ORIGINAL REVIEW: I hate writing negative reviews, but it is the only way to get management's attention these days. After a long day working an event, I stopped into the local Big Boy hoping for something simple and reliable -- the salad bar and a decent sandwich. Unfortunately, neither of those expectations were met. First disappointment: the salad bar was closed. That was the main reason for stopping in. The bigger issue, however, was the atmosphere and service. The restaurant was practically empty, and it quickly became clear why. The waitstaff looked like they were more interested in getting out the door than taking care of the few customers who actually showed up. Service felt rushed, curt, and distracted while they focused on side work and closing tasks rather than hospitality. Then came the kicker: a server came to the table and casually informed us they didn't have cheese for the sandwiches. At that point, it's hard not to wonder how a restaurant runs out of something as basic as cheese. Between the closed salad bar, missing ingredients, and staff that clearly wanted the night to end more than they wanted to serve guests, the whole experience felt like customers were an inconvenience. When a restaurant looks empty from the parking lot, experiences like this explain exactly why. This kind of "we're already closed in spirit" attitude toward paying customers is unacceptable. If you're open, then operate like you're open -- otherwise lock the doors and call it a night. **UPDATE: Manager came and checked up on us. Ordered an hot fudge ice cream cake. They hooked it up. We went to Big Boy for the first time in years and it definitely brought back some childhood nostalgia. The inside looked exactly like you would expect. We ordered the tortilla soup, the Big Boy, and a brownie sundae. Everything was decent--nothing bad, but very average overall. Our waitress was friendly and kind, but she went missing several times throughout the meal, which made service feel a bit inconsistent. While it was an okay experience for the price and fun for the memories, it's not somewhere we'd plan to frequent. Love Big Boy! I used to live in Sterling Heights and go to this location all the time! It was always wonderful and on my return visit it did not disappoint. The only thing that was sad was I couldn't get the mashed potatoes and chicken tortilla soups in quart containers to go. Service was lacking slightly, but everyone was very nice. I had to remind them of my order several times, but I would still go back for the Big Boy experience every time. read more

This was my second time visiting this location, both experiences were great but I was impressed by the teamwork I saw. Tiffany (our server) was great! She was serving by herself (on Black Friday, and next to an ice arena that had games that morning/afternoon). She kept her composure and moved quickly and kept a smile on her face. When it became a little too much, her GM (Demetrius) and another manager (Chris) jumped on the floor to help her and the guests. I saw Chris rolling silverware. They all did a great job and were very kind. (Being in the industry, you don't always see managers help in times like that.) I don't eat out much, but I'll definitely be back. read more

My wife and I have dined here several times. The last 3 to 4 times have been subpar. The place was short staffed, wait times for our food were long, and the food was mediocre at best. We didn't blame our servers as they were doing the best that they could to handle being short staffed. We went in a week ago and it was somewhat busy. We were sat fairly quickly, but weren't acknowledged by anyone. We sat there for at least 10 to 15 minutes and weren't approached by anyone. My wife and I decided to leave and go somewhere else. No one seemed to notice that we were leaving. We will not be back to this location. read more

My boyfriend and I had a terrible experience at a Big Boy near our home last year. We were in the area for a Rockers game next door and wanted to give them another shot. Outstanding! From the moment we walked in to the second we left we had wonderful friendly service! The salad bar was well kept. Lots of servers. Our food was hot and fresh and we were in and out in around 30 minutes. The restaurant is newly built and has a great vibe! Lots of TVs to watch games on. First off - yeah! Another Big Boy restaurant in Michigan; love it! As a long-time fan of the Big Boy's off of Hall Road in Clinton Township, MI I must say the ambiance here is 100% different. It feels like a huge, ultra conformed, coney island. You'll need to leave that desire to have the old cozy Big Boy feeling aside. I also really miss the claw machine, lol. Old Big Boy feels aside this is a clean, spacious, well-organized, well-run Big Boy. Our servers were excellent, never lacking for a refill on our drinks or an extra napkin if needed. The food was cooked perfectly and served hot. The prices are right, there is plenty of parking available. The salad bar was very clean and well-appointed. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and wish this new location much success. read more

I've been waiting for this new location to open, right in front of Big Boy Arena. I decided to go to a Rockers game, and checked ahead and found out they had finally opened. It's nice and open inside, and certainly doesn't look like your standard Big Boy. I was alone, so I sat at the counter back by the kitchen, and the staff was working the pass hard this night. Service was quick and friendly, and I decided on a Big Boy burger, with a salad with the awesome garlic and oil dressing. My drink never went empty, and it was a great team effort to serve everyone. The burger was delicious, everything was. I had to get to the game, they got me my check and all set in plenty of time to make it. This is a really good location, hopefully they keep it up! read more

Many years ago we had sworn off Big Boy. The few times we went the food wasn't great and the service was meh. Heading to a Rockers game at Big Boy Arena we needed some dinner. This is a brand new build, so at the very least we knew it was going to be clean. Not only was it clean, the food was good, and so was the service. We have been to this location multiple times now for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! As said before, super clean. The soup and salad bar is kept well stocked and clean! The breakfast bar was also stocked very well, and all kept HOT. The Chicken Tortilla soup is my favorite! The chicken is hand dipped and SO good! The service has been great! This location can get pretty busy with the arena being right here, but they handle the rushes as best as they can! We have thrown Big Boy back into the rotation! read more

Ice is terrible, No heat in 90% of locker rooms, bathrooms disgusting, whole building is run down and every time they get a new owner they just slap a coat of paint up or a half ass bar and pretend it's great. May 10, 2025 Worst lunch experience ever. Started with noticing the table food was just brushed off onto the chairs. We had to clean our own chairs before sitting. No management seen checking on things, waitress never around. Never checked on us. No utensils until 5 minutes after the food, AFTER we had to ask for them. Fish served burnt to a plastic texture. Incomplete meals brought to the table. Cold coffee served. It was the worst experience. A different waitress from a different table noticed how bad our food looked, that we had no utensils or napkins, that our coffee wasn't being drank. She took the initiative to make everything right and made sure we were satisfied with the corrections. SHE should have been the manager, but was not. There did not seem to be anyone else experienced, or who cared. Won't go back until new management or waitress and cook training. read more

Our family visited this location for the first time last night. It has a nice modern vibe with large glass windows and a variety of booths and tables to choose from. Our waitress was friendly, and there was a gentleman going around the tables asking everyone how they were liking their food. Our meals consisted of burgers and fries, a chicken Caesar salad, and an omelette with hash browns and biscuits. Everyone enjoyed our food, and the service was great too. Great place to go after a soccer or hockey game being it's so close to the ice arena and total soccer. The service was excellent, especially from both ur server and host Jordan and Zach. I love the option for soup and salad bar and the pretzel appetizer was tasty. The ambiance is a modern brand with food and decor that appeals to multiple generations. read more

Service was great! Food, not so much. My favorite Big boy food is their spaghetti. It came out of the kitchen, piping hot . I got a nice large portion but the bottom of the bowl was just swimming in water. The sauce got a little sloppy. The problem was the salad bar! It was after 2:00 p.m. and they still had breakfast up on the salad bar but they were not allowing any patrons to get the items. My husband ordered the salad bar because we were informed that it was being changed over from breakfast to standard Fair. The salad bar is $12.99. It contain minimal salad items and the soup had to come out of the kitchen. read more

My husband and I stopped by this Big Boy for breakfast today. We initially thought they might be closed because the parking lot was empty, but they were open! The restaurant was exceptionally clean, our food was delicious, and our waitress, Hannah, was fantastic. Normally, I'm not a fan of buffets, but watching the gentleman set it up made me want to try theirs. He ensured everything was fresh, clean, and perfectly organized. There was about 8 workers standing around Al talking and filling up salt and pepper. not once did our driver come back around to see if we wanted refills or anything else. completely awful service. visited this afternoon at 2:30pm. I went to dine in today... best decision ever! I had amazing service my waitress Alyssa helped me pick out what to get. I've never been to a Big Boys yeah, shocker! I've seriously been missing out on great food. Honestly, I ended up getting the Big Boy burger. She told me it's the staple and the classic order, so I had to get my hands on it. The food was up in 10 minutes, and the meat was cooked to perfection. I got the Big Boys sauce on the side because I was a little skeptical, but I ended up asking my waitress for more! Hahaha, it was very delicious. My waitress told me that it's really good, and I regret doubting her because I ended up taking a cup of Big Boy sauce home. Honestly, I recommend everyone try it! I'm planning on coming back just to get more cups of it. I use it for practically everything, and my kids at home love it too. I'm definitely taking them out to eat there sometime soon so they can try the Big Boy burger with its delicious sauce, and I'm definitely calling beforehand to see if Alyssa is working that day. Her service was amazing, and I wish my kids could get that experience too. I've never been a regular for any server or waitress, but I think I might become one for Alyssa. We ordered the chicken strips dinner at the Big Boy in Fraser this evening. I was aware that the number of chicken strips was reduced from 6 to 4 and served with Texas Toast instead. Unfortunately, Big Boys idea of Texas Toast is nothing more than dry toast. I've mentioned it to the servers and they shrug their shoulders. The French Fries were not fresh and were chewy, not crisp. Overall, not worth the money. If you order a Brawny Lad, I would suggest you request they not toast the bun unless you prefer it to disintegrate on your plate when you attempt to eat it. Overall, not a very good dining experience or up to Big Boy standards. read more

Since this new location on Utica Rd opened my wife and I have been there about 6 or 7 times. Each visit was good. The breakfast buffet and soup and salad bar are great.
