This place deserves no stars. Read the reviews. Customer service is the worst. Regardless of when you rent a cart you have to cancel within 24 hours. So if you're on your way to Put-in-Bay and rent a cart before you get there and decide not to use it, you still have to pay for the full day. Read the reviews on Trip Advisor - not one of them is good. This company should be forced out of business. I will NEVER return to Put-in-Bay because of them. This is not an upstanding company. They lied about their proximity to Jet Express terminal. It's a good walk and my husband is handicapped, hence the need for the cart. Secondly, they KEEP your drivers license or credit card while you have the cart. If you make an online reservation, you still have to stand in one line with everyone without a reservation. I overheard a customer being told that carts return at 8pm. Customer said ten pm on site, girl shrugged her shoulders and said "not anymore". And, here's your key, no map, no instructions, just take your money and card, "next"!!! read more

If I was able to leave a 0 star review here I would. It pains me to even give them 1 star. We rented a golf cart from here because it was an affordable option for the bash on the bay concert which we were attending. Looking back I wish I would've paid more money for a better company and cart. The customer service was horrible and we were expected to inspect the golf cart before signing a contract but we didn't get a golf cart assigned to us until AFTER we signed the contract. When night came and we were using our golf cart we realized that the headlights did not work at all. Luckily we didn't get pulled over because there were a lot of cops around for the event. We made it to drop the cart off and we told them our complaint about the headlights looking for any sort of refund. They asked if we had actually gotten a ticket and we didn't so they said "so we have no way of knowing if your headlights aren't working or not since you didn't get a ticket" (maybe go over and look, that might work??). and they said their manager would look at it. As we are waiting for the manager they ask us what we are even waiting for, confirming that they only told us the manager was being informed to pacify us in hopes we would just leave. I tried reserving online for same day rental. Website stated I would receive online confirmation 24-48 hrs Don't know how that helps for same day. I received email before that, however I replied we needed to cancel due to the fact we couldn't get to the island because of Ferry restrictions that day. I replied to email as soon as I saw it. I understand they have policy for same day cancels. They could charge hour or two. Instead they charged $76.13 for something noone used. read more

If i could give this place 0 stars i would. When picking up the cart i had a hard time understanding the lady helping me. She then tells me she meeds an id or credit card. Im sorry i only bought one bank card and i need my id to get into the bars. Lucky my wife had her credit card. When returning the cart the told me they gave me a lock, which they didn't. When trying to explain to the lady i never got a lock she was rude and started yelling at me. No customer service just rude. After 6 phone calls and getting nowhere I ended up getting charged $400 with no golf cart because there website will take your money and say you have it reserved. I reserved a cart on line. $110.50 with Put in Bay Golf cart Depot. Went to four different golf cart places in the pouring rain and they kept telling me to try down the street. No one seems to know where Golf Cart Depot is located.I finally am sent to Delaware and told that he keeps changing his name. The guy at Delaware said I was in the right place (I wasn't).Told him I already paid on line. He said no, that was just a hold and needed to run my card and that it would only be $76.13. Both charges went through my bank. Now, I can't get my first charge back because they said I never showed up. Delaware out right lied to me indicating that I was at Golf Cart Depot and took my money. I would not recommend this cart rental at all. They are extremely pricey and do not post the prices or tell you when the cart is due back. When we returned our cart and thought we were paid in full they charged us another $52. Their 24 hour is not a true 24 hours. There are plenty of other places on the island to rent a cart from. They stole $402.38 from me over the 4th of July weekend, for a golf car I NEVER picked up and have email proof that I was cancelling my reservation. They made up and sent FAKE emails to the BBB and my credit card company. And the cherry on top is the fact that my reservation "confirmation" was for a completely different customer... which included their FULL credit card info, name, phone number, and email. Also, forget talking to anyone that can actually do anything, because their "phone number" goes to some random hotel because the golf cart place doesn't actually have a phone....which is probably because they're so shady. Quote from a business in Put-in-Bay, "they make other reputable golf cart rental places look bad...so many complaints about them" Another review stated they were a "shady business." I should have listened. Owner is very aggressive, talked down to me and stated they put their "terms" in the "lowest level of English" They took my son's $367 and tried to state they held our cart for an entire weekend. WARNING: It's a scam!!!! Terrible customer service. I attempted to book a golf cart and never received a confirmation. When I called to clarify, I was told if there wasn't a confirmation, they didn't have a cart available. I made other arrangements. I then noted a charge for nearly $100 on my account. I was told that it was Yahoo!'s fault if I didn't receive the confirmation. They forwarded the alleged confirmation email to me which showed they had forwarded ALL OF MY PERSONAL INFORMATION (credit card info included) to an unknown email address. "The System is Rigged". You've heard that from two presidential candidates. Delaware Carts is rigged. I was with a mobility challenged friend, making it a challenge to get to the other side of the island form the Ferry landing. Delaware Carts would not allow me to cancel my same day on-line reservation, stating that I had to cancel 24 hours in advance of rental to avoid a charge to my credit card. How does one cancel 24 hours before on a same day on-line reservation? The system is rigged. No answer, when I asked that to the sales clerk and the Manager (names withheld) at the kiosk. And when I asked them if they would accommodate with a ride back to the Ferry their politically correct answer was that liability prevented it. I think it was just laziness, or maybe a shock that someone asked them for customer service. Sad reflection on their business practices and ethics. NOTE to Delaware Cart staff: the Cart Rental company at the Ferry actually did that for us. Helpful, pleasant and animated staff working at that business; not the case at Delaware Carts. And they didn't price gouge ($ Cheaper than Delaware Carts). And the Ferry Boat dock staff were just as helpful in explaining the layout and the availability of a courtesy ride from the dock to the nearest cart rental location. A stark contrast from Delaware Carts. Seasonal rental frenzy shouldn't be cause to abdicate business ethics, no matter how short the season. Golf Cart companies are now plentiful on the island and just gouging the customer is wrong. If they are worried about reservation abandonment, then Delaware Carts needs to develop a better reservation system to consider same day cancellations. There is no pride in what Delaware Carts is doing. If you have mobility requirements, then do not use Delaware Carts. Carts were all dirty and were the slowest on the island. At 60 a day for a 4 seater, the rates aren't horrible- but the carts are. We had to clean trash and spider webs out of our cart when starting out. The cart worked fine but we were getting passed all day by rental carts from just about every other place. All the rental carts on the island are governed somewhere around 15 mph so I'm not sure if we just got a bad cart or what. When we complained a bit when turning it in, a couple next to us was also complaining that their cart seemed to be slower than the rest also. Id gladly pay a bit more next time for a cleaner cart that's in better shape. read more

For those of you have been charged when not receiving your reserved cart, please file a complaint with the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/ I reserved a golf cart on 6/12/21 at 1:12pm and received the confirmation email. At 1:28pm, I got to the front of the line and was told there were no carts available. I let the 2 young women at the counter know that I had a reservation and was told that they were not allowed to accept reservations after 1pm. I made sure to ask if my card would be charged since they could not provide the cart I reserved and was told that it would not. Fast forward a few days and my card WAS charged!! I called the number in the confirmation email and explained situation. They directed me to email reserve@putinbaygolfcarts.com. After 4 days without a response, I called again and they informed me that they are only an answering service for the business and gave me an email for Mark, who apparently is in charge of the operation. Still no response from anyone. From reading the reviews, this place is obviously involved in fraudulent activity. I would heavily advise against renting from them via online. read more

On July 30th, 2021 I reserved a golf cart for 8 online for our visit the following day, July 31st. When we went to pick up the cart the lady behind the counter asked me how I'd like to pay for the cart. I told her I had already booked it on my credit card and thought that it was paid for. She informed me that the credit card only holds my cart and that I have an option to either pay in cash or credit so I opted to pay cash. I asked her if she was sure they wouldn't charge my credit card and she reassured me that they won't....the card is just to guarantee a cart. I don't remember her name. I was given Cart #238. When I returned the cart I was not given a receipt and I completely forgot to ask for one as the cart rental place was extremely busy that day. That same evening after I returned home I noticed my credit card was charged on the 30th so I clearly double paid. Since then I've reached out 9 times through e-mail and called twice. I spoke to someone and he advised me to send an e-mail along with a copy of the charge on my bank statement, which I did. He said to mention the cart # and the last four digits of my credit. The second time I called I spoke to another man and he told me I needed to e-mail my correspondence to a different e-mail, which I did. I never heard back from anybody. My sister even went to Put N Bay on August 29th and I asked her to please stop by Delaware Carts and ask for a manager. She spoke to a woman named Rachel and gave Rachel my contact information. She told my sister she would have someone reach out to me. My sister even asked for a manager twice that day and was told one was not around. To this day, I still have not received an e-mail or a phone call. I just want a refund that I deserve. If I could pick 0 stars I would. Shame on this pathetic company to scam all of us hard working people. You obviously have no morals and don't have the fear of God in you...do you realize how much your stealing of our hard-earned money has affected all the people that trusted you? This place is awful. We reserved a cart online for our trip to PIB the end of July as recommended by our hotel. We entered our credit card to "hold" a cart for us. We paid for our rental when we returned our cart and they also charged my credit card for an additional $280.00. I sent an email as instructed to do and received a return call from a very rude man. I sent the proof of charges as requested and now I can't get a return call from anyone or any response the the multiple follow up emails sent. As a side note the company charged my credit card an additional day after we left the island. Wish I would have seen the comments on here before using Delaware Carts!!! I read the reviews after I had booked the cart and I was scared that I had made a bad move. However, the cart was fine. Yes the mirror is small, but who cares. It ran fine. Someone had left garbage in the dash, but that didn't bother me either. It had a half tank of gas when I rented it and I drove it for about 5 hours and it still was slightly below a half tank. The staff said that a full tank will easily last through the week. They are not high end carts, but I didn't pay a high end price. My credit card was only charged once and we were there on 9/3/18. Be aware that they do hold either your license or a credit card until you return it. Overall not a bad experience and I would rent again. 6 person cart for 76 out the door online. read more

Carts are TRASHED. We have rented from them many times. We have to return carts often due to issues. Last time there my cart was stolen within hours of getting it. They handled it VERY poorly. Then got the cart back the next morning yet made me keep calling and checking in with them all weekend. Then to add insult to injury they ended up charging me for the entire weekend. I rented a golf cart for overnight on June 13th and returned it June 14th with a 200 dollar deposit on my card. I paid 108 dollars and some change in cash. I have yet to get my deposit back!!! I emailed them they gave me a response that said my money should be to me in 7-10 days. Well it's July 3 and I have not gotten it!!!!! I emailed the owner but no response! It was a young girl about 18 that ran my card and helped me that day. Worst service I've ever received, had a reservation made online, apparently they don't send reservation emails. showed up and got our cart on a Saturday in June, obviously busy they were sold out and reservation only, turned it back in on time and everything go home from the island, and the next day see my card was double charged. They tried to tell me my reservation was for Sunday and not Saturday and refused to give me back my money because "how dare I ask for my money back from a small business" and the guy was rude when my voice wasn't even raised. Rented a cart for the weekend. When we picked the cart up there was no padlock to secure when not in use. After we returned we were questioned on the lock. We stated there was not when we picked it up.The employee wanted to argue with us and was adamant. After much back and forth we were charged and additional $10 for a replacement lock. The cart was very dirty with trash and needed to be serviced. If possible avoid them, customers service is NOT a top priority for them. read more

Made a reservation online the night before our arrival for a 6 person cart. When we arrived they told us we would have to take two 4 person carts. I accepted just one 4 person cart because there ended up only being 4 of us anyways. The cart we received had just been returned and we heard the customers make a complaint about it. We took the cart anyways, but soon realized there was definitely something wrong. When we returned the cart the worker asked his co-worker which cart to rent out to the customers being helped and she told him not to rent the one we had just returned because something is wrong with it and it's not okay. So we were given an unstable cart when the establishment had knowledge of the flaw. Not okay, considering the high prices. I am absolutely astounded by the lack of customer service by this company. I had accidentally made a reservation for the wrong day and immediately tried to cancel. I followed the rules on the rental agreement exactly to cancel it. I received no reply so I tried an email address for "Mark" at pibohmark@putinbayresort.com. This name and email was given by the answering service. Still No reply. I waited 3 weeks. I tried calling the answering service again and all they could say was follow what the agreement says and if that doesn't work there is no other way to do it unless I show up. If I showed up it would be too late to cancel it. So I try emailing again today and got a response. I would not even give this service any stars. I told him this interaction would reflect on Yelp. It is no surprise when I signed on to Yelp that every review was terrible too! Here is the correspondence I had with "Mark" Subject: Cancellation Message: Hi, I would like to cancel ALL of my existing reservations for golf carts for July 11 and 12, 2015. The first day we got there we went to get out cart that we had rented online. We rented it for two days because that was the duration of our stay. Long story short, we decided to leave a day early. To our surprise they do not offer refunds unless you cancel 24 HOURS before.
