while the other showed the same number to be something else. The restaurant would make good on the two taco dinner orders. But my son had to pick them up. He returned quickly with hot food. But the tacos still came apart placed in a container with rice and refried beans. We then had lots of food, delivered in error, to throw away. While I don't do sour cream, I scrapped it off and enjoyed it. I had asked for some house hot sauce, habanero which added a great kick!! The chicken taco was seasoned just as well!
