We had a good experience Erie. Making a reservation on line was very easy. The walk from the ferry was a bit of hike but not too bad. The young man that was manning the store was very kind and helpful. The cart was clean and ready to use when we arrived. The cart was easy to use and in good repair. First, the $5 coupon we presented was not honored in our final cost. They are NOT the cheapest on the island as advertised. The cart we were given was slow, had a cracked windshield, and was missing a back safety bar. The final part that was a problem was in the back part of the cart was tilting downward the entire time. It was not a relaxing ride when you had to hold on the entire time. When this was brought to the workers attention at return, he replied that "next time, we should come back sooner". I called for a cart on Saturday. I wanted it taken to the airport, since Erie Island Carts is down the road and we had used them before. I didn't realize that the airport also rented carts. EIC's said I had to physically come there, that they had carts available, but I couldn't reserve it and pay by phone. I called them back when I arrived at the airport, they claimed poor phone connection and hung up on me! I really doubt I'll bother with them again, since walking up the road to get a cart is not my thing. The airport cart service, however, was so accommodating. The rep met me when I got off the plane, asked how she could help (I know I looked frustrated) and got us a nice golf cart right away. The price was also better than Erie Island Carts. read more

The carts themselves are good the service however is lacking. We made reservations ahead of time and for this particular weekend were paying $10 extra. While we were checking in a man with tattooed arms was very nice. The gentleman checking in the customer next to us shouldn't work with the public. He had a serious attitude. He told them to have the cart back by 7:30 and the customer said he was wrong. I piped in and agreed with her. The website clearly says carts back by 8 O'clock and in extended schedule of ferry typically a half hour before last ferry! (The last ferry this weekend was at 9PM.)He argued with me that" No it doesn't say that" then said "it's dark out then"(It is not dark at 8:30) Then he said "that's a really long time" (lol that's what ALL DAY RENTAL MEANS!) Get your shit together Erie golf carts and educate and train your staff to what you advertise! Posted pictures of where it says 8 Pm or half hour before ferry. No where does it say 7:30! Went to E's down the street, not only were they rude (yelling at us from the street to "inform us" they did not do any over night rentals, even though we had not even had a chance to let them know what we needed) but they actually directed us to another place!! Even after a bad experience with a cart that was in poor repair last year we gave them another chance because they happen to rent carts overnight. They require the carts to be returned at 12 the next day but since we wanted to spend a little more time we called them that morning to see if we could turn it in a little later. The person answering the phone was clear that it would be fine for us to keep the cart until 2 'but not much later'. No mention of an additional charge was made- if it had been we would have opted to return it at 12 and take the bus for the remainder of the trip. But because they clearly said 2 would be fine we stayed out and returned just prior to 2. As soon as we parked the booth attendant scolded us for being late and said we'd have to pay for an additional hour. When we explained that we had called and gotten permission they said they weren't aware of that and their policy is that they give an hour grace period. This isn't in their contact and the person we spoke to never mentioned this. They demanded we pay $16 for an extra hour and claimed we caused them to lose business by returning it late. There were at least 15 carts in their lot as he said this to us. They deserve less than 1 star. There are too many other cart companies on the island for such poor customer service. read more

Extremely unprofessional. Reserved my cart in advance for a Saturday, received an email confirmation, and heard nothing else from the company, so I thought everything was good to go. I show up on the day of the reservation only to find out I apparently put the wrong billing address down for my card, so they cancelled my reservation without telling me. No call, no email, not even in my spam, nothing. They were sold out of carts, along with most other places on the island because it was a Saturday. The younger guy at the desk was very polite and apologetic about the situation but when I spoke with the manager was extremely rude and she talked down to me the entire time. It was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. We ended up taking a taxi for $3/person to downtown Put-In-Bay and rented a golf cart from this small little stand for a way lower price. Don't go here, just save your money and go downtown! read more

We had occasion to use Erie Island Golf Carts on our June 25, 2016 trip to Put-in-Bay. When we arrived we were greeted immediately and we were able to get a new cart. Do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere. You'll find the quality of your experience 100 times better. We came to PIB for the wedding of our friend who lives on the island. We arrived in the Miller and walked over to Erie Island Carts at which we had a cart pre-booked. The gentleman who checked us in was nice enough but was in a hurry to move us on. He never told us the time by which the cart would be due back on Sunday. In any event we drove off and went to our hotel then took a drive around the island. The cart broke down on us! I managed to get it started again and we of course drove back to Erie Island Carts to have the issue rectified (which of course took time out of our day). They did swap our cart but no apology or acknowledgement of the inconvenience. The wedding on Saturday was lovely and the weekend overall went without any ill events. This morning we went to Mass then brunch. We checked out of our hotel and drove back to Erie County Carts. The lady checking us in advised us that we were one and a half hours late and there would be an extra charge. We tried to explain that we were not advised of a return time for our rental and assumed it would be the same time we picked it up providing a full two days. She took a condescending tone with us thinly veiled with an offer to "look into our issue". She pointed out that the return time was noon which was scribbled at the top of the rental agreement. So, we got charged for the additional time (even though we did not have the cart for a full two days)! Also, again no apology or acknowledgement of the first cart breaking down. It's obviously these folks do not care for the customer experience what so ever. There are other cart rental companies on the island who do and I would recommend that you inquire elsewhere. Don't even think about renting from Erie Island Carts... rest assured I will not! read more

Worst service ever. I had reserved a 8 passenger golf cart which was given to me upon arrival. After driving the cart around town the steering wheel and the wheels were not working right so we took the cart back and asked for them to either get us a new cart or fix the one we had. They told us they were sold out and they couldn't do anything for us telling us we were SOL basically. So after talking to the guys they took the cart and tried to fix it. They said if we couldn't fix it we could take a four person cart and put the two children we had (4 year old and a 1 month old) on our laps and leave their car seats with them at the rental booth. Not only is that against the law but extremely dangerous. They were able to semi fix the cart so it was so rough to handle and said they would call us if a 6 person cart came in (which would work). When one finally came in it was 5pm and we were leaving at 7 so we said what's the point. The guys told us we would get our money back the trouble. The owner calls 2 days later and says they will give us the money back for the amount of time we were there waiting. $25. Worst customer service I have ever received. Rude new owner. Reserved 2 carts for our family and were told they would pick us up at the Ferry since they are located about 1/2 a mile from the Miller Ferry. Even called on the way there and they confirmed they would pick us up. When we got to Put-In-Bay they were not there and we waited 1/2 an hour before we could get through to talk to them. They said they no longer provided pick up service, after saying they would. We had a handicapped person with us and no way we could walk the 1/2 mile to get there so told them to cancel our reservation and they insisted on charging us a cancellation fee anyway. On top of that the woman was very rude and hung up on me. I will never use this rental service again! read more

I have never written a review for a business before but the guy who drives the cart and picks you up from the ferry is so extremely rude I had to. We reserved the golf cart a week in advance but when we got to the erie island carts store they gave us a crappy golf cart that wouldn't even stay running when I asked if we could have another one the guy yelled in front of everyone and said you just don't know how to drive, (i by the way have owned 2 golf carts in the past). Then the golf cart intermittently ran and he got in the golf cart with my 5 year old daughter and mother in the cart and started to do donuts both almost fell out, my mom was yelling for him to stop, finally a woman who worked there was helpful gave us one of the other 50 golf carts to use, but that guy still didn't want us to have a new one. you get what you pay for, i saved $5 but it was not worth the hassle the carts were crappy and the driver who picked us up was a nightmare, Never Ever Ever Again! read more
