This place is great at last minute appointments and getting you in but it is so dingy. It always looks very unclean. Dirt in every crevice, paint peeling, a spider was crawling down the wall next to me. Hard to tell if it's sanitary at all. read more

If the vet recommends bloodwork, but you suspect treatment would be best administered immediately, then they do that for you. They don't force tests and procedures on you if they have a sneaking suspicion that all it will do is confirm the suspected diagnosis. Saved me $$ not testing my dog for parvo and simply treating her for it. She's back to her crazy happy self and it's because of these amazing guys here. Dr. Stout is a great vet. I've been bringing my pets to this Veterinary Hospital for the past 16 years. My dogs are my children so It's very important to me to have a caring, and great vet. Over the past few years I've had my pets pass away, and or become ill, but I always made sure that this was the only vet I brought them too. He is trustworthy, and has great prices compared to others. I like that he gets straight to the point, and is always honest about the outcome of any situation. I will continue to bring my pets here. He is usually booked far in advance. So it can sometimes become very hard to get an appointment ASAP. I have had some opportunity to squeeze my pets in when it's an emergency, and greatly appreciate the staff and vet for that. Do not bring your fur babies here to this place, Dr. Stout ( Veternarian) mis Diagnosed my beloved Jetti gave him the wrong medication, and he died. I'm am so sad, if I would've never brought him there he would still be here by my side. Dr. Stout all he could do was look it up on Google said it was the medication, then he said that my doggy got into some poison it wasn't the medication, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. he suggested you might as well euthanize him. I know this is the only Veternarian place in Delano, it's not worth the expensive charges make a trip to Wasco, or Bakersfield it'll be worth it. all this place is about is making money, to look up a diagnose on Google I don't even know if this man went to Veternarian school or where he got his degree at maybe online . In the few months I've lived in the area I have brought my dog in for shots and my red kitty in for issues with allergies. The front desk staff is always very busy, but they take the time to greet me and get me settled in a timely manner. Dr. Stout is very matter of fact and doesn't bother with a lot of chitter chatter. He wants to get straight to the point. He talks rather quickly and I often have to write things down so I don't forget when I get home. He is gentle enough with my pets when he examines them and that's important to me. My feral rescue cat doesn't travel well and when we arrived for his shots, he was a smelly and yucky mess. Dr. Stout and his assistant cleaned my kitty and his carrier up the best they could with no complaints. This place is definitely not fancy. It's in an old building that is dark and pretty cramped. There has been an odor each time I've visited. I can't seem to put my finger on what it might be. The building is so old that maybe just the air ducts aren't clean.. the smell can sometimes be overwhelming for me, but luckily I'm not there usually more than 30 minutes. Check out/paying is quick. They even help me carry my big fat red kitty out to the truck. As long as I continue to live in this area, I'll bring my pets here. read more

Had an appointment to have my dog looked at for worms. I had noticed that there were worms in her poop so I notified the doctor. He took a look at her anus and seen that there were no worms SHOWING outside even if I strictly came in due to worms appearing in her poop for multiple days. I wasn't given medication or anything of that sort for the worms. I had to order my own medicine online for her worms because the doctor insisted she did not have any worms in her system. The Dr. And his staff are so nice at this hospital. We are from out of town and found a puppy that was attacked by something and left for dead laying in the 100 degree desert abandoned in a state park. We brought "major" into them and even though they were very busy it only took about 20 mins to get him looked at, given fluids and antibiotics and stable. The doctor said he thought bones looked good and hopefully internal organs we're ok and only charged us 85.00!!!. We got to our emergency hospital 200 miles away and they tested blood work and did x Ray's and the Dr. Was totally right, organs we're fine, no broken bones, major bite wounds(mountain lion) it turns out, 4-7 days estimated to have been out in the elements alone. After surgery, Major is his name now btw, 4 drain ports, antibiotics and stiches and we have a beautiful white husky that was able to get up and take a couple steps right after surgery, he now has love and a good home. So grateful to have been given enough confidence to go thru with this whole process and save an innocent life. read more

Stout is an absolute joke! He sucks! Over the course of two years I know of Stout misdiagnosing three dogs two of which ended up with cancer and the other had severe kidney failure. At the latest visit to Stout he said the dog had a form of parvovirus common in German Shepards and further stated he did not have time to treat the dog. Stout didn't even confirm with labs if the dog has any sort of virus. All of these dogs were eventually taken to Bakersfield Vet Hospital, which led to actual diagnosis's. If I had the option this jerk would get no stars! Some of his own employees don't even take their own dogs there. Don't let this guy steal your money! He's worthless! read more

A lot of vets around are not accepting new clients. Luckily Delano vet is accepting new clients. Took my cat in because he was limping. Dr gave him a pain shot and a shot of antibiotics. My cat was better within 2 days. The price was right also! I paid 118$ for the visit and the two shots. He also trimmed one of his nails for me. I had an appointment and did not wait longer then 10 mins outside and about another 10 in the room. You can also go in with ur pet. Lot of other places don't let u go in because of covid. The assistants were nice. I'm def keeping this place as my cats veterinarian. read more

Dr. Stout is very honest, which is a very good thing. Although we had to come at an unfortunate reasoning, Dr. Stout was very nice & gave us informative detail about what was going on with my pup. My pup hasn't been eating & we were assured that he did not look sick, but may have a bacteria he is fighting at the moment. Dr. Stout was friendly with my pup & definitely assured him that he was going to be okay. I also like the fact that he doesn't double charge for test. For example, we had a choice to get a blood test, parvo test, treatment, medicine or parvo test, treatment, medicine or just medicine only. We chose to get the blood test w/ treatment & medicine. He mentioned that if he doesn't improve the next day, we would be able to come back & test for parvo & it would just be the test & nothing else. Reason why I knocked off a star is because of the prices. A bit overpriced, but that's how it is I suppose. read more

The friendliness of the staff (not only towards me, but my dog, too) was so nice. I love the care people have for animals in this place. I got my puppy shots with free nail trims for reasonable prices. My dog was so terrified of the shots, so they gave my dog a treat afterwards to make her feel better. Also, they give you book that will keep track of the shots, so that's pretty handy. The only problem I have with this place is the cleanliness. When I lived in town, my dog and I have made several appointments to Dr. Stout and each visit was just as informative, helpful, and full of compassion. My dog had been vomiting randomly for a span of weeks, so I took him in. As a broke college student, I was afraid the vet bill would be crazy high for a bunch of diagnostic tests. After running a physical examination and me expressing that I couldn't afford to run a bunch of tests, he said that given the signs and symptoms, my dog's vomiting is likely due to high anxiety as opposed to having eaten something bad then he prescribed doggy Prozac. So I just ended up paying for the medication and the $45 visit. Dr. Stout was completely right!! My dog stopped vomiting completely after he started the meds. I had been taking my dogs there for years but then my dog got so sick he developed severe diarrhea, then a hernia and he said it was nothing to be concerned about. After multiple visits and much money being paid to him he never solved the problem just the symptoms. My dog got worse last night with bloody stools and took him to Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital and let me tell you after I met Dr. Keith he right sway figured out the problem. All he had to do was a rectal exam. Why didn't Dr. Stout just do the same after taking him multiple times and asking him could it be cancer? He never once answered my question! My dog was suffering and had to be put down early this morning at 1:00 am. Always go with your gut feeling and always get a second opinion. read more

I'm updating my review since I have now been going to Dr. Stout for about 5 years now. Our family has now added more animals and with each we have taken them to Dr. Stout. We love it here, the new assistants and clerk in the front are great. They are friendly and super helpful. Now that I have gotten to know Dr. Stout, I've become very comfortable with him and I'm especially pleased that he remembers us and our pets. I can discuss another of my dogs while I have another there for a check up and he knows exactly what I'm talking about. I do love the personal level in which he works. One of our dogs has a bad skin allergy that flares up once a year and when we first got her, he worked with us to make sure we could get it under control. He also answered ALL of the questions I had and gave a lot of great feedback on things to try. I would highly recommend him. read more
