Hiring a company you've never worked with before can be daunting…read more I'll admit -- I'm not the most trusting person. So when Brandon commented on my town's Facebook page offering help with my faucet issue, I took down the number... but waited. I tried to fix it myself (I know, not the brightest idea -- the cut on my thumb agrees). Eventually, I had to admit I was out of my depth and gave Brandon a call. Right away, I got a text confirmation with my appointment details and the morning of i another message letting me know he was on the way. When they arrived, they couldn't have been nicer. They got straight to work and quickly fixed the problem. On top of that, Brandon gave me helpful suggestions to prevent it from happening again. For me, it's a real comfort knowing there's a reliable, friendly, trustworthy company I can call when things go south. To begin with, it was easy to get an appointment quickly…read more Then, they texted me when they were on their way with a picture of the person, Joseph Nagy, who was coming to check my electrical outlets, install a light fixture in the living room and change the fan in the bathroom. Joseph came with another electrician (please forgive me for not remembering his name at the moment). They introduced themselves, were polite and professional. They gave me an assessment and an estimate of how much the job was going to cost before they did the job. That's a sign of professionalism and honesty. Once I gave them the "Go ahead," they were very thorough. The installed the fan and the light fixture (even though I had lost some of the parts for installing the light fixture), and they did a great job. They checked all my outlets to make sure everything in the apartment was OK. When they were done, they picked up and cleaned everything. I've dealt with many people who have come to my house before to fix other things, Joseph and the other electrician never made me feel, as others have done, like I should have known this or that. They are personable, respectful, responsible, and very competent and professional. They sent me an invoice right away and thanked me for using them. I am very grateful for the job they did, and I highly recommend them to anyone who needs good, professional and capable electricians.

I heard about Selective Electrical by word-of-mouth. I actually passed over them for my first job…read morebecause they lacked reviews, going instead with an A-rated Angie's List electrician. When that didn't go so well, I tried Selective Electrical for my next issue. I have found them to be polite, efficient, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. So far, I've had them fix a shorted circuit and install several fixtures, including a range hood, a bathroom vent, and a ceiling fan. They were very proactive about, e.g., not waking the baby, not making messes, taking off shoes when working around carpets, etc. At one point, they took off a fixture and found that the wiring was inadequate. Greg quoted a not-to-exceed price of $75 to bring it up to code, and ended up charging only $11. Similarly, with the bathroom fan, Greg did some research before quoting a price to figure out whether he could avoid running additional wires. Overall, very happy.

My washer was causing a toilet backup and we called polite plumber to schedule an estimate. Had…read morehigh hopes since they were able to come out next day and take a look. The guy was here over two hours late and there was no call nor text to inform me of his lateness (which totally would've been fine as I understand other issues get in the way but at least should have been communicated). Finally after two hours of waiting, we had to call for them to clarify that he was running late. When the guy finally got here, he quoted $800 to clear our main line and an extra $300 if he needed to remove the toilet for access. A full $1100 without tax and tip! Not to mention, we clearly stated the issue and the guy had to "recreate it himself" to see what the issue was and by doing so, flooded my entire basement AGAIN and left us to clean up his mess and causing more damage. We called Roto Rooter after the quote to get a second opinion and they had a guy out in less than 12 hours and gave us a quote over the phone of $350 to clear the main line. They did not re-flood our basement and quickly helped fix our issue. They were transparent that access through the toilet, if needed would cost extra. Avoid Polite Plumber, not affordable, ridiculous prices, causes more harm than good.
