They find just the right balance of being friendly and getting the job done quickly to keep appointments on time. Even when I arrive early for appointments, I rarely wait more than a couple of minutes. Once when I was there, the power went out due to a thunderstorm, and the technician, doctor, and receptionist all apologized to me for the appointment taking so long, as if they were at fault for the testing equipment not working without electricity. They value my time. One thing I really appreciate is that every time I have to use one of the testing machines, the technician always reviews the purpose and procedure of the test, in case I don't remember everything since last year. I appreciate that insight into how anxious a patient may feel in a dark room with an intimidating piece of high-tech evaluation equipment. I also like the way the doctor gives me the results immediately instead of sending them to me later when there's no one to explain or answer questions. Another thing I really like is something they don't do. I don't wear glasses, even though glasses might help a little bit in some circumstance (e.g., night driving, which I almost never do). Since I'm not having any problems, no one makes me feel pressured to buy glasses that I'd probably never wear. I feel as though I'm dealing with health professionals, not sales reps working on commission. I don't want to feel like I took the car in for an oil change, and now I'm being coerced into getting a brake job. If Dr. Nguyen ever does tell me that I need glasses, I'll get them feeling confident that it's a medical decision, not an up-sell. Bottom-line, although I live closer to both Salisbury and Seaford, I'll continue to drive to Georgetown to Sussex Eye Center because I trust Dr. Nguyen and the staff with my vision and overall eye health.

So much back and forth and stress. I didn't know who was correct. While on vacation in DE, I went to Milton Optical (formerly Sterling). I told her my story, she examined my glasses and said the lenses were made correctly and that my doctor probably checked my lenses electronically which isn't always accurate. Milton Optical didn't charge me anything for checking the lenses. She was so nice. Also noticed they have a nicer selection of frames than the place I normally go to. Everyone should go here.

We truly appreciated the level of care and compassion shown. However, there was an issue afterward that needs improvement. When we went to CVS to pick up the prescribed medication, it wasn't there. After looking into it, we found the prescription had been mistakenly sent to Express Scripts (my long-term mail-order pharmacy) instead of the local CVS. Mistakes happen, and that part was understandable. The frustrating part was the process to fix it. When I called Bayhealth, I was told the correction had to be reviewed by a doctor, even though the prescription had already been approved--just sent to the wrong place. We were sitting in CVS waiting for the medication, running on very little sleep due to our daughter's condition, which made the delay even more difficult. We waited for about 45 minutes with no resolution. When I called back, I was told the doctor was with another serious patient and we would have to wait longer. The concern is not the mistake itself, but the lack of an efficient process to quickly correct something like this. Situations like this directly impact the patient, especially when medication is needed promptly. There should be a faster, more streamlined way to resend a prescription to the correct pharmacy without unnecessary delays. Again, the care we received in person was excellent--but improving this process would make a big difference in the overall patient experience.
