Terry is a master when it comes to his cutting technique. I've always had thick coarse hair that…read morecan get really heavy and shapeless. Terry has a way of cutting and thinning it out so that it lays smooth and creates a natural framing style for my face. It almost changes my texture as my hair has a tendency to fall into these beachy style waves, unless I blow dry it straight. Before those waves would be half straight/half wavy due to the weight of my hair. For my thick hair girls, I highly advise to try a Japanese hair cut once in your life and see if it has you coming back. Be sure to bring an inspirational photo to help show what you are looking for. The salon is located inside Ovation Salon off of Dallas PKwy (behind Sixty Vines). He plays very relaxing traditional Japanese ( I believe) music while he cuts.

I only got a cut and it was around $60. The place is very easy to find and he works in a little suite. I showed Terry my inspiration picture and he executed it perfectly! He did go a little shorter than I originally intended but I still loved the cut regardless. Was super gentle when washing my hair. We didn't really converse during my session but I didn't mind since I can tell he was concentrated on his work. Schedule ahead if you plan to see Terry since he gets booked out about a month or so in advance. If you ever need a good hair stylist that will execute your wishes, go see Terry!

I said sorry and stepped outside. They continue to chat, I waited outside for around 8 more mins ( I was about to leave, now I think about it I should have). He washed my hair and used the towel to quickly dry it, immediately use the same towel to wrap around my neck. Since the towel was damp, that immediately triggered a rash on my neck. He cut my hair while my hair was dripping wet, dripping water wet. I was shocked and thought what? The whole time it felt like he was rushing me and rushing to the next appointment. Blow dried my hair quick. Since the customer is immediately lined up the next, When I left my hair still hasn't fully dried. I have to go back to the salon and ask him to use a blow dryer again because it felt damp. For what I paid $60 it felt unprofessional.

The area for head lying down and washing/sink looks messy, unsure was not cleaned or just some scale-forming impurities that haven't been taken care after years. Then the haircut, feels like he's in a rush. I addressed just a little short for my front but turned out way too short. When I went back home noticed some missing spots on the two sides as well... For how much you pay for and how it turned out, it's a little disappointing. I guess it's common nowadays for paying high price and get an ok quality service. Just don't expect too much of it.

** 6/27/16 I have since became a regular here that literally I can say" let's do something new "…read moreI'm open to anything" and she will just take over. It's never over the top crazy but it's definitely hair character and I love all my color changes and styles. ** she's opened my eyes to a lot of colors and styles that I thought I'd never be into. Sometimes you just have to trust your stylist and out your doubts from bad experiences behind. She's stuck with me now and it breaks my heart when I can't see her like ASAP ASAP bc I make changes to my hair like I change clothes! Living in Houston and driving all the way to Plano just for hair treatment is definitely my mini therapy ego booster vacation !!

Yesterday was my second experience with Abby as my colorist, and I am simply bowled over by how…read moregood she is. I've been to many, many hair dressers, and have never encountered anyone with the excellent instincts that Abby displayed from the very start. Abby granted my wish-- making my very dark-brown, somewhat gray hair SCREAMING purple. Though we had to bleach first, I literally left with healthier hair than I came with. And though she could have charged me a LOT more to do my roots on my second visit, she recommended I wait (to keep my hair healthy) and found a deeper purple shade that I not only loved, but which blends perfectly with my roots. The thing with Abby is that she is not shy about telling you the truth. If she thinks you are about to make a mistake, she will tell you, whether it's picking a hair color that's wrong for your skin tone, a haircut that is unflattering, a process that is not healthy, etc. But this goes the other way too-- she comes up with amazing ideas for her clients that are artistic and creative. For example, I happened to mention that I've always wanted a pixie cut, but my last experience getting one was a disaster (i.e. the stylist didn't listen to me and did what she wanted anyway, which I ended up HATING). Abby got a mischievous glint in her eye and asked if I still wanted to do something like that. After she explained what she had in mind (a modified pixie that would frame my face and work with my natural curl), I was more than convinced. It came out even better than I imagined -- I get compliments on it from friends, family, acquaintances, total strangers, constantly! So, if you're looking for a stylist/colorist that will mindlessly do whatever you ask, take the fastest/easiest route, endlessly tries to shove product at you, and treats you like a number, then DON'T go to Abby. But if you want a talented, warm, hilarious, professional that will take the time to get to know you, understand your wants, needs and challenges, thoroughly explain everything that will happen (risks and benefits) and use every bit of her decades of experience to create a style that will blow your mind, then definitely GO TO ABBY! I promise, you won't regret it!

I was open to a solid full color if matching my current color wasn't possible and perhaps a trim. When I called for an Anthony mentioned in reviews, I was told he's no longer here but the other ladies are experienced. I booked an appointment and came in over the weekend. I'll admit letting someone new do anything to my hair is nerve wrecking. I ended up spending 3 hours here and paid for a laundry list of services (color, partial highlight, low lights, toner, cut, blow dry). I was shocked when it was time to pay, $350 + tip totaling nearly $400. I haven't had highlights or low lights since high school! Maybe it's a thing here, I'm just not personally into it. I really like to keep things as natural as possible and don't like putting bleach or anything along those lines in my hair. I got home and cried to my best friend trying to explain I had stripes in my hair now and they look orange. My hair is naturally curly and not a lot of people know how to blow dry or flat iron my hair properly. I felt horrible that I was charged for a blow dry because as soon as I got home I immediately got in the shower to wash all of the product out of my hair, that was put in, in an effort to blow dry it. It wasn't sectioned and blow dried or flat ironed and it felt like a mess. It was also trimmed after this, so now that I've blow dried it and flat ironed it out there is a questionable section that appears to need to be trimmed. I typically get a dry cut after a Brazilian blow out so my hair is completely straight for it. I really wanted a Brazilian blow out until I found out that would be $350! I could have flown home to my girl in LA for my roots, and a Brazilian for less than this. Call me crazy but no hair appointment should be over $800. The girl who does my color, cut and Brazilian would loose her marbles if I told her this. All in all this just isn't a style or look I like or would want to pay to keep up. I feel like as soon as I need my roots done, it would be so obvious that I needed more stripes or whatever all of this is called vs just a solid root color. I'd hate to immediately go pay for a solid color to be put over the $400 service I just paid for but at the same time it doesn't feel like me at all. Although subtle enough (which again, why did this cost so much?!?) that most may not notice, I know that I never have this done to my hair. I saw a bunch of clients coming in which is great for them but this salon isn't going to be the one for me as often as my hair grows the price for services is just outrageous compared to what I'm used to paying. I like the solid dark brown sections and I'm completely confused as to how I had all of this excess going on when I specifically booked a root touch up or solid color and trim. Sometimes you feel a bit taken advantage of when things like this happen.
