I made an appointment with Delaware Eye Clinics due to a concern with my left eye that my dermatologist pointed out to me. My former eye doctor didn't have notes from the fall so I contacted Delaware Eye Clinics. My appointment was Friday. I walked in and the office was very crowded. Patients started to be called back. I waited for maybe a half hour to start my appointment, but that's not unusual for other doctors I see. Then I was called back and I started my testing and all the initial health questions were asked since I guess I was a new patient. Then I met Dr. Smith and we discussed my concerns with my left eye. He was thorough in my testing and discussed everything he saw. He showed me the pictures of my eye. He made me feel very relaxed. I now have a new eye doctor. read more

DE Eye Surgeons - Dr. S. Gregory Smith & Associates. I had been delaying my cataract surgery for over 2 years until I found Dr. G. Stewart Smith in Centerville, DE. I was fortunate to have contacted Heather Seiver who was instrumental in getting me an appointment. On that very first appointment I met very professional individuals at this office who made it easy to decide and move forward. I had my first right eye surgery on 4/19/23 and the next today 5/3/2023. Both surgeries went very well. In a few more days I'll know more but it appears I may not need my bi-focal glasses anymore. I decided to go with the Multi-Focal lenses although they have more advance light adjustable lenses too. During my first visit and subsequently I also met Amber a Lead technician here for 19+ years who explained the various lenses as part of my early education. I highly recommend this practice especially Dr. Smith. Everyone is highly trained, very professional and totally dedicated to making patients feel at ease. Other key professionals I've interacted with are Jackie Detwiler - the cataract, glaucoma & corneal surgery nurse counselor, Dr. David Compton - the anesthesiologist and several friendly people at the front desk. SHADY PRACTICE. DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT TO GET A HEADACHE. They would not charge my insurance, even though I'm in network. Then they would not give me a contact lens rx unless I came back for a separate appointment and paid another $200 out of pocket. Then, they would not give me a copy of my glasses prescription or forward it to my new eye doctor even though I signed the release form. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and warning everyone not to go here. My mom works for an eye doctor and my grandma did for 35 years before she retired and they have never heard of such nonsense!! read more

I have been having ongoing issues seeing clearly out of my right eye ever since another ophthalmologist performed both cataract and lasik surgery on me. I called Delaware Eye Clinic today to make an appointment because of my poor vision and they virtually told me I had to wait until my next scheduled appointment in October. Four months of pain in my eye and blurry vision that seems to be worsening. I have seen this provider several times. Everything they have done to me should be in my records. However, the rude receptionist (not a surprise in healthcare these days) would not make an appointment for me without me going over my complete history with her because he is booked until October. Bottom line: Overbooked, understaffed, incompetent and rude staff. Stay away!!! read more

Very disappointed with the lack of cooperation of this group. I personally took my medical records to them. Because I can no longer drive, I asked that my records be sent me to be able to find a closer provider. They REFUSED to give them to me and said that the provider's office had to send a request to them. I completed a release form weeks ago. Dr. Munro has still not received them! Why can't I pick up my own records???? This is totally unacceptable! They we're argumentative with me. Terrible behavior. read more

My previous experience with the front office had been difficult but has seemed to improve. Dr. Smith has been one if not my favorite eye doctor that I've ever been to. He is caring thoughtful takes his time with you. He goes out of his way to make sure you're comfortable with whatever it is that he's helping you with. Jennifer in contacts has been extraordinary with assisting me in my difficult decision of getting contacts. Both her and Dr. Smith have worked wonders with my issue. I would highly recommend them. What a disappointment in a Doctirs office. showed up for a 10 am appointment. Girl told me my appointment was for 11 am. I asked who changed it. She then advised I can't get ito see the Doctor until 11am. so I waited in my car when they called and said I could come in early. they ran a few tests and I sat for 2 hours before seeing the eye Doctor. saw the eye doctor who examined my eyes and advised that I need glasses and my old prescription was no good because my eyes got worse. Doctor completed the tests and I was released. Went to check out paid my co pay I advised the girl checking me out that I need a copy of the new glasses prescription. she advised I can't have the prescription unless I pay $35. What. the prescription was sitting on my file on her desk and I couldn't get a copy unless I paid for it She further advised that the test the doctor did is not covered by my insurance This girl left and brought in her manager I guess. she proceeded to tell me. if you want the prescription it's going to cost you $35. We discussed this and I e fed up leaving with a prescription. I will never go back. They are Delawares Best at taking your money. Never again. Remember Clinic. After trying 2 other Eye Doctor practices in the area, Delaware Eye Clinic was recommended to me by a friend. The doctor we see takes his time listening and explaining any issues that we have. The staff there is very professional. It is a very well run office. I am very pleased with this practice, I recommend it to friends, and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. read more

Horrible. I scheduled an appt, that I had to wait 3 months for, to find out they would not submit to my VSP plan, even though VSP sent me there. Staff was EXTREMELY rude even before the glitch. Stay the heck away from these people read more

Had an appointment at Delaware Eye Clinic in January 2019; doctor was nice, the glasses I purchased there (progressive lenses) were very expensive ($850--more than any other vision provider I've been to). Went back for follow up in July 2019 and was left waiting over an hour to see doctor. An assistant dilated my eyes shortly after my 10:00 appointment time, and I was then asked to wait for doctor, who would "be with me shortly." At 11:10, the doctor hadn't seen me and no one had bothered to let me know that he was running late or how much longer I'd have to wait, I let the front desk know that I'd been waiting 1 hour, 10 minutes beyond my appointment time and couldn't wait any longer. I can't afford to take unlimited time off work, and pay inflated prices for eyeglasses, and won't be going back to Delaware Eye Clinic. read more

We've been going to DEC since moving here four years ago. Dr Rudo is excellent! She also referred my husband to a retina specialist who also gives excellent care. The wait can be long, but never been to an opthomologist office that does not have a long wait. Highly recommend. read more

I saw Dr. Conti as a new patient. I had an average experience, I was not blown away. My next appointment was supposed to be a contact fitting, and the doctor wanted to check me in that same appointment for my dry eye. They set me up for an 8am to do so (I work 7:30-5 everyday and need an early appointment). This is where it all went to shit. The optician (who mind you, ONLY TAKES THE MONEY FOR SAID FITTING, DOES NOTHING ELSE FOR THIS VISIT) only works 9-3 and does lunch 12-1, therefore I was instructed to wait around until after 9 to see her. I could not do this, I also cannot leave work in the middle of the day, drive a half hour over there just to throw money at someone. The optician was EXTREMELY rude on the phone, I had to take it to an office manager. From there I was accommodated, the optician would come in a half hour early to see me. But on my appointment day, I was made to wait over a half hour!!! I was taken back at 8am by a nurse who tried to dilate my eyes again, when I informed her this was already done, she wanted to know why I was there!!! I then had to wait over a half hour to see the doctor, who measured and prodded my eyes again..... it was almost 9 before the new contacts were even in my eyes! I have been wearing contacts for 20 years, I have NEVER had such a terrible appointment for a contact fitting and it has never taken more than 15 minutes! I will not be going back. read more

Should have read other reviews prior to doing business with them. Five stars for Dr. Rudo. Clear, concise, detailed and attentive to my evaluation and in her recommendations. Zero stars for their business practices. Misleading at best. My wife made appointments for annual eye exams. When we filled out the paperwork they asked for eye insurance and medical information. Did not think twice as we have had medical eye procedures in the past. Got the exams and thought all was good. Received a bill in the mail from them because our medical insurance deductible had not been met. Called the office, long story short they did not even bill the eye insurance (VSP), they sent it straight to medical because "additional" tests had been done. I said we were not advised of these "additional" tests during the appts. nor told that we would be responsible for paying anything for the visit. Asked if they could bill VSP to reduce what was owed and was told that was not possible. I don't mind paying for services if I requested them or was there because of a vision issue but these were annual exams. Poor and deceiving business practices. If you use them, be very clear on what you are there for and how you will be billed before you let them do anything. Otherwise, be ready for an unpleasant surprise. read more

I have had a similarly bad experience. Not only did the "fitting" cost me $140, but I told them that my insurance was lapsing for a month and that I needed the fitting before September 1st (switching to a new job and had a probationary period...). My initial eye appointment was around the 20th of August, but they stated the fitting couldn't be until September and even after explaining the situation they told me they could bill the fitting visit under the original appointment date since I wouldn't be covered in September. I was told at least 3 times that the fitting would be covered, even with a lapsed insurance, but it was not, they did not back date the appointment, and now I am being hounded for $240 for a visit I already paid a "fitting fee" of $140. The fitting was only to see if I liked the contacts. I have been wearing contacts for over a decade and don't understand why I was charged $380 for something that simple. To make matters worse, when I called to question the bill and explain what I had been told during the appointment the staff who answered was rude and not apologetic. I will NEVER step foot in there again and they will NEVER get anymore of my money! read more
