I ordered ahead of time on the app and when I arrived (8 minutes after my order was to be ready) my order was not ready to go. I was made to wait another 10-12 minutes inside with nothing more than a "We're running a bit behind." No, "I'm sorry," or an offer for a discount or any freebies for wasting my time. The young women working that day were nice and working hard (I didn't seeing them goofing off, which is typical of fast food restaurants when my orders are not ready on time); however, I put my order in nearly 90 minutes ahead of time. These places need to train their staff better. It should go without saying that if/when a customer orders online/through an app, that they value their time and THEY DO NOT WANT TO WAIT. Thus, having the order 100% complete a few minutes early is better than making us wait 15-20 minutes later than the pickup time was supposed to be. Kinda disappointed this visit. I ordered at the drive thru (doors are locked to walk-in customers). I typically look over the menu, but not today. I kinda felt rushed because the line behind me was growing. Feeling rushed, I forgot to ask if they still give a military discount. When I received my order, there was no receipt, no hot sauces. The chicken roller was good, but I don't know what the meal portion of my order was. I guess if I had a receipt, I could reference it to tell you what I just ate. This use to be one of our favorite places to go. The last few times there have been not so hot. Long wait times. And they have messed up our order more than twice yet I still go back. I don't know about you, but I'm getting tired of Egg McMuffin's. I mean, they're not bad, but sometimes you just want something different. And, not...boring. Del Taco gives you that. I know Taco Bell has breakfast now in some locations, but it really doesn't measure up to the quality here. The chorizo actually tastes like chorizo. The guacamole seems to be freshly made. This is definitely a step up from the cookie cutter quality that you see at most fast food restaurants. I would honestly rather have their breakfast then the breakfast and any other fast food place. Also, the food is very good the rest of the day, too. Comparing again with Taco Bell, their quality is definitely superior. Late night cravings ? Del Taco has a 24 hour drive - thru. Del Taco is not just a Mexican place, it also has salads, burgers and even vegan/vegetarian options. We ordered the Chicken Avocado burrito and the Carne Asada burrito and Chicken Spicy Jack Quesadilla. Everything tasted great and the portions sizes were generous. So this is my go to place for ground turkey tacos and I always enjoy them. To my surprise they have discontinued the turkey del. So, I went with the replacement the beyond Del, which is not bad. It's made with the same beyond vegetarian meat. I will say it's expensive! One taco cake to 3 dollars with sour cream added. So two tacos will run you 6 dollars. I just happened to notice the sign on my way to the library, and instantly had a craving for tacos. My impression was that Del Taco was a rival to Taco Bell; however, when I got there, I noticed that it really wasn't. Serving Mexican style tacos (double soft tortilla shells), The layout is definitely fast food, where you place your order at the counter, retrieve your food, and seat yourself. This particular location in Roseville did have outdoor seating. As it was mid seventies and the tables had umbrella canopies, I decided to enjoy my food outside as it wasn't too windy. I was only in there for a snack as I recently had lunch, but seeing as I'm not normally in Roseville, and knowing that there isn't a Del Taco near me, I had to stop in. Being my first experience here, I knew I definitely wanted to try the fish taco, and asked the girl behind the counter what was their best tasting taco in her opinion. She responded quickly that the shrimp taco was good and very popular. So I ordered one of those as well. For my third and last, I ordered the chicken soft taco just for a comparison with Taco Bell. Del Taco, offers sauces just like Taco Bell, in little packets with varying degrees of heat. Seeing as I only had three tacos, I went for the mild, the Inferno, and the Scorcho to complement. The Fish taco. This was breaded which wasn't what I was expecting. But at least it was real fish and not processed fish inside. The taco consisted of a single fish finger, cabbage and salsa. On the side was a wedge of lime. The salsa lacked flavour and was mainly tomato with not enough cilantro, onions and/or garlic. Even with the lime, the taco was mediocre at best. with the sauce packet, the heat definitely improved the taste, offering much more flavour (and preservatives I'm sure) and elevated the taco to an acceptable level. 3,5 stars. The shrimp taco came with the same cabbage and salsa, and the shrimp was also breaded. However, it came with an extra element, mayo. The shrimp was fresh (as there was a "pop" when you bite into it" and it carried much more flavour than the fish. The girl was right, and I can see why the shrimp taco is popular. 4,5 stars. The chicken soft taco came with lettuce, cheese, and chicken. This taco was to serve for direct comparison against Taco Bell. The chicken was pretty flavourful and on the cusp of drying out, but not quite there yet. The chunks of chicken were bigger than that of TB. 3,5 stars. The sauces. The scorcho was pretty much the only one that had some decent heat. The good news is that it's pepper heat, not chili seeds or vinegar type heat. More bang for your buck than Taco Bell. They're not pretending to be an authentic Mexican restaurant either. They serve fries with their combos...and burgers. So if there's that one annoying person in the car who absolutely insists on a burger you've got 'em covered without having to hit up a second drive thru. Man I was hungry. 2 Hard Shell Tacos, 1 Carnitas and 1 Beef Burrito. Until this trip i'd never had anything other than their Tacos, which are a bit skimpy if you don't go all deluxe, but on the other hand are super cheap, so you get what you pay for. I wasn't impressed with the Carnitas, but it wasn't horrible and the Burrito was just fine. I like Del Taco over the competition pretty much because their Salsa tastes better. My girlfriend and myself usually have del taco when we are down in roseville. It is always a treat to have because of how cheap it is. I usually only order regular hard tacos and a steak del carbon. The del carbons are awesome except for when they over burden it with sauce. The cheesecake bites are deep fried heaven. Service is usually on point and the food is always delicious! (Author's note) This review is based on pre exposure to SW Detroit, aka Mexico Norte before I discovered real tacos. I discovered Del Taco while still living in Toledo. They moved into the old space once occupied by Krispy Kreme. I rejoiced because at last I was free of the icy grip Taco Bell had on me. I went to the movies to see Despicable Me which has become of my favorite movies. Being that I was there on a Thursday, going to the coney island wasnt in the plan. I'm cheap and I know it. I also knew that Del Taco had 3 for a buck tacos. They were pretty good, and despite an after theatre rush, the staff took my order and processed it in a timely manner. Del Taco is way better than Taco Bell. I could do a throwdown, but Taco Bell would lose on every count. They just do things better. The burgers as Nicole mentioned are nothing to write home about, and no one in their right mind would ever order a burger from a taco joint anymore than you would order a taco from a burger joint (Jack in the Box). The one thing that stands out is that every summer the drink prices go down and you can walk away with a big drink for a buck. That gets me every time and since I spend long stretches in my taxi, having adequate liquid refreshment is key to me making money. I hate to stop for anything, especially if I don't have to. If you can't get down to SW Detroit to get real Mexican, then by all means hit up Del Taco. It's not the best out there, but it will do in a pinch. read more
