The NAME IS COOL! The ambiance is fun and I love the odd decor. Antique chairs and taco pillows. Cool signs and vibrant photos. Plus a sauce wall with many different sauces to try. Service is good the cashier was pleasant and friendly. I happened to stop by on Taco Tuesday while visiting the Detroit Burbs. With a name like Taco Kings I expected amazing tacos. These were quite disappointing. The daily special was blah and the tacos were mediocre. My friend told me she enjoys the nachos and quesadillas here. I probably should have tried that instead of tacos. That probably was my sign and a hint to try her favorites. The street taco (steak) lacked in seasoning and was a bit chewy. The Tuesday Special hard shell taco barely had cheese. It was loaded with tomatoes more than anything else. The meat wasn't well seasoned either. The tacos are definitely a NO for me. When and if I visit again I might try my friend's suggestions to see if the outcome is better. Prices are reasonable and it was tidy inside. All I wanted was good food like one of the signs said, but all I received was bad food. THE...Ambiance and Service were good and that was the best part of this experience. I feel so lucky to have eaten here, what a gem this place is. I was in the mood for birria tacos after a long day in the sun and this was close to where I was staying at. It's right next to Amarin Thai which I've also eaten at a few times in the past. Walking in the place has plenty of seating and a very friendly lady took my order. She really was super cool and I enjoyed talking to her while I was here. They have a great variety of options here from smaller plates to larger dinner portions as well. I ordered my birria tacos with a side of rice and a can of sprite. They don't do fountain drinks here so I also requested a glass of water. The food was very good, and the rice was good but I wasn't in love with it. It started to taste funny after a while and I couldn't finish it. Hard to say why, but it is what it is. They have all the fixings at the tables so you don't have to get up to ask for more napkins or essentials. They also have a great selection of hot sauce to choose from so have at it. Prices here are great and I walked away happy as could be. While it's a huge place, I really did enjoy my time here. I would return to try more food when I'm on this side of town. read more

First time coming here and ordered take out. The service was so nice and patient as I was figuring out orders as we were ordering. We didn't even have to wait long for our order. And they also gave me more queso than what I ordered which was so kind of them! When we got home to eat, the food did not disappoint. Everything I ate here on our first visit was excellent. Fresh ingredients in their house salsa with freshly made chips, tasty taco beef in our tacos and refried beans and rice, fresh thin flour taco shells which I love, and to top it all off a very friendly and attentive hostess/server. Portions were just right for the meals we ordered. Pricing for meal deals are decent but they charge extra for a lot of little things one would normally expect as part of a meal. When you walk in the first thing you see is all the different bottles of hot sauce displayed in front of the counter, so many that it would be almost impossible to try in one visit. This place is located in a small strip plaza, and while it may look small on the outside it's spacious enough that there are several 4-seat tables available if dining in. Got a steak bowl, shrimp taco, burritos taco, soft shell beef taco. Steak bowl was good. It was a packed container of well seasoned steak, beans, rice, some veg, guac. It was large and filling. Recommend this to anyone who is hungry. The tacos was just average however. The shrimp taco was unimpressive for the 4.5$ I paid. Small pieces of shrimp in a white flour tortilla with some cheese on melted. It looked sad and the sauce it came with did not make it up. The beef taco was good but nothing special and I would not order it again. If you want to play it safe you can get this, just nothing special. The Birria taco was unique but I did not like the dipping sauce that everyone raved about. It lacked flavor and I enjoyed the taco better without the sauce. It was the best taco of the ones I tried but I wouldn't get it again. The hot sauces made the place unique. I tried a decent number with small to go containers. They were all very good and inspired me to buy some. Service was nice but little slow on a weekday lunch day. Might give the place another try. read more

As always we LOVE TACO KINGS! Had to stop by on our last day in the area and get two TK BURRITOS those pictures are from previously we have went 3 times in the mix of moving due to how much we will truly miss this delicious taco restaurant. Service is always outstanding and friendly and the cook is absolutely amazing. You can't beat the home made chips and salsa every time it has a different taste but always just as amazing. I walked in super hungry and still left with about 1/4 of my salad and tortilla bowl in a takeaway box. My partner ordered the chorizo and fish tacos, along with a side of tortilla chips and salsa. He really enjoyed his tacos. The chips came out fresh and hot. There was a mild salsa and a hot salsa for the chips - we ended up liking the mild over the hot salsa, despite being fans of the heat. The mild had really good flavor. We ended up ordering more chips and salsa to-go as well as a dolce de leche cake. The cake was very moist and tasty. Overall, an excellent time! The first experience was good with the cashier but second one was insisting I had to get the tasteless corn for a side. The salsa is more like just crushed tomatoes and bland.
